Genuinely, I wish the Eotechs worked with my astigmatism, because they write cases for themselves as to why you should own one. Great review as always, dude!
I’ve never heard anyone say they have an astigmatism with an Eotech. It’s always the exact opposite, they have astigmatism with red dots but not holographic Eotech
@@stephen_crumley I ended up with a 510c. It was the clearest dot I was able to test before buying. It doesn't even look perfect to me. When i have my 3x magnifier flipped, it is amazingly crisp.
And this is why all my optics, save one, are fixed magnification prisms or lpvo style. I do have one little red dot, but in a few years it will likely be less useful as my eyes worsen.
love my EXPS 2-2, very intuitive and the 2 dots is not busy enough to mess me up.. but I agree that the classic 1-dot (or 2-dots should be the max) you should consider if you're buying your 1st EoTech
I have two exp3 and one xps3, thanks for the validation. Never heard of the refresh rate problem, it is totally smooth when in motion and I have experienced dots that make me sea-sick.
It's a 1moa center dot, and it still appears to be 1moa under magnification because the dot is actually smaller than 1moa, but our eyes cannot resolve anything small than a 1moa size. Pretty interesting
I really love these optics…Bought a 512 on a whim and I’ve been an EOTech diehard ever since. They’ve got downsides but I really don’t care for other dots ever since
I rock an EXPS 3-0 and have for the last few years. I shoot in a weekly shooting league with a bunch of great shooters and they all use magnified optics. I keep pace with them with just the EOTech. Rifle stars at 50 yards, low probability hits, whatever the challenge, I can at least keep pace with the Razors and Strike Sagles and Vudus with just a dot. I believe in EOTech supremacy. It helps that they’re a home state brand too. #PureMichigan
They definitely had warranty coverage issues with delam in the past but since a few years ago they've had a newer, better warranty and its covered. I would only be concerned about it now if you go out of your way to buy an old salty one to save some money. But there's always a reliability risk when you do that. Reddit loves to hate on Eotech but I have two, an EXPS3 and an older 553 and they've both been great.
From my understanding as long as you get one with the newer Eotech logo on the side it shouldn't be an issue. Newer one for years now has the E logo.... instead of saying Eotech.
As far as Eotech warranty goes, I personally had accidentally smashed the shit out of mine by slamming it into a pole when running a CQC drill with my homies. I emailed them, they told me to mail it, got it back in about 3 weeks, and it looks even more crisp besides the abusive amount of scars on the shroud. Yeah battery life sucks but honestly it’s so unbelievably bomb proof that I’d rather just carry a bag of batteries than jeopardizing build quality by settling for other box optics.
I have an astigmatism and my 3-4 is a bit much for me unmagnified. Funnily enough it's just fine under nods, but that's just how tubes work more than my eyes. Keep meaning to switch it out for a 3-2 as I know that plays nice with my astigmatism and I can make out the dots fine without corrective lenses or magnifier. Eotech+mag is my go to set up. I just keep some spare batteries on board just in case.
I had the one with two red dots..they blurred together without magnification..returned it and got the dcr..danger close reticle..much better separation
Got the EXPS3-0 Tan, love it for it's purpose. For Batterie Life: just shut it off or on and change batteries. What do you think does the military do in the field with them?
I had 1913 fitment issues and they said my model is discontinued so here is "trade up" 50% off their "gear store." I'd rather run a Primary Arms Prism.
Yea, love mine on a house gun. Yes I know if battery dies unit is useless. I have other things in case. Do wish the reticle was etched and fiber optic backup
Really wish eotech would partner with primary arms to make an eotech with acss Reticle and a shake awake feature. Eotechs under magnification look amazing so a legit bdc would be nice instead of the lame "bdc" they use in their 3-2 and 3-4 which is not even really a bdc. A man can dream.
