bruh the pac-land stand is complete garbage
I miss Pac-Maze so much :(
@@AlexEXE me too :'(
Honestly Pac-Maze should of been on both the 3DS and Wii U versions of Smash 4 so it could return to Smash Ultimate
To be honest I think of all the stages mentioned Pac land is one off the "best" (don't get me wrong it is still terrible). I don't think the platforming is that bad as far as scrolling stages go, it is just that the stage looks horrible. I'm sure if this was the Minecraft stage everyone would love it for no reason. For ultimate while I don't think there is new terrible stage I don't find the stage standard that high either, most stage really REALLY lack dynamism. The DLCs added the incredible spring stadium and made my wish come true by adding azurda as a stage (I don't care about xenoblade by the way) but the other stages are really meh. I think the 3DS list was way better.
@SHON It's because Maze has that gimmick that requires each player to have their own screen so...
To give insight on Peach’s Castle, it’s actually called In the Sky of Peach Castle in the Japanese version hence why it’s in the sky above Peach’s Castle. I think they just wanted it to be more concise for the international version
Pac-Land may not be a great stage, but it’s really hilarious to surprise your friends if you know the fire hydrant secret and become giant.
What is it?
When the match starts and gets to the fire hydrants, push one by walking into it and you’ll grow big as if you got a mushroom.
Oh I didn't know that... Cool!
@@DeityShinobi It’s not working
@@DangerOctoYT I think it might be random thing , so try pushing all of them from all sides.
Someone making a custom stage for their first time: *allow us to introduce ourselves*
Ouch, I've felt that
Same
Lol I remember making a stage named George and was just a bunch of circles over a lava floor
😦 it’s a good thing I don’t know how to post it online
most custom stages are more playable than the retro game stages
The fact that they got rid of Pac-Maze for Pac-Land hurts..
Nice pfp/name idea
@cyleeisme Brawl Stars Dude why are you getting mad it's a compliment chill out
@Cyrus Brawl Stars I was just saying that I like his PFP because it's funny, no need to be upset over a compliment. that seems a little dumb, don't you think?
lmao this is just Morgz' family
I agree with you. Pac Maze is much better Pac Man stage than Pac Land.
“The first and most obvious is icicle mountain”... “N O”
I personally really like Mushroomy Kingdom because of the eerie vibe it gives off. How did a lively world such as Mario's turn into a deserted wasteland? It really makes you wonder.
Me too. Just the serene deserted place vibe was really cool for a Mario stage
I just hate the underground part.
I think it was made to resemble Sarasaland
@@juandavidamadomartin8015 I know just thought I'd be cool
I mean Mario has a desert world
If We tale the example of Green Hill getting dusted in Forces, than it's Just not being used
Mega Man 8's soundtrack is amazing
They weren't the best but they were pretty good
The soundtrack is at least good
One of my least favorite stages that was not talked about here is Norfair. It is just constant lava and when that tidal wave of lava comes in with that safe capsule that pops up in a random spot, I start freaking out.
It's really fun when you're playing with multiple people, especially for people who like stage hazards. Also the music is epic.
@@tjtg8861 Yeah, I tried it with multiple people and still hate that stage.
Ah yes, The Greatly Offensive Cave
It's also keeping me from beating all the Event Matches in Smash 4 Wii U. How in the world do you manage to grab enough food in the time limit without taking too much damage that forces you to need to eat even more food?!
Compucles I think that's one of few I never cleared either. It's so hard
@@Compucles Use Sonic?
@@MeesterTweester offensive cave
@@Compucles oh man, that challenge took me months to beat. I wasn’t playing it non stop of course, I’d just play it in between the other easier challenges. I was very happy when I finally got it done though
Also 75m isn’t even a good retro call back, why didn’t they choose 25m ? It’s wayyyy more iconic, and it’s lay out could work well in Smash.
Moray Towers feels more like an arcade Donkey Kong stage than 75m
Or why not the cement factory?
Or the stage with the falling Plattform?
