I can't stress enough how important voice acting is in an RTS. you're going to be hearing these same voice clips hundreds of thousands of times and the best ones are iconic and never leave your head.
Also fun fact: The actor who plays Kane was one of the original developers of the first Command & Conquer. When they were making the first C&C their budget was really limited so they were really having a problem on who to get to play Kane and they basically voted that programmer because of his look and voice. Thus Kane was born…
Joe Kucan was casting director, but there were certain other devs who played minor roles of GDI and NOD soldiers. My favorite highlights are Daniel Kucan (Joe's brother) playing the boyfriend on TV and later other roles, Frank Klepacki (the game's composer) getting killed as a Nod cyberspace soldier. Then there's Eric Gooch who not only plays Seth but is also the game's graphics artist, meaning he animated his own death.
Units also have directional armor. Tanks take 110% damage from the sides and 125% damage from the back. So you can be really rewarded for flanking. Oh, and calling Kane a villain is heresy. He's clearly humanity's savior.
@@steelbear2063 wanna talk about how fun and disgusting it is when you use your scrin commander, capture a building in your enemy base, build signal transmitter and build the mother ship and just whip their base off the planet Satisfyingly disgusting but fun
@@heroiccombatengineer6018 I wish they could have incorporated him into KW more than just killing him off screen. It makes sense that GDI would take him out and put a puppet like Marcion in his place, since he took the Black Hand public and seemed to be a worthy successor to Kane.
Kane was a coward and trator who long ago lost faith in the purity that is tiberium his violent dermis was the result of his own lies blast for mes and he will be brought down to the pit of hell and all there Will stair at him lask can this be the one who shok there earth and the kingdoms of would
Fun fact about the vehicles, you mention you can reverse them. Well, that is also because vehicles have armor, and if your tanks say, turn and flee, they will take more damage than if you have them reverse move so they can keep their stronger frontal armor facing the incoming enemy fire.
@@adrianaslund8605 But there is much more details and they are waaay more complex than you can imagine. And the funny part is: They just compressed that game into 4.5GB's. I played both games a lot of hours. Love both, but as history of the series, the story campaign and the gameplay mechanics; I prefer Kane's Wrath.
Fun Fact: The Scrin who the Nod and the GDI barely within an inch of their lives defeated was only a mining expedition looking to simply harvest the tiberium that prematurely grew thanks to Kane. Also, Tiberium Twilight doesn't exist
The most frightening thing about the Marked of Kane is that every unit is a revivified dead Nod soldier. That means that every Nod soldier you killed in the earlier games most likely became either an Awakened or an Enlightened. Karma and all that. Reaper-17 is OP is their own way. They have the means to create infinite resources with one of their support structures.
The great thing about the factions from Kane's Wrath are the fact that they are major callbacks to Tiberium sun. Steel Talons make use of alot of the Second Tiberium war units, the Titan is the MK2 version. Marked of Kane are born from the cyborg initiatives from the second Tiberium War, and the Black Hand became a powerful sub faction under the popular Nod Commander Anton Slavik.
I loved playing Kane's Wrath, but I couldn't help but feel like it was very apologetic to the fanbase after C&C3 Tiberium Wars was widely criticized for ignoring a ton of developments in Tiberian Sun
@@CaptMorgan1st I think its because the timeline is such a huge change too, but they still make it FEEL like C&C, Kane's Wrath campaign wise slots between C&C2 and C&C3 so makes sense to have a transition of units between them. There's lots of great ingame database explaining some of the advances, why technology changed from walkers to tanks for ease of production and maintenance plus Nod getting wise on how to sabotage their main "tank" devision, GDI moving from a fighting force they clearly needed as in C&C they "killed" Kane but Nod still lived through to the conclusion of C&C 2, it was only after a known hero killed Kane in combat that they officially defeated Nod so funding was cut to the military devision and repurposed for Tiberium containment.
Something neat I always found when playing it as a kid was that the voices for some squads would change as they lose guys. If you lose all the militants in a squad and leave the Confessor leader he has unique dialogues, same with the GDI sniper teams if the marksman dies the spotter sounds terrified to be left alone.
C&C3 unit voices have a lot of detail. Like, when order a low health unit back to near building it will sometimes used different voiceline like "Back to base!" for Mammoth tank or "If it's Kane will" for Redeemer. Or infantry unit occasionally shout a callout when engage in battle like "Incoming!" or "Get down!" making the battle feels more immersive. Some Scrin unit also have some ambient noise to them like Tripods will occasionally making howling sound (which is probably also a reference to War of the world).
@@crazy_man7578 Yeah they really nailed the voicelines in C&C3. Generals will always be my favourite for just how charismatic and varied and lovable the unit voicelines are. But C&C3 battles are always so fun to just listen to, without even actually observing the battle.
Cnc3 voice acting is probably one of the best in any game ever. Some quotes are legendary and badass. ‘Mammoth tank’ and Nod rocket troopers. They’re all awesome
C&C 3 was so incredible, easily the best entry in the series (and that comes from someone who loved pretty much every C&C game from Tiberium Conflict to C&C 3, including Red Alert 1 and 2). When the Scrin showed up halfway through a certain Nod mission, I was absolutely stunned with how incredibly well it was handled.
