On the doctor vanishes, as a kid i always captured the gdi base, built massive fortifications at the harbour and then triggered the evac. If you capture the gdi space command, on some verisions, the abilities are bugged and you get infinite orbital bombarment and shockwave artillery.
12:17 dont forget. Cranes lost the ability to construct base defense turrets, rendering at least 1 bonus objective (nod campaign I think) unable to be completed.
I for one actually liked the Red Alert and C&C "Gotcha" moments where you triggered an objective and got caught off guard by a mission ending counter attack. Sure, they sucked the first time you played. But like in RA3 with a *Spoiler free* Character turning against you in the soviet campaign. You could stall the mission once you knew the "catch", build a metric ton of tesla towers in their base, and then watch the world burn when they predictably turned against you mid mission. I consider it less of a punishment for not being prepared, more of a reward for replaying the campaign more than once.
"spoiler free" indeed, because the only way to not see that coming was to be blind, deaf, dumb, genre-unfamiliar *and* never even heard of the Soviet campaign in RA2.
Its been 15 years sense a rts of similar gameplay/mechanics ever been made that's not a starcraft clone, which is simply disappointing for the most of us that like basebuilding fortifying locations then only relying on waves of bodies to even defend a single base structure.
What I love about the sub-factions is how, I practically disagree with everything you said about them. I hate the Black Hand due to their limitations and reliance on a few handfuls of core units. Meanwhile, The Marked of Kane I find a lot more fun due to their flexibility, and how their Cyborgs compliment Nod Armor more so that the others. And I find base Nod to be my favorite because of just how many tools you have to adjust to the battle. An other example is Traveler. Traveler isn't a mind control faction, it's an airforce one. The Mind control units let you have cost effective defenses while you build up a unstoppable air force that zoom across the map thanks to the unique techs Traveler has. THIS IS GOOD. That fact that we come to different conclusions and preferences to me mean the sub-factions did what was intended.
15:04 BTW they all come from the port to the west so if you fortify the area with base defences, mainly anti infantry and vehicle turrets, Obelisks of light and SAM sites you can pretty much just sit back and wait for it to leave
Reckoners is really good as base defence since they count as vehicles even in deployed state. Just set war factory at the edge of your base and deploy 2-3 reckoners with 2 rockets and 1 gunners squads within its repair radius. Free heal and veterancy > turrets
“The devoted” was the only mission in kane’s challenge where (regardless of faction) you could get stuck on since you have to early expand and micro to avoid getting out eco’d and gradually steamrolled to death. I make it look easy but it took several tries my first go around to get past it for all the the factions. The other challenges you can literally rinse and repeat w/o much difficulty since the ai patterns don’t change much (they could’ve done a better job at making each challenge more difficult especially with the 2 v 1 final challenge, I hope the pc community can make a mod pack version of this someday). Great video btw, was looking forward to watching it and it appeared in my recommendations today lol 🤝🏾💯
Also a side note on the Steel Talon Titan, only main-battle Tank unit that can shoot over buildings (aka: doesn't have to position itself line-of-sight to attack when in an enemy territory/base, which basically means higher DPS than all the other main tanks in the game)
When you've played many RTS campaigns you know you have to save after your base is settled, before launching a big assault and especially before completing an objective, that's the 1st strategy you learn :D A shame this game had no campaigns for the other factions and the global mode is very limited
Really appeciate a video like this coming out, I'm a loving fan of RTS, C&C3: Kane's Wrath was seriously unlike any other RTS i've ever played. I'm not even a PC player either lmao, my first RTS was Aliens Vs Predator Extinction when i was like 6yrs old, fantastic little RTS game btw, then Halo wars came out and i was hooked, But once i got my hands on Kane's Wrath?? on the 360?? I was mind blown. all the little things and the quality of this game was mindblowing to me at the time, the grim dark vibe, spawning in a redzone or some Yellowzone maps and hearing the windy desolate air, looking at the loving detail the devs put into the environment. The dried and cracked soil, tiberium cystals sprouting everywhere from the earth, the heavy polluted clouds casting their shadows over the ground. Every little animation of infantry, the cute idle animations of the GDI engineer, bro will put his little suitcase on the ground and take a sip of water if you watch him, select him ready for an order and he'll pick up his suitcase and get ready to run for the olympics. Don't get me started on his death animation. Breaks my heart thinking about it. The qaulity of this game destroys me because nothing like this will be made again likely.