You'd never be able to get the same fine stadia lines with a holographic projection that you get with etched or fine fiber reticles, which would defeat the purpose of a bdc which is increased first shot hit probability. Plus, shake awake would exponentially increase the already significant battery drain a holographic site requires. This is why we'll never see either. Closest you can get is that weird grenade launcher reticle they have
To add to @@BarnDoor-won5ve's comment, it isn't that a reticle with horizontal or vertical lines are not capable of being recorded on the holographic medium. EOTECH has done this numerous times many of which are still available, such as the XBOW, intended for archery (this is a really unique one, it has lines for moving targets based on distance), the XR308 (Intended for the M240) , XR500 (for the .50 BMG M2.) and the 40GL reticle they mentioned. Holograms are nearly microscopically perfect recordings of the entire light field they were exposed to. The issue is the human eyeball. It is not really able to correctly resolve anything smaller 1 than MOA into a crisp image. This is part of why MOA as a unit of measure and reference even exists in the first place. The physical dot part of the hologram actually recorded is actually smaller than 1 moa, but the brain says "I can't tell how big it is oh screw it I'll just decide it's 1 moa." This remains true under magnification until you start to get to much higher levels of magnification, where the true size will begin to be resolvable, when it can now also begin to obstruct the target. Thus a reticle size completely independent of the magnification is the solution if we want the lines to be very small and precise at distance. He's right about shake awake too. Shake awake is never ever coming to holographic sights and _really shouldn't_ without some kind of amazing revolution in battery or laser diode technology. Without one of those conditions It will be a net negative power drain and everyone will complain about that now too. It just is not feasible. The caveat with holographic sights is they demand way more power and that caveat is absolutely immutable. A laser diode is gonna use as much as 33 times as much, over 300% more than an LED needs to use for the LED to be daylight visible. That is just the diode alone, without accounting for the other electronics in the sight that are necessary for the sight to be useful. 15 minutes of on time at medium brightness of the EOTECH is consuming 30+% more power than the dot and though the laser is primary consumer of power overall, it's only about 70% of the energy being used where as the LED can be as much as 90ish% of the power used.
I think the 4/8 hour options are pretty perfect for it's design. If it had a shake awake it would really kill the already low hour amount batteries. Ya on the 50k hour red dots, sure but these with 1k or so... just seems like would waste too much and be dead often. I guess if it never moves then maybe ha
This is not a super important detail but dots are not really forming the image. What the pattern of grainy dots or pixelation are is the speckling diffusion of laser light. Because of the spectral purity (narrow wavelength band) of lasers and the wave nature of light when two photons of the same wavelength meet with the oscillation of their wavefront at the complete opposite peaks of each other's oscillation they undergo destructive interference, effectively cancelling the two photons since all of the photons are the same wavelength overall. The opposite occurs when they meet in perfect phase, and gets brighter instead, undergoing constructive interference. The space between dots is simply areas where after deflecting off a surface, in this case some of the fringes which form the hologram, photons got in the way of other incoming photons at exactly the right angle and time which destructively interfered the incoming light in that location. When some dots appear brighter and or larger than other dots constructive interference occured. It is impossible to _completely_ avoid this phenomenon in holography or any other use of laser illumination though it can be mitigated somewhat which EOTECH does if I remember right. Note that it disappears as the brightness increases, eventually to a point no gaps are readily visible except on the outer edges of the reticle as the number of photons that did not get cancelled by interference reaching the retina at once increases.
@@kellym3531 You realize you can leave an Eotech on, on the lowest setting for six months right? I mean Shake awake is cool, but I don't want a constrained tube like an Aimpoint T2 clone in my house with my family. I want a wide FoV like an Eotech.

I have many red dots, some budget, some high quality. What advantages a holographic optic would bring to the table to justify its larger frame and higher price compared with a good red red dot?
The giant window on the eotech is part of the draw because infinite eyebox, and easier for passive aiming under nods, virtually zero parallax, not visible from the front, reticle stays the same size under magnification where as normal dots actually do get magnified and it looks cooler duhhhhh
Let's be real: when us civvies buy NODs, they're mostly being used for stargazing, looking for UFOs, and stalking the woods trying to get a look at Bigfoot and gnomes.
