Hey everyone, thanks for watching! Just wanted to say real quick that with this video coming out not too long after The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's release, and this video not talking about that game, I'd really appreciate it if you could refrain from discussing ToTK spoilers in the comments. Thanks! If you do want to comment something that involves ToTK spoilers, please also include a little spoiler warning before-hand. People are still playing through the game, so please be respectful to those people as to not ruin their enjoyment!
Honestly if Young Link's Final smash was functionally the same as it is now except instead of dashing forward he shoots beams from the Fierce Deity Sword after trapping the opponent he'd fly so high up on my list of coolest characters.
I imagine it would have a similar starting animation but young link would put on the mask then after transforming he'd do multiple sword slashes like Ike or Meta Knights final smash
Toon Link's Final Smash could be a reference to the Four Swords games. He could split into four, launch forward and whoever gets hit gets pulled in and receives a barrage of swords swings from the four Links.
I was thinking the exact same thing, another cool idea is to give him the four sword instead of the master sword, so that all the links have completely different weapons.
That would make for a neat Down Special. Counter with a fast roll behind the opponent and strike! Or if the foe is backed up to a ledge or wall, Helm Strike! Channel your inner Twilight Link!
Toon Link should have also had a unique spin attack, since it was such a big deal in the WW series. I can just imagine TL players spinning like tops in quick play.
Not only has the 3 Link Problem bothered me for years, but as a Ganondorf main I love the idea of reworking his moves into Black Shadow and giving Ganon moves that better reflect his origins.
See that's the issue. Literally the only people rooting for Dark Black whatever are people that don't give two shits about F-Zero. This is an all-star fighting game. No one actually wants Black Shadow. Slightly rework Ganondorf but keep the feel the same, and instead put all that good canon nooch on the original blue pig Ganon as a newcomer.
@@tomdekler9280That sounds like a dumb idea. Just put Black Shadow in as Falcon clone and people will play as him anyway. Regardless of if they care about him or not.
@@quangamershyguyyz7166 What's dumb is putting development time into a character no one is hype for and brings no unique element, in a game where the main draw is that it's a crossover of gaming history. Ganon in his iconic blue boar form with the trident appears in 7 games, including the first three Zelda games ever. Where this Ganon is always shown doing variants of the A Link to the Past moveset, like throwing his trident, teleporting, shooting fire bats and causing earthquakes, Ganondorf has been a generic swordsman in three of the four games we've seen him in. That just leaves people wanting his Ocarina of Time moves, and those have all been done already by, you guessed it, Ganon. Energy balls you have to hit back? Ganon. Earth-shaking floor punches? Ganon. Floating? Ganon. In a game where we have three links and two zelda's, why can Ganon not have his far more iconic look that easily has more right to be a newcomer than _any other Zelda character_ ?
@@quangamershyguyyz7166 Villains are some of the hardest characters to balance in a fighting game, Sakurai had to reduce Ganon because of that. Ganon has the Triforce of Power, so for Smash he has a powerful moveset. However in the context of the fighting game how due you balance absolute power without being overpowered????? It's the similar reason why Ridley in smash is a bit smaller than his usually boss fights. Sometimes Sakurai will overly simplify a character for the sake of balance. Yes it is true that Sephiroth is faithful, but that's only because he's light weight in Smash. Ganon is way too bulky!!!!
The 3 Links doesn't bother me at all, what bothers me is how they all clones of each other and none have moves that represents their respective games, besides some visual tweaks. Looking at Hyrule Warriors, you see how much waste potential the Zelda characters are in Smash. He mentions Pokémon have bad representation but I think Zelda is even worse because at least Pokémon got new fighters each game.
Before Ultimate came out, I thought they would keep Green Tunic Link the same as SSB4, and introduce a whole Blue Tunic Link with a fully BOTW moveset as a completely separate new character Call him Champion Link or something. But then again, that would've been 4 total Links...
Ganondorf could always borrow from the Hyrule Warriors one. Big trident, magical energy, summoning shadow versions of his beast mode, etc. Seems like a great fit to me.
My guy that’s what I’ve been saying. The Zelda series has made two different fighting games where each character has a unique only to that character (and their weapon of choice) moveset that features I think everyone but Young Link (which is a given)
To set Link apart from his smaller brothers, they could also have him alternate between round and cube bombs, and also have a Monado-style menu for him to switch between fire, ice, shock and bomb arrows, while only having a limited number of those ones
yeah, as he charges his bow you move the stick to choose the type of special arrow, also I'd change his final smash to something like the Divine Beast death beam that happens when you save all the Divine Beasts before the Calamity Ganon fight
So basically like the Toon Link mod in Rivals of Aether. He can switch between different arrows and bomb types, and can swap between a boomerang and a grappling hook for side special.
Given the effort they went to implament Kazuya in such a faithful way, with his unique inputs and having by far the longest move list in Smash, it's even more disappointing the same effort wasn't given to these characters especially Ganondorf.
@@ChiggaChiggaBruhthat just comes off as being slightly lazy. I can see why they didn’t want to change it. But dood, He’s been a clone for 20 years already
@@HoseB932 Sakurai said that Ganon was never planed to be in Smash Melee. The only reason he was added is because this model matched Caption Falcon. In other worlds with out Falcon, Ganon wouldn't be in Smash in general.
@@orangeslash1667 That was during Melee. And while I DO appreciate he was added in melee (even if as a clone), it’s been 2 decades and the most they’ve done to change him was give him a few changes to some attacks and make him slower. And only in the latest game… let him use a sword. You could pull off NUMEROUS ideas with ganon for attacks. Hell, URIEN from Street Fighter 5 is closer to zelda ganon than smash ganon. For all the hype and praise for the game having “80+” characters with infinite potential… nah, they gave us a chance with melee but never really gave us a proper dark magician user (until Robin, who is actually one of the coolest characters imo)
I actually think making Young Link like his Hyrule Warriors counterpart would serve him really well. Not being able to use the shield and wield his sword like a two handed sword, with your final smash turning you into Fierce Deity like how Sonic could transform into supersonic would be really cool.
Honestly if they swap the kokiri sword with the great fairy sword, it be even better rep for Majora and its actually a sword he dual wields. Though, if they want to reference both i can see why they wouldn’t
I think it might just be a bias thing from sakurai, as a smaller franchise like fire emblem is ALWAYS getting new reps.... i find it kinda disgusting that is the case
It is such a love letter to gaming with 1000+ songs, 100+ stages, and 89 characters. That's what makes it more strange that some series have such strange or weak representation. It's pretty wild
@@Yorkshire42069 well you’re not getting that since ultimate isn’t getting any new updates and before you bring up a port to the next console there’s too many third-party characters linked to companies that are very strict specifically Square Enix and Disney so whether you like it or not The next smash Bros will be a new game
I think (Emphasis on think) the only weird thing with that idea is that most tethers are one handed, while grappling hook, in its most well known depiction, would be a two-handed tether. It's only made sense on luigi as the poltergeist can't actually snap to a ledge. So It might be a biiiit weird to implement. Maybe.
oooooo that grappling hook would be cool edit: also imagine if they could put in an animation where if you hold the button he'll keep swinging the hook around but won't throw it until you let go of the button :o
If you allow me to dream a little, I think two amazing additions to the roster would Impa, from Skyward Sword (who could be an echo fighter for Sheik), and Midna, obviously. I think that now that we have Tears of The Kingdom, there's some possibility for change in Link's and Ganon's movesets (specially ganon).
Back when I first played Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity I thought Age of Calamity Impa would be a great character, and now that I think about it, I honestly think that thought aged well because I think Age of Calamity Impa would be cool and also kinda unexpected.
Both of those choices would be really cool additions and an updated Ganon would be awesome. For me personally, I'd love one of the 4 champions (or even all 4 of them, though it's highly unlikely). If it came down to my choice it'd have to be Daruk since he's my favorite and I'd love to see what kind of moveset they could make with him. I could totally see him having some kind of roll move for added mobility and a final smash that involves piloting Vah Rudania.
As a suggestion for young link, Tie the masks to the shield + B input inkling uses. Basically he stays the same as current but when entering “mask mode” you transform and do the special associated with the mask, making a stronger version of the special Mask mode would only last one move and would basically add extra startup and end lag to a special but give it a lot of extra bang The input chain would be: Shield > B > Direction = Mask Special Edit: rather than pulling out and holding the explosive keg, I imagine goron link immediately chucks it but it won’t immediately explode if it doesn’t hit an enemy kinda like the barrel item, link then could pick it up and chuck it again or detonate it with the flame arrows
That’s a cool idea, I was thinking it could be a charge thing where holding the special button would charge it allowing him to transform and use a upgraded version of the move, but this could also be a cool way to do it.
A FS change I would make for Toon Link is to let his pirate friends have some fun. Not certain if it's a cinematic one or a "let's just bomb the stage" like they do at the Wind Waker stage, but I like to pretend it would also give Tetra some appearance in the game.
@@dwqafaefa... I forgot to mention that it'd act like Captain Falcon's final smash, the pirate stuff would all be a cutscene. It sounds more complicated than it is.
17:19 Hell, keep it functionally the same but he does it as the Fierce deity and shoots out the blade beams like mii swordfighter while he does it. Boom great Final Smash
I'd also love to see more taken from Hyrule Warriors. It did so much for so many characters like giving Ganondorf his trident from A Link to the Past and Sheik's harp turning into elemental attacks and it's amazing
Hyrule Warriors just did an amazing job overall on characters. Sheik, Ganondorf are examples, Young Link is absolutely perfect with his mechanic around Fierce Deity Mask, they gave Toon Link the Sand Wand with a lot of references to Spirit Tracks, and they even put Tetra in the game! (As Brawl wanted to do probably). If Smash devs wants inspirations for new movesets on Zelda characters they should just look at the work on Hyrule Warriors. Truly an amazing spin-off
@@tomdekler9280 I can get behind the second half of your statement, but will fight you to the death on the first. Ganondorf needs MAJOR, MAJOR reworking in smash. He is both a terrible representation of the character spiritually and one of the WORST characters in the game mechanically, and has been across every single entry since his introduction in melee. He needs to be taken back to the drawing board and COMPLETELY redone, purging every last sliver of "cpt. falcon but slow" from his moveset.
Omg the wolf link and midna was a missed opportunity, I can just imagine what their move set is, they’re a double fighter similar to ice climbers, I’d also like to see the up special be midna just yeeting link in the air and floating after him
For his final smash, I think Toon Link should use the train from Spirit Tracks. They could have him ride it forward a bit into a cutscene, where the train runs over anyone who got hit. That or they could bring in Linebeck to do something with his ship!
Since this one is specifically based on wind waker link, I’d say pull from phantom hourglass and wind waker for moves so the linebeck option would be better.
I'VE GOT IT!! Have his Final Smash be a cutscene one, where the opponent is bombarded by a barrage of bombs from Lineback, the Pirates and the Red Lion. 😤
I was myself thinking of Toon Link using a time orb, you know, against Phantom hourglass's final boss ? He stops the time and lashes out at his opponent ! But a Linebeck borbadement sounds great too
I think the idea of young link not really transforming, but just wearing the mask is badass. Honestly think it would be cooler than actually transforming. Also, link pulling out a powder keg out of his pocket would be really goofy looking, it would be much better than normal ass bombs
