I actually started playing this game again last week. Bought it in 2007 and it still looks and feels like a modern game. Where I couldn't enjoy full graphic beauty I now run on 1440 with all settings on max, it's amazing. Definitely one of the best game series I ever played. Well done on the retro review dude!
Aw man this brings me back. I got the whole command and conquer collection from ea on a sale a while ago and tiberium wars and generals zero hour are my favorites
One of my life-long favourites; My father introduced me to the original series during the 90s and when I was 16, we used to have LAN battles at home, We wagered our phone handsets I had a blackberry bold and he had a new iPhone - first time I managed to beat him, he still plays today at 57 playing brutal. Good times!
Anyone interested in watching well commentated high level matches of this game or Kanes wrath should check out Sybert, he covers really great tournaments and pro matchs
I've been playing this game solidly since it came out pretty much, totally agree it's peak C&C. The toughest level AI is suitably tough so the local SP skirmish is worth it on its own, but you can still play it MP online with a community replacement for the old MP called C&C online. The campaigns have some great polish and the whole game has super high production values. Just missing the old school Frank Klepacki soundtrack of the earlier C&Cs. Maybe the only downside to this game is it's 30fps, but that hardly matters for a C&C game. FWIW I've never had to do any weird shenanigans to get it to play at native res, even on my 1440p monitor.
Just bought a new boxed physical copy for $9 Always wanted to play it on pc Played the x360 demo when it released when I was a kid but gaming computers were out of my reach at the time as a 13 year old in 2007

Actually just bought it yesterday on Steam during the summer sale. Only ¥350. Good buy. Kane’s wrath was the same price and got it as well, just for both pieces of part 3.
This and Kane's Wrath are my favorite C&C games. I never played the older ones but I've yet to find an RTS to keep me hooked on the gameplay AND story quite like C&C 3
Something about garrisoning my units in pillboxes or structures, always pings my nostalgia the most. Idk why. Just something special about it. Always loved it.
For anybody who wants to play the game remember that the game patches which were solely designed to rebalance multiplayer gameplay, affects the gameplay balance of skirmish/single player, so you can revert the patches to make the skirmish/single player campaign more balanced
Yeah the campaign sucks if you play with the latest patches. A certain defence mission is tedious and once you get to the scrin they have units that can shoot you and they are not even showing on your monitor because they are so far away. That’s when i gave up. There is no roll back of patches if you are playing it on steam.
Yeah, the balance patches screws up the game. I didn't have much difficulties with them though, but they still kinda break the campaign, forcing you to resort to the non-fun or unintended way of playing them.

i remember how back in elementary school there used to be a rumour that the orbital cannon is so bright it can make you go blind if you use it too often
Love this game. It is the best in the Tiberium universe in my opinion, not only for its gameplay, nice graphics and sounds, but mainly because of the Scrin. They are my favorite faction - even though I am a GDI player too - and they add such a nice feeling and lore to the franchise.
Tiberium wars and red alert 2 were my all-time favorite RTS games. And for both, the expansions were great too. Great game design and verity. And the villains were A+
One of my all time favorite games period! I am afraid we will never have an RTS on this level again, everything on it is almost perfect, the atmosphere, sound design, unit call out, soundtrack, cutscenes, graphics still hold up well and the game has depth beyond of what is presented to you also you should check out Generals Evolution Mod for Red Alert 3, most fun I had in years in that genre!
My favorite C&C game is still the first Red Alert, I actually started playing the campaign again last week, but I think C&C3 was the most accomplished of them all. I appreciated that they brought the cheesiness down a level with this one, it got a bit much for me in some of the others like Red Alert 3. I don't think this beats Starcraft 2 in terms of all time greatest but it's still one of the best RTS games ever made, in spite of EA.
"we may never get another good C&C", let me correct: We will never get another good C&C. Wait, even that seems wrong in 2022. Let me try again: We will never get another C&C.
Which one, number 1 or number 2. Number 1 had a dark and well told story, but the campaign missions just felt like skirmish matches, didnt feel unique. Number 2 had unique and playable missions, but the story was phoned in and read more like a fan fiction. The the multiplayer its all about APM, but one thing I never understood was why the giant siege tanks just didnt run over the little zerglings, I much prefer the old mass tank rush of the C&C games over starcraft games as a personal opinion...
According to one theory, Kane is one of the last members of the original Scrin species, who were decimated as a result of a war fought against the Scrin mutated by Tiberium exposure, the same ones who, millennia later, would attack Earth. After the war, the mutated Scrins forgot their origins, but above all they forgot the conflict fought against the original Scrins and became a nomadic people, however their databases retain some data dating back to the period when their home planet began to be infested with Tiberium or before it, including some information about Kane.
ahhhhhh. The LAN parties I had with that one. Everyone carrying their own towers and monitors to some else's place.... I'm getting old. The sound track was (IS) something out of this world.
Just got to say bang on mate 100% one of my FAVORITES absolutely fantastic game and we're did the RTS genre go this is one of the best loved it for many years
I played this on release during what felt like the hay day of gaming. I didn't know a game like this could get better until Kane's Wrath was released, and you had nine beautifully balanced factions with unique ways of playing. Games like this don't seem to get made anymore and it's a real shame what happened to the c&c franchise.