You said the red dot on the eotech doesn't change size depending on how far it is from your eye... Mine does change size, am I missing something or was this info just incorrect?
The actual reticle stays the same size but the reticle in relation to the housing does get bigger because the window is getting smaller as the reticle is staying the same

Its funny that I can use just about any red dot with no problem but the dot on the Eotech - especially magnified is just plain mush. With that said after using the 8T there is no need for the Eotech. Just as good NV usage, 100k hour battery life (listed), auto shut off in a decent time frame (not 8 hours), and multiple reticle options. Sig killed it with the 4T and 8T lines.

No way. The RDS Pro V2 definitely has tint, rather noticeably, and the reticle doesn't even work in the entire window. No point to having a large window when the reticle isn't visible in the entire window.

Running along a perfectly good review of a beautiful optic, and you gotta go bringing up these dire times, it's Sunday morning man, I'm drinking my coffee. Now I gotta go pick up recyclables to get an eotech 😂
I have a 512 and G33 magnifier it's my favorite! I love Eotech, I will be getting XPS series soon, I also have a Aimpoint comp4, sig romeos and cheap crimson trace, Bushnell, vortex ,etc. FOLKS save your money and buy one and you'll never want anything else but a Eotech on your rifle, their that good, I don't need night vision because I haven't won the lottery yet, im just a average Joe, that's slowly upgrading my equipment, ❤ Thanks for video it's awesome as always ✌️
Genuinely, I wish the Eotechs worked with my astigmatism, because they write cases for themselves as to why you should own one. Great review as always, dude!
I have only looked through a vortex uh-1 and it did not look good with my astigmatism. I assume the eotech would be the same.
I’ve never heard anyone say they have an astigmatism with an Eotech. It’s always the exact opposite, they have astigmatism with red dots but not holographic Eotech
PA 1x microprim is amazing. Very crisp even with astigmatism.
Absolutely love my EXPS3 with a 5x magnifier. Such a good optic combo.
love my EXPS 2-2, very intuitive and the 2 dots is not busy enough to mess me up.. but I agree that the classic 1-dot (or 2-dots should be the max) you should consider if you're buying your 1st EoTech
Another amazing video from cdoos
been waiting for this one
Found these on sale but didn't pull the trigger because i don't really need it and you didn't have a review on it surprisingly
I have two exp3 and one xps3, thanks for the validation. Never heard of the refresh rate problem, it is totally smooth when in motion and I have experienced dots that make me sea-sick.
Love to see your comparison between this and the Romeo 8T
Hop has a video on the 8T
Love my exps green dot with their magnifier
THE king of night vision. .25moa center dot and still 1moa size under magnification 👌
except for the AEMs which is a little bit better for NODS
It's a 1moa center dot, and it still appears to be 1moa under magnification because the dot is actually smaller than 1moa, but our eyes cannot resolve anything small than a 1moa size. Pretty interesting
Have one with their 3x magnifier, took it out to 500yds on 10x10 steel. That's as much I can ask it to do, and I'm quite happy with it
I really love these optics…Bought a 512 on a whim and I’ve been an EOTech diehard ever since.
Is this review gonna validate my exps3-0 purchase that just got delivered and installed last night 🙌🏼
Battery life is the main drawback on these
They definitely had warranty coverage issues with delam in the past but since a few years ago they've had a newer, better warranty and its covered.
I have an exps 3-0 and holosun 3x magnifier on my ddm4v7 slw. I feel its ok. Maybe selling it for a 1-6 lpvo instead of getting the g45 to add to it.
I’m shocked how clear that holosun magnifier is behind the eotech. The sight picture is phenomenal. Have you had any time with vortex’s UH1?
love eotechs but its costly to outfit multiple guns with them
One day ill buy one. But for now, im happy with my Holosun optics.
I still prefer a 1x micro prism to this. Works without a battery and is perfect for astigmatism.
Holo are the best magnifier hosts. Flat untinted glass so less glass coating stacking. under mag it stays the same size, the dot stays 1moa.