As much as I like the "arcade" stages, it feels like they should be something more. I like the idea of being able to basically play mini-games while in a fight, but the problem is that it gets in the way of the fighting. I enjoy being able to play a sample of an iconic game, but I wish they did more with them. Give challenges associated with getting a high score, completing a certain amount of rounds or loops, anything! They _literally_ put the entirety of Pac-Land in Smash. Why can't I just play a Smash version of it? It feels like that's what event matches were made for.
As a side note, it's a crime that so many classic Namco songs were trapped in a stage nobody likes to play. If it weren't for that update a while back, I doubt anyone would be able to listen to them.
I feel the same way about Mushroomy Kingdom and also Duck Hunt, but Duck Hunt’s actually pretty good for a fight.
Honestly icicle mountain would work as a target stage, and rumble falls too.
Break the Targets only truly functioned as a side mode thru Melee due to the moderate roster size.
I'm still bummed out about a lack of substantial side modes in Ultimate for 1P.
Even in Wii U I would play Crazy Orders or even Smash Tour for the chaotic factor.
Grinding out the moves and trophies was more of an incentive than Spirits which are too simple.
Annoying fact about wrecking crew. If you use Ganondorf's final smash while on that stage in Ultimate, he turns into a tiny ganon. It was so weird that when I did it when the game first came out, I thought that it was what Ganondorf's final smash really was, a tiny ganon. I don't know if this was changed though, I just know it was that way in the beginning.
There's also a random glitch where if you get trapped in the drum, the moment the stage morphs, your character is stuck in the air with invincibility...forever. I learned that in an Ultimate Salt is Real video a very long while ago and I still remember it
@@AUTTY6242 Cool
That mushroomy kingdom map has always creeped me out. Its supposed to be colorful and happy, but it just feels dead, alone, like everything was destroyed. If someone were to tell me this background was from a creepypasta id even believe that.
Well; they do explain that the kingdom you once knew has turned to dust and been ruined and also rusted away over the long years apparently. Doesn't make it a good stage though. 75m; Rumble Falls; Great Cave Offensive; Hannenbow; Palutena's Temple; Hyrule Temple; Wrecking Crew; Rainbow Ride(don't even like that level in Super Mario 64); Pac-Land; Balloon Fight; hate all of those stages. But at least Peach's Castle fixed all the problems; and you can turn off bad stages. So you don't have to deal with Wrecking Crew; Balloon Fight; Pac-Land; or any of the bad returning or bad new stages you don't have or want to. And I don't even mind 8 Player Smash. I'd rather have had Poke Floats come back though. Despite how tense things got for me every time I played on it in Melee; and how I secretly hated it sometimes; despite how much I love Pokemon though. But there's no excuse for Pac-Land; Hanenbow; Wrecking Crew; Mario Bros. 75m; and especially Mushroomy Kingdom. Those stages suck. And for various reasons. As well as Great Cave Offensive(lives up to its name); Palutena's Temple; Hyrule Temple(fights take TOO long and it's annoying. Should've cut it in half or gotten rid of it; like Icicle Mountain). And Rainbow Ride? Did anyone like that level in SM64? I know I didn't. Should've used Bob-Omb Battlefield; maybe Tick-Tock Clock; even one of the 3 Bowser levels:Bowser In The Dark World, Bowser In The Fire Sea, and Bowser In The Sky.
Maybe something like: Tiny-Huge Island? Lava Lava Land? Or maybe, Shifting Sand Land? More Super Mario 64 stages wouldn't have been bad...probably. Also, what about the Ice stages like Snoman's Land or the other one I forgot the name of; with the crying baby penguin that everybody hates finding.
I actually love Mushroomy Kingdom's interpretation of 1-1 as a barren, desolate wasteland. Gritzy Desert's theme fits sooo well with it, plus Smash doesn't really have a lot of desert-like stages (Gerudo Valley being the only other one that kinda counts), so I'd say it's a welcome change.
