This game is great, and some of my favorite memories was playing the hell out of this after high school with my best friend. Lol good times. Honestly though, Red Alert 1 was definitely my favorite one. You could set the computer on very hard on skirmish mode, and I absolutely loved the chaos and challenge. I would defend my base with mostly pillboxes while the computer sent out these massive waves, and I always loved the challenge of seeing how long I could survive. Just under half the time I was able to make it, since pillboxes are affordable and are decent against most targets. If done properly, they actually took out tanks fairly well if you created a sort of bottleneck with a few artillery in the back.
I remember this one map a friend and I made for online multiplayer. It had four equal corners, and in the center was a whole slew of AA and AG defenses controlled by a hostile NPC faction, and near each corner was a single innocuous power plant that one could reach without getting slaughtered by the defenses which was owned by the same faction. Each corner also had an unclaimed nuclear power plant right near the small area where you could build. The trick to the map was that you MUST NOT destroy or capture the NPC power plants near the center of the map. Instead, you'd use a certain unit to shut the power plant down temporarily to turn the power off on all of those turrets in the middle of the map so you could run through and attack the enemy during the small time window you'd have. Of course, if you did take/destroy the power plants, then you're screwed, you just have to wait until your enemy attacks you. Well... there was this time when we played against a couple random opponents, and we both chose USA because this was the ultimate turtle map. Few resources, and you had to know what the map was about... both of the opponents were playing soviets. They thought they were awesome with their big huge tanks and they used their Hero (the one that calls Airstrikes) to slowly thin out the middle of the map. While we waited, we covered our side of the map with gap generators so they couldn't see what was going on. When they did finally cross, way later? They found probably a _hundred_ or more deployed GIs that ripped their tanks to shreds in seconds. Airdrop is no joke especially in a map with resource starvation. They both forfeited after their failed offensive, lol.
An ever growing op line of prism towers extending into an enemy base like the devil's long and muscular clawed hand reaching out to impale you.... ooooft! I played as France the other day in a 1v1 brutal ai and managed to build 3 grand cannons on the front borderline of their base next to the midland oilfield in May Day (one of my favorite maps). and not only did that secure my place in the only land based choke point but they also didn't even have any naval or air support to bypass or destroy it. So yeah aircraft carriers and chorono legionairs to hit them in the soft spots while they were held back won me the game 😊

Put in an engineer to AVP (i forgot the vehicle name/vehicle that can fixed) and bring it behind 2 prism tanks to enemy land (you don't have to clicked the target, just stay around in curtain area, they know what they have to do). That's the 1 thing you have to do before make a grand canon. And you're victorious quickly.
No it really couldn't. France is an extremely map dependent faction, and this map is a very strong for France. France is overpowered when the grand cannons allow you to control neutral areas/resources (IE, the gem field), from positions that by default belong to you. In this map you can build grand cannons from your starting location that allow you to very easily control the center gem field. The fact that this map is very small also means you can easily base walk as well. This simply isn't the case for most non-island maps.
@@maxwilliams9203 agreed - the only way they could have won was if they both attacked at the same time before he set up with a cannon. That's a silly-sized map for more than two players damn. I guess it's faster but it benefits some factions more than others. Americans basically have nothing anymore since paratroops main selling point is frontline deployment / flanking, british snipers have nothing to do, iraq has nowhere to deploy desolators for zoning, libyan trucks can't sneak in. Leaves only Korea, France, Germany, Russia and Cuba with viable unique technologies, every other faction is a non-pick (unless you can justify picking america for revealing the map with the paratrooper plane)

This 15 minute game would have taken 3 weeks in 2000. Playing at night-time when we could use the phone line for our 56k Modems and units moving 1 pixel per 10 seconds.
France is easy to defeat, but the hardest ones are Yuri and British bc of snipers on watch duty inside the base and Yuri's too who instantly takes control over your units such as spy's, engineers, chronos etc.
Never played this game before, but i'm surprised that buildings can be erected immediately. Also the resource gathering is kinda unique. Then again, all i'm playing is starcraft 2 and warcraft 3
Man I remember playing this. Never played multiayer cause of dial up. But I loved the french grand cannon. Best gun in the game. Always have one ready to set up at a moments notice. Set up two pillboxes and an aa turret next to it and it's basically untouchable.
I would 100% pay a subscription for a remastered RA2. It boggles my mind why video game companies won't just polish graphics and game mechanics and resell the game. This game and Savage 2 would be a deadly combo if rereleased.
Put up the base and cover. 4 Chrono miners, then 4 battle fortresses with a chronolegionaire and 4 guardian GI's loaded, 10 Prisms and 4 IFV's loaded with engineers on guard... With GB, a sniper on each battle fortress is the best.
My favorite part of this is the complaints about “France makes map unplayable” after literally everyone on the map tried (and failed) to beat one player. The Grand Cannons didn’t even factor in 2 of the 4 major attacks because they were naval assaults. 🤣
Yep. Yellow screwed up his first naval assault by just letting Bryan put out dolphins to ruin his Dreads. Then yellow wasted his Rhinos + IC on unimportant structures at the edge of the base instead of going in for something more important. Then orange sent in all his tanks and got absolutely nothing for it. Orange also spent a crapload of money on dolphins that couldn't do anything because nobody else was heavy on naval. Of course they couldn't defend against Grand Cannon base walking after wasting money and units on such bad plays. Maybe Grand Cannons are nasty, but at the same time, playing poorly also makes the map unplayable.
Glad to see people still playing this game.

