Also coined the strongest usmash in the game. Some more in-depth opinions on which is better Magnet - Magnet has much less combo untility compared to ness, only allowing really magnet to datk at 0. - magnet is the safest non-projectile move in the game (more so than Mario's atks, Lucario aura nair, shotos nair etc.). allowing for plenty of shield pressure. it is 0 on shield, so you can magnet the top on their shield and if they dont have an option oos faster than frame 7, u can uair them (which is also safe). - Magnet apparently can auto turnaround at times, I'm not too knowledgeable about how it works though. - when the opponent is airborne, the pull increases dependent on the opponent's percentage. Good for anti-ledgetrapping, reverse edgeguarding ( pulling them into a bair). Thunder - the term you didn't use was that it's transcendent. Its a much better edgeguarding tool but a much worse juggling tool. also when recovering it won't hit opponents and make you fall to your death. Pk thunder 2 also has trouble with all hits connecting too. Pk fire - when pk fire cranks with another projectile it actually explodes and makes a burst towards the enemy actually hitting them. Not sure if ness does that. - It also pushes lucas a bit in the air (similar to gunner fair, corrin bair). (also not sure if ness does that) - airial version has much more landing lag (as its meant to be used further away compared to ness's) - outside of playing idiots, it's mainly used as an edgeguarding tool (also tech chasing and jump callouts), and can actually kill decently early. Uair - While both have amazing combos, his is a single hit making it so they won't fall out (#fixmultihits). It has a decent disjoint on the back of the head allowing for his uair to actually beat palu's nair. - Although ness's uair kills a lot earlier than lucas's utilt - Lucas's is faster, acts similar to a zss utilt by being a quick get off me tool and putting the opponent into the air. - Although has much less combo ability, with the only combos being frame perfect fh uairs at low-mid percentages. - Ness's has a sour spot that may be hit against grounded opponents, while lucas's sourspot is the delay hit (meaning if you get hit by the horizontal hitbox while grounded, it will always pop the opponent into a sweetspot.) Datk - lucas's can hit under the ledge (but not all characters) Ftilt - Is pretty disjointed but isn't that long. - Solid 2 -framing move/extended ledge hang. - The sweet spot kills a bit earlier, but the sourspot doesnt really kill at all. (Although ness's ftilt is surprisingly strong). - is -8 when spaced, making link's upb the only move in the game that can punish it on shield when spaced right. (Ness's is -17) Neutral b - Ness can actually combo from his bc of the high freeze frame (if he lands it close). Fsmash - lucas's also reflects projectiles slightly sooner, although for slightly less duration. SH/FH time - It takes ness a lot longer to do sh, fh, shff, fh ff. one of the reason's why he can spam so much Other/Gameplay/Who should you chose - Lucas has: Better edgeguarding with all aerials being amazing(dair you don't have to time, bair spikes and is disjointed and lasts relatively long(good at reverse edgeguarding, nair is really good at dragging opponents, fair is really strong), and all specials being useful. Better recovery with tether and long upb. He typically plays more defensively (although he can play both very well), but he can't "spam as much", many of his moves has tipper so u have to space and his burst options are kinda meh (pivot filt > datk all the time and dash grab is kinda bad). Although technically his moves are safer on shield, but ness can "spam more" making them harder to punish. He doesn't have as many true combos, mostly mixups are harder techs like dair loops, nair loops, djcz loops, dtilt loops. In general, it's harder to close stocks with Lucas. Lucas's oos isn't as good with frame 10 nair, frame 12 fair, frame 1-8 invincible usmash that comes out on frame 28 (tank through spammers), while ness's nair is frame 8 and has a better hitbox and sets up for tech chases. While i don't think there is one that is exclusively better, as both has there strong points and it comes down to a matter of playstyle. I’m not sure about Ness, but Lucas’ forward smash also reflects projectiles, but you gotta hit it at the right time. Really fun to use, and I love the little clubbing sound it makes when he hits someone with the stick lol
Ness’s PK fire slopes downward when fired from the ground, and I don’t know quite how to phrase it, but the trajectory of ness and lucas feels different depending on the angle you hit them with pk thunder. I haven’t played either of the mother series characters much, but it might just be the speed at which pk thunder flies which confuses me when i play ness or lucas.
I think PK Thunder by itself always hits the same way. Ness will hit you mostly upward, but also inward. Lucas will hit you away from stage, but it is also confusing with all of the tail hits.
They have the same bodies essentially and both rely on PSI, which is why they're so comparable. They're pretty different but it's not that hard to compare them. It is amazing though how they borrow almost no animations between each other now.