I cant believe Orbital Gate Assault was not here
I have actually blocked that out of my mind. Thanks for bringing it back. My older brother would pick that stage and I would die more to platforms problems or explosions than anything else. What absolute abomination of a stage
Wasn’t that the stage that literally took one year to develop ? Besides I really loved this stage so nah
That stage was so damn awful, and that’s a shame because it was one heck of a spectacle
I'm entirely surprised you didn't include Starfox assault's stage on the wii u segment. It was notorious for being one of the most chaotic stage in smash history. Visually, it was absolutely stunning and gave a great spectacle for who was watching. But actually playing on it?.... yeah no. XD
Peaches castle 64 used to be tournament legal, lol
my personal theory is that all these terrible scrolling stages were originally part of some sort of scrapped "story mode" in Smash 4 or were simply cut from Subspace Emissary, and after they did all the work building the stages they thought "screw it, we'll just keep it in"
Nah, Smash 4 really went wild with the gimmicks, in some stages making them far more faithful to the source material, like: the gravity effect in Mario Galaxy, the power pellets and ghosts in Pac-Maze, Ridley’s battle in Pyrosphere, the many unique platforms in Wily Castle, the bombs, falling floors and drums in Wrecking Crew, etc.
Pac-Land (the game) is a side scroller, and I remember hearing it was a pioneer for 2D platformers as a whole, being inspiration for the very Super Mario Bros., so it makes sense for Sakurai to wanna immortalize this game in Smash with a side scrolling stage...too bad the stage itself sucks, many mechanics from the original games don’t really translate all that well in Smash, many were too intrusive to the battle itself that were super annoying, even for casual play, it’s almost as if the reason Omega forms became a thing was because they acknowledged how overly whacky they made many of the stages, and they didn’t want to annoy most players too much (chaos is fun, but not always), thank god they really toned that down in Ultimate, for the better, even Moray Towers is miles better than 75m or Palutena’s Temple, they also returned the hazards toggle (although it needs some fixing tbh), and gave every stage a Battlefield form so people that hate most stage layouts can enjoy more than just a bunch of flat surfaces
I think the original peach’s castle is one of the first official stages they added to the game, and so the reason why it has so many random elements is because they were quite experimental when making it.
Tbf, the only thing that truly feels out of place is that bumper at the very top, everything else reminds me a bit of the sky levels in Super Mario 64
I always feel bad for Hanenbow because it’s actually one of my favorite stages.
Same, honestly. And not just because "haha, funny green screen." I just genuinely like it.
Me to
Here's something that's always puzzled me about Hanenbow: Electroplankton is a music-based game, yes? So why does Hanenbow only have one song? Keep in mind that this stage was introduced in Brawl, where stages can have more than two songs to them. Heck, the Rhythm Heaven series has _three_ songs in Ultimate, and it's yet to have a single stage to its name.
I’ve Never liked Hanenbow But I understand why people like it
They should’ve cut hanenbow from ultimate to bring back Poké floats
13:28
"It becomes boring very quick"
Shows corrin
I guess you could say that Great Cave Offensive was so bad that it’s “offensive”.
PAC-MAZE may have not returned in Ultimate because of it using the “every player having their own screen” limitation of the 3DS to its advantage... but I still think they could’ve modified the stage to work with multiple players on one screen (like how Golden Plains was)
I played a tonne of Brawl as a kid, and I completely forgot rumble falls existed. I don't think me or my friends ever intentionally picked it.
"Moving on from Melee, we enter what I like to call the dark age of Smash-"
*cocks gun*
"-stages"
_slowly puts gun down_
Honestly the only reason people liked Brawl was because of its story mode. Without it mostly likely nobody would have cared for it. Slowest gameplay out of all the Smash games, the worst stages in the series, the worst in balancing characters and Tripping. I swear that the inclusion of a story, 3rd party characters and the music was what kept it from being completely forgotten.
@@kylewood4488-b9r Boss Battle, Stage Builder, Final Smashes, Assist Thropies.