even tho I like the idea for these new YL specials, classic bombs and boomerangs are way too emblematic in the zelda serie to not be in one of the Link's kit so i think keeping them on YL would be just great even tho that would mean no changes
There's something to be said for maintaining original movesets. The work that went into balancing a character's animations should not quickly tossed. That said, BotW Link really could have afforded a Divine Ability based B moveset.
@Icemario87 tbf with the whole masks thing you could still reuse the animation with some slight tweaks it wod not be impossible. Or they can just steal other characters animations they arent really adverse to it. I'm also pretty sure Toon Link still uses his Brawl anims to an extent anyways same with some other characters
@@Icemario87furthermore a lot of the FGC characters don't even have new animations they use ones from their games. Ryu and Ken use some SFV animations and Kazuya uses some Tekken 7 ones. I have zero clue about terry tbf
in the fan game super smash bros crusade, they turned ganon into this dope wizard, where his neutral special was a chargable dead mans volley, with longer charge sending more projectiles. he also has a crazy upsmash where he holds his sword up and it shoots lightning onto it, in reference to demise from skyward sword. dude was absolutely amazing in that.
I can definitely see Wolf Link and Midna as a new fighter. Maybe have the Fused Shadow as their final smash, and the "field of darkness" thing that Midna does for a down special.
ever since Brawl, I've always wanted Toon Link's final smash to incorporate the windwaker like having the Ballad of Gales summon a typhoon would be brilliant
Yeah I was totally thinking that! It should be like Bayonetta or DK’s final smash where the player is incorporated into timing the final smash right. So when activated, the 4/4 spaces shows on the top and if timed right, the cyclones appears and attacks with the cutscene of whoever gets caught in it. That would’ve made better sense for his representation tbh
Another idea for Ganondorfs moveset: have him throw the trident ganon uses in the 2D games, it would then get stuck in the ground if it made contakt and then you could eather go and retrieve it or input the same button and it would come back, while spinning like it does in 2D zelda games.
Honestly the one change I would make here is that toon link should include representation from other toon Zelda games, for example I think the final smash should use the four sword, a taunt that makes link smaller like in the Minish cap ect
Perhaps as a sort of mini-series, you could go over all of the game IP’s with “a lot” of representation instead of “good” representation, and your suggestions on how to either tweak existing material or simply add/remove things; an example of something being tweaked could be some Pokémon getting moves based on actual Pokémon moves that they can learn, and an example of something being added/removed could be like substituting one stage for another, like subbing Unova league for Poké Floats, or just adding a completely new stage set in one of the more modern regions (an idea I had was to have a stage set in the wild areas of Galar, with stage hazards being both natural encounters of different Pokémon and natural events that would play out like sandstorms, perhaps even a special event that references the unique Dynamax mechanic where a random Pokémon from the background would suddenly turn giant and go on a rampage, with trainers in the background fighting it and the players just being caught in the crossfire. The Dynamax event would occur alongside the arrival of the darkest day and Eternatus, since Eternatus is the source of all the Dynamax energy and that event is what made wild Pokémon Dynamax in the first place).
Personally, I think it would be awesome if the main Link was set up like a composite of multiple incarnations rather than being based on one specific Link. He could have unique animations for his moves showing him using items from across the series, and his alternate costumes could be each based off different incarnations like The Hero of Time, Twilight, Sky, etc, so people can play as their favorite Link.
What made me a little disappointed is that they didn't even update Young Link's appearance to his MM version. I can understand why he was the way he was in Melee, since in that game all the Zelda characters were matching, but they don't anymore. So the very least they coud have done is simply change the look of his equipment - Razor or Gilded sword, Hero or Mirror shield, Hero's bow, gold hookshot, etc. Also totally agree on the FD final smash. Like it could be the exact same cutscene, except instead of the Triforce thing it's just FD Link going to town on you with the helix sword
I feel like it’s just the simple fact that young link is supposed to represent ocarina of time specifically. Like ocarina of time is such an important, influential game in Nintendos history that the game basically gets its own representative in young link. That wouldn’t really be a thing anymore if they updated him to his MM design.
@@Inkling2 You know how sandopolis zone from Sonic 3 can be a really long level????? That's Smash Sonic when he's using Timeouts in a nut shell. Sonic game's aren't just about speed there also about platforming and exploration, which can make some levels complex. Sandopolis Zone is the most extreme example of this. When Sonic is not using timeouts, he has to attack the opponent when he's making a mistake. Referencing Sonic boss fights where he has to run away from the boss until they expose a weak point. As to why Sonic is not expressive that's Sega's fault, so there's not much Sakurai can do. As for the stages, they to focus on stages that would potential for platforming rather than what looks cool. As to why Sonic moves are similar, that's because he's already high tier because he's so fast. Improving his moves could make him broken. You would have to slow him down to make him stronger. The point is representation and balance at the same time is not easy.
Personally my most wanted Zelda character is… Ganon! Not ganondorf, but ganon himself, with his look from a link to the past. Neutral: Blazing bats, he spins his trident overhead summoning fire bats and after a short delay they will fly in a straight line to the opponent. They can’t change direction after moving. Side special: trident warp, ganon tosses his trident straight forward, and 2 things can happen depending if the button is held or not 1. If the button is let go, the trident will boomerang backward and back into ganon’s hands. 2. If the button is held, ganon will warp to the trident right before it would normally turn around and catch it. Up special: Leap, ganon will jump upwards and if he doesn’t grab a ledge, he will slam straight downward. If he lands on the ground, he will cause a miniature earthquake around him, about a character lengths away, causing anyone on the ground near him to trip. The initial jump goes about as high as bowsers up special, and can spike right as he changes into a slam. Down special: technique of darkness, ganon will shield himself with his cape, and disappear in a puff of smoke, ganon will be invisible for 5 seconds and is able to use all of his moves normally. It has a 10 second cooldown, and when he is invisible, if you press the down special button again ganon will reappear, but the cooldown will still be the same. Final smash: The golden power, ganon does a large sweeping cape flip (like meta knights old final smash intro) and teleports any caught foes to the pyramid of power. While here, ganon will pull the completed triforce out and lay an absolute beat down on the opponents, with a bright yellow hue coming from him. At the end of the move the opponents will be launched away normally. I think this would be a neat character, and he also uses the same attacks he does in a link to the past.
I think that for toon link having something reference sailing or trains would be great. A final smash that releases a flood so a boat comes through or lays tracks for a train would be great imo.
Also: Toon Link's final smash should be a sword slash that stuns, followed by signaling to Tetra, and we get a cutscene of Tetra and her crew just blasting the heck out anyone stunned by the initial attack with the ship's cannons.
They could re-introduce TP Link and make his down special to transform into wolf, just like Zelda used to have a transformation, and makes a lot of sense, I mean later in the game, Link can transform at will, I never understood why they never tried it. Great video! I really loved all the ideas you came for each Link, except Ganondorf, since he is a little more tricky, since his model is based on OoT, the game where we see the least amount of moves, besides that energy ball, I feel like it would be more easy to think of a moveset for Ganondorf, if his model was based on WW, the game where we actually see a lot more moves (in comparison to Ganondorf OoT)
major spoilers for tears of the kingdom ending - it would be fucking awesome if ganondorf turned into demon dragon for his final smash. he could appear behind the stage like giga bowser and spit fireballs wherever the reticle is aimed
@@duckified. i made a seperate comment where i said that gannon should be reworked into tears of the kingdom gannon with something similar as his final smash, it could make him one of the greatest characters of all time
Something they could've done for Link is to split him into two, reflecting the traditional 3D Zelda and the BOTW formula; looking at how Young Link and Toon Link could've become drastically different, I think having 4 Links would be neat, alongside it being a reference to the drastically overlooked Four Swords subseries.
I was going to comment the same thing if no one else did. Add "Classic Link" and make it OoT Link. If anything, the OG Link feels like an omission to me given that Everyone is Here.
i think they should make Zelda and Sheik work like Aegis, where they can freely switch between one another using one of their specials. Same with ZSS and Samus!
YES!! BANGER concept showcase, love this style of video so much! Very well done 👍 Also, something I was thinking of while watching; as an possible alternative solution to the Young Link transformation problem with his specials, you could instead have him summon the spirits of the deceased characters from Majora’s Mask that are housed in each mask; and have them quickly perform the moves instead, while Link wears each mask. So, Darmani III lobs the powder keg, Mikau throws the fin boomerangs, and the unnamed son of the deku butler carries link up into the air with the flower propellers. Visually, Darmani and Mikau could work like Joker’s Arsèn, and just stand slightly in front and behind young link’s model while they do the attacks. Your concept works just fine as well though, I could see either one looking rad in-game!
For Toon’s final smash I always thought it would be funny as hell if he had a cutscene where he hopped on the spirit train with ghost Zelda and ran over the opponent. Maybe have his head out the window makin a goofy face while he honks the horn. Idk man, just feels right.
For Toon Links final smash it should be a cinematic smash where a giant wave of water comes at the opponent and then a bunch of windwaker enemies come barreling toward you and it shows the cartoony fight cloud effect then you get rammed by Links ship causing the smash to end.
I remember playing Super Smash Flash back in the day, and what they did to Link was very neat! 1. When holding a bomb, you could charge your arrow and your bomb would attach to it! 2. His grab was his signature Hookshot. It could grab onto ledges as a horizontal recovery option. 3. His boomerang notably hit a bit harder but was less dexterous, and was the Twilight Princess Gale Boomerang 4. His back air was a kick!
Ganondorf would now be the tears of the kingdom version. Spread gloom, use different weapons, flurry rush (a'la witchtime), use gloomhands. So many new options! Also for a new character: mineru in her construct mech form would be so much fun as a new heavy. Or any of the sages. Or Rauru, Purah, Robbie, Master Kohga. So many great options!
>Samurai Goroh gets into Smash mainly using his sword >TOTK Ganondorf gets in after him >TOTK Ganondorf is just another weird hybrid of Goroh and people nickname him *Gorohdorf* That would be the funniest shit ever! But all jokes aside, Black Shadow would kill so many birds with one stone just from being added to Smash and he looks like Batman too to top it off.
I think that the smash team would be most likely to add master kohga as a character because other characters would probably make fans of the characters similar to them mad
@@hismajesty6272 Rauru with his hand abilities would be perfect. That way we can somewhat get a moveset based on TotK Link without having another Link.
I really want them to ditch the sword and go for his trident. He’s had it in several games, primarily as Ganon but once as Ganondorf in Hyrule Warriors, and it could function completely separately from all other weapons in the game, being used to draw foes in rather than knock them away so that you can get the killing blow with your bare hands. That would exude power, intimidation, and a complete lack of respect for your foe, which would be magnificent for the Demon King.
For Sheik maybe they could borrow some stuff from the original Hyrule Warriors, it does have a lot of basic ninja stuff, but it also uses the songs and lyre in an interesting way For Botw Link, i always thought that side-b should be something similar to Urbosa's fury, and changing the up b to Revali's Gale, and shield to Daruk's protection, you would have 3/4 champions represented Also, it would have been cool if he had an unique character entrance to the Sheika Tower, where instead of gliding down to it, he could appear after teleporting