I play Ness more, but I've always have. I still play Lucas a lot though. One thing is I believe they gutted Lucas' down throw in this game. It sucks that in a game where they buffed all of the other characters burrowing moves, Lucas was the only one who got his severely nerfed.
@@chilly2126 I mean...you can combo into fair or bair after the double jump, at lower percents it combo into itself, it all depends on where the opponent will be. Also Nair is a ok move OoS
PK Thunder (Lucas) has more angles when recovering and Lucas can recover from almost anywhere. It’s crazy how keep I can go below stage and still make ledge.
Yeah that’s why, while I love Meelee, I like the original Smash and Ultimate better. I feel like they did a fantastic job at recapturing just how devastating his attacks were in the first game while vastly improving his overall mobility.
It's so cool that Nintendo made these characters pretty different. They could've easily gone the route of so many other characters and just made them close to identical, with only a couple of differences, but instead we got two fairly distinct characters despite Lucas essentially having the same body as Ness. I do think that they could be a _bit_ more unique though. Mother 3 has a PSI ability exclusive to it - PK Ground. It would've been nice for Lucas to take advantage of it, most likely as a final smash seeing as it is pretty expensive and powerful in Mother 3. Now if only it had a more satisfying name... Even "PK Earthquake" would be better. Furthermore, the defining gameplay role of both Ness and Lucas in their respective games (as well as Ninten in his) is support. They can't actually use the offensive abilities that are PK Fire, PK Thunder, and PK Freeze. Their spell list mostly consists of healing, shielding, buffing, countering, and status-inducing spells. They have so many different ones that it's a pity none of them are represented. Either Lucas or Ness could have PSI Magnet replaced with something like Shield (a shield that you can move with?), Counter, Paralysis, Hypnosis, OffenseUp, DefenseUp, or LifeUp. Also shouldn't Lucas' PK Thunder be yellow? The visual effect for PK Thunder is yellow in Mother 3.
If you're in a giant stage and use Ness' Final Smash It will appear in the middle of the stage but Lucas' Final Smash will appear where Lucas is standing.
Lucas has three kill throws at varying percents. Backthrow killing earliest, followed by upthrow and then forward throw. Also good to mention that if Ness' thunder is hit offstage he'll die but Lucas can still recover.
I don’t know anything about Earthbound, but is Lucas a less experienced psychic than Ness? There’s a lot of sweet/sour spots with Lucas’ moves while Ness seems to have a greater control as far as consistency goes. It almost comes off like Lucas has trouble regulating his power. If that’s so, it’s a really good way to integrate character into his move set. At least that’s how I interpreted it. I’ve always preferred to play as Lucas, personally.
There’s a lot of really cool movement tech you can do, I know specifically with Ness you can do some double jump cancels with magnet or PK Fire to change trajectory, and Magnet is also good to stall for a second to mess up someone’s timing. You can also bounce yourself off the side of the stage with a PK Thunder 2 to do another PK Thunder as a recovery mixup
It’s kinda simple aerials are different, Thunder for Ness doesn't hit multiple times, Fire for Lucas knows you back and pushes Lucas if used in air (Little) Moves are different and B-Moves. Edit: Oh yeah sorry about Smash attacks and Tilt my bad.
Their Forward are both of them reflectors, Ness’s is is slower but is one of the most powerful reflector of the game and Lucas’s comes quicker but is less powerful ( they don’t have sweet spot for reflecting)
I'm pretty sure Lucas's smash attacks is him using PK Love, taught by the Magypsies Where as Ness uses PK Rockin in his attacks, which he learned and taught himself-
Okay, after watching this, I can say these 2 are way less similar than I initially thought. I always put Lucas down as a "Semi-Clone" but if I may be honest, I'm not sure if that's really accurate.

Ness: You are only a doubl-
Lucas: *I SAID DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT*
Lucas: Well at least mine can kill offstage and anywhere
Lucas's PK Fire actually technically has 2 hits (as shown by the training mode combo counter)
@@zoruasgang740 ness pk fire is spamable
Psionics 321 So can Ness’s, if you get pk fired offstage, Ness can go for a down-air spike
@@alphalupus7527 i meant PK Fire by itself meaning follow ups aren't part of it. Ness PK Fire can't kill by itself is what I meant
What's between difference Ness and Lucas?
EVERY MOVE
Ness has a 2x power multiplier on his bat reflection while Lucas only has a 1.5x power multiplier.
Ness: hey Lucas, wanna hear a joke?
Lucas: ok, what is it?
