I love your energy level Richard and appreciate the amount of work you do swiping parts in a logical methodical way. That is phenomenal torque for a 4.8 with pump gas! Awesome testing Richard! I love it.
Waaahoooo, Richard thanks as usual for your time and educational experience. Really appreciate the timing info 👌. I was surprised that with 10 to 1 compression on 91 octane you were 15 to 16 degrees timing with 10 to 11 lbs boost. Not intercooled? Always learn so much more when you throw all the specs in. Great episode thanks for running pump gas I love to see you one of those will do on my LS one with maybe a cam as well in my z71
My lunch just got a better due to the boost in this video.
I just pictured a sandwich with a blower on it 🤣
With some E85 to wash it down.

Thats the perfect setup I need for my 07 tahoe. That I am building a lq4 + th400/3000 stall . I can tell there’s a bigger cam in the 4.8 or stock low Lobe seperation as the torque is surpassing BBC territory and Gm did a higher 118-120 lsa with their LSA blower engines to kill torque from the bigger cubic inch ls engines.. i would be proud to cut a hole in my hood for that blower on stilts.. she’s a tall girl. Lol. Love your stuff Richard. You are doing gods work for the HotRodding community. Thanks
I got a 09 Tahoe I’m building. Right now it’s got tsp prc CNC heads and cam. Along with long tubes and cold air and 411 rear ended with Eaton and custom tuning with hp tunersI’m gathering parts for a th400 with full manual reverse valve body and a trans break and a 3500 stall.

waiting to decide on buying this blower over a turbo kit! thanks for the video!
Man this video got me excited, got a really nice surprise in my bank account. I saw this video and I actually got that excited lump in your throat feeling. FINALLY I can supercharge my Silverado, I remember seeing tons of these superchargers for $300.00. I couldn't contain my excitement and had to pause the video because I was about to buy one. $700.00....... $879.000....... shit! Then check adapters $1400.00 double shit! Missed the boat again like when folks could get cheap LSA's.
If i were you, I’d grab the supercharger while it’s cheap and sit on it til either the price for the adapters come down in price or an alternative part comes out. I’m half ass debating it myself right now for my tahoe.
The engine looks cool with the Caddy supercharger on it. But now I'm tense with anticipation to see the rest of the testing. E85, bigger throttle body, better intercooler.
Boostus interruptus.
I've been following the guy that makes the adapters and have been waiting to see more testing on these.
I love that when I watch the video with close caption on, the motors spinning up on the dyno caption as ( music) ❤️🦍
Awesome testing! We've got a little 4.8 going in our Conquest swap with a cam and a little nitrous. May have to go with this little supercharger if the engine survives Cleetus' burnout competitions
Oh man a big bang caddy would be great. You could keep it in car too. Actually, if you could fit this blower on an olds aurora that'd rock. You've got more head gasket sealing area with the small bore! Plus 4t80e stock
Now Richard you have my attention!!I'm all about CHEAP hp and the stuff the low dollar man like myself can use in real world applications tks Richard
It's not cheap, the adapters are $1,400 then another $100 for the tensioner
Excellent job Richard 👏
id really love to see a test with the LSA supercharger. thats the unit most ls guys are using.
still neat to see this obscure supercharger being a new possibility for swaps.
The price is going to double because of this video haha

I'm glad that someone found a use for these blowers, when I first seen them on eBay I thought fore sure this is a scam lol
The LS3 adapters are $1500 and truck kits are $3500 though, hardly concidered "cheap"
@@johncrankshaft2886 Compared to a whipple where the kits start at almost 7k. You're coming in around half of that after the STS blower install..
Thanks Rich, that's great. I'd love to see that supercharger on the 4.3 baby LT1 🙃🙃🙃
Yes! This blower on an LV3 would be awesome!
excellent! :) very well done . this is exactly what I want to see...thank you
This is amazing. I have a 97 Sierra single cab long bed and a 4.3L vortec. I've done some mods to it but have been tossing and turning on whether pulling it, resealing it, ported heads, edelbrok intake and a cam or go with a V8. I have a NV3500 5speed manual but also have a T56 in my garage that can go in also if I go the V8 route. This supercharger is amazing and on a tiny 4.8L vortec. Imagine swapping the heads and cam with other vortec/LS engines and this supercharger... oh man!
