    The Vegan Version - save the juice from the can if chickpeas which an excellent egg substitute (aka Aquafaba). Now 3 tablespoons of the liquid (=1 egg) to the dry mix and go from there. 👍

      @@movingforwardLDTH I freeze the aquafaba in an ice cube tray so I always some on hand. 1 cube is 1 tablespoon.

    FYI, one of healthiest ways to sweeten a tomato sauce is to add a whole carrot while your sauce is cooking, remove it before serving. Great video. Keep up the great work.

    I am not vegetarian, however my friends are. After hospitalisation, I wanted to give my friend a meal after so many times I had eaten at their house. I am thrilled that my first veggie meal came out so well. Thank you so much, my friends were amazed that I even tried. I am going to add this receipe to my collection and will be making it again.     As a vegan, chick peas are a favorite versatile staple in my pantry. This recipe was easy and delicious, a new addtion to my regular meal rotation. To make it GF and vegan, I subbed the bread crumbs with chickpea flour (besan), needing a little extra water, and used a flax egg. Thank you!

      What about bloating?

      ⁠@@user-sy9gj2ny4iYou can try eating smaller beans first, like lentils, then work your way up to bigger beans. You can also soak beans overnight, dump the water in the morning, and cook the beans in fresh water with KOMBU. That helps a a lot. Give it a try!

      I would use chickpea flour. Regular all purpose flour would probably work too, as the egg here is a binding ingredient.

      I would use a flax egg:
      1Tbs ground flaxseed
      2.5 Tbs water
      Let it congeal for 10 min!
      Also, Bob's Red Mill had a great egg substitute

    Just made some for a test as we have several vegetarian guests tomorrow, absolutely wonderful !!! It's an open secret that quite a few vegetarian "meats" you will find in stores are very heavily processed with tons of additives, but this is super-tasty without processed ingredients.

    I made a batch last night and they turned out delicious. I had no parsley so flavored it with nutmeg and garam masala instead. While I made the round balls I ended up flattening them slightly in the pan to make small patties and fried them in small batches about 5 minutes per side. The next batch I make I would double the tomato sauce but otherwise a recipe I will use again. Cheers.

    Absolutely yummy! I used cannellini beans as I didn't have garbanzo beans and it worked beautifully! Also, I didn't fry them (too much fat) but cooked them in the oven instead!

    I made this. Did not have bread crumbs. So I used wheat germs and nutritional yeast instead. Did not have onions, so I used the white part of leeks and half a shallot. Tastes absolutely delicious! Muchisimas gracias!

    I had some leftover ground beef with pasta but it's not enough for a meal for two for today. So I made these balls to add into it. Used dried chickpeas that soaked overnight and I cooked till soft. They are so easy and yummy. Thanks so much!

    This looks delicious! At Christmas my family have a (deliiiicious, veg but not vegan) breadcrumb meatball from Italy and this might be the year I find a replacement worthy of the name! (I wonder for those of us who avoid eggs if it truly needs it as felafel don't typically. Great suggestions for egg replacer below if it does need binding.) Thanks for sharing!

    I'm glad you like the Goya chickpeas. I've tried various brands, some more expensive and "organic," but they're hard as pebbles and no amount of simmering changes that. The Goyas are always flavorful and tender-almost no seasoning is required.

    I just made them, and they turned out to be very tasty! I cooked the chickpeas myself, perhaps this makes it even better than using the canned ones. Due to the lack to Spanish red pepper I used some Indian spice mix containing chili.

      @@TaLeng2023 They're canned garbanzos, but if you use dried ones, then yes soak them.

      @@TaLeng2023 Yes, I soaked them overnight, then they need only about 20 minutes of cooking.

    Finally after two months trying vegetarian foods I could say I was happy to eat this tasty dish. I didn't like so much Indian recipes I have tried but this I like very much. Good job. I have to check more from you and Spanish cuisine.

      @@SpainonaFork we are mainly vegetarian and this fits right in. My husband loves Spanish food. He lived in Barcelona and went to art school there. These food remind him of his years in Spain. Thank you for sharing your recipes. The potato tortilla (frittata to me) is his favorite of your recipes but I think this one will be a favorite too! 🌟

    This is a great recipe! All instructions are clear and the taste was fantastic! To keep the balls crispy I would suggest putting them in the airfryer for 5 minutes before serving them with the sauce