If the 360 servers were still up, i’d ask for your gamer tag lol. my own experience mirrors your own, having been introduced to the game as a little kid near its release. i miss C&C and i doubt we’ll ever get a remaster of kane’s wrath, but we can dream.
As someone who didn't get around to Kane's Wrath until last year, I found it to be a fun expansion to C&C 3 that added a lot of things the base game needed (like putting the walkers back where they belong). If C&C 4 ever gets made, the global conquest mode would have made a solid basis for a new game that added new mechanics to the franchise. Imagine a story mode where you're given a number of credits to purchase your starting roster before each mission, with the total credits influenced by the difficulty level and your success in the previous mission.
Kanes challenge would test you and take you by surprise if you treat it like a campaign / skirmish. Different ones would turtle, rush and steamroll. But overall it'd keep you adapting especially more to the final challenges. It was a curve for sure
Excellent review / revisit. C&C 3 was great, yet Kane's Wrath made it even more interesting. I agree with the critique on some of the missions, but for skirmish and online the new factions and units were great additions.
Still looks good and reminds me of my endless backlog :D . I've owned C&C 3 for ages but never played it, in part due to the fact that I was always hoping for a second remaster bundle from EA with RA2 and Tiberian Sun so I could play the whole saga back to back but it's been a looong wait and I guess it ain't happening anymore. Oh well, if and when I get around to that C&C replay, I guess I will have to resort to mods for RA2 and Tiberian Sun. It's definitely one of my fav gaming series of all time.
Hey so I didn’t see this mentioned but if you want a mod that sort of fixes issues you have (like visual design variation and some gameplay niches), then I heavily recommend the one vision mod! It’s an astounding mod that fixes most of those small tid bits while giving new stuff! Also thanks for making this video, I really enjoyed it!
The 30 FPS lock does have a huge impact on the game feel mainly in how it affects the mouse input. The mouse is an extremely granular instrument compared to keyboards or analog gamepads, so the difference is going to be much more perceptible. If you switch between the 2D and 3D C&Cs it's a night and day difference in how the mouse control feels. This is mainly why I would love to see official remasters of the 3D games where this is addressed. Some more modern shaders, lighting and texture materials would be the cherry on top.
Wake up! The Messia- I mean a new Zade video is up. Joe Kucan will and always be Kane, he nailed the role so hard. Not sure if he still holds the Guiness Record for Longest running actor in a video-game series. I was hoping you would bring up the One Vision Mod.
When I was 6th form at school, me and the boys would finish the day, would get some "herbs" to smoke, go back to my place and play a ridiculous 4 hour skirmish against the Scrin. Good times
CnC KW is a great expansion and adds a lot of changes that are beyond feeling essential as I never consider, for better or worse, the additional "factions" are pretty nice however I will say that Mark of Kane is a faction that feels half baked in some way, and I mean that I think its meant to be an infantry focus faction but I feel like it fails considerably, like sure the cyborg units can disable vehicle and structures but that isn't enough. Though everything else is amazing, its great the battle bases and guardian turrets get the railgun upgrade.
