Instead of cyclone, you could use twister. And you already call it the step side. Combine the two and call it the “Step Twister” 😁. I enjoy the builds very much, thank you!
Just wanted to say I enjoyed the video with no music/whatever music you had on in the background while you worked. Made it seem as if I was there working with you. Those are my thoughts!
Great episode. Is was very soothing having the music in the background and tool noise up front. It had the same ambiance that my garage work does. Of course I'm doing my own tune ups and maintenance, nothing close to installing a blower. Although...
Man, night and day difference in this upload! No overly loud obnoxious music, just mildly playing in the background on your personal radio. The sound of tools and you working, talking, and explaining. PERFECT, for me anyway. Thank you for taking this approach! I enjoyed very much!
It would be cool to see a rack and pinion conversion on one of these trucks. Using a later model rack from a Tahoe or suburban. Get rid of all the slop from the idler and pitman arm joints. Btw, I'd name it Bawd. Bad-a...awd
Went to a car dealer one time looking for a new daily and they had a real 1969 COPO Camaro with the 427 on the showroom floor. Asked about it and they wanted half a million. Needless to say it was just a little outside my price range.
I’m sitting on an 04 single cab step side z71. 5.3 and 4l60e. Once it starts getting built it’s going to be “psiko71” looking at a turbo setup, not super built just looking for 500 all wheel hp. So obviously the same awd conversion. Lowered a little bit, but not too much because I’m in New England and still need to be able to deal with snow. Not looking to race it or anything since it’s my daily. Just want a little more than the stock 295 crank hp. Considering looking into a 6l80e swap since I love how my 3500 dump truck at work shifts and takes off. Still going to have a fairly quiet exhaust, full interior etc. I’m using your vids as research, so I can’t tell you how much I appreciate them. I’ve been to school for motorcycles, Kawasaki specifically. So I’m no stranger to tearing things down to the skeleton. This will be the first v8 I’ve ever built, since my old 95 z28 had a 400hp build when I bought it. Excited for the new experience, but understandably nervous.
You know. If you let the air out of the front tires, it makes it easier to work on the truck. Then just air them back up when your done. Saves some wear and tear on your back. I learned that by accident. Both my front tires were flat one morning when I came out to work on her. For me tho it was a little bit harder then just putting some air in the tires lol.
Well. You’re one of the lucky ones. I saw your video and decided I’d do this and I’m being told the ZL1 lids are out of stock everywhere now with no eta on the availability. Not your fault. Just interesting how fast that happened.
Wow, extra plates lol. If it where me...I'd put the alternator on the block tied to the ac with a longer 4rib belt, used a Volvo or Toyota EHPS remote power steering with electric water pump to limit crank shaft leaching and gone with a small 6rib pully/tensioner setup. 20-60 horsepower spread across the power arch just sitting there.
I can’t wait to do this to my 08. Spin a bearing in my 5.3 in November and been planning out a 383 stroker using the 5.3 block and for the longest time thought I was going with a torqstorm. After these videos I’m certain I’ll be getting in contact with Roshan and getting a lsa kit
I’ve got a 1993 Jeep Cherokee “liberty” that’s super clean, it’s all original, even down to the paint job, 103k miles, 4.0L in-line 6, if you’re interested in a crawler or something of the like
I like the name COPO truck. Central Office Production Order, didn't know that, thanks. A COPO SS, or COPO SS AWD badge could look pretty cool. I may use that on my Suburban, imitation IS the highest form of flattery LOL
battery in the 2nd spot for smooth intake tract, plus just moving the 40+ lbs battery from in front of the front wheels to behind the front wheels seems win win to me
bracket you're so proud of showing us and turning it around it looks exactly like the one that held the power steering pump on my 427 in my 69 Chevelle
I dig the name! Wish I would have thought of it because my truck has been pieced together with parts from you name it 😂 Denali interior engine from a Denali, transmission from a van, rear end from an SS front end from a 06 stepside bed from a 03
I named my current project the “copo Colorado “ (named it about a year and a half ago when I started amassing parts) it will have the same blower setup you have, on top of a ‘08 ls3 6L80 with a an as yet undetermined transfer case and yes it will have a sas done running tons on 35-37” tires
As I sit here and enjoy your videos. I hear you’re looking for a project. I would love to see you build a high end Donk or Box Chevy. Not necessarily high end in cost, but in quality. The movement is so strong right now, you can gain many new subscribers.
