Yeah I know it's kind of weird honestly. How the hell is a bird lighter than a Fox, let alone most of the mammals on the roster. Also his up-B also SUCKS as a recovery, he really should have gone into how much worse it is than Fox's, despite being a species of bird that can definitely fly if only breifly.
Also, while Fox’s reflector protects him everywhere, while Falco’s attack is only in front of him, meaning he can’t protect himself from projectiles behind him.
@@Superemie401Fox uses the Reflector the way it's supposed to be used, and covers him from every side, while Falco tries to be "cool", by kicking it towards the opponents, so it's more like a boomerang, that has reflective properties, but Falco can cover himself from all sides with his down Smash attack, by doing the splits, and dodging. "Falco Phantasm" sounds cooler than "Fox Illusion". I just wanted to throw that in there. Oh, and in case nobody told you, "hands off my prey!"
Falco has been my main for as long as I can remember. I actually get a lot of crap from friends for only playing as Falco and they say I’m basically only sticking to one character and it’s not fun that way...idk I just love playing as him
Honestly I kinda like where Fox and Falco are at now. They´re both from Team Star Fox so it makes sense for them to fight similarly, but Falco still got his own flavor over the years which makes him fight pretty much how I´d personally envision him fighting.
I agree with you. If Slippy or Peppy was Fox’s clone instead of Falco, it’s very likely it would be logic that they fight similar to him. They, alongside Falco, are Fox’s teammates, after all.
Fox is a rushdown character that relies on speed, pressure and mixups to get damage and bait bad decisions Falco is more combo oriented having more true combos but having a much harder time getting due to his slower speed In neutral Fox relies on nair, dash dancing fast falling and mix ups Falco uses more lasers to force approaches and fishes for combo starter, up tilt falling nair or up air, down tilt and grab Fox gets very little from grabs outside of a bit of damage and stage positioning and has no kill throws Falco has grab combos from 0 until kill percent and sometime back throw at ledge can kind of kill Fox uses his speed to land raw hits or uses nair to up smash and dair to up smash Falco kill confirms from dair, uptilt and sometimes down tilt as a raw kill move, he also tend to try to edge guard with his long lasting hitboxes. Fox’s recovery has more startup on both of his recovery moves side b and up b and he falls very fast therefore relies on them a lot to get back to stage making him easy to edge guard. He also uses down b to mix up his timing. Falco is floatier and can use his high jump height to mix up his recovery. His up b and side b while having shorter range are faster on startup making it harder to react to. Fox tends to do better competitively thanks to his speed and mix ups and has top level representation in the form of Light Falco has a much harder time comparatively but he can snow ball just as well or even better when he finds his combo starters
Fun fact, Sakurai mains Ganondorf and there's videos of him playing as him in Melee and Brawl. It's probably why Ganondorf is still so similar to Falcon.
Difference between Fox and Falcon: When Fox hits Wolf it will saying something different, for Falco he says something else if he hits multiple opponents
the thing is that they are not. The reason most of their moves are similar is more of a canon reason. All three spacies have similar kits. Also, has a much different playstyle than Fox, I should know, I main Falco and Fox plays different.
Some other things i'd add on, note I don't really play either character, but oh well. Dtilt - fox's combos datk - fox's combos and is like 4 frames faster Nair - falco's seems to have more trouble with hitting especially oos from my testing fair - I know that fox can do drags down can't remember if falco can. Reflector - Pretty sure falco's increases the speed of the projectile making reflector wars less common. - also falco's is unsafe on hit much of the time. - Might as well add that falco's is frame 1 reflector making it the fastest reflector Throws - Falco has actual combo throws with u/dthrow (not sure if throw can be di'ed), but u can do dthrow run fair, and u-throw anything. - Falco's typically never get to kill from a throw since the 2nd shot can be easily di'ed or just miss. I personally have never died to one and I just di inwards/ to the side. Gameplay - Fox has a much better neutral with many attacks safe on shield, increased speed, fake outs etc. - Falco's strength is his punish game, resulting mainly from the usage of u-tilt and many atks that kinda combo into it (n-air, falling u-air). - Falco seeks to keep opponents in the air his best in the game DJ, good fh and amazing airs. - falco can edgeguard better with having a slower fall speed, actual spike, sideb that spikes., drag down nair and higher fh so he won't have to reply on their terrible upb. -
Both F-Air can drag down opponents. Falco is technically better because of having less landing lag BUT the landing hitbox makes it unreliable at higher percentages if you mess up, which is easier with that lower falling speed. He also has less set knockback on his F-Air multihit, so he cannot much out of it; altough a D-Smash confirm at high percents is something nice to have.
Are you ok? Wolf is very much different from Fox almost to the point where they’re unrecognisable from each other. I’d argue even Mario and Luigi are more similar the Fox and Wolf