I think the mission was called Outback; it still gives me goosebumps the way scrin invasion affected the whole world and even made GDI fall for Nod's aid as they were witnessing the absolute destruction the aliens were bringing upon them.
Thanks for the vid, Kane's Wrath was such a great game :) I'd not really thought about the unit queues and fast build times being such a big thing for the gameplay, it's crazy how much thought and effort must have gone into it between the multiplayer and the campaigns.
Yeah, love his red alert casting. Spartacus TV is also a good caster, shame he hasn't uploaded in the past years. At least he's still collab with Sybert.
Just played through C&C3 again recently, it still holds up well these days, but that may be partially because there's no RTS games out there that's managed to capture the same polish. I just hope they keep up with the remakes. Red alert 2, Generals and Kane's wrath are the big three for me. They did a good job with the origional remakes, keeping them feeling the same, not interfering too much with it, but making it run smooth and look good without taking away from the original aesthetics.
C&C 3 really managed to finally nail the UI and controls, so it still feels great to play. And while the graphics weren't cutting-edge, they made amazing use of existing tools to make something that still looks good even though it doesn't have all the toys.
Anyone notice that bricky went from the apex depression to a video about total war: Warhammer 3 and now command and conquer? I think he's reached the stage of acceptance.
The variety of voice actors for the NOD faction made them so iconic in my opinion. The exaggerated Britishness of the saboteur, to the south preacher style fanaticism of the flame tank and the grim impatience of the avatar. You cant beat it.
Nod are supposed to be full of fanatical cultists. it makes perfect sense to have them like this. they are terrorists. but I love them. their tech is many ways more advanced than GDI, the supposed NATO like organisation with limitless resources. but since Nod have the Tacitus, they get lots of tech from that alien tech, I suppose. plus, Kane's presence makes them extra radical.
I was obsessed with Traveler-59 as a kid. I won a few lan-parties because I was the only one there to figure out that the devastator's weapon range is longer than their visual range. I just rushed devastators and then manually targeted the fog of war where I suspected the enemy buildings were, way outside of the range of any anti-air defenses or even the enemy's mini-map.
lol that was my strategy for empire in red alert 3. The shogun battleships were the same way, and I could erase their entire power grid before they saw my ships. I never got to play much scrin but that long-range bombardment strat is always a good time (same with inferno cannons in generals too).
@@lordofthepatrick The AI doesn't know the range, the AI has the minimap enabled at all times, so their artillery automatically assumes the longest firing range.
Fun fact there's still paying tournaments and matches going on daily. If you're interested the way to do it is CNC online hosted by Revora and Command Post, it even has mod support, So you can play modded multiplayer, There was a tournament recently using the "One vision" Mod that Cybert covered. Also, Masterleaf, one of the main competitive players released a 4k texture pack for the game as well as a fps unlimited a while back.
Sybert, Spartacus, BikeRush, Green Zero, Dune Tiger, Masterleaf, a heap of Russian players all make good CnC content. My favourite is GZ but each their own
One little Correction, the Talon Units are not Experimental, its the old Stuff they build during Tiberium Wars, and once it was to expensive to upkeep it was put into Storage, but in Kanes Wrath they brought it out of Storage since everything is needed now again.
They definitely are an experimental group and even are described as such in game, focused on advancing and improving the technologies used in tib war 2 like the walker and hover tech, rather than just letting it all be lost to time. GDI didn't have the funds to continue the research and development across the whole military but were able to allow a single division to continue developing the tech. The new juggernauts used in the third war and the slingshots were examples of new tech developed by Steel Talons and incorporated into the rest of the GDI military. The titans and wolverines they use aren't the same either, they're new versions taking advantage of new technologies and fixing some of the flaws of the originals, and while they're still too expensive to be widely adopted the various new technologies being developed for them has still been adopted for other purposes across GDI.
Steel Talons are experimental warfare because GDI aren't funding them as much anymore and the walkers that the Talons use are usually Mark II versions of the ones in Tib Sun. Most of GDI's funding goes to ZOCOM because during the interim years between the firestorm crisis and the 3rd tiberium war GDI wanted to focus the funding on ways to prevent the spread of tiberium. Sonic weapons that GDI and specifically ZOCOM field are tuned to the harmonic frequency that tiberium has and shatters it on a molecular level.
Man, I'm 23 now and grew up watching my dad play Generals and TW3. When I was 12 he allowed me to play with him and gave me his old, dusty ass laptop and it was freaking ecstatic, I was so unbelievably hyped that I was allowed to play with him. I still play Zero Hour mods with my brother from time to time and they hold up pretty well. I freaking love Command and Conquer man
The GDI mission where you play a commando on his own is one of my favorite missions in video games. Also another memory with this series & EA just being total fucks. The first game they have made in years & TB's wife on stream said she was glad her husband was dead because this announcement would have broken his heart. Rip TB.

“Purge them with flame!” I am an old school C&C fan all the way back to the original game. Kane’s Wrath and CC3 were some of my favorite iterations. Beefy flame troops for the win. Also when Kane murks Seth in the first game, little 14 yr old me was like 😱
Same. I've been playing since the original. I just watched a ranking where some younger guy put Renegade above the two original games. I think that's the worst kind of blasphemy.