Understandable to exclude Mipha's Champion Ability from that, her entire ability is just to revive you if you die. Something that would not work well in Smash Bros
Unpopular Opinion: Shiek needs to go. She's only been in one mainline game and never actually fought or did anything of the such until games like Smash and Hyrule Warriors came along. Two games that are not canon to the main Zelda games. Any ideas that they have for moves that they could give her should go to a new fighter with similar attributes. Member Berries are the only thing keeping her employed.
@@mr.awesome6011 Sheik should be replaced with Impa, specifically Impa from Skyward Sword. That way each Zelda character represents a different game Link - BOTW Zelda - LTTP Ganondorf -OOT Young Link - MM Toon Link - WW Impa - SS Also if I could I’d add Midna and Wolf Link to represent Twilight Princess
they screwed with Ness too. Moves he has that he can’t use in Earthbound: PSI Fire (his side special) PSI Magnet (his down special) PSI Thunder (his up special) PSI Starstorm (his FINAL SMASH.) He literally can’t even use his final smash in his actual game. His team member Poo (yeah, his name is poo) can, but he never can. Yet, he has an iconic move that he CAN use but isn’t in smash, PSI Rockin. bruh.
I think it would be cool if Sheik had a moveset that had some inspiration from the Yiga clan. The Yiga are Sheikah afterall, and as observed by the monk boss fight, they both use very similar fighting techniques.
Problem is the Yiga wield swords and Sheik does not. And if you take away the sword, what you get is them having a hunched fighting stance (which Sheik has), running quickly and low to the ground to perform a dashing strike (which Sheik does), and vanishing and appearing somewhere else for a sneakstrike (which Sheik does). At best it would have been really cool to have the Yiga/Maz Koshia ring effect appear during up-B, but in blue and using letters from the Ocarina of Time script instead of ancient Sheikah.
I feel the issue with Link is that he is meant to represent Zelda as a whole. Typically his move set reflects this as items like the bow, boomerang, and bombs are mainstays in the Zelda series, so having Link use them is understandable as it keeps him consistent with every incarnation of Link instead of just one despite taking the appearance of most recent adult Link. They take some of the most recognizable aspects of Link’s arsenal across the series and put them into a single character to represent the entire series. If you trade some of Link’s Master Sword attacks for other weapons in BoTW then you are getting rid of Link’s focus on swordplay and his most iconic weapon. While having specials like Stasis would be cool it disconnects Link from the rest of the series. I feel the other Links should be the ones to break away from the mold of using iconic weapons and use specific abilities and powers from their games or series like Young Link using the masks as his specials and Toon Link taking items from Toon games. And base Link should represent Zelda as a whole instead of prioritizing one game over the rest of them.
@@ShadowAraun bring up the OOT design for default Link and bring the new stuff to champ; that way everyone should be happy. Champ could be a dinamic character like Pokémon Trainer or Aegis, switching up between the 3 types of weapons from his game (they would share the same animations though.) Things like fuse would be a hard thing to adapt, I think it would be better leaving that as his final smash. I can imagine something like, items always appearing in the scenario so you can fuse them, but that would make him Hero 2. It's a total mess. But for the other stuff... yea, you can work with it.
Plus, you could switch out Young Link and Champion Link's slots considering OoT Link was the original Link in Smash. I feel that'd make sense with how Ganon went back to his OoT design and Zelda her ALTTP design. The Hero of Time is _the_ Link for most people.
The adult link does more damage than toon and child link and there is a thing called the wild set and the fierce deity should be a COMPLETELY difficult character.
I can't believe Impa never made it into the smash series. She was as important in OOT as shiek and actually had importance afterwards. Also I love how Hyrule warriors fixed all the complains about The Zelda representation before Ultimate came out. They could have taken some inspiration from that.
@@dhi_holo The problem is that Sakurai struggles to balance characters from combo heavy games. Impa in smash could another Smash 4 Bayonetta dilemma???
@@pepperyk4 The problem is that Din's Fire, Nauru's Love, and Farore's Wind were never used in Windwaker. So a Toon Zelda using the three spells may not work, especially since Zelda wasn't playable til Spirit Tracks.
@@orangeslash1667 yeah I don’t think you could give her a reskin of Zelda’s move set. It would probably have to lean more into tetra and even then she doesn’t rlly do much in wind waker
My idea is to have Impa replace Sheik, seeing as she's separate from Zelda now and Sheik isn;t even a real ninja, just a spoiled princess LARPing as one for a disguise. Impa goes all the way back to the very first Zelda and has consistently been Zelda's guardian in one form or another, until Ganondorf stops LARPING as cpt. falcon she makes more sense as a smash character than he does. Only issue being that she's usually really old, but she wasn't in OoT so there ya go.
@@samwellcheck562 Ganon being a Falcon clone would be disappointing if Falcon as a one to one translation of F-zero, Caption Falcon in Smash is fast, strong and that's it. So Ganon in Smash is like Falcon in that he reflects the Zelda series from a (symbolic stand point) rather than literal representation. Ganon in kinda represents Zelda boss fights, they are the most defensive bosses in all of video games, but they're also the most exploitable bosses ever. Ganon boss fights are especially explicable, even when he's using magic he is extremely predicable.
(Warning: this will be a bit long) I was thinking that maybe for Ganondorf, I wouldn't mind if he took inspiration from not only his Ganondorf form, but also from his Ganon form, since like Ganondorf, Ganon is usually implied to be the same Ganon, with the exception of BOTW, where Calamity Ganon is just a being made of pure Malice. As for the Moveset: here's what I propose. -Jab: Ganondorf uses smaller versions of the swords used by Demon King Ganon, performing two swipes from each sword, with a Rapid jab where he does a flurry of sword slashes before doing the launching finisher, which has him slam the swords into the ground. -Dash Attack and F-Tilt I feel could remain Unchanged. -Up Tilt is where I pull from the ALTTP Ganon, and have him Summon his Trident, which he spins above himself, doing quick multi-hitting damage, not unlike Palutena or Sora's Up Tilts, but to add that Ganon Flair, the spinning trident will also be accompanied by a Fire effect to reference the the ring of Fireballs that Ganon uses. -Down Tilt could have him make a small piller of dark magic erupt from the ground in front of him that launches foes. Funtionally a Smaller, weaker, but still fairly strong version of Terry's Power Geyser. -Smash attacks remain Unchanged from What they are currently. -Neutral Air: I decided to make it a quick but decently strong burst of Dark magic that erupts from Ganondorf's Body. Functionally like Sephiroth's N-air, but with the Dark Magic effect. -Forward Air: Bringing Back the Trident for a quick Forward thrust that launches foes on hit. And it has a Tipper sweatspot for extra Launching power. -Back Air remains unchanged visiually, but now has an Electricity effect on it. -Up Air: An Upward stab with the Trident to lock foes into the hitstun before Ganondorf swaps them with the Swords before putting them apart with a Tearing Motion. -Down Air is completly Unchanged. The Stomp is just way too good to leave out of his moveset. -Neutral Special: The Ball of Lightning attack, and yes, you can play Dead Man's Volley with it. -Side Special is Unchanged. Flame Choke just feels like something Ganondorf would do. -Up Special: This is where he rises into the air and then floats in the air, where he can then move around and can act out of it. This wouldn't put him into freefall, but he can't use it again until he lands. -Down Special: I actually Moved his Warlock Punch to this Slot, only here, Instead of it being a Falcon Punch Clone, This has Ganodorf Rise into the air while charging his Fist with Dark energy, before decending to the Ground and Punching it so hard that it creates a shockwave of dark energy that launches anyone hit by it, with it being at it's Strongest on the Frame Ganondorf's fist connects to the ground. If used in the air, Ganondorf skips the rising part and just chages straight downward. Basically like Bowser Bomb, but more destructive. Final Smash is unchanged.
Another quick idea for champion representation of Link in smash: What if whenever he respawns on that little hover thing, there were bubbles around him and the greenish blue champion fire, symbolizing Mipha's grace? Of course it would dissipate as he returns to the battlefield
I feel like Toon Link could also have a bit of a Phantom Hourglass rep as well considering the Toon Link in Smash is the Hero of the Winds which had Phantom Hourglass as his second adventure, maybe his final smash could be a PH combo, sort of like Bayonetta's Final Smash
The good and bad representation is exactly what is really making me want to express my ideas I have for Smash. Following Brawl it feels like the newcomers that has joined since has had a rework overall in how they should be represented. You can tell just looking at it. And so it falls on the previous franchises that show to have worst representation than newer one. Look at Mega Man, Simon, and others. I want that same love to be put into the old characters. One idea I have for Zelda franchise which I believe I have also seen others say. Sakurai is a moveset purest. Which comes at a detriment because when old characters SHOULD be updated, they're either just ignored in favor newcomers or given minimal changes. So if Sakurai wants old movesets to return, retool Ganondorf, and give his moveset to Black Shadow from F-Zero. Another said part is the fact even though they gave Ganondorf a sword, it's just Ike's up and side smash. GIVE HIM NEW JUICE! (Edit: I just got to the Black Shadow part lol)
Breath of the Wild Link? He changes outfits for some of his alts. Dark link, Fierce Deity and The classic Link outfit. The fierce deity alt isn't 1 to 1 but it's definitely recognizable.
@@rubub8455 yeah most of them are, but he does change outfits for Dark Link and Classic link. He gets longer sleeves, the Link Hat and the tunic. I would even call fierce deity an outfit change since he gets white eyes and the red markings.
Afaik many of them are based off of his old alts, which were based off of the different outfits in OOT, which were just recolors to a red and blue tunic
For me, I would make Toon Link's boomerang be something that functions like Pac Man's side special, where you aim it by drawing a path. This is a reference to how the boomerang works in the DS games.
I agree. Specially the core point. They represent the characters. They should try to update them to represent their current forms they depict, not just their old smash versions of the character.
I think for Toon Link's final smash it could involve flooding the stage and running the opponent over with the king of red lions but the finisher from the end of the game would fit so well too.
Honestly I think that if the transformation masks were to be implemented into smash, they'd be more interesting if they were allowed to be their own unique character slots (That and the way that you suggested to make them work is just really weird) Though I'd probably wish for wolf link and midna to get in before the masks as a group. Ultimate's Fire arrows are already pretty cool, but if Young Link is gonna be THE classic Link I'd maybe like for him to get the Gilded Sword for some extra reach and Mirror shield. I really like the mechanic of how Link's Shield is able to block projectiles, but it's so hard to make good use of that the mirror shield would be a nice way to make it better. Under this though, I think Toon Link is able to be more different. Keep the great spin attack but remove the glide afterwards the glider is BOTW Link's thing and we already have a deku leaf move. Down B should be Bombchus (Yeah Toon Link had bombchus in Phantom Hourglass), I think Smash Remix got the concept pretty well with their young link, but its a bit janky? Still it's still a bomb but a different bomb than the other two links. Side B, Whip. I knew for the side B I wanted to bring back the pull from the Gale Boomerang since that was cool. And it was either gonna be the Gust Jar, giving Toon a K.Rool style move, or the whip, and unfortunately we already have a wind attribute move based around manipulating the enemies position on this character. Alternative is to keep the UPB glide, replace Deku leaf with Gust Jar, and have Side B be a magic wand, Ice rod in Link Between Worlds was cool, but technically not belonging to a toon link game (I think at least. Might be wrong) unlike it's brother the fire rod. I really feel like Toon should've represented more of the games he was in and I feel like giving some new specials helps with that. instead of him being purely Windwaker link.