Wish you still had the UH-1 with you, would have liked to see your input and comparison between the two holographic sights on the market!
Do you notice a difference magnifying this compared to a red dot?
Got the EXPS3-0 Tan, love it for it's purpose.
For Batterie Life: just shut it off or on and change batteries. What do you think does the military do in the field with them?
I had 1913 fitment issues and they said my model is discontinued so here is "trade up" 50% off their "gear store." I'd rather run a Primary Arms Prism.
Yea, love mine on a house gun. Yes I know if battery dies unit is useless. I have other things in case. Do wish the reticle was etched and fiber optic backup
Can we get a review of the Sig 8t ?
Really wish eotech would partner with primary arms to make an eotech with acss Reticle and a shake awake feature. Eotechs under magnification look amazing so a legit bdc would be nice instead of the lame "bdc" they use in their 3-2 and 3-4 which is not even really a bdc. A man can dream.
an eotech with Acss reticle would have like a 10 hour battery life lmao
Accs is the reticle king
I only wish they did not automatically turn off in 4/8 hours. A shake awake would be awesome
Is it because it’s turned off during your operations? 😂
I really want you to do the Leupold Mark4 HD 6-24!!! You have the best optic videos
3 power magnifier behind one brings the reticle into the sex range blackout
Where do you recommend looking for used optics that isn’t sketchy?
eBay and Gunbroker
many big retailers like optic planet will have open boxes, show room models, and they run sales and specials alot.
There's no better Assaulters optic out there, the Eotech is the fastest, best clarity, FoV and reticle optic in the world.
Exactly that’s the role it plays. It’s not exactly the best for like a home defense optic
@@Ellienollie Explain how fighting in a building, is any different than clearing you own home.....
@mountedpatrolman Preparation vs surprised. In the surprised scenario, I want shake awake.
@@kellym3531 You realize you can leave an Eotech on, on the lowest setting for six months right? I mean Shake awake is cool, but I don't want a constrained tube like an Aimpoint T2 clone in my house with my family. I want a wide FoV like an Eotech.
@@mountedpatrolmanlmao, no you can't. These things all auto shut off after 4 or 8 hours depending on which button you pushed. Yes, the battery will last for about that long runtime, but you cannot leave it on.
I love eotechs and own one (an EXPS2) but let's not make shit up about what it can and can't do. The eotech is not a good choice if you want a sight thats always ready at a moments notice. A red dot with always on capabilities and a 4 year run time like a T2 is a better choice for that.
Fov doesn't really matter if you shoot it both eyes open like you are supposed to.
Eotech , T2 = durable, proven, consistent
The 512c-GD has 2 NV settings.
Sig Romeo 8T pls 🙏
Until they add an auto-on/shake-awake feature, I will never consider one, especially in a world where the Romeo4XT Pro exists.
Buddy can’t press a button without seeing it? You that incompetent? You can’t remember hey I’ve been out for a few hours let me raise and lower the brightness to reset the 8 hour timer? Yeesh
@@mynamejef7963 What an ignorant reply. Why would I want something extra to think about in a stressful situation if I don't have to?
Wish the elevation/windage adjustments on mine weren't so mushy and had actual clicks, but there set and forget.
it would be cool if you could bring schmidt & bender pm ii dual cc to see what 5 grand can bring you or kahles k18i-2 for a redemption attempt
I bought my one and only EOTech around a decade ago. Still have it on my main rifle. It uses the annoying N batteries. I wish EOTech would offer a refit kit to change it over to AA batteries. I got it for $425. I cannot afford another so this was my one and only, unfortunately. I have to remove the batteries between uses because there is a parasitic battery drain that will leave my batteries dead after a couple weeks of no use.
If you had to choose between the exps 2-0 vs the vortex AMG Uh1 gen 2 which would you choose?
I love my “black magic fuckery” l mean eotech exps3-2. Fantastic optic!!
I love my eotechs :)
CDoes, what was you looking at in the sky with your night vision? was that a UFO flying around, and can you see them with night vision?