So true, though I must say usually RTS games have a visual aging advantage because they are zoomed out, so you don't need high resolution textures to make them look good. Haegemonia is a space RTS from 2001 or something and it still looks surprisingly good for its age.
Last time I checked, there was only one 60 fps mod and it is paywalled on patreon. The damn 60gps mod costs like a whole game and it not even finished.
Absolutely, the game still looks amazing! The amount of details eclipses whatever lack of high resolution or fancy light reflection that might be missing.
I played so much of this online with my friend. We both loved playing Scrin. The Tiberium growth , the air carriers spamming ships but most of all the mothership. It was always so satisfying when the blast created a chain reaction and ended up destroying an entire base.
@@additiveartificer9365 that's an excellent way to put it. I have watched countless Generals, RA3 and CnC3 casts where players win the game over from impossible odds
The sound of the tripods shooting their lasers is both a form of PTSD and immense pleasure for me. It sounds so pretty, but it's so, SO menacing when you know that you're about to get your shit kicked in.
Honestly just my skirmish matches against AI Scrin in general are enough to give me war flashbacks, I fucking swear their AI is hardset a difficulty above what you put them on in comparison to the other factions, neglect defending your tiberium field and they'll bully you off of it and leave you to economically starve, only to pull back their assault to let you writhe in the futility of your situation... Scrin AI were fucking evil.

"If it moves, kill it!" From the nod rocket squad has to be my favorite line in any RTS game. Beaten only by "It is better to die for the Emperor than live for yourself." From dawn of war
I think most people don't know this, in 1999's Tiberian Sun, there is a battle over a mysterious crashed alien vessel that used to be in Nod's possession. While it's not mentioned anywhere else, if you hover the mouse over the spaceship, it will say "Scrin Ship". That had me scratching my head for a while at that time, and it wasn't untill many years of playing CnC3 that i connected it.
Lore wise it shouldnt be scrin Because the tacitus doesnt talk about scrin There are many theories thstsuppot the fact that scrin is a mutated species It's like the forgotten for us And what the tacitus talking about is their previous species before scrin takes over probably called "The ascended" Maybe they wanted to warn humanity from tiberuim? Who knows
The game is alive! You can play it online and with a 4k texture pack! The community has done a great job in keeping updates coming! Tons of maps and balance changes too. If anyone is intrested i can explain how to play it!
CnC3 was my second game on PC (my first was AoE3) The character of Kane immediatly fascinated me the first time i saw him. Respect to Joseph D. Kucan for his fantastic performance on the most charismatic bald man
I also remembzr the first i played the game I was 10 years old, my dad just picked me at school and i see a little box in the car. I though it was a movie but my father told me it was a game of a franchise he played before. I watched my father doing the tutorial and was absolutely amazed by the futuristic design and the zone trooper's railgun. I spent dozens of hours playing alone without ever playing on multiplayer. This game is a huge part of my chilhood
Also, I think EA has started to redeem themselves. C&C remake was fantastic, and I'm hoping TibSun and RA2 get the same treatment. But, they didn't fuck it up. Same with Starwars Squadrons. Wasn't the best game, but it was what it said on the box, and won't microtransaction you to death.

I grew up with Command and Conquer since my dad played Red Alert 2 quite often. My first video game I bought saving up my money was Tiberian Sun. Kane really set the bar for playing the bad guy in video games. Absolutely loved him in TS and C&C3! Keep up the amazing videos Bricky!
Ah I had the same childhood, grew up playing red alert 1 & 2 at my cousin's house. Then bought Tiberium sun with my own allowance. So for me Yuri was the best villain in the series.
Yeah same here, Tiberian Sun was the first game I ever bought with my own savings as a kid. Mum was not impressed 😂 But there are so many good memories of playing that game, both me and my dad loved playing the game. I don't play RTS games anymore, but I still watch competitive play of C&C3 on Sybert's channel, and love watching Bikerushownz smash the competition. You weren't joking about Tiberium twilight. I was PISSED. I pre-ordered that thing like 6 months in advance and fully paid for it because I loved Kane's wrath so much.
Funfact, The nod Venom, their main aircraft's design came about because of a visual glitch back in the previous title where the nod helicopter unit didn't have its rotor animation working properly so designers said fuck it and gave nod a propeller-less heli for Tib wars
I'm a huge fan of the original C&Cs. The Red Alert series is just incredible. Fun fact: Red Alert 1 is more or less a prequel to the whole Tiberium series. Because Kane, an advisor to Stalin, shoots him at the end of the successful Soviet campaign.
@@RaptorJesus I think once Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2 released the timelines were pretty definitively separated. Which I think is fine, it gave both titles a chance to grow without stepping on the toes of the other
@@mrbigglezworth42 Absolutely. I just find it wonderful that Red Alert 1 serves as at least a potential prequel. "Why is the world so weird? Because WW2 was the West vs Russia" with RA2 just being an alternative to the Tiberium timeline. Both of them, however, could be argued to start in Red Alert 1.