Really interesting concepts! For Zelda and especially Shiek they could take some inspiration from Hyrule Warriors! In that game, Shiek fights using harp based moves just as you suggested! Will you do other franchises as well? Mario could certainly use an overhaul for example!
Quite literally how I feel about Kirby in Smash. Great video though, I really like your take for Young Link because people tend to always overlook that that the transformations would be slow and costly.
Oh, a neat thing about Sheik's harp. In Hyrule Warriors, to differentiate Sheik from Zelda and other characters, their weapon is a harp, with different aoe effects depending on the "song" played. Hyrule Warriors also have Ganondorf two swords and some spells, so I thought that one of those two being representative of Hyrule Warriors (TLOZ's only crossover game) would have been perfect, and the other represent Ocarina, or have Young link continue to represent Ocarina. That's my one thing I'd change about Ultimate (unless the larger "rework old character to be more representative" option was available)
Amazing. You represented my thoughts exactly except you were more well-founded and had more visual flare. I am very interested to see how you would rework different characters, especially Sonic.
its important to note that flame choke is distinctly a ganondorf move, he used it in twilight princess to kill one of the sages, i wouldnt mind if he got a new moveset but he should keep flame choke
I think a cool final smash for toon link could be him pulling out the wind waker and playing the ballad of gales which would first summon a king of red lions in front of link and whoever is in it gets put in an animation of being hurled around in a tornado. This would not only feature a lot of references like the wind waker and the king of red lions but also be a fitting attack for the hero of wind.
I always thought it would've been cool for toon link to get ice arrows so each link had their own special kind of arrows. Then his down special could be bombchus that run across the ground after a quick arming time, think bowser jrs down spec. Finally make deku leaf his up special, in the air it creates a whirlwind that boosts him up that he can glide out of, but on the ground he fires an air blasts basically as the video describes. His grab could be the grappling hook. Down air could be the iron boots to make a stall and fall etc. (Maybe even something with clones like 4 swords/triforce heroes) There are some great ideas with links items that the smash team didnt utilize. You could honestly make like 10 different link movesets all based on different eras of link. Dark link, wolf link, adult link, champion link, toy link, 8-bit link etc.
Honestly for Ganondorf it'd be nice if they played more into his wizardry. Maybe have his side special be the evil he pushed Link and Navi with, Maybe give him the teleport as a down special too. Turn him from a grappler into a slow and bulky zoner.
Video idea, since the new zelda game came out echoes of wisdom, imagine a new smash game that still had the og zelda and added a toon zelda with a moveset based on the game
Ganondorf is a textbook representation of my opposition to the philosophy used with some Smash characters. That because they were like this in the first game they appeared even with rushed development that's how they'll stay. To me, properly resenting a character means much more than alienating a player base. The worst part is, they don't even stay consistent. Luigi and Falco have far risen past the people that actually make sense for them to clone so why is Ganon of all characters exempt. It legitamately makes no sense and will always be an error until properly updated.
I think Ganondorf could do with some stuff in his specials referencing Ganon himself. Maybe something to do with tridents or keese, or momentarily turning into Demise/Malladus/Calamity.
I think it would be cool if all the Zelda characters get 3 versions each. We got all 3 Links already, and 2 Zeldas (maybe add Tetra as the 3rd), so Ganondorf should have a trident wielding Ganon (more of the old look for a more classic feel), and sword wielding Demise. In this case, maybe Demise should inherit the current moveset so that Ganondorf himself will be freed up for more magic, and maybe BotW/TotK references. Of course, it'd probably be more interesting if we instead got different characters instead (like Impa instead of Sheik), but its hard to determine who that would be over any of the other memorable, but one-time-use, cast throughout the series.
Fun fact! Ganondorf’s new Smash attacks are copied from other characters too. Forward and Up smash are copied from Ike and the down smash was copied from Cloud. A very glaring copy in Smash ultimate.
I feel like the characters they brought back from the previous Smash games are more based on the way they were in those games rather than on how they are in their own games. Also I totally agree with all your ideas though this is definitely something they couldn't have done within the development time they had. But definitely fun to speculate what could have been
Personally I would've made Yink's Smash Attacks be the transformation mask moves, would give him room to actually charge the attacks (Albiet they'd all be fairly laggy moves, I think that's fine)
Also, I find it kinda odd that the Master Sword is represented in 3 characters: Link, Toon Link and... Mii Swordfighter. For Toon Link, there are tons of swords, like the Four Sword, Lokomo Sword, Phantom Sword, etc... It would also be cool if something represent each games Toon Link is in. Like his FS, he could have a cutscene where he duplicates with the Four Sword, like in Minish Cap
@@thedapperdolphin1590 okay so give him the Phantom Sword, Phantom Hourglass takes place not too long after Wind Waker since the Link of that game is the same one from Wind Waker
You mentioned Revali's Gale and Daruk's protection as well as Urbosa's fury for up-b in another vid but Link having a unique respawn animation would be so cool as well Edit: I forgor (💀) to mention that this animation would be mipha's ghost floating beside link while he's on the respawn platform
Kind of a strange hot take here, but I always thought Ganondorf should have been an echo fighter of Zelda's. People forget he's mostly a wizard and a strategist rather than a big punchy man, so giving him a stronger yet slower moveset that references Zelda's magic might be interesting in my eyes. Keep the floaty move for his up special and he could even teleport into his version of Din's Fire for his side special, giving him more recovery, while also making him a menacing version of Zelda. For the down special he could summon a random member of his army, sometimes it could be super strong like a Lionel, but most of the time it would be Lizalfos and Bokoblins. Again making it the same yet different from Zelda's charged armor. I love the idea of his classic lighting orb being his neutral special though, so that could stay. And to top it off, keep his sword for the smash attacks to further make him different from Zelda. I'm kinda spitballing here's but what do y'all think?
@@calebkaminski6951 Ganon being a Falcon clone would be disappointing if Falcon as a one to one translation of F-zero, Caption Falcon in Smash is fast, strong and that's it.
@@calebkaminski6951 Villains are some of the hardest characters to balance in a fighting game. Ganon has the Triforce of Power, so for Smash he has a powerful moveset. However it comes at the cost of everything else!!!!!!! This means that Ganon can't afford to make a mistake, because every attack will leave him vulnerable. He feels less like a character and more like a playable boss to the absolute extreme.
I like the ideas for Young Link, but I think it would be even cooler if he actually *did* transform - if you *charged* the move. Like standard down b quickly pulls a bomb that's somewhat weak, but if you charge it, he goes full goron mode (also what he does when carrying a big box) and hefts a powder keg. Side B is a quick boomerang, fully charge it for two big zora-fin boomerangs after a split-second transformation. Up B does the regular spin slash (which rises somewhat in midair) but when charged turns into a deku link spin attack, rising up into the flower glide.
I can think of plenty of moves for Ganondorf's new moveset. He has a charged up homing attack in Ocarina of Time, that seems like a good neural B with the lightning tennis ball as a forward B. Phantom Ganon's ability to pop out of paintings might be a good teleport up special, they can even be paintings from a Link Between Worlds. A counter or guard based on Girahim's finger thingy because he's tangentially related to Ganondorf. Have him summon weapons for regular attacks; the old school trident, Demise's sword, light sword, the demo sword, and the two swords from Wind Waker. Maybe something to do with Gloom or Malice getting on the stage creating damaging hazards. I would keep the float as a jump like Peach, but less mobile because he just floats in the same spot in Ocarina of Time. He punches the ground hard enough to cause tremors in Ocarina of Time, that'd work well for a down air or down smash, have it do significant damage to destructables in the environment to reference the collapsing floors. Keep the fan favorite attack of the overhead demo sword swing. Alt colors could reference other villains like purple for Vaati, black for Demise, white for Yuga, Scarlet for the Yiga, Blue skin for the original pig Ganon, Yellow for Bellum, Green for Chancellor Cole/Malladus. I'm hesitant to use anything for Zant, because he could potentially work as his own character. Edit: Because of Koume and Kotake's names being on his twin swords from Wind Waker, they could do fire and ice damage in reference to his witch mothers. Edit: I just played a bunch of Tears of the Kingdom, Gloom Hands/Floor Masters could be used for grappling. And I just thought of the lightning tennis ball is a reflectable projectile as well as the twin swords shooting reflective projectiles in reference to Koume and Kotake's boss fight.
For Toon Link's final smash, the two things I can think of are a cannon barrage from Tetra's ship if we want to focus entirely on Wind Waker. Or, alternatively, we keep a form of Tri-force Slash but have 4 links attacking the people hit instead of the triforce vfx, to represent 4 swords.
19:50 Here's an idea I'd like to mention for toon link's final smash. Instead of it fully being a cutscene attack, what if toon link rode the king of red lions upon a wave moving in a straight line across the battlefield and upon contact with one or more opponents it would activate a cutscene of toon link making a whirlpool around them and then it turns into a tornado like when toon link uses the ballad of gales. Just giving an idea. :)
Now that TOTK is out, it would be cool to have a "modern Link" (Totk Link, with "new" moveset using TOTK new in-game mechanics) and a "classic Link" (a Link with the classic moveset so that Link's mains won't get angry, oh, and left handed too :) ) in the next smash (although well, as you already said in the video we already have toon link and young link to cover the gap of normal Link, but I really miss Link from Twilight and would like for him or his OOT self to come back xD).
I mean the simple answer on how to do the transformations with young Link is to only give each character Aerials and ground moves, each special changes you into the character. And maybe grab along with neutral b change you back to link
Aerials and ground moves are most of the moveset. :/ Notice how Pyra and Mythra have mostly different specials but ALL the same normals? There's a reason for that.
I think imp midna riding wolf link as 1 character would be incredible, sort of like duck hunt where they use both their abilities together to make a fun and original moveset. :)
My idea for a Ganondorf Down Special is him using his cape to reflect projectiles, one more reference to OoT's Dead Man's Volley. It'd also just be nice to have on a character as slow as Ganondorf.
Better and easier to code solution: put all 3 links as costumes for link. So remove young and toon link, and make their models styles for BoTW link. And Ganondorf? Just change his specials and make him faster.
For Ganondorf's energy tennis, I also had the idea that, you can charge it to do the super big one from wind waker and ocarina, and also, when Ganondorf has thrown his projectile out, he can press the button again, in both the air and on the ground, to use his cape to deflect it, with really good frame data, to help him contend with others launching it back, and perhaps it also gives him a lil' recovery lift and twists people around, just like the mario capes!
For Sheik they could get some inspiration from the Hyrule Warriors game. In that game she has special attacks based on the different songs she teaches Link in Ocarina of Time
I always thought it’d be cool if Ganondorf used attack’s with both his claymore and the trident Ganon usually uses, it’d give him some variety between precise attacks with a lot of range and slow sweeping attacks with not as much range. Example, his up tilt could be a powerful spear jab alongside his current up smash, he could pull out either at any point, so you never feel safe, but he moves slow enough that you can probably dodge with quick reflexes and a calm mind, just like fighting a LoZ boss for the first time
I think another thing that's purely visual you could do for Link is making Mipha appear on the respawn platform as if Mipha's Grace was used. And I think you mentioned this in a previous video, making Link's grounded up B Urbosa's fury. Also including all 4 runs from BOTW shouldve happened
Hey everyone, thanks for watching!

