Climatic Hawk come on its a cinematic build of the game half the time they aren't even playing it just runs on a PC and they stand there with a controller.
Problem with old 2010s Ubi demos was that it was really obvious they were pre rendered because of how the “player” would, well, PLAY. Only a very few people deliberately play video games super slowly to make everything look cinematic. Their co-op game demos are another story though, i don’t think its a stretch to understand and replicate how friends actually talk to each other when they’re playing co-op. The random ai interactions that make the world seem immersive is another example, just don’t do it unless you’re sure you want to keep it in retail as its difficult to code completely dynamic moments like that. It’s cool for a demo yeah but its still misleading on purpose unless you inform the general public that chose to buy the product specifically cause of those immersive moments shown in the demo.
They weren’t pre-rendered. They were just heavily scripted in-engine demos ran on super beefy pcs with the graphics turned way higher than the consoles could ever be. Usually when it comes to the end of development, devs will heavily optimize the game to run well on consoles and remove a lot of the core visual makeup of the game. This would be fine if Ubisoft still allowed those high quality graphics on the PC version but they are almost always removed to keep parity with the consoles
Honestly Far Cry 3 looks good the way it released. Sure, there is waaay lass detail, but that's to be expected since it was made for 2012 hardware and the things that stayed the same (like Vass or the AK) look better in the release version. Here I go being art snobby again... Personally I prefer the presentation version. Graphically it tied FC3 back to the previous 2 games and would've taken some of the edge off. For Vaas it offered a more striking silhouette, he wasn't just a pirate with a face scar, he had bugged out restless eyes, and thick black hair that contrasted well with both his own head and the background. The old told you exactly who Vaas is before he ever spoke a word, and made him visually as special as his personality was. Retail better fits the "in" style at the time, realism, which looks "better" in terms of looking more like real life, but it looses some of the visual character in the process and makes it blend with games that came afterward. Sure the cut and more realistic appearance makes Vaas more imtimidating, but also made him visually forgettable in an ongoing era of grizzled soldiers with face scars in every, damn, shooter. At least it's better than either of the two styles currently "in", Cartoon Neon and Realistic Minimalism.

whats interesting about sieges comparision is I honestly think on release sieges aesthetic and visuals were VERY similar to the trailer just over time the colors were dulled down and lighting made more flat for pro league. like old clips of night time cafe , favela, themepark had the visual fidelity of the trailers. I do really miss that artstyle so much, the art direction of release siege was industry leading
Because it isn’t, the trailers are so unrealistically good looking. All of the games in this video are good, but they were showed in an unrealistic way, every company does this, I don’t know why people only point out Ubisoft “downgrades”.
Watch dogs 1 was actually a playable build demo, but it’s just a demo. Not saying they didn’t put love it’s a well done game but missed the expectation mark the trailer gave

Blows my mind that this isnt illegal. Especially in cases like Watch Dogs and The Division. And even though this video is 7 years old this stuff still happens today on a giant scale with AAA games. Hopefully at some point they will start being held accountable in a legal sense.
As annoying as it is getting bait-and-switched by devs (*cough* Cyberpunk), people neglect to mention the times where there are actually valid reasons for it, or the direction/vision for the game changes. Many of these changes are for the sake of practicality, playability, and performance, not just because they couldn't be arsed following through. I agree, though, that it's wrong to set everyone's expectations in the sky, only to deliver something phenomenally waist-height lol One example of changes for valid(ish) reasons, is R6 Siege. It started off as a multiplayer tactical FPS, but its development and future went in the direction of COMPETITIVE multiplayer tactical FPS. When a game becomes competitive, it can't be an absolute graphics blunderbuss and obliterate anyone's PC that isn't worth at least £3k/$3k, the graphical bar has to be dropped, which means less dynamic lighting/shadows and replacing all that with baked in shit, simpler animations and animation blending, calmer particle effects, and also less/simpler player animations for the sake of smooth and functional gameplay, most of the shit that makes an E3 demo look so good... nobody is wishing CS:GO had cover mechanics and inverse kinematics or locked in animations for running up and down stairs because it'd make it a bit of a Jankfest and greatly hinder the competitive gameplay aspect. There's almost no excuse for single player games however, that shit just fucking boils my piss. Devs need to stop fucking around and mugging idiots off and idiots need to stop supporting their scummy antics and repeatedly buying the same piles of trash from the same scammers... EA Sports, EA Games, Bethesda. Primarily, the devs need to realise that without them, their publishers are basically nothing. If all the dev teams told publishers to stuff it when they're asked to make a 2 year project in 6 months, rather than bending over backwards to push unfinished shit, publishers would calm down and back off a bit, but I guess that's the problem. A dev team says they can't do it in that too-short-a-time, so the publishers just go "aight" and go find a different dev team that are happy to rob the first team's opportunity, even if that means churning out unfinished dogshit. Fuck me, that's balled me off a bit lol, why does every company have to be scummy as fuck. Sorry for the rant :)
One thing I’ve consistently noticed Ubisoft games struggling with is Lighting and Shading. Textures are good, sure, but proper lighting carries graphics better well beyond a game’s prime.
@@beaners1234life Because ID are some of the best developers in the industry. But also many games in the 7th Gen didn't have superrealistic shadows or real-time dynamic lighting, and they cheated the system a bit which improved performance. 8th Gen consoles had awful, horrible CPUs which meant that dynamic lighting could still be achieved (not well, as the GPUs also sucked) but physics were absolutely screwed.