"Vertigo Bomber standing by." has lived in my head for the past 15 or so years. Bricky's right about the voice acting and sound design all being on point. Also, no love for the NOD Commando? Psht.
I never noticed before.. the Suicide Bombers from Nod don't actually die in the german version, they explode and then run away before vanishing. Edit: Also Steel Talons are using units that have been around since Tiberium Sun. The Titans and Wolverines are designs that have been phased out by the GDI for years. Edit2: If I am not mistaken the mammoth tank in Tiberium Wars is actually the Mammoth Mk3. The Mk2 from Tiberium Sun is a gigantic 4 legged walker with railguns.
The Mammoth Mk 1 is a tank from C&C 1 Tiberium Dawn. It looked pretty much the same as the Mk3 and also have AA rockets that could be fired if you deployed the unit. In C&C 3 there is a legit Mammoth rush with railgun upgrades which can shred an enemy base in minutes. Basically all you need is 2 war factories, the advanced lab, the railgun upg and building 4 Mammoths. You can have that in less than 5 min. If the enemy was slow to develop large tanks or base defenses, it is GG. The railgun upgrade does extra damage to buildings... :D When playing campaign missions i always rushed to Mammoth tech and then wiped the whole map with 6-10 Mammoth with a bit of infantry support or AA APCs if the enemy had air units. Steel Talons are an army group from the Tiberium Sun era that still uses mechs from that age, but with slight upgrades. Let me tell you guys, Wolverine walkers with the AP ammo upg will shred even the toughest NOD tanks, not to mention light vehicles and soldiers. Who cares if they dont have air units, when you see a large armored division of walker mechs slowly heading toward your base you are gonna shit your pants if you dont have a strong anti-armor response.
@@Nr15121The Steel Talons part of the campaign takes place years before C&C 3. They're sort of a transition between Tib Sun and Tib Wars GDI, and canonically aren't really around by C&C 3. But they're still playable in skirmish so we're all good. This is why you face Steel Talons in the prologue arc of Kane's Wrath (before LEGION gets shut down), and then mostly ZOCOM in the present arc.
@@Nr15121 yes, they're a post Tib Sun advanced technology division. They lack compact power armor, sonic weaponry, and other toys vanilla GDI and ZOCOM play with since those factions exist in the future.
Gosh. i first played cnc 3 in 2010, and i fell in love with it. I used to play and adore games like Supreme Commander, AoE and Red Alert 2 though, so was looking for new additions to my RTS collection. and today, even if almost 12 years have passed and i am 18, i love playing it.
Generals: Zero Hour and C&C 3 Kane's Wrath were my two favorite PC games growing up. I was playing Kane's Wrath this week, just because I hadn't played it for a while. On C&C 4, it really felt like EA wanted to make that game an eSports game from the ground up. They added in MOBA elements and changed how so much of it worked. It was a really big let down.
That was certainly part of it, the other part was that the original game concept for Tiberium Twilight was for it to not be an RTS at all. It was originally developed as a sort of MMO-MOBA game meant to specifically be marketed to Asia (predominantly China) but C&C3 and Kane's Wrath did so well in sales that EA execs wanted to capitalize on the popular wave of new fans those games brought in, as well as attempt to get in on the (still relatively young) e-sport market. Consequently they looked at their portfolio of developing games, saw that they had a C&C spinoff already in development, and (on official record) against the advisement of the game's OWN DEVELOPERS, ordered them to develop it into a full C&C title. The rest as they say, is history.
C&C 3 was the first C&C I played, my dad bought it for me when I watched him play generals and RA2, and after all these years I still come back to it and replay it. Its a game that has imo aged very well and holds a soft spot for getting me into RTS games and gaming in general.
I'm so happy you made this video as I've never known anyone to encapsulate all the reasons I loved Kane's Wrath before until watching this. I've also said to my friends before numerous times how i don't enjoy Starcraft because it's all about micro! I wish so many more people still played Kane's Wrath online. P.S I am SO hyped for Tempest Rising. It basically looks like the new C&C.
One truly good RTS campaign is in a game called “R.U.S.E”, I think it’s because they had the advantage of basing each mission on a real WW2 battle, but essentially you are a commander in WW2 which begins commanding a small regiment in Africa, to leading a D-day landing and to invading Germany as one of top generals. (Lots more in between) if you can go play R.U.S.E I highly recommend (hard to find a way to play tho came out in 2009 and am pretty sure isn’t sold anymore)
It isn't. Your best bet is through torrents, even then, the game is so forgotten that its hard to find a torrent for it. You can maybe find a hard-copy for consoles, if its possible?
The memories of RUSE on the 360 the British assault gun saying in the most jolly way “he won’t be back in time for tea” after I destroyed a town to kill 1 unit of infantry
This game is genuinely one of my fav's the polish and character of all the units, cutscenes and overall aesthetic is absolutely amazing. Also if you observe the units while they're idle they will do different things like the grenade squads doing star jumps, the rifleman will reload or the saboteur looking at his weird hook hand. The most funny is the Juggernaut Chicken peck which is quite rare ahh the good old memories...