Honestly if Young Link's Final smash was functionally the same as it is now except instead of dashing forward he shoots beams from the Fierce Deity Sword after trapping the opponent he'd fly so high up on my list of coolest characters.
Also in Hyrule Warriors, his Finisher is Fierce Deity cutting the moon!
YES THAT IS WHAT I WAS THINKING OF!
Why not have a transformation final smash instead? Fierce deity link is like… THE op transformation that would be perfect for a final smash
@@nacitalatincirli793 too bad they moved away from those.
Pretty sure that’s his final smash in Smash Bros. Crusade
Make it a cutscene final smash have the hit box be a train then all players caught on the train get wailed on by all 4 links
He summons the spirit train and runs everyone over
What if he also launches in four directions (up down left right) when he does this?
I’ve always thought Toon Link should have a special parry mechanic, because of how big a deal it is in WW (especially with the final boss).
honestly yeah i could see it working like witch time but instead of slowing time he rolls or leaps into a counter attack
@@CallMiiEshmael could also include the musical tone thing it does.
Imagine if they took the Hyrule Warriors approach with Toon Link and made him summon trains

Before Ultimate came out, I thought they would keep Green Tunic Link the same as SSB4, and introduce a whole Blue Tunic Link with a fully BOTW moveset as a completely separate new character
Call him Champion Link or something.
But then again, that would've been 4 total Links...
Which would've been the single funniest way to reference the Four Swords games
@@christiannorton9400 That's actually an amazing idea!
Or give botw Link a new moveset and take the old one and make it the Hero's Shade.
FR I love ssb4 links especially tp link
Ganondorf could always borrow from the Hyrule Warriors one. Big trident, magical energy, summoning shadow versions of his beast mode, etc. Seems like a great fit to me.
His outfit would be amazing too... I mean, now that TotK dropped, that's never going to happen, but I can dream.
Just make Ganon's neutal special the charged special move from the OG game, and make it based on a meter like the game
Thinking about it,now with tears of the kingdom out, there is a lot of potential for Ganondorf's moveset for the next smash game
My guy that’s what I’ve been saying. The Zelda series has made two different fighting games where each character has a unique only to that character (and their weapon of choice) moveset that features I think everyone but Young Link (which is a given)
Yeah
To set Link apart from his smaller brothers, they could also have him alternate between round and cube bombs, and also have a Monado-style menu for him to switch between fire, ice, shock and bomb arrows, while only having a limited number of those ones
Or, pulling from Tears, having Link able to attach items to his arrows when he shoots them, like pick up a Freezey and long range freeze the enemy
@@dhi_holo ultimate came out before tears even existed.
yeah, as he charges his bow you move the stick to choose the type of special arrow, also I'd change his final smash to something like the Divine Beast death beam that happens when you save all the Divine Beasts before the Calamity Ganon fight