Nice work on getting that all setup and configured!!! I have seen that "pinning the crankshaft" kit before and it is a good idea as for what you are doing. My 2010 Silverado has both battery trays too and my battery is in the back as to where you are thinking about moving yours. GM does this because some of their trucks gave the diesel engine option. Can't wait to hear this run!!!
All this work you do has motivated me. I have a TR6060 on the bench. A console, pedals, ready to swap… into my WM Chevrolet [Holden] Caprice PPV. You should pick one of these up. They are a lot of fun 😎
You could call it a Hurricane since GM already used Typhoon and Cyclone. also you should not have any belt slip issue until you go bigger on the pulleys, I've seen it before, that's why it has a wider belt width to start with, GM knew it was border line slip already
How about calling it the "Tyclone" ? I am excited to see what kind of power this makes! No doubt gonna be a blast to drive. Hopefully you can hurt some feelings of fellow motorists. Lol!
good info on the belt, itll stretch about 1" after you get into boost a few times. The truck balancer is SMALLER than the CTSV, the stock LSA lower is an upgrade over the truck balancer if needed.
@@LawrenceTolman glad to hear it. We havent had any issues in the past with the ARP bolts or the steam tube, but ill be making a few adjustments on the next batch of adapters
Truck harmonic is smaller then a stock lsa harmonic And another interesting fact you can fit a 10% overdrive lower on truck spacing and clears the water pump
Imagine if that COPO stuff was still a thing you could do. Particularly with the MOPAR cars. TMW you order an AWD widebody Charger Demon. Or maybe you get the Viper engine with the supercharger on it AND AWD in a Durango. With third row seating, too.
It's looking good, can't wait to hear it start. I'm not a fan of the ARP balancer bolts. I've had 2 back out on me. Yes - I torqued them to their specs and even used red loctite. FYI - I have never had a factory bolt do that to me. As for reusing them, technically you shouldn't - but you can. Do I recommend it? No. The stock bolts are under $10, hardly worth the risk.
My L.B.Z. Duramax Yukon is called NORTH. Not sure why? I was wondering if there is a shorter power steering pressure line from a factory blowen 4.8 ? I just hate hoses or electric wires/cables that are too long. It's just messy looking, so l get why you want to tidy things up. ✌🏻🔑,👌👍❄❄🥶🇨🇦👨🦽😎.
please drill two holes one on both sides cross from each other on the crank because if you only drill one you're changing the balance if you put one on either side it's closer to zero
The truck lower is smaller by 10% so you will be loosing a little boost there. Tge largest lower you can put on it with the truck accessories is the stock ctsv one. Just a heads up.
Hey LT, I live in Sandy, UT and I've got a 02 Avalanche. Great shape, Blue, 188k never been cut into or modded. I've been looking to sell. I've owned it since 2011. Runs great. 5.3 vortec if you're interested. I really don't want to sell, but I drive it very much, and my 2nd doesn't show any interest.
if you get an LS engine out of a donor vehicle and you don't take the radiator you're not going to be able to pressurize your eating system to get coolant to into the vehicle for the heater cord to warm the inside of the vehicle in the winter time in the holes that comes from the radiator to the overflow bottle you will have to use a piece of aluminum or brass or whatever to block it and only have a 5/64 hole for the coolant to come through to go into the overflow bottle and then now you have pressurized the system so you can have a warmth in the vehicle found that out the hard way
I'm curious as to how the water pump bearings will fare with the side load produced by the supercharger. It's unfortunate you could not have a belt dedicated to the supercharger...unless I have missed something.
i make this front drive kit, I have 6 years and 160k miles on one of our LSA setups that we drive almost daily, with zero issues on water pump bearings, along with thousands of others we have sold this kit to
It's your truck, you can call it whatever you want. I have a Grand Marquis named GrandMa.
Lol I call my lowered 01 ext cab Silverado grandpa, the pewter color just makes it look like a “grandpa” truck😁
Instead of cyclone, you could use twister. And you already call it the step side. Combine the two and call it the “Step Twister” 😁. I enjoy the builds very much, thank you!
Yes I vote Step Twister! Great name!
Yes, I vote for "Step Twister" lol.
“What are you doing, Step Twister?”
Step sister🤨🤣
"I'm gonna go the step twister for hard ride"
Too bad I am going to say I remember the last years of these cars being on the road and it just isn't the same. God bless and enjoy your evening.