Two best actors in the C&C Series is Tim Curry and his iconic "SPAAAHYCE!" and Joseph Kucan and his passionate reaction when he learns about the betrayal at Temple Prime
Hey Bricky, would just like to let you know, there is a very active modding community for this game as well as third party support. C&C Online, Command Post Launcher, The HD Mod, the map packs, its all still better than ever
I was so happy when Origin released the entire C&C franchise on their platform. I have played every single Command & Conquer game since the first Red Alert. I still play them on Origin from time to time. Was also huge into the Age of Empires series and LOTR Battle for Middle Earth 1&2. All of which I own. For Age of Empires fans I highly recommend the new game. Still brings back the nostalgia feeling with a highly polished game(AOE4).
Thank you steam for selling all of the C&C franchise for 8 bucks. I now feel like a child in a candy shop.😂 The thing that really hit me with some weird nostalgia (apart from "rifle squad ready for combat") was when the game launched in 480×640... I I saw that stretched resolution and immediately felt like I was 8 again, playing on my Mom's work computer 😂
Thanks for covering one of my favorite childhood games. I started with the first decade collection which had all the classics and stopped like everyone else when CNC4 came out. I've been keeping up with the game through Sybert. Some of the games are fucking insane and make me hope for a remaster of this amazing game.
Kane's Wrath is an amazing expansion pack I feel like it could have been improved more. for example, give these factions even more distinctive units or features. Steel Talons shouldn't even be called experimental tbh. this faction is using old tech from the older days in the Second Tiberium War that was in Tiberian Sun Firestorm. Titans and Wolverines. great but I feel like instead of the MARV epic unit, Steel Talons should have been given the old Mammoth Mk 2. it would have made sense, given the fact that this faction is into old-school tech. and Kane's Wrath has sort of a prequel/sequel type of story campaign. but yeah, I also LOVE the the Black Hand faction. because of the fire element. the the Confessor Cabal basic infantry unit is so amazing. they are religious priests with laser guns. amazing. the Marked Of Kane should have had even more cyborgs and stuff. maybe spyder/scorpion looking units like the Spyder Reaper. and also bring back the Cyborg Commando. the funny thing is, if you have the MCV from both Marked Of Kane and Black Hand factions together and you upgrade the Particle Laser from the Black Hand, your basic MOK cyborgs Awakened will get Particle Lasers. strange or let's say a funny hidden easter egg/perk. so yeah, I feel like even .ore could have been done to make each faction even more unique. ad just a few more things to fully make things great. but mods are here for a reason.
I love C&C 3. So many good memories especially with 2v2 with my buddy. I could go on and on but I'll share one of my favorite moments. We were playing on one of those tiny, square shaped 2v2 maps and I was playing Nod against Nod. He rushed me with an early avatar and I wasn't prepared. Lost my tech centers so I was down with tier 1 units against his tier 3. He was trying to mass produce avatars so I started spamming attack bikes and hitting his power plants and harvesters to slow him down. He panicked and build obelisk of light to counter my bikes. Problem is they use tons of power and while obelisk and avatars can one shot bikes, they fire slowly. I quickly realized I was building bikes faster than he could destroy them and I ground him into the dirt with sheer numbers. Why he didn't start building rocket squads, I'll never know but it was a huge hit of dopamine when I turned things around and we won the game.
i would LOVE to see a video on CnC generals zero hour, the suecide bikes, the mini nuke artellery and planes going so fast that missiles run out of fuel before they catch them.
Nostalgia overload! Good video as always Bicky! I highly recommend covering Project Wingman: it's a Ace Combat style game but it really forms it's own identity and is a staggering experience. God tier Soundtrack too. Love your content Bricky, keep it up!
God bringing back the memories playing with my buddies on the 360 but I would love to see you cover the OG Supreme Commander and Supreme Commander Forged alliances
C&C:Zero Hour was by far my favorite of the franchise. I miss the GLA so much for the same reason I like Nod; those immaculate voicelines. It also shares the same subfactions idea as Kane's Wrath.
Or the General's voice lines. Dr Thrax: Time to take your medicine eheheheh Nothing can live beneath my toxic cloud general! General, it looks like your troops, are intoxicated hahaha! Shi Tao: Everything will glow like the sun! The Glow! The wonderful Glow! Granger: Hey general, you ever see a raptor up close? hahha Well would you look at that, US military spending at its best
Fantastic video, as always. It's very fun watching Bricky channeling all this excitement for something I enjoyed myself in the past and presenting it into the world. Such a torch bearer.
I remember thinking that the nod tank building was the coolest thing around(and the confessor voices but that's something else) and it was the first game i played where your units actually came out of buildings and didn't just materialise outside of it.
Something i saw you forget to mention is one distinguishing feature of C&C games: There is no unit cap. At all. You can theoretically build as many units as you like, for ever. Power isn't as much a supply mechanic like in Starcraft, as it is more a limit on how fast you can churn your troops and keep your base defenses intact. It makes map control and consistent unit production a far more important factor than in other RTS.
I started with RA1 when I was 10 and I was so ecstatic after winning my custom skirmish over one easy AI. I have a original physical copy of every game up the one that we don't talk about. I use to use the old icon sprites on my desktop and had my windows error sound set to the unused "This is classified" sound byte. RA1 was so fun to mod values with a text editor to change how each faction kinda played. Or the old insane maps you could download off weird early internet sites that made everything kinda explode like a nuke. All the other games are good I have a soft spot for the Emperor Overlord tank from GZH and think KW is one of the best games to play online with friends.