Something else that could make toon link more unique is giving him the grappling hook as a tether instead of the hookshot.
Maybe.
They could give him Belmont forward and back airs, and have him snag enemies with it.

Kinda impressive how he didn't even mentioned grab move in this video
oooooo that grappling hook would be cool

As a suggestion for young link,
Tie the masks to the shield + B input inkling uses.
Basically he stays the same as current but when entering “mask mode” you transform and do the special associated with the mask, making a stronger version of the special
Mask mode would only last one move and would basically add extra startup and end lag to a special but give it a lot of extra bang
The input chain would be: Shield > B > Direction = Mask Special
Edit: rather than pulling out and holding the explosive keg, I imagine goron link immediately chucks it but it won’t immediately explode if it doesn’t hit an enemy kinda like the barrel item, link then could pick it up and chuck it again or detonate it with the flame arrows
That’s a cool idea, I was thinking it could be a charge thing where holding the special button would charge it allowing him to transform and use a upgraded version of the move, but this could also be a cool way to do it.
that’ll be dope tbh. i would like to goron roll. also he should get a magic bar to make the transformations more powerful with their moves
A FS change I would make for Toon Link is to let his pirate friends have some fun. Not certain if it's a cinematic one or a "let's just bomb the stage" like they do at the Wind Waker stage, but I like to pretend it would also give Tetra some appearance in the game.
Imagine if they repurposed Snakes old final smash for toon link
Have the King of Red Lions come in to snag the opponents and transport them to the ocean, then have the pirate's ship follow up to run them over
@@Trianull The less complicated the better
@@dwqafaefa... I forgot to mention that it'd act like Captain Falcon's final smash, the pirate stuff would all be a cutscene. It sounds more complicated than it is.
@@Trianull Oh, I like it
17:19 Hell, keep it functionally the same but he does it as the Fierce deity and shoots out the blade beams like mii swordfighter while he does it.
Truly an amazing spin-off
Keep Ganondorf mostly the same, add Ganon from A Link to the Past as a newcomer. Boom. Solved.
@@tomdekler9280 The problem is that Pig Ganon is too big for Smash. Ridley works because he's so scrawny, but not Pig Ganon.