Ness: YOUR MOM HAHAHAHA
Lucas: dude that meme is so dead
Ness: like your mom :)
EDIT: Part 2
Lucas: well at least I’ve seen my dad
Ness: well at least I can appreciate my sibling!
Dang... 💀
Ness clearly destroyed Lucas in this comment .-.
I was looking for a main but couldn't make up my mind, after several months of reflection and trying out I'm now a happy Lucas main 🥳
plz don't PK Freeze me
I think you should've mentioned that they have the longest traveling airdodges in the game
I used an easier dodging spirit on Ness once, and it looked like another double jump 😆
I love both of them, mainly because of recovering with the recover,it's just so satisfying
I’m not sure about Ness, but Lucas’ forward smash also reflects projectiles, but you gotta hit it at the right time. Really fun to use, and I love the little clubbing sound it makes when he hits someone with the stick lol
"Now let's talk about their smash attacks"
*Starts Playing Smashing Song of Praise*
You Mother-
Lucas crying in the corner because you said mother
Also you are one of my favorite channels. You just so good at that
Bro can't believe you didn't talk about Lucas having 3 kill throws.
"Ness's back throw is pretty good. "
UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE CENTURY
Ness’s PK fire slopes downward when fired from the ground, and I don’t know quite how to phrase it, but the trajectory of ness and lucas feels different depending on the angle you hit them with pk thunder. I haven’t played either of the mother series characters much, but it might just be the speed at which pk thunder flies which confuses me when i play ness or lucas.
I think PK Thunder by itself always hits the same way. Ness will hit you mostly upward, but also inward. Lucas will hit you away from stage, but it is also confusing with all of the tail hits.
Lucas and Ness fighting in the air it's something that I never thought I would see
8:17 those screams lmao
I think the fact that Ness becomes a human missle is more hilarious 😆
"This isn't the type of move you'd want to spam."
*My casual ass shuffles away*
Alex.EXE: Their dash attacks

Ness' debut in Europe was in 2013, while Lucas still haven't released in his home series outside Japan
These two have little in common. They are completely different characters unlike Marth and Roy.
I think it's because visually they do look kinda the same although yeah Roy is too similar to Marth than Lucas is to Ness
Kiz Epic Journey Marth and Roy are very, very different characters Marth relies on controlling space and Roy is rushdown.
They have the same bodies essentially and both rely on PSI, which is why they're so comparable. They're pretty different but it's not that hard to compare them.
It is amazing though how they borrow almost no animations between each other now.
@@Trybel Not different enough.
K-leb baby
The up special is like the falcon and ganondorf. Falcon kness does strong knockback, while ganondorf has a punch that does less knockback.
I play Ness more, but I've always have. I still play Lucas a lot though. One thing is I believe they gutted Lucas' down throw in this game. It sucks that in a game where they buffed all of the other characters burrowing moves, Lucas was the only one who got his severely nerfed.
ScarfFox and Friends his F, B and Up throws are all kill throws. Down isn’t a big deal.
@@hecetewest5411 I rather have a single kill throw and another Throw that helps get you to kill percentage than 3 kill throws.
Lucas: I am better than you!
Ness: And what, will you celebrate with your family?
I like lucas personally. Also another difference is using Pk fire in the air. Ness' will go diagonally downward, while lucas' stays horizontal
6:38
Lucas PK Fire looks like hes doing a Kamehameha.
5:15 at around say 30 on ridley lucas can combo 4 up airs into each other for 50 percent. You really underrated this move
Yeah it's a really fun move
It's my favorite move when I go lucas
@@chilly2126 I love using Fair and Nair
@@smashssf2_ssbc15 I like bair more than nair. Nair just feels like it has such low hit stun and I can't combo with it
@@chilly2126 I mean...you can combo into fair or bair after the double jump, at lower percents it combo into itself, it all depends on where the opponent will be.
Also Nair is a ok move OoS
PK Thunder (Lucas) has more angles when recovering and Lucas can recover from almost anywhere.
It’s crazy how keep I can go below stage and still make ledge.
I did not know that up and down mechanic with Lucas's final smash.
Ness and Lucas's F-Smash can also reflect projectiles with Ness-Reflected-Projectiles being stronger than Lucas-Reflected-Projectiles
It's simple
One has eyebrows
and the other doesn't have eyebrows
oh god oh frick I can’t unsee it
Eh it's the Charlie Brown design thing lol
My favorite series on your channel by far! There are more instances like this so keep it up until every clone is covered!