@@crazybunny1134 Depends kinda on what you like in this IP as they all kinda play a same way. I have never enjoyed the first C&C Tiberian Dawn is gritty scifi but love Red Alert is funny scifi. C&C2 Tiberian Sun has AI that can be brutal but love the story. RA3 is silly but you get Tim Curry and George Takei. Even Generals is got some good stuff with its gritty real world feel.
I've been watching Cybert for 5 years now as my guilty pleasure even when he only had 100 views on each video. Great content, would definitely recommend
What I think is hilarious about Kane is he’s one of the original programmers for Westwood! He voiced the character Brandon in the Kyrandia series and when C&C needed a villain he stepped in to save money. Paid off!
It's so cool to hear Bricky talk about C&C3 and channels like Sybert. I've been watching his videos for a couple of years now, and absolutely love it. The games are so entertaining to watch, and you never know how it's gonna play out. I've tried watching Star Craft matches, but they're just so repetitive and drawn out, that I start falling asleep. I've watched plenty of long, drawn out matches in C&C3, however I've also seen competitive matches last less than 5 minutes, because one of them decided to risk it all on a "balls to the wall" risky play, and came out victorious. There is so much flexibility in C&C3, and I believe the game is sorely underappreciated for what it is.
I loved CC3 but tiberium sun is my favourite campaign to play. Highly recommend playing. Kane's Wrath is awesome. Still one of my favorite rts. Made a bunch of custom maps for it for years. C&c Generals series and Supreme commander are runners up
I deeply appreciated this review coming out. I too.. fell to the brotherhood of nod in a similar fashion but with he cybernetics instead of flame throwers... and I play admech. That aside command and conquer 3 is a damn near masterpiece. Thou I did notice the ... lack of mention of command of conquer 4 ( which is for the best... was the WORST game in the series)
I just wanna say how much I love your content and that you've become one of my favorite content creators over the past year. Your videos have the perfect blend of length, frequency, information, and plenty of entertainment to keep me engaged the whole time. Keep up the good work
Man I can not emphasize just how much I love you for making this video. C&C TW was my first RTS ever, and nowadays I'm actually just a little sad about this fact because I never really could appreciate just how good this game was. Squad based infantry, veteran system, 3 different subfactions each for 3 factions that each feel unique? Sidebar Abilites that don't feel out of place (god there are so many of them)? Unique Upgrades for each faction, complete with visual updates? And all of that released in 2007 (2008 for Kanes Wrath, technically)? There's a good reason why Tiberium Wars and Kane's Wrath have a combined amount of time of 400 hours in my steam library. On that note, I'm all for the games making a comeback, even if that means giving EA money. Maybe, just maybe we will even get an actual sequel (or generals 2) if EA notices that there's money in there.
Hey Bricky, I have some amazing news, right now, we are witnessing the beginning of a Command & Conquer Renaissance! Steam just got The C&C Ultimate Collection! Yes, all Command & Conquer games are now available to buy on Steam for $10 max. Best part: every game is now updated to run on modern hardware. No patching required! - Tiberian Dawn - Red Alert - Tiberian Sun - Red Alert 2 - Renegade - Generals & the Zero Hour expansion ... I have not tested any of the games that already existed on the Steam store, but I noticed that Red Alert 3 got an update out of nowhere the day TUC was ported, so I assume we no longer get any crashes when adjusting in-game resolution at first launch anymore! You think you can maybe videos about the rest of the games? That would be nice :) ... Also Tiberian Trainwreck is listed again.
Interesting video so far u should review deep rock galactic it’s like my favorite game and I love your video essays and would love for you to talk about it
I remember using the ion cannon at the end of the GDI campaign and thinking it was going to be the end... only for it to continue, but you're fighting a huge alien invasion and everything is just going crazy. I remember thinking "what the hell is happening?!". Its one of those gaming moments that'll stick with me till I die. Up there with beating bloodborne.
Right!! I dragged out the Temple Prime mission thinking I was nearly done, savouring the last of it. Nope! Whole new chapter for GDI, NOD and it unlocked a Scrin Campaign. Blew my little mind.
@bricky thanks for shouting out Cyberts channel, Ive now watched dozens of pro games of Kanes Wrath and its super cool to see the different tactics at such a high level and it fills the nostalgia meter
Sybert's stuff is great, and there's some incredible players out in the community still. I think it was Masterleaf who released a 4k texture pack recently, and I've found some incredible mods on moddb. One Vision for KW is awesome if you want a bit more flavor added into all 9 factions, Tiberium Essence for C&C3 bridges the gap a bit better between Tib Sun and C&C 3, and there's plenty of mission packs for both games on the site too. Obviously the balance isn't perfect, and those missions are fairly rudimentary, but there's indeed some impressive stuff in there. Like I remember one mission that has an intro where you commandeer a wolverine and from the first person view go through the Nod base to rescue your guys.