I was thinking that same thing but maybe he could have it drive off after the move ends across the stage?
I'VE GOT IT!! Have his Final Smash be a cutscene one, where the opponent is bombarded by a barrage of bombs from Lineback, the Pirates and the Red Lion. 😤
I say for Toon Link he should call upon the help of Tetra and her pirate crew and fire a barrage of cannons at the opponents
@@faroukabdel-idir4040 That's fair
There's something to be said for maintaining original movesets. The work that went into balancing a character's animations should not quickly tossed. That said, BotW Link really could have afforded a Divine Ability based B moveset.
@Icemario87 tbf with the whole masks thing you could still reuse the animation with some slight tweaks it wod not be impossible. Or they can just steal other characters animations they arent really adverse to it. I'm also pretty sure Toon Link still uses his Brawl anims to an extent anyways same with some other characters

in the fan game super smash bros crusade, they turned ganon into this dope wizard, where his neutral special was a chargable dead mans volley, with longer charge sending more projectiles. he also has a crazy upsmash where he holds his sword up and it shoots lightning onto it, in reference to demise from skyward sword. dude was absolutely amazing in that.
I can definitely see Wolf Link and Midna as a new fighter. Maybe have the Fused Shadow as their final smash, and the "field of darkness" thing that Midna does for a down special.
Duck hunt echo fighter