Yep. ua-cam.com/video/69Zq6Re42k4/v-deo.html
Nice! What platform do you use to play vs others online?
My old fav game when i was 6
Ah, the France Grand 'Get off my fking lawn' Cannon...
hahaha i died laughing
how did you get Red Alert 2 playable? I got it running but it was super small and basically unplayable no matter what resolution I set it to

Where can i download current game.
I couldnt find my cd anymore
Is Bryan Vahey making a "This is why everyone hates X on Command & Conquer Red Alert 2" series?
Sure hope so.
OHHHHHHHHH MAI GOT
That's a silly-sized map for more than two players damn. I guess it's faster but it benefits some factions more than others. Americans basically have nothing anymore since paratroops main selling point is frontline deployment / flanking, british snipers have nothing to do, iraq has nowhere to deploy desolators for zoning, libyan trucks can't sneak in. Leaves only Korea, France, Germany, Russia and Cuba with viable unique technologies, every other faction is a non-pick (unless you can justify picking america for revealing the map with the paratrooper plane)
The best RA2 games are the ones that everyone starts with a 30min NAP. That was so much fun
"If Napoleon would have stayed an artillery lieutenant, he would still be on the throne" Henry Monier ^^
This game needs to remastered for modern PCs.
I love this game!
Have to subscribe because this was/is one of my favourite childhood PC games. Glad I was recommended this video too :)
"So am I bryan". Dude legit iron curtained you. He can duck right off
Which version of the game is it cause i cant seem to play the origin one

What's the reason you built all those gap generators next to each other?
Old base games like this remind me of dune 2000 god I miss that game 😭
I don't think I ever played dune 2000! I always just saw the advertisement on the back of my RA2 CD case haha
@@BryanVahey it's made by Westwood aswell it's a awesome game definitely worth checking out. Wish I had a PlayStation 1 to get it again 🤣 very similar to this. 3 factions. The recourse is called spice each whilst the troops the same for each faction they each have 1 that's different from the rest.. I remember the green guys had a missile launcher that turned a enemy tank friendly briefly. Seriously worth checking it out if you love C&C
how do you play on this resolution ?? and what is this map
Nice game! What's the song playing towards the end?
thanks man. That's the credit song from yuris revenge campaign
This 15 minute game would have taken 3 weeks in 2000. Playing at night-time when we could use the phone line for our 56k Modems and units moving 1 pixel per 10 seconds.
Lmao I know right? Good times LOL
Whats the purpose of multiple generators?
Impressive with the Grand Cannons! These OP videos are a subtle flex :)
Where can you still play RA2 online ?
ua-cam.com/video/69Zq6Re42k4/v-deo.html
France is easy to defeat, but the hardest ones are Yuri and British bc of snipers on watch duty inside the base and Yuri's too who instantly takes control over your units such as spy's, engineers, chronos etc.
so smooth! running in compatibility mode?? and what setting for full screen like that ahhh I want mine like that
Imagine you are dominating and encroaching your French neighbor and they suddenly build a giant cannon
fun fact: you can use radar jammer to increse the range where you can put buildings towards your enemy.
Yep!
I want to download this game but doesn't know which website i can download with keygen.
How do you do that the camera in Red Alert 2 is zoomed out, like in this video.

@@BryanVahey Thanks!
Wow that music gave me some kind of euphoric nostalgia
More than a decade ago i was way too anxious for this game
Now, i still am
at 4:00 can't you use the rockies to shoot down the missiles
they get damaged when the rockets explode midair.
this old game still make my heart race
Where can I get a playable version of this damn game. One of my favorites. Can't find it ANYWHERE?
It’s on steam
Never played this game before, but i'm surprised that buildings can be erected immediately. Also the resource gathering is kinda unique. Then again, all i'm playing is starcraft 2 and warcraft 3
The building "building phase" is the cooldown before you build them. Also the base can be moved and you can buy another base
You tap them .
They will go on a cool-down.
Then you wait and put them down
0:00 - 0:31 , 2:05 - 3:13 , 3:26 - 3:41 = I'm just air drumming while watching
loved this game, used to be able to fight against 7 max difficulty enemies
this new elijiah wood movie is really experimental
Man I remember playing this. Never played multiayer cause of dial up. But I loved the french grand cannon. Best gun in the game. Always have one ready to set up at a moments notice. Set up two pillboxes and an aa turret next to it and it's basically untouchable.

What is that lag?!
Baby don't hurt me
Where to find this game nowadays?
I wish there was a mod that allowed me to have the entire allied arsenal and the entire Soviet arsenal and not have to choose by country.
I would 100% pay a subscription for a remastered RA2. It boggles my mind why video game companies won't just polish graphics and game mechanics and resell the game. This game and Savage 2 would be a deadly combo if rereleased.
I keep clicking on the screen XD As if I am playing...lmao.
RED2 and Yuri's revenge was amazing .
Loved the video.
Put up the base and cover. 4 Chrono miners, then 4 battle fortresses with a chronolegionaire and 4 guardian GI's loaded, 10 Prisms and 4 IFV's loaded with engineers on guard... With GB, a sniper on each battle fortress is the best.
"This is why everyone hates FRANCE..."
"Yeah..."
"... on Command & Conquer Red Alert 2."
"Whats Command & Conquer Red Alert 2?"
@@mjc0961 if someone had Korea, those GCs would have been worth nothing.