Yeah competitive C&C3 is fucking hype to watch, like it’s actually more fun to watch than Korean eSports StarCraft tournaments due to the points bricky above stated. A match isn’t decided by what you build in the first 12 seconds or if one team rushes your base, everything rubber bands and everything has a chance to be turned around. It all feels like an actual war/battle and not some small skirmish of a couple of units against each other.
@@sebastianpost7237 I tried to get into competitive aoe2 but the tutorial videos made it seem like if you didn't get your economy going in this exact way, you're doomed. On the other hand I saw an old bikerush video where he won despite having a complete economic disadvantage the entire game.
iirc correctly one of my favourtie ever lines is the NOD harvester. If it is harvesting and you manually tell it to go somewhere without it they will say "bu- but- the tiberium!"
Im pretty sure I remember someone that C&C4 was originally not a command and conquer game or not a PC game and EA just decided to shove the name on it and release it as a full game. Also that Cybert shout-out at the end was great, they appeared in my feed one day and the casting is just such good background noise, his commentary is perfect.
Been playing Command & Conquer games since the late 90's. Red Alert 1 was my first game, and to this day the whole franchise is still my favorite. C&C3 and Kane's Wrath are up there at the very top with how great they are, and it is amazing seeing them get some love in the modern year.

Also fun fact: The actor who plays Kane was one of the original developers of the first Command & Conquer. When they were making the first C&C their budget was really limited so they were really having a problem on who to get to play Kane and they basically voted that programmer because of his look and voice.
Thus Kane was born…
Dam that's awesome, had no idea. Have more respect for him now than just an actor.
he also did some acting at school iirc, thats why they chose him as well. Also Kane himself was a sound/audio guy in development i think
Iirc he wasn't a dev, he was the casting director, he did some placeholder dialogue as kane and they loved it so much he ended up playing him
Joe Kucan was casting director, but there were certain other devs who played minor roles of GDI and NOD soldiers.
Ere I was thinking it was an early acting career Johnny Sins with that shiny dome...
Units also have directional armor. Tanks take 110% damage from the sides and 125% damage from the back. So you can be really rewarded for flanking.
Oh, and calling Kane a villain is heresy. He's clearly humanity's savior.

Fun fact about the vehicles, you mention you can reverse them. Well, that is also because vehicles have armor, and if your tanks say, turn and flee, they will take more damage than if you have them reverse move so they can keep their stronger frontal armor facing the incoming enemy fire.
And it also lets them keep shooting as they retreat too.
Company of Heroes did that alot.

@@killahertz7124 And KW ends post-C&C3 years later in-universe

Don't forget about the Scrin ship, which itself was most likely the base for the new faction for CNC3
I'm glad that there're still those who give this game love. Been subscribing Sybert for years now and still never get enough of C&C content.
Something neat I always found when playing it as a kid was that the voices for some squads would change as they lose guys. If you lose all the militants in a squad and leave the Confessor leader he has unique dialogues, same with the GDI sniper teams if the marksman dies the spotter sounds terrified to be left alone.
I honestly never realised it, but you are exactly right! How did I miss that! It's such amazing attention to detail 😱

The variety of voice actors for the NOD faction made them so iconic in my opinion. The exaggerated Britishness of the saboteur, to the south preacher style fanaticism of the flame tank and the grim impatience of the avatar. You cant beat it.
Nod are supposed to be full of fanatical cultists. it makes perfect sense to have them like this. they are terrorists.

their tech is many ways more advanced than GDI, the supposed NATO like organisation with limitless resources.
but since Nod have the Tacitus, they get lots of tech from that alien tech, I suppose. plus, Kane's presence makes them extra radical.
"He's going Dirt Tasting" had me in stitches.
I was obsessed with Traveler-59 as a kid. I won a few lan-parties because I was the only one there to figure out that the devastator's weapon range is longer than their visual range.

Psht.
Vertigo, flight check complete.
Ive been watching Sybert casts for ages, i hope this game becomes popular again. Fun to play online every once in a while, do consider joining
Actually steel talons is described in game exactly as he says
When playing campaign missions i always rushed to Mammoth tech and then wiped the whole map with 6-10 Mammoth with a bit of infantry support or AA APCs if the enemy had air units.
@@sethb3090 the intel database says steel talons is an advanced technology division
@@cah11111 that explains so much. C&C 4 looks and feels exactly like a MOBA that tried to be classic C&C.
I dont know of this game you are talking about.
I love ruse, but I can't get the Xbox store to work for it
It isn't. Your best bet is through torrents, even then, the game is so forgotten that its hard to find a torrent for it. You can maybe find a hard-copy for consoles, if its possible?
RUSE was so much fun on 360.
But I could not have anticipated an ambush... *BY MY OWN FORCES!!*
Hey Bricky, would just like to let you know, there is a very active modding community for this game as well as third party support. C&C Online, Command Post Launcher, The HD Mod, the map packs, its all still better than ever
Agreed! 4k mod is epic, so are the 1.02+ patches :)
C&c community is still very active.
Yeah I like the new one. But I don't like the price it doesn't make sense
same tastes thats crazy
Thank you steam for selling all of the C&C franchise for 8 bucks. I now feel like a child in a candy shop.😂
The thing that really hit me with some weird nostalgia (apart from "rifle squad ready for combat") was when the game launched in 480×640...