And Brawl is the worst balanced, did you saw Melee, Kirby with escapable grabs, Marth with a theter, Jigglypuff back air and rest killing at 0, Peach down smash dealing 50% and breaking shield, Pokémon Stadium making you drop when you are walking, Mewtwo with a reflector that don’t reflect, Bowser down throw dealing 0% to Jigglypuff and Mr. Game and Watch, Ice Climbers freezing glitch, Roy attack having a longer animation than the active hitbox, and the list extend more
@@thewisthersgames 2nd worst balanced.
Fun fact: they remove 1-2 from ultimate
WHAT
More like not so fun fact
It was also removed in the 3ds Version Of Smash 4
I wish the "retro game" stages at least had updated graphics. Like, Summit and Wrecking Crew both look pretty nice while still representing their source games fairly well. Stages like Game Boy Dream Land, Balloon Fight, Pac-Land, 3DS Mute City, Duck Hunt, etc. just look ugly because they clash with the other in-game graphics. They come off as cheap, lazily-made stages that try to get away with reusing 8-bit assets by using nostalgia/faithfulness as a selling point. But it's not like Spiral Mountain and Great Bay use blocky N64 graphics. It's dumb how only the "NES era" stages get saddled with this curse. I'd much rather see these classic locations realized in updated graphics to create a unified look for all the characters and locations in Smash. In my opinion, if retro CHARACTERS get a facelift for Smash, then so should retro STAGES.
The two Smash 4 Wii U you mentioned, Palutena’s Temple and The Great Cave Offensive, I actually kinda like personally. The former for Palutena’s Guidance and for both being fun stages in my opinion. But I respect everyone’s opinion on both of these stages.
I love how Mega Man is in the tumbnail but Willy Castle didnt get included while imo it shouldve.
I'm surprised no mention of Dr. Wily's Castle. The Yellow Devil just DOMINATES the stage, it takes up so much room and respawns constantly. The fight becomes less of a Smash Bros. match and more "dodge the Yellow Devil until everyone else screws up".
It's not even a fun mixup like the Mario Bros. Arcade stage, it's just "okay calm down with the boss, man".
Peach's Castle
Bad in the original
Awesome and S-WEET in Melee
Fun Fact: Moray Towers is actually one of if not the worst splatoon stages in both games.
The funniest thing about Moray Towers is that there's plenty of Splatoon players that hate that stage in Splatoon. As someone who hates Moray Towers in Splatoon, it's nice that smash players hate it too, and for the same reason: Too damn vertical.
Jesus Christ Mushroomy Kingdom is extremely dark especially due to the fact that this is a mario stage I can only imagine the heartbreak for many NES players just having to witness a level they grew up with now in ruins it’s sad man :(
Personal least favourites:
N64: *Peach's Castle.* Same reasons you listed. It's too easy to die here
Melee: *Rainbow Cruise.* I'm surprised you didn't mention it. Whenever I play it with friends, we spend more time trying to keep up with the stage than fighting. *Icicle Mountain* for the same reasons you listed.
Brawl: *Rumble Falls* and *75m* for the same reasons you listed. *World 1-2 in Mushroomy Kingdom* because most fights just devolve into only fighting on the top layer and dying early because you're right next to the blast zone.
Smash 4: *Gaur Plains.* If the stage had been arranged the other way around, with the wide platforms on the bottom, it would have been perfect. But everyone I play against, new or not, instinctively avoids the bottom layers like the plague. *Orbital Gate Assault* because it's way too hectic. Imagine you're trying to recover, but all the platforms go away and you die. I lost a couple All-star matches because of that. *Palutena's Temple* and *Great Cave Offensive* for the same reasons you listed. Too big and too much. *Dr. Wily's Castle.* It quickly becomes 'survive Yellow Devil' rather than fight. *Pac-Land* for the same reasons you listed.
Ultimate: I actually have no problems with the new stages. It seems the developers drastically toned down the intensity of the stage design here.
I wish that in Ultimate, the hazards toggle only got rid of the Yellow Devil, the platforms should really stay, Wily Castle is just its Omega Form from Smash 4 without hazards -_-
This video just made me remember the poke floats stage and how much i loved it, they need to bring it back in smash up ultimate.
