I learned how to drive stick in a 2009 Subaru impreza with the #3 cylinder blown out making no compression. It was just a little bit faster than the geo didnt get as good mpgs. Also had to feather the throttle while coming to stop or sitting at a light so it wouldnt die. And sometimes when you would put it in neutral to coast it would die or in a corner it would die
you didnt mention how much damn fun those metros are fun to drive! years ago i was having my truck engine rebuilt and the mechanic loaned me a metro to use for 5 days holy crap it was so much fun it was a stick and i swear it was like driving a glorified go cart. i remember when i went to pick up my truck i took the long way there for my last ride.
@@richardkaltenbach3961 gonna try to get a dark blue automatic ‘92 hatchback 2 door from a Vancouver island junkyard where I live. Gonna go with a fresh test battery & compression gauge, been sitting for 10 years in the way back, wish me luck. Charming little car.
I bought a new Metro 3cyl stick in 94. In 2 years I put 210K miles on it. I’d get off work in Salem, OR on a Friday evening and drive to Los Angles, CA. I’d sleep and jump in my pickup to read the meters on our oil wells. I’d leave early on a Sunday morning and drive back to Salem. It was 900 miles One way and took me 12 hours. The only time my Metro saw 55mph, is when I’d be going up to 85mph. Climbing the mtns, I’d be in 3rd gear on the floor. I could do the Grapevine in CA in 4th gear doing 65mph. After 2 years I hired someone to read the meters. That Metro was more reliable than my Honda. I never had a problem with that car. It ran like new 2 years later when I sold it.
Got myself a 4dr 5spd 94 and logged 64mpg! Got it for cheap and just bought a 92 same running and using it for parts for the 94 so if anyone is interested in the 92 4dr auto let me know. Clean title in San Diego. Love live the GEOOOOOs
I am now on my 8th metro since first purchase of 1994 all have been 5 speeds and 300K mile cars before retiring will never own an Automatic Only a Stick 5 speed at 70 mph and 65 mpg do all of my own timing belt changes . Current model is a 1993 used as a tow car behind a Motorhome at 89,000 mi and was in storage since 2017 Looking forward to another great MPG car
I just picked up a 92. Learned to drive manual on the way home. It’s such a fun car. Already got a weird look after they saw a 280lb 6 foot guy in that tiny thing. My job is less than a mile away. I put Plus in it to feel like a badass. I’ll be on that same tank for a while I hope.
@@animaljam1231 holy crap same, im 6 foot 180lb and my friends make fun of me for driving tiny cars. whats funny is i fit in my 99 metro better than a lot of other cars. embrace the weird looks because your getting 3 times the gas mileage than they are.
I have a white one that I rebuilt from the ground up.Gets to 75mph easy on the flat land. Blows cold a/c and the radio works. I use it to power my house when PG&E shuts off power. 🤪 is yours still for sale?.

Can you imagine if he had hit like a small child!? It'd total that metro but the kid would be fine, barely an inconvenience.

4-Door Hatchback.
I like it
Music?
Seeing your thumbnail I thought you were a chick
Single tank of gas lasts 3 months and you won't die in a car accident because it doesn't go fast enough to do any real damage
Not According To The CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL!!!