This expansion really is very awesome. I love the mission design and storyline. I do agree about the surprise 'extra' objectives.. but once you know its fun to prep for them :)
LOL, The voice of Kakashi (Naruto dub version) is '' Kane's assistant'' and the voices on the battlefield (such as the 2023 comment! ) .The not so big world of voice acting. Cool video Zade (A)
Just beat a Kane's Challenge for Base GDI. The game mode is playing one of the 9 factions and playing 10 rounds for each - 1v1 against each faction and a final 1v2. The AI is simplistic, the main goal for all opponents is to spread throughout the map and gather all the Tiberium and they send a cheap force. I know they have the resources but they don't build their super power weapon and send just one heavy armor unit after every 7th or so attack squad. Once you get rid of their main building needed for construction, then you just clean up the map - then it is hide and seek. I needed to hunt down powered down turrets and expansion buildings to win the challenge. The only real threat I faced were 1 Scrin faction who built a 5-7 devastor ship squad. And Base Nod faction who actually built their nukes and sent all forms of units including the epic one the Redeemer. Base Nod is competent, they built their war factories in the next tiberium field by my base and they succeeded in destroying me with endless avatars, stealth tanks and a commando. I had to unpack my MCV and run. I won but just barely with a MARV.
If you're after a dedicated C&C Tiberium universe lore channel, check out Jethead, he recently uploaded a video dedicated to the GDI tanks and such, he's been doing this for the past few years
as someone who played Kanes challenge on console i personally really enjoyed it, but thinking back it was basically just a chain of skirmish games with escalating difficulty. The loose story of being Kanes new prospect was fun tho, gotta love joe. As a final note C&C online is the best way to play multiplayer, again just follow the instructions not too difficult.
Mine fav faction are Marked of Kane. True their infaltry is not cheap but it will do the job. I love their EMP abillity. With a little micro 5 enlightment squads can perm stunlock MARV and destroy it. Their upgrated venoms are also very powerfull. But the best thing is their cyberupgeated legs that makes enlightenen, tiberium troopers and sabatures very and I mean very fast so you can do when you got lot of money you can quickly push your front while tiberium troopers destroy all heavier-infaltry and garissons while enlightment can take almost any enemy tank and their venoms gives nice anti-air support while sabatures can capture specific buildings or capture enemy base to steal their tech or make a foothold.
Awesome video! Only things I highly miss in this video are mod support(Which famous mods do we have? what about WrathEd?) and Sage Meta Tool! Allows 60fps without all the downsides previous 60fps fixes had and allows lua scripting and much more!!
This game was FIRE, and I feel like it aged super well. The last dying gasp of the RTS genre. Unfortunately, things haven't progressed visually or gameplay wise since this game. Oh man, the live action segments were GREAT!
10:41 This is exactly what I think every single time. 16:11 I think you can shoot it a couple times with a beam cannon and call it a day, but you have to invest in it right from the start. 30:01 No, no, he's got a point. 34:22 It was also quite unbalanced. Took me 100+ turns to win as GDI and only about 20 to win as Nod. Not a hard fix, though, in my opinion, because they really just needed to tweak the win conditions. And Scrin? I'm pretty sure I just gave up. 40:27 I'm sure you've seen other comments mentioning it already, but Masterleaf made a 4K add-on mod, which could probably pair with the one you mentioned. 40:57 Yep, took a whole morning for me to set up, but I got it! I registered through Command Post first, so I had to make 3 separate accounts. Worth it, though, because it makes it a lot easier to download the fan patches like 1.02+ or 1.03. I recommend making all of your passwords the same if you're comfortable with that, because it is a nightmare to deal with when they aren't. The cancelled "Tiberium" FPS would've made such a great sequel (finale?). Good video overall. I'll rate it 1 Kane's Wrath out of infinity C&C4s.
I preordered this game when I was a teenager. I had to take the bus to the gamestop and fork over what little money I had. I tell you this was one of the most satisfying purchases ever. This expansion is pretty fucking great.