This channel goes volumes beyond your last publication (and removes all the paid propaganda!) in technical detail…
Keep ‘em coming LT!!

I do have to say, I really did enjoy not having any music laid over the video. Hearing just you work was soothing. Weird, i know, but true
I love the name COPO. I think it fits perfectly.

If it's a COPO you need some generic steel wheels with some chrome center caps. Like the old COPO Camaros.
I'm in the middle of doing a lsa in my 5.3 regal. This helps.

Copo isn’t bad, I would call it “parts bin”. I think Camaro when I hear Copo.

Shockingly simple bracket that boost district provides. I went with the overbuilt Lsx innovations heavy duty kit as I’ll be around 6500rpm with cam
I do miss the tunes between the teachable moments. Most channels I watch find 1 and stick with it. Which is fine for short bursts.
I'm definitely in favor of relocating the battery. It's just gonna look goofy if you do some kind of weird bend on the intake tube
bracket you're so proud of showing us and turning it around it looks exactly like the one that held the power steering pump on my 427 in my 69 Chevelle

watching this project intently.
I like the name, it fits with how you use so many original GM parts.
Really enjoying seeing this project progress.
Excited to see this thing rip! Also, here’s a vote to bring back the background music, too many ASMR vibes lol.
How about the “SuperSide”. Short for supercharged stepside. Also could work with SS badging. Just an idea🤷🏻♂️

I love the COPO name! Right on!
I'm a Utah guy as well I did this setup on a lq4 in my 93 roadmaster wagon. You may want to consider the hd tensioner kit
Perfect name! Keep up the great content!
Boost district- it’s all bolt on…Lawrence- modifies every step of the install
city's. Wait to hear it run and hear that blower whine!
I agree and like the name Parts Bin or Parts Bin Express
Crank pinning is referred to as a Dutch Key in the machining realm. Love the content LT!
Thats my new fact for the day, thanks for the info!
Nice work on getting that all setup and configured!!! I have seen that "pinning the crankshaft" kit before and it is a good idea as for what you are doing. "Truck Hawk " would be a good name for that beast
You should name it the PhycoBilly Silverado. An homage to the Cadillac Johnny Cash describes in 'One Peice at a Time'
Very cool setup! Looking forward to seeing what you do next!
If only you were closer. 2014 Silverado 6.2l. Looking to install a Whipple super charger. Dang it
Very cool Lt can’t wait to see what it’ll do on

Maybe call it the "Monsoon" because it's bigger than a cyclone?
Hahaha...or the frog strangler
Man I'd love to run a lsa supercharger on my LS Swapped Astro but after watching this, my brake master will be in the way
Definitely needs some music! And I dig the name. I remember the COPO Camaro, sort of. It was definitely before me but...
That looks like a clean install. Good work.
You should call it the "El-Camaro" Camaro in to front, party in the rear!
How about calling it the "Tyclone" ? I am excited to see what kind of power this makes! No doubt gonna be a blast to drive. Hopefully you can hurt some feelings of fellow motorists. Lol!
NICE JOB !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
good info on the belt, itll stretch about 1" after you get into boost a few times. The truck balancer is SMALLER than the CTSV, the stock LSA lower is an upgrade over the truck balancer if needed.

You should try a power steering pressure hose for a square body with a small block.
good tip!

Copo is perfect
If you get any belt slippage you may wanna look into a Gates HD “green” belt. I know a lot of guys with superchargers swear by them.
I use Gates Rubber products across the board.
Could it be called the LSA and Pray, since it's quite a bit of power added to that truck and is pretty light. Also thought it sounded catchy and funny
Sweet setup man
Appreciate it
LT while editing: "Make fun of my music will ya? Fine! No music!
Us: "This is good ASMR here.
I can’t wait to see what this thing does on the dyno!
Get a green belt, and I would also put 2 pins in the crank.
How about “SSS” will be awd like a SS truck and Stepside. Plus heavy like a ship.
Very cool 😎 I’m thinking of doing the same but will see great videos by the way.

I'm bummed that you didn't choose to name it Tyclone, but your build, your rules.
Be careful of the crank pully, the belt is only about 1/2 around the pully. I was always taught to have it 3/4 around to insure no slip.