Don't waste your time the aftermarket support on the 4.3 is abysmal at best . 4.8 and 5.3's are so cheap you'd be a fool to go with anything else .
@@Dr.Westside I'm leaning heavily towards a 5.7 vortec swap. Honestly whichever will be the easiest. My nv3500 is still running strong so might as well get as much life out of it as possible.
Thank you for doing this video and testing the Mackdaddy kit. I have been wanting to buy this kit but need some real data to know if it was any good. I think I'm going to place my order this weekend.
Richard, you are the man! Could you please do a series on how to utilize the holly hp management system? Including timing rules of thumb and air fuel ratios at different rpms... basically how to create an optimized tune :) maybe even how to tune for boost!?!?!?
there are much better tuners than me for that
@@richardholdener1727 doubtful! You crammed 24 psi of boost through a junkyard 5.3 that was ready for more! You are the man, please consider to reconsider, god bless.
Man Richard you make putting everything together so easy 😳
I love that setup looks super cool.
Appreciate what they did and it seems well done, but no way I'd spend that much money and go through that much effort for an M122.
Agreed, $1400 for adapter plates is insane! For the cost of plates + the blower and the other headache to adapt the tb you could find a decent lsa that has more aftermarket support and much more swap friendly (will actually fit under the hood of something other then a truck).
I didn’t realize they were that expensive, lsa blower or turbo kit would be more cost effective
@@frenchonion4595 that’s way to harsh of price on the adapters. I have a 2001 Silverado I’d like to add boost to one day. It already has most every common Ls modification: camshaft, springs, long tubes, tuned, and I have hp tuners now, and torque converter is next.
@@frenchonion4595 Yeah their truck kit is just that and it's $3500. No injectors and you have to deal with a throttle body at the back of the blower at the end of the day
Or just get an LS + mild cam that will outflow this blower's maximum airflow. I just don't see the point.
Could you next run this on an ly6? Very cool video man.
With out his kindness we would all be broke blowing up motors thank you so much richatd
Richie gotta give it to you man work all day and do this in your off time giving us great knowledge lowbuck but big pay offs
Please share IAT post intercooler it would be helpful to know how well it’s keeping up. Also if you could shoot supercharger pulley and snout with IR gun, I’m seeing 170* on the pulley and it seems high.
Wonder if Richard is always raving around with this song in his mind allday lol. Hes the man tho either way lol
I’d say that is very plausible. The man’s mind flies faster than dale on Martinsville speedway back in 91.
I'm in my jackass party boy banana hammock right now actually.
I can't wait to see the rest. Could you also test some wild cams in there
How can you not watch this video? Richard is so happy can you tell? !!
Wanting to see this on a 6.0 or 408. Wonder where it’s airflow becomes the choke point.
Thanks for finally testing one of these, disappointing that it costs almost as much as an LSA or a torqstorm and makes so much less power :(
yeah $1300 is ridiculous for some adaptor plates
At least you can retain your stock front accessories and not buy the required brackets needed for the LSA.
Surely he will over drive it
Kick Ass work man! Everyone loves cheap(ish) boost.
very educational on the timing on pump gas
That supercharger needs a Big turbo
Hmm, this looks like a good engine for my T-bucket autocross racer. Lots of low RPM goodness that doesn't quit at high RPM.
Haha, sounds awesome. Not many T buckets autocrossing.
This is super cool man! Love some cheap boosT!
Super cool man! Nice work.
Richard is awesome as usual with tons of excitement and knowledge. The fact that the adapter plates alone are $1500 dollars negates the "cheap" theme of this one. Keep up the good work.
Those adapters must be bad ass for sure. Gone up $200 in the last few comments alone. Hmmm?