The triangular "lego pieces" in Peach's Castle resemble set pieces in Rainbow Ride, and the weird bridges are from Cool Cool Mountain. Yeah it's still weird to shove them all into a random floating structure, but at least the references are noteworthy.
I like brawl more than most people, but I really don't know what they were thinking with most of the stages. At least 80% of them were designed with some kind of one-hit KO hazard, that's what makes platform fighters fun
Mushroomy Kingdom is actually Bowser’s stage. It’s supposed to be 1-1 if Bowser reigned supreme. It’s even on the Smash Ultimate website for Bowser’s background.
Surprised because you didn't mention Poke floats, the sky from kid Ikarus or the Olimar stage from Brawl. But agreed with most of your choices.
Yeah they didn’t mention it for a reason. Pokefloats is the best stage in melee and should be tournament legal
2:34 N O
Mushroomy Kingdom is a great metaphor for Brawl as a whole - it’s a rehash where the lighting and saturation of every character and texture were turned to 0, completely ruining the aesthetic of the entire game
"Peach's Castle 64 is a really bad stage" "There were no other stages in 64 that could fit this" 1. Peach's Castle 64 is my favorite stage in any smash game ever, and I love playing on it, the bumper and the lego pieces add a lot of charm to it, and also, Mushroom Kingdom is literally right there
@Julio Paulino 1. By "charm" I mean jank 2. I was talking about the stage Mushroom Kingdom 3. I planned on listing numbers, but I forgot to
@Julio Paulino the one with the pipes that you can actually enter and the pit with the scale
So, now we all want the best stages, right?
Kalos Pokémon League
hanenbow and pokefloats are the only acceptable answers
Temple, no contest.
Northern Cave, Minecraft World (Because of the randomly generated layout and biome, it gives you a thought of what it's gonna be like when you choose it), Luigi's Mansion, and New Donk City Hall, those are four stages in my list
Pac-Land is the worst abomination ever conceived.
It is so easy to lose track of what is a foreground and a background element, what is solid and what isn't, and it's too zoomed in especially for a moving stage. I really don't know how this got past play testing... twice!
It also looks like it came from a ******** coloring book.
Now I'm going to share an unpopular opinion of mine: in a vacuum, gigantic stages aren't bad. The right kind of large stage can actually be fun just to mess around with and are nice fodder for optional arbitrary challenges, like the Hyrule Jump/Reverse Hyrule Jump on Hyrule Temple. With that in mind, I actually quite like Palutena's Temple as a stage. The problem arrises when those stages become loaded with mechanics that make the stage unfun to traverse, like the tiny platforms and abundant enemies on 75m or the lava zones of Great Cave Offensive. Gaur Plains is a bit of a weird case, because Metal Face isn't even all that big of a pain, at least not compared to the Yellow Devil, but the layout of Gaur Plains is the worst part of it; that huge gap of empty space in the middle just hurts the stage, and the small platforms underneath the large platforms are not any fun to jump around on. It makes me prefer the 3DS version of the stage.
Megaman 8, Megaman Network Transmission, Bomberman Hero? We're busting out all the underrated soundtracks today! Very fitting considering the "unpopular stages" theme, except unlike these stages the music's good.
And I'm happy my boy Orbital Gate Assault avoided the chopping block. It's so janky but I love the spectacle and the set-pieces to fight on way too much. Wish they brought it back in Ultimate and fixed the weird part where you'd fall off the 3 arwings during the transition if you didn't jump beforehand.
“75 m, yeah you all expected this one”
Me: “I didn’t expect it because it’s not one of the worst stage”
I’m not trying to say that New Pork City is a good stage but it is very big in Mother 3 and the background perfectly resembles it as well.
You forgot about Poke Floats. (;
I love Poke Floats 😪
ok
Poke floats is amazing though
I don't know if Poke Floats is good, but it was my favorite as a child.
Poké Floats is so weird it's good.
By a casual standpoint, I mean...
(6:15) Since it's metric, it isn't pronounced "75 em" but "75 metres". This is because metric symbols are pronounced by its full name. So the symbol "km" isn't "key-em" but "kilometer".