Thermals are best at detecting UFOs. Some UFOs are phased out you see them like a ghost look at jellyfish uap video jeremy corbell. I saw one that was partially invisible it had a mirage effect and a low frequency hum to it love you
Hey C_does, how do I send you a message? I was Google searching some scope reviews and landed on a site, but the guy was using your images and linked to your video. I didn't see any credit to you.
I have an AEMS on my bedside gun because of shake awake and battery life and an eotech on guns for everything else.
I just got an exps3-0 from PSA for $570 (still in stock if anybody is looking).
I lost out on a exps3-4/g33 combo from sportsmans outdoor superstore for around $880 on clearance a couple months ago. The website crashed as I tried to check out (Saturday night) so there was a charge on my card but no order and by the time I called customer service the following Monday the sale had ended. I'm going to be salty about that for a long time.
Who carries a quarter around with them?
checking out the UAP'S?
Let's be real: when us civvies buy NODs, they're mostly being used for stargazing, looking for UFOs, and stalking the woods trying to get a look at Bigfoot and gnomes.
You said the red dot on the eotech doesn't change size depending on how far it is from your eye... Mine does change size, am I missing something or was this info just incorrect?
The actual reticle stays the same size but the reticle in relation to the housing does get bigger because the window is getting smaller as the reticle is staying the same

yeah, as far as a SHTF option for us non-military, I don't think there's anything else you should get. You can even go like Hop and forego backup irons because of how much he trusts the eotech.

its always so funny to hear this. "dis is muh bugout gun! dis is muh truck gun!" bro the batteries last about two weeks. 😂😂😂
It's always funny since red dots now have something ridiculous, like 50k hours and people have to chime in ohhh it only has what 1k ish hours ( updated models ) When in SHTF the real problem will be flashlights with a few hours runtime haha... better pack some solar recharge ability! 1k hour optic will be the least of your problems.
In a zombie apocalypse every electronic optic will poop at some point. Better buy a few sets of iron sights. Let alone in a zombie apocalypse. Ammo will dry up pretty quickly. Better buy a shit ton of swords and daggers
While the properties of the EOTech HWS are fantastic, I have two EPXS sights and BOTH have delaminated. Sent it over to EOTech for a warranty repair over a month ago from Europe and I'm still waiting for them to ship it back.
Check the Taliban....they are in stock over there 👀
This or Sig Romeo8T?
Its funny that I can use just about any red dot with no problem but the dot on the Eotech - especially magnified is just plain mush.
With that said after using the 8T there is no need for the Eotech. Just as good NV usage, 100k hour battery life (listed), auto shut off in a decent time frame (not 8 hours), and multiple reticle options. Sig killed it with the 4T and 8T lines.
If it looks bad magnified it sounds like you need to adjust your diopter. It's fuzzy to my naked eye but when I magnify it it's as crisp as the illustration on the box.
Diopter or you have it set too bright. It should barely be seen
@@InkwellFoto Believe me man I tried everything. Magnified its shit show. I wanted an Eotech because its Eotech but it wasnt happening.

Where do you find a legitimate used Eotech? Always afraid of getting a China scam
USA made optics over floptics homie....
I want one but I can't justify them without shakeawake.
You should check out the meprolight RDS pro v2, I have one and imho it's cleaner than the eotech, and has the same no tint or distortion as the eotech. Can't speak to it's Nv performance though.
No way. The RDS Pro V2 definitely has tint, rather noticeably, and the reticle doesn't even work in the entire window. At max brightness you can see that there's a circle in the middle that the reticle is visible in within the glass. No point to having a large window when the reticle isn't visible in the entire window.
@@jamarrchasingjoe3310 not sure about yours, but the two I have are perfectly clear, like a piece of glass or an eotech. Also look great under a 6x magnifier unlike other red dots. The recticle does not go edge to edge perfectly, but it's a big window and it's only at the extremes.
The only people who shit on eotechs are people who don't have/actually use one...