Great vid. I was a fan for C&C for years. Iove the original, RA and Tiberian Sun. As each game in the series continued the game speed got faster and it relied on explosion effects for excitement. I loved the slow pace of the 3 I mentioned. Having to decide on how to use your resources best, do you build a couple of tanks or a helipad and orca. Can you hold a chokepoint long enough for your reinforcements to get there or do you pull back? Tanks were slow but felt weighty and each one felt important, individual troops felt precious enough to save. Later games always looked like mobbing the enemies with sheer force of numbers. Smashing two piles of units together and hope you had something left by the end of it.
I had a fun time with it, I still have the original physical DVD of it ... although, I don't have a drive to run it 😅 My copy came with a beta-key for Red Alert 3, so it was almost a 2-in-1 deal for me.
If people are interested in playing Kane's Wrath they should definitely check out the 4k remaster add on I made, as well as the popular community patch 1.02+ R20 (which is in mod map form). Both are made to work with eachother and is adopted by everyone on the cnc online server.
CnC 3 Kane's Wrath 15 years already? Just like 20 years anniversary of Warcraft III - Frozen Throne, both addons are a freaking masterpieces from the golden era of RTS.
Zade talking aboutcmy favorite CnC game and its standalone expansion is dope. IMO tibwars and more importantly KW is the best CnC ever, I know many will disagree but I remember going to buy it after release when i was in middle school. It also played insanely well on console imo.
Still one of the best RTS games mechanically and with many cool engine features and properties and a strong non-cheat AI. On top of that it has a full SDK kit to customize (for Tiberium Wars) and mod and heaps of custom maps and a map editor.

Also can crush other vehicles of equal or lower tech level.
I've still got my disc copies from of C&C3 and KW from when they were new. Played them on Windows XP back then, still playing them today!
I cant believe it's been 15 years. wtf.. that makes me really sad. I have a deep passion for this game LOVE/HATE.
Love the use of the Tib Sun music… it’s so metallic with an unsettling undertone
48-minute long C&C video from Zade? I guess I'll be on the treadmill for 48 minutes today 😎
When you've played many RTS campaigns you know you have to save after your base is settled, before launching a big assault and especially before completing an objective, that's the 1st strategy you learn :D
A shame this game had no campaigns for the other factions and the global mode is very limited
it is SO sad that we cant have such games anymore.
No 4k mod active 😢
you popped into my feed out of nowhere but I really enjoyed this video. So much love for KW
C&C 3 and KW are my favorite RTS games ever and theyre what got me into the genre, Quality all around.
Excellent review / revisit. C&C 3 was great, yet Kane's Wrath made it even more interesting. I agree with the critique on some of the missions, but for skirmish and online the new factions and units were great additions.
Not once did I ever expect to see FriendlyJordies in a C&C video! Classic!
Good job mate, keep up the content!
I always loved the FMVs in these games, it always felt like Joe Kucan and the other actors had an absolute blast blatantly chewing the scenery.
You can gauge how popular logistic RTSes are, by looking at the Anno series popularity.
Anno♥️
Here I was scrolling through innocently only to see the title remind me how old I am & hit me like a bomb. Thanks
Finding videos like these are nice after replaying these games so many years later.
Hope you enjoyed!
IN THE NAME OF KANE! PEACE THROUGH POWER!
he who controls the past controls the present!
Good times
scrin were always the hardest
man this used to be in my top 3 of strategy games that I owned. Loved Kane's Wrath campaign so much
CnC KW is a great expansion and adds a lot of changes that are beyond feeling essential as I never consider, for better or worse, the additional "factions" are pretty nice however I will say that Mark of Kane is a faction that feels half baked in some way, and I mean that I think its meant to be an infantry focus faction but I feel like it fails considerably, like sure the cyborg units can disable vehicle and structures but that isn't enough.
Though everything else is amazing, its great the battle bases and guardian turrets get the railgun upgrade.