_please don't say Poké floats, please don't say Poké floats_
"Icicle Mountain" ok yeah makes sense
"Brinstar Depths" yep, same here
"Princess Peach's Castle" uh, ok I actually like this one
"That's it for Melee" thank god
One that I can’t stand is Skyworld. It’s a cramped mess that’s frustrating to recover on.
“This is one of the ugliest stages in the series”
The ruins are ugly!?
What a surprise!
I thought the RUINS would look like the work of bob ross
Palutena's Temple is amazing for 8 Player Smash if you're doing 2v2v2v2. I've had so many great matches that literally felt like wars where teams were each controlling territories. Obviously it takes a while but that's part of the fun.
Palutena's Temple could be split into four and it would still be four completely good stages.
To be fair, I do like Palutena's Temple more than the other big stages.
Great Cave Offensive and 75m can die in a hole
The only cool thing about PAC-Land is the how they made the forest section look like the characters are walking a little bit into the background, but everything else about it sucks.
I think Temple was the only truly good big stage. I think it works because it’s split into 3/4 distinct zones, but it’s easy to traverse between them. It makes the fight feel a bit more dynamic when you can change location, and it’s fun in multiplayer if you want to split into groups. I think Temple is even fun for just two players, especially if you’re sticking to one area.
Other big stages are just a mess of platforms. It’s hard to navigate to different areas and there’s just an overload of visual information. It also takes too long to chase down players running away.
Also being a huge stage is already a gimmick in on itself, another reason why Temple works so well is because it doesn’t disrupt the fight with anything other than it’s very own irregular terrain, which is also decently spaced out, making fighting and moving around that stage very fine despite its size, which is very important for a stage so huge, so when a large stage has other gimmicks, that automatically makes them a cluster because just moving around is already tricky
Peach’s Castle looks like everyone’s first stage they made in Brawl’s stagebuilder
I'm a little surprised Jungle Japes wasn't on here. I know I heard from others that they find this map annoying for its high-speed water hazards and small platforms. I don't really hate this map, but do find it annoying when you land in the water. Although the map is small and easier to grab onto the ledges, plus it is nice to look at.
I think Wily's Castle and Magicant are two of the worst, purely for their stage hazards. The yellow devil is really annoying, and the bird man is completely unfair in two player smash.
Turns out the reason why Mushroomy Kingdom exists is because of a pun. In Japan the Mushroom Kingdom stages from 64 and Melee with the retro designs are called "Ancient Kingdom", Mushroomy Kingdom is called "Ancient-like Kingdom" so instead of referring to the style of the design being ancient it refers to the kingdom itself being ancient and in ruins.
All to say, we are stuck with this ugly stage (that personally makes me very uncomfortable just looking at it) all because of a pun that only works in Japanese, Chinese, and Korean
I'm suprised that Yoshi's Island melee wasn't even mentioned. That stage makes people live FOREVER
Mushroomy kingdom is called: deserted mushroom kingdom, in Dutch
9:11 I personally always liked this stage, but it went down for me when they took away the night time version of the level
Pac Land is a map of skill and speed, testing your endurance and battle prowecess to it's fullest.
Not a single pixel is wasted, everything adding to your battle, serving as piece to use to your advantage to destroy your enemies.
Man im so glad you didnt put Orbital Gate Assault in here. That stage is uber fun
I like stages that move around a bit and varry the terrain, but I don't like anything that takes precident over my battle with my opponent, so scrolling stages (except for rainbow road for nostalgia's sake) are a no. and also stages that force 3d characters into the second dimension. that just feels wrong. and the retro stages. and great cave and palutena's temple are fun in certain contexts, but those are highly context sensetive. everything else is pretty fun for me, even big blue, especially big blue.
My man Alex keeping me loyal by not saying Poke Floats sucks.
Honestly, Poke Floats is one of my all-time favorites. The only negative thing I can say about it is that I've clipped through Seel a few times.