5:36 Did Ness say get f**ked😂
No, he said:” PK Flash “
Ness was a character I used to never play back in N64 and Melee days but he is now my main. Oh how the turntables
simple, one has a nightmare life and one has a sad life
I found the sour spot of Lucas's fair to be useful. At low percent towards the ground, it can combo into neutral jab
You mained Ness in Melee? God rest your soul...
Yeah he was trash in that game
He didn't even main the PK Boys. He mained a PK BOI.
Yeah that’s why, while I love Meelee, I like the original Smash and Ultimate better. I feel like they did a fantastic job at recapturing just how devastating his attacks were in the first game while vastly improving his overall mobility.
It's funny to look at Lucas while he's doing Pk Fire and think he's about to do a Kamehameha :v
I prefer Lucas cause his taunts and victory poses are hilarious but not only that his FS is pretty useful👍
Me and my late brother Mained ness and Lucas and the differences between them for us was our strongest advantage. We we’re so in sync it was nuts.
Sorry for pointing out this tiny detail, but Lucas's final smash i think has more attacks than ness, but does less damage and travels faster.
Is It Possible To Only Land The 2nd Blast In Lucas's Down Smash?
The difference is that Ness has a Mom.
💀💀💀💀💀
Lucas has a present father
@@seibetsu Oh yeah, the same father that abandoned him for most of his life to look for his presumed dead brother?
@@jasonfakename4851 salty that Mother 3 is better
I've been playing Lucas more than Ness lately and I've discovered that sourspot combos are very useful
If you're in a giant stage and use Ness' Final Smash It will appear in the middle of the stage but Lucas' Final Smash will appear where Lucas is standing.
so its pretty much sonic vs knuckles
More like comparing Sonic and Shadow
Another thing about their Final Smashes.
Ness's is more for killing more opponents
While Lucas' is for killing a single person.
What’s the difference between fox 🦊 and Falco 🐦?
Falco has a high jump
And fox is alot faster
@@Boom12345XD and fox has the fastest falling speed
plus other attacks (specials, aireals, tilts and jab, throws too)
@@doublecrate2490 ya I'm just to lazy to talk about attacks
Fox has speed.
Falco has power.
Lucas has three kill throws at varying percents. Backthrow killing earliest, followed by upthrow and then forward throw.
Also good to mention that if Ness' thunder is hit offstage he'll die but Lucas can still recover.
Well first of all, Ness has a bat
Lucas has a very powerful stick
Like the games, ness equips bats while lucas uses sticks (he can equip 2 bats found near the end of the game)
All the background was me hearing “pk fire” god I hate that move
I laugh at those who think Ness and Lucas are the exact same. (Mostly my friends though)
Simple Ness has a coward dog
Lucas has a dog THAT TRAVELS TO SAVE THE WORLD.
Who do you guys like better Ness or Lucas I like Lucas better in my opinion
I've become a dead meme for the smash bros and undertale fandom, and Lucas has become a dead meme for the Mother 3 fandom. Any questions?
Hey if the meme is dead its not here anymore
There’s a lot of really cool movement tech you can do, I know specifically with Ness you can do some double jump cancels with magnet or PK Fire to change trajectory, and Magnet is also good to stall for a second to mess up someone’s timing. You can also bounce yourself off the side of the stage with a PK Thunder 2 to do another PK Thunder as a recovery mixup
maybe forgot to say that both fsmash reflect proyectiles
Haven't played ultimate for a few months, and just picked up Lucas. Holy shit is this character fun.
You should have mentioned which attacks are PSI. This allows G&W to absorb them.
Starstorm funfact: Ness always comes out the center of the map while lucas's is based above him
Their Forward are both of them reflectors, Ness’s is is slower but is one of the most powerful reflector of the game and Lucas’s comes quicker but is less powerful ( they don’t have sweet spot for reflecting)
Lucas>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>other super smash bros ultimate characters
Lucas main, no shame
Cade-O Potato He’s my main (also Sonic)
Lucas is underrated as hell, he deserves better
SMASH ssf2_ssbc yeah nobody plays him and that sucks
You forgot to mention how lucas' final smash spawns on top of him while ness is in the middle
I just noticed that Lucas has eyebrows and ness doesn’t
I'm pretty sure Lucas's smash attacks is him using PK Love, taught by the Magypsies
Where as Ness uses PK Rockin in his attacks, which he learned and taught himself-
Okay, after watching this, I can say these 2 are way less similar than I initially thought. I always put Lucas down as a "Semi-Clone" but if I may be honest, I'm not sure if that's really accurate.
Yeah they used to share some moves too like up air, but now they're quiet different
I prefer Lucas tho
They're not even close.