Some of the games are fucking insane and make me hope for a remaster of this amazing game.
me 2 LOL.
C&C is one of my favorite franchises hands down. I think it's underrated I'm so glad to see it talked about in 2022 no less
i would LOVE to see a video on CnC generals zero hour, the suecide bikes, the mini nuke artellery and planes going so fast that missiles run out of fuel before they catch them.
Man, I thought that Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars (and Kane's Wrath) were dead, thanks for keeping my favorite childhood game alive
Nostalgia overload! Good video as always Bicky!
I highly recommend covering Project Wingman: it's a Ace Combat style game but it really forms it's own identity and is a staggering experience. God tier Soundtrack too.
Love your content Bricky, keep it up!
That time when Diplomat went hog wild against Crimson One over the comms was so iconic.
God bringing back the memories playing with my buddies on the 360 but I would love to see you cover the OG Supreme Commander and Supreme Commander Forged alliances
FUCK yes forged alliance was so good...the 2 had good idea but....end up being meh
SupCom2 is good but had the unfortunate fate of being a SupCom sequel, especially coming after Forged Alliance
God Forged Alliance is so good
I would love a Tiberium wars remaster, but the graphics honestly hold up really well for a game from 2007. Besides the frame rate it looks so so good
C&C:Zero Hour was by far my favorite of the franchise. I miss the GLA so much for the same reason I like Nod; those immaculate voicelines. It also shares the same subfactions idea as Kane's Wrath.
Them: Can I have some Shoes?
Me: No.
Again me: AK47 for everyone!
@@randomrfkov I was also going to bring up the AK-47 voice clip! So good!
Shockwave and rise of the reds mods are amazing
Or the General's voice lines.
Dr Thrax: Time to take your medicine eheheheh Nothing can live beneath my toxic cloud general! General, it looks like your troops, are intoxicated hahaha!
Shi Tao: Everything will glow like the sun! The Glow! The wonderful Glow!
Granger: Hey general, you ever see a raptor up close? hahha Well would you look at that, US military spending at its best
@@CompanionPrism LOOK at my BEAUTIFUL weapon >:3
Thank you so much for giving Sybert a shoutout! The man deserves it for his great casting!
Fantastic video, as always. It's very fun watching Bricky channeling all this excitement for something I enjoyed myself in the past and presenting it into the world. Such a torch bearer.
Sybert! Yes! It was really sad when he left around 5 years ago and his return just over two years ago was a great blessing!
Hi, i have been wanting to play cc, wich one i should begin with?
@@crazybunny1134 Depends kinda on what you like in this IP as they all kinda play a same way. I have never enjoyed the first C&C Tiberian Dawn is gritty scifi but love Red Alert is funny scifi. Personalty I think everyone should play the RA1 remake but C&C3 is good. RA2 is hard to run but is also fun especially its expansion Yuri's Revenge.
I remembered playing this with my father when I was young, this gives back nostalgia to me
12:55 Yes Hilarious. Also your line delivery of "They do A LOT of Damage" was beautiful.
I loved CC3 but tiberium sun is my favourite campaign to play. Highly recommend playing.
Also the enlightened aren’t tech fanatics, they’re the sleeping hidden away army of cabal, the nod AI that actually turned out to be the blueprint of kanes mind.
The enlightened are recycled humans who’ve had their mind striped away
Kane's Wrath is awesome. Still one of my favorite rts. Made a bunch of custom maps for it for years. C&c Generals series and Supreme commander are runners up
I feel old... when I was in school our Command & Conquer 3, we were eagerly waiting for, was Tiberium Sun.
Command and Conquer 4? What is that? XD
YES THIS IS MY FAVORITE RTS AND ONE OF MY FAVORITE GAMES EVER! I hope it continues to get the recognition it deserves.
So you have to join us online
Best RTS ever. Phenomenal game and inspired a lot of my creative writing.
- Tiberian Dawn
- Red Alert
- Tiberian Sun
- Red Alert 2
- Renegade
- Generals & the Zero Hour expansion
That would be nice :)
... Also Tiberian Trainwreck is listed again.
Interesting video so far u should review deep rock galactic it’s like my favorite game and I love your video essays and would love for you to talk about it
Tis a pretty fun game. I also think Bricky should check it out
Oh yeah, any 40k fan would love DRG. It's so great, it's replayability is fantastic, and the community is top notch wholesome
Rock and Stone Brotha!
@@Xeakquh if ya don't rock and stone, you ain't goin' home, brother!
Rock and stone bruther.
Finally, the old and reliable RTS game
Yes! Bricky and Sybert, two of my favorites. Hoping C&C comes back!
Maybe it shouldn’t come back because we all know what EA would do to it.
Yeah iirc c&c 4 was originally going to be a spinoff game marketed towards asian players
Been playing Command & Conquer games since the late 90's. Red Alert 1 was my first game, and to this day the whole franchise is still my favorite. C&C3 and Kane's Wrath are up there at the very top with how great they are, and it is amazing seeing them get some love in the modern year.
WHEN YOU THINK
You can't love Bricky more, but then he uploads such videos