@@SuperGoker64 I haven't, because I avoid him 'cause I know how wacked out his collision detection can be. I usually stay on Venusaur until Wobbuffet appears, then I jump on Seel for about a second to get to Wobbuffet.
Yeah, I don’t get why some people hate it. It’s chaotic, but that’s the fun of it. A great stage for casual play, especially at parties. I’ve definitely gotten some good laughs out of it.
Shame it’s not in Ultimate. It would be a blast in 8-player Smash. Would also look really nice to see the sky in HD
@@thedapperdolphin1590 I know, right? My last remaining hope is that they'll add a past stages DLC pack or something, but that's prob'ly not gonna happen.
I was like "don't you dare put Poke Floats in here". I loved that one haha
75M would be a really fun stage IF IT ONLY HAD A BOTTOM FLOOR!
ps: The only reason why i love the Balloon fight stage is because i love it's battlefield/omega stage.
When I was a kid, me and my brothers LOVED rumble falls. Its probably because we didn’t know what we were doing, we didn’t even know to press up b to get back onstage, but looking back makes me sad, it pisses me off that something young me loved so much is so garbage. Fun times, although I still have brawl and play it fairly regularly.
Some are just utterly mind blowing that they made it into ultimate. Classics, for sure, but still terrible
If you make a best of this series.
I hope to see Magicant is on there, it’s fun and beautiful.
Scrolling stages should just follow the players, but only in one direction.
so underrated, should have over a million by now! i love your videos
75M is also what made that GODDAMN Pauline Spirit Battle so FUCKING infamous! I HATE THAT FUCKING SPIRIT BATTLE THUS I NEVER WANT TO GO THERE AGAIN!
On the balloon fight map I had 1 of the worst online experiences. It was a zero suit Samus who had items and camped me and it was the worst, in my opinion that's the worst stage
I expected him to talk about Gamer.
Gamer’s a good casual stage
Oh c'mon New Pork City isn't *that* bad. Sure there's quite a bit of empty space but the insta-kill Chimera is both an exciting hazard and a good reference to the game it's based on. It's also fairly easy to avoid unless you get caught next to one of their spawn points.
Really? Mushroomy Kingdom looks band? I honestly love this rendition of World 1-1. The desert landscape is a beauty to look at.
One I can't stand that you didn't touch on was Venom, it doesn't look good, and playing on the front-facing Great Fox is not fun, it's all solpes.
6:06
The leaf legit just moved up so he could not grab on,
like... COME ON
Surprised Venom wasn’t mentioned. That stage sucks, and I really don’t like playing it. Also Summit really isn’t that good.
I agree with pretty much everything said. However, as much as I loved StarFox's Sector Z, Link didn't function there. His jumping and recovery were such garbage it felt like he'd get stuck on the lower deck if he fell back there. Little Mac would've had the same problem if the sapce ship remained large.
Most "casual stages" are actually kinda cool but PAC Land Is hateful
at least 75m is accurate to the original game, being the worst level in the game
Great video as always Alex! I hope one day you do your personal favorite Smash stages!
New pork city is actually a really nostalgic stage to me, so i cant really hate it.
But hanenbow...
Man, you don't believe how happy I was to see Great Cave Offensive in this list. That stage is absolutely horrible to play on.
1:15 Peach's Castle, in Japanese, is actually called "Above Peach's Castle" (ピーチ城上空), so it's mostly the translators' fault for false advertising.
Do I hear Redial from Bomberman? You sir, are a man of culture
Great Cave Offensive didn't deserve to return
And that's a fact

Pacland was pretty much the first platformer, even Shigeru Miyamoto has said that Pacland was used as a base for Super Mario Bros.

Honestly, I find it hysterical that the same people who say Pac-Land is bad for its gimmicks and for being a scrolling stage are the same exact people who say Pokéfloats should return, which is exactly what they said Pac-Land was.
Though to be fair, Pac-Maze is better than Pac-Land by a long shot
Yoshi's Island Melee is such a dud. But I tend to think Smash stages are pretty bad in general. Just give us some simple but unique platform layouts! The gimmicks suck imo