Got it Last night on that summer steam sale thing and now looking at you people making awesome content ... STILL HOLDS UP !!
nice!!! enjoy :D
Loved the lilmaz jordy reference 😂😂 great video mate, I loved tiberium sun and wars, just wish there was a sequel to kanes wrath 😅
The best part of the Black Hand is that if you have them attack move they become a ball of fire wrecking everything in their path. Super fun faction.
15/16 years later & C&C 3 & kane's Wrath is still one of the best rts games.
It is way past time for a new game like this one.
This expansion really is very awesome. I love the mission design and storyline. I do agree about the surprise 'extra' objectives.. but once you know its fun to prep for them :)
I'm glad you included a reference to that wolverine 2023 voice line. 😂
Between you and tightrope gaming I think NZ might just be a lowkey RTS youtuber hotspot. Great video, as always.
Preach brother. C&C 3 lives rent free in my heart forever. I wish EA would make a real sequel/remake of Tib war.
My all time favorite rts , was playing the campaign this week 🤣
15 years, jesus christ
This game was excellent, thanks for the great video doing it justice
LOL, The voice of Kakashi (Naruto dub version) is '' Kane's assistant'' and the voices on the battlefield (such as the 2023 comment! ) .The not so big world of voice acting.
Cool video Zade (A)
Too bad no one ever made a C&C 4...
Kane's Wrath skirmish matches is peak RTS.
and it looks so good
There are very few in its class that's true. Personally I still have a love for its global conquest mode too.
@@EvansdiAlGraphics are pretty good to this day. Makes you wonder wat a current cnc with a good budget and passionate developers would look like.
Ah sweet RTS goodness for my eyes and ears, great video mate!
thanks mate!
If you're after a dedicated C&C Tiberium universe lore channel, check out Jethead, he recently uploaded a video dedicated to the GDI tanks and such, he's been doing this for the past few years
KW was the best C&C game ever, i play C&C OpenRa Combined Armes since weeks, absolutly great
i just finished the campaign in Kane's Wrath again recently, its still a good game.
The "then" nonexistent C&C4, 2023 and we're still waiting for that 4th game to arrive
as someone who played Kanes challenge on console i personally really enjoyed it, but thinking back it was basically just a chain of skirmish games with escalating difficulty.
We STILL play this (and Jedi Outcast) on a local network. Timeless.
Kanes lives!
I didn't grew up with C&C, so this is going to be a very interesting watch for me !
Good fucking god, its been 15 years? Seems like I was playing this only yesterday.
👴 ikr...
I'll rate it 1 Kane's Wrath out of infinity C&C4s.
went back to c&Q 3 and kanes warth a few months ago still as amazing as the relese date
I preordered this game when I was a teenager. I had to take the bus to the gamestop and fork over what little money I had. I tell you this was one of the most satisfying purchases ever. This expansion is pretty fucking great.
This game is 15yrs old? God it feels like yesterday I was at my grandmas house playing TibSun and RA2 on a Windows 98
Good point. Indvidual units in the original c&c were more valuable. Cnc 3 had more spam going on.
Both are made to work with eachother and is adopted by everyone on the cnc online server.
thank you zade for this epic talk shoutouts to my favourite caster sybert
CnC 3 Kane's Wrath 15 years already? Just like 20 years anniversary of Warcraft III - Frozen Throne, both addons are a freaking masterpieces from the golden era of RTS.
Zade talking aboutcmy favorite CnC game and its standalone expansion is dope. IMO tibwars and more importantly KW is the best CnC ever, I know many will disagree but I remember going to buy it after release when i was in middle school. It also played insanely well on console imo.
Ah yes, the peak of the series
Had never the problem with the campaign but its more because i love to clear the map :D
I wouldn't even be mad if they were to remaster CnC3 and KW, it deserves a little love. Clamoring for Tibsun and RA2 first though
Still one of the best RTS games mechanically and with many cool engine features and properties and a strong non-cheat AI. On top of that it has a full SDK kit to customize (for Tiberium Wars) and mod and heaps of custom maps and a map editor.