The furries are coming
@@MarboTheMapothey already came. Lucario and Duck Hunt are popular among furries
ever since Brawl, I've always wanted Toon Link's final smash to incorporate the windwaker
like having the Ballad of Gales summon a typhoon would be brilliant
I think a nice, subtle touch would be if they made Link's alt colors wield the Four Sword instead.
What makes Ganondorf and Falcon funnier is that if you flip either of their renders they look very similar
Sounds like a good idea, but that would mean that each one would have the same moveset. Nothing wrong with that until you have it up to scale
@@tropicturtle9021 I guess, but they already changed ganondorf to his OoT incarnation so that role is already fulfilled imo
Not having fierce deity link with his blade beam as his final smash for young link is still criminal

next one should be sonic!

Personally my most wanted Zelda character is…
Ganon! Not ganondorf, but ganon himself, with his look from a link to the past.
Neutral: Blazing bats, he spins his trident overhead summoning fire bats and after a short delay they will fly in a straight line to the opponent. They can’t change direction after moving.
Side special: trident warp, ganon tosses his trident straight forward, and 2 things can happen depending if the button is held or not
Ganondorf moves could not only been base off of just the 4 Ganondorfs, but also from the diferent versions of Ganon.
I'm surprised he doesn't have a spear projectile or energy beams in Smash.

YES!! BANGER concept showcase, love this style of video so much! Very well done 👍
Also, something I was thinking of while watching; as an possible alternative solution to the Young Link transformation problem with his specials, you could instead have him summon the spirits of the deceased characters from Majora’s Mask that are housed in each mask; and have them quickly perform the moves instead, while Link wears each mask.
3. His boomerang notably hit a bit harder but was less dexterous, and was the Twilight Princess Gale Boomerang
4. His back air was a kick!

Or have him change weapons like he does in the final fight?
Or just have Mipha/Sidon using the lightscale trident
For Sheik maybe they could borrow some stuff from the original Hyrule Warriors, it does have a lot of basic ninja stuff, but it also uses the songs and lyre in an interesting way
For Botw Link, i always thought that side-b should be something similar to Urbosa's fury, and changing the up b to Revali's Gale, and shield to Daruk's protection, you would have 3/4 champions represented
Also, it would have been cool if he had an unique character entrance to the Sheika Tower, where instead of gliding down to it, he could appear after teleporting
Understandable to exclude Mipha's Champion Ability from that, her entire ability is just to revive you if you die. Something that would not work well in Smash Bros

He literally can’t even use his final smash in his actual game.
I’m pretty sure Impa uses some Yiga-like moves in Age of Calamity, so that would make sense.
Champion Link deserves his whole new character slot tbh.

@@kenspeedway1572 Pretty much instead of just replacing original Link
They could have taken some inspiration from that.

impa would be a perfect new addition to the roster. she appears in multiple zelda games, and age of calamity gave her awesome moveset potential.
She's my second most wanted character (first is Terra Branford).
(Warning: this will be a bit long)
I was thinking that maybe for Ganondorf, I wouldn't mind if he took inspiration from not only his Ganondorf form, but also from his Ganon form, since like Ganondorf, Ganon is usually implied to be the same Ganon, with the exception of BOTW, where Calamity Ganon is just a being made of pure Malice.
I think it should be daruks protection
I feel like Toon Link could also have a bit of a Phantom Hourglass rep as well considering the Toon Link in Smash is the Hero of the Winds which had Phantom Hourglass as his second adventure, maybe his final smash could be a PH combo, sort of like Bayonetta's Final Smash
Minish cap counter
@@CRios25 that's an entirely different Link but I guess it would work as well
The good and bad representation is exactly what is really making me want to express my ideas I have for Smash.
I hate how Link's alts are just recolored versions of his two outfits instead of the actual outfits
Breath of the Wild Link? He changes outfits for some of his alts. Dark link, Fierce Deity and The classic Link outfit. The fierce deity alt isn't 1 to 1 but it's definitely recognizable.
@@JayJayNoelastnam yeah but they're all recolors instead of the actual outfits
@@rubub8455 yeah most of them are, but he does change outfits for Dark Link and Classic link. He gets longer sleeves, the Link Hat and the tunic. I would even call fierce deity an outfit change since he gets white eyes and the red markings.
Afaik many of them are based off of his old alts, which were based off of the different outfits in OOT, which were just recolors to a red and blue tunic
They can't _all_ be separate costumes. Modelling is time-consuming
It’s a bit of a stretch, but I kinda love the idea of young links special moves being done by the statues he summons using the elegy of emptiness
Elbow thrust is also in TP. Smash Gannondorf may have actually influenced his cannon moveset outside of Smash.
Malladus isn’t even a Ganon incarnation though…
I would say maybe those could be taunts, victory screen or final smashes
Uh oh

super sick ideas! would love to see these in the games
The four Links are pretty iconic imo, so to me that would be the best final smash Toon Link could have!
They specifically go for WW Link though, so it would be weird to give him the four sword
@@thedapperdolphin1590 okay so give him the Phantom Sword, Phantom Hourglass takes place not too long after Wind Waker since the Link of that game is the same one from Wind Waker
17:18 maybe in young links final smash they could do the hyrule warriors move and slash the moon with the player on it
You mentioned Revali's Gale and Daruk's protection as well as Urbosa's fury for up-b in another vid but Link having a unique respawn animation would be so cool as well
Edit: I forgor (💀) to mention that this animation would be mipha's ghost floating beside link while he's on the respawn platform
That and a bit of sword based attacks since he is a swordsmen
@@calebkaminski6951 Ganon being a Falcon clone would be disappointing if Falcon as a one to one translation of F-zero, Caption Falcon in Smash is fast, strong and that's it.
@@orangeslash1667 looking at it like that it's pretty good ( not from a balancing perspective as being predictably kinda nerfs a character )
@@orangeslash1667 once again looking at it like that it is pretty cool
Notice how Pyra and Mythra have mostly different specials but ALL the same normals? There's a reason for that.
The song that starts at young Link’s part what is it called?
Something I find super sad is that Toon Link DOES have the hurricane spin in smash! It's custom move in Smash 4 that they easily could've ported over.
I like the ideia of you making Smash concepts, giving ideias to bad reps and going a bit on the history of the character is pretty nice