Yea they have, they are a ridiculous price more than some billet wheels hehe
Came here to say this. Those plates are in my opinion unreasonably high priced. Makes this setup anything but cheap. There are so many of us looking for an application that is budget friendly but at this point it just doesn’t exist. Although $2500 for everything including gaskets is cheaper than most setups but not cheap enough to “jump” at. He made a nice video though
@@ByronCall torque storm is 2800 with lifetime warranty will make 700hp
@@ByronCall someone could sell those plates with regular gaskets for tree and fiddy.
bro, you gotta start putting links to these parts in the description

Thanks for the pump gas tune!
A number of people are complaining about $1300 for a set of adapters. I think once they see the hoops that need to be jumped to make this work they would understand. Also these blowers at one point were $400 shipped on EBAY. That was the Blower, Intercooler and DBW Throttle Body. An LSA Blower is now $1500 used. A Lid is $600 used and you need a throttle body and drive set up. For a guy with a 4.8 or 5.3 and a truck accessory drive the $1300 for spacers is not a bad deal. There is certainly more that goes with both of these set-ups but overall it's not a bad deal and its new. I know it's not going to be capable of making as much horsepower but that's not what everyone is trying to do. Just my 2 cents.
As someone who is owned the car that that blower came on the only thing that I can offer is the intercooler that's built into those things are absolute garbage. My sts-v would see 140° iats cruising down the road. Other than that great blower.
How would you upgrade it? Or whT would you do to make it better?
@@claytonhaske the design of the Intercooler does not allow upgrades. It's a tube design, and it's well known that it sucks. I had every upgrade you could do, larger pump, lines, and the TC Fab heat exchanger. Nothing I could do.
@@claytonhaske its running the engine antifreeze through it from the factory, if you make it a stand alone system you can make it run cooler especially if you add an ice tank and an extra radiator.
I've been encouraging Richard to rig up a better intercooler for it, but he doesn't seem interested.
@@Phil-rs5wl in factory trim it's on its own separate loop. I had an ice tank also where the battery lived. No matter what, under load it couldn't keep up. I also had a 2.4" upper pully and was seeing 17# of boost.
I have a 1 Ton Chevy G30 Dually Van this will be hilarious on. 😂
I have a AWD 1500 with tge 5.3 this would be perfect for
Richard, you have in my opinion, a dream job.
Awesome results, that's a lot of power out of a small V8.
love the videos and appreciate the time you give to make these... but please, do not lose touch with the concept of whats "cheap" when titling the videos. thanks and great video!
the blower was cheap
Id like to see what this blower totally maxed out, on E-85 , and on a 6.0 will do.
Pump gas! Fantastic stuff here.
I'm just stoked at the N.A. numbers alone- I'll be getting a 4.8 for my Malibu very soon, and getting over 300 hp to the ground is chill for me- but 400, with very minor mods and Holley FM, I'm good with THAT!
That's flywheel power. Not to the rear tires, I built a na 4.8, stage 3 cam truck cam, hardened push rods, double valve springs, long tubes, prc 2.5 heads, corvette throttle body, k and n intake, and 373 gears, in a crew cab 2008 silverado on 22s and 33s, and it put 302hp to the rear wheels.
Always excited to see boost numbers on Cali 91 octane and an engine that is twice my little 4-banger's displacement. Gives some form of reference since there's basically no direct examples of what I'm trying to do with my 22RE.
those toys are good
@@richardholdener1727 they're nice and reliable, but the swirl port chokes the flow around 4800+ and they've got soft valve springs. Great for a stock truck but expensive to build for a peppy street legal Celica here in Cali.
I've also been using your Ford 302 info to scale expectations for what my engine can do, especially the flowbench numbers on the Boss heads!
I'm guessing this blower would be a little small for larger displacement such as a run of the mill LQ4, but it would be interesting to see how the same setup would compare.
Just use the LSA supercharger . They're probably just as cheap if not cheaper on eBay .
This is a great video.. good info and good build 👍
I think I may have to pick one of these up for my 08 single cab.....🤟🏻👀
Will we be seeing this combo on a hopped up 5.3/6.0 sooner or later ?