And the villains were A+
Haha I’ve been playing this a fair amount lately.
On a side note, there are really good mods available too.
One of my all time favorite games period! I am afraid we will never have an RTS on this level again, everything on it is almost perfect, the atmosphere, sound design, unit call out, soundtrack, cutscenes, graphics still hold up well and the game has depth beyond of what is presented to you
also you should check out Generals Evolution Mod for Red Alert 3, most fun I had in years in that genre!
This aged like wine. At its time it was „yeah all right“. But today it is a gem of a lost genre
It was the best CC game that I played at time time. I remember playing Lan mode with Friends
They did an amazing job with the world building. I remember feeling dread when fighting in the areas with heavy tiberium infestations.
OH SHIT WELCOME BACK COMMANDER
I played this game soooo much when I was a young lad
"we may never get another good C&C", let me correct: We will never get another good C&C. Wait, even that seems wrong in 2022. Let me try again: We will never get another C&C.
I used to play this for hours & hours on the xbox 360.
I've never heard Mack talk about StarCraft. Now that's the best RTS ever, surely!
Sc is fun, but for me Cnc is where the good stuff is.
i have never felt so good while playing an rts as with CnC
Which one, number 1 or number 2. Number 1 had a dark and well told story, but the campaign missions just felt like skirmish matches, didnt feel unique. Number 2 had unique and playable missions, but the story was phoned in and read more like a fan fiction.
The the multiplayer its all about APM, but one thing I never understood was why the giant siege tanks just didnt run over the little zerglings, I much prefer the old mass tank rush of the C&C games over starcraft games as a personal opinion...
@@unstableordinance First one is great, perfect story, love it! Still occasionally play it, timeless really..
lando was played by billy D williams
when you say i just want to harvest it all im like yes lad. glory to the green crystal
C&C3 is how the older C&C games felt like when playing them in the late 90s and early 00s.
In this review Mac gets into crystal...
The healing power of tiberium...
Great game, but the best RTS for me is Total Annilation!
ahhhhhh.
The LAN parties I had with that one. Everyone carrying their own towers and monitors to some else's place.... I'm getting old.
The sound track was (IS) something out of this world.
Great times playing this on Xbox live with voice chat, way more casual than PC but alot of fun.
I'm old.
Me too bro.. I know what you mean. :)
I have an original copy of this but no CDROM drive to use it. One of the best from what I remember.
Just got to say bang on mate 100% one of my FAVORITES absolutely fantastic game and we're did the RTS genre go this is one of the best loved it for many years
I moved to a place in 2005 and didn't have the internet for a couple years, this and Generals sustained me.
I played this on release during what felt like the hay day of gaming. I didn't know a game like this could get better until Kane's Wrath was released, and you had nine beautifully balanced factions with unique ways of playing. Games like this don't seem to get made anymore and it's a real shame what happened to the c&c franchise.
Played this to death back in the day, it's a shame EA took the multiplayer servers down