I just bought one of these blowers on eBay. lol Gonna see if I can recreate this in my Chevelle. Love the content Richard! This is the first time I'm trying one of your experiments for myself. Should be cool
Go for it!
How did u search for it? I can not find them on ebay. What is the proper name or part #?
I need help !
Could you leave a link for the part?
Another way to boost an ls and make a load of torque I like it
Hey Rich for part two would it be possible to stick a larger crank pulley on there for science?
You're doing the lord's work.
Can you do a video with twin turbos but have one small and one large? I think that would be interesting to see.
Need to test on 5.3! How much taller than stock truck manifold is the set up?
Wow! That 4.8 really made alot of power on pump gas! I would really like to see what this combo would do on a stock LY6- Very interested in getting more torque to pull heavy 5th wheels in my 07 NBS without doing a Duramax swap
I'm going to start hunting junkyards for a Cadillac! That would be cool in my truck, by the way, is the same as your truck. My 02" 1500 with a 5.3. thanks for the vid.
$1300 just for the adapters is a little high....It doesn't keep in line with "going cheap " idea for these superchargers ...but it is BAD ASS!!!!
Shit for 1300 dollars ill have machined Billet adapters made myself lol
you can't even find those superchargers cheap now anyway. Ebay is showing a single listing for $800+
Yea just used procharger or new torque storm...adapter plates just kill the budget factor but appreciate the test
You have to put it on a 6.0 Rich!!!!
Love the music!
And engine action at the same time! You've got a hit!
Love this ! would be awesome to see this combo (because any one can do it) with cam / head upgrades 243 / 799 ect
👀 add a turbo compound boost 👀
On a side note it works good on that little 4.8 but does it have enough for a 6.0?
two things, one Id love to see a twincharged ls with this. Second is I'm a little dissapointed that the adapter kit is 3500$ considering that doesn't even include the supercharger, air to water etc. I'd love to supercharge something someday but they're too expensive compared to turbo, and effectively make less power.
Am I missing something? The $3500 kit includes the machined M122 supercharger.
@@bluenecross I'm fairly certain that only includes the adapters not the supercharger
The manifold adapter is ~$1400 - which is a stupid price to expect people to pay for a $300 supercharger.
@@grumpysteelman I whole heartily agree!! He says in the title CHEAP, but the only cheap thing is the supercharger and even then it's gone up in price so It doesn't seem worth it at all.
Lmfao $1,400 for adapters.
This is why people don't bother with automotive hobbies......
I love recycling factory blowers iv got a gt500 m122 on my Dakota RT it makes about 11 psi and iv got a supercoupe m90 on my grand Cherokee 4.0 that makes around 7psi
Very cool Richard.
I still wanna see you test an LSA supercharger on the smaller truck engines.
That will definitely wake them up but gen 4 rods are needed
Richard, question, how does the set up work on a 6.0L LS?
What that’s telling me is it’s a fun truck project time. Something like Silverado would be a nice “beater work truck” with this)
I told my dad the other night (we totally aren't into American cars at all)
That we should build a turbo LS all sloppy and have like 700hp.
Just for the shits and giggles it'll give us, we've never had anything that fast ,and it's cheap as fuck I've got more in a short block for a VW than a LS turbo would cost
@@MrTheHillfolk oh yeah, tell me about those VWs, I myself a victim of some fancy VW product aka Audi) Imo American cars got a bad rep because of all those fwd luminas-impalamalibus and other budget crap, but for rwd performance cars or just any trucks there’s not much that can give as much bang for the buck.
Great video!
Is there a way to not use the air to water under the s/c? Like instead use a regular intercooler in the interest of hood clearance.
No, these blowers need to be air cooled
6.0L yeah?
Mack Daddy has shut down production because of the high cost of the blower units. At least that is what he replied in his return e-mail.

I wonder if this blower would be too small for a 6.0 lq9. In any case 500hp out of a dinky 4.8 is mighty impressive.
Honestly it shouldn’t be too small, it’s a m122, that puts it at 2.0 liters, it should feed it I would think