Before the is released it looks so good, I hope they’ll remaster the game
100%. It's so obvious to the trained eye.
The trailer looks like a trailer and the game looks like a game.

@@scytarius5397 that's true

I agree, though, that it's wrong to set everyone's expectations in the sky, only to deliver something phenomenally waist-height lol
One example of changes for valid(ish) reasons, is R6 Siege.
Textures are good, sure, but proper lighting carries graphics better well beyond a game’s prime.
just look at Halo 3.
Lighting and physics are the two most demanding parts of game development. Notice how every game has had those interactions cut or heavily downgraded.
@@GAContempt you’re right. And that drastically diminishes the fidelity of every game Ubisoft promotes.
@@GAContempt but how is it that doom 3 can make better lighting and shadows from 2004 compared to a game(s) released in 2015?
@@beaners1234life Because ID are some of the best developers in the industry. But also many games in the 7th Gen didn't have superrealistic shadows or real-time dynamic lighting, and they cheated the system a bit which improved performance. 8th Gen consoles had awful, horrible CPUs which meant that dynamic lighting could still be achieved (not well, as the GPUs also sucked) but physics were absolutely screwed.

I downloaded the game to save a vulnurable life like hostage not an ugly ass old man who's gonna die in a few years
The change for Rainbow Six is dissapointing.
2024 Edit: As indicated by the scummy E3 footage deception, Ubisoft doesn't give a damn about Rainbow Six and ruined the game by turning it into a casual shooter + gacha game. Unpopular opinion, but the game has been complete dog ass since the Lion/Finka update.
even the sound is shittier
not ok pc, with the hd texture pack, in 4k, one of the best looking games out
+Bob Ross and the division
Do you really think Ubisoft wouldn't?
its very stupid on how they would do this
It's not even that the final product is bad, it's just that we were lied to so enormously that regardless of how good the end product was it was never going to live up to expectations
Ubisoft is the Tesla of video games.
So that basically contradicts ur point.
The games ARE bad.
@@117MasterSpartan No, they’re bad in comparison to what E3 showed us

Siege is trash, TD1 is trash, watch dogs is trash and every far cry after 3 is also trash
@@TheJohn_Highway every far cry after 3 is trash? bit of a stretch 4-5 are not that terrible, new dawn is garbage and 6 is mid at best.
Watch Dogs 1 is trash?
The Watch Dogs one is honestly the one that hurt me the most, and the one I still remember to this day
Rainbow six siege
Hostage in trailer: women
Hostage in game: Bald Man
Fuze: Confused Screaming
Confuzed screaming ;)
@@thegreatfilou good one buddy
They downgraded even the hostage 😂😂
You forgot to include "Hot"
There’s a woman hostage too.
"wowowo its another group of players brace for pvp"
no actual player of a multiplayer game with pvp would talk like this
Yeah lol
Yeah I laughed when I heard that as well
But it sounds cool ^^
the rainbow 6 once still got me because when that girl is sniping outside of the house you know for a fact the entire time the team would be saying "what the fuck you doing, group up with team"
Man, I remember before the Division came out that I pointed out this exact same thing on that E3 trailer and got crapped on by everyone in comments. :/ Great to know that there are other sane people on the web.
Tbh this kind of false advertising should be considered as a fucking crime.
Siege actually saddened me. Looked so great, now its not. Also pushing this female in special forces agenda shit.
EliteBuzzy sf has females its just like .00000001% of special forces
This is before the game has even half way developed so everything is "Subject To Change"
They don't want the feminists to come after their game, and luckily they haven't xD
u right
Watch Dogs is without a doubt one of my favorite video games of all time, I wished it look like this in the final release.
Just finished the game for like the fifth time in my life and yeah, story’s amazing. Hands down the most fun game I’ve played in a while
it’s so damn good i know i’m not blinded by nostalgia.
it’s just had a unique feel too it even though the NPC’s were a downgrade.
Same
Since they're likely not gonna release a new Watch Dogs, I'd love if they remastered Watch Dogs 1 & 2. They could add a 60fps mode...maybe a 30 fps ray tracing mode.
@@dr.loomis4221 the first Watchdogs has 60 fps on Xbox series X
Can we appreciate this man's dedication to being able to edit a cohesive video and maintain a storyline/theme with only the magic of editing. Zero words.
Well unlike the bots in Counter Strike Source and Global Offensive
@@Waddle_Dee_With_Internet what?
@@EricToTheScionti I think he’s referring to the E3 trailers in this video about AI talking which it weren’t implemented into the retail one. Compare that to Counter Strike Source and Global Offensive, bots communicate in certain quotes.
The funniest thing for me is how they always show the „perfect“ Multiplayer Teammates and how they all work together. We all know that they‘re all just screaming into the mic and rampaging through the levels
Reality is often disappointing

I remember The Division being the last game I was genuinely excited for. One of the main things I couldn’t get over was how good the map looked in the “gameplay trailer”. Once it came out I made an official vow to never get excited for a video game again
Ubisoft: We have this cool idea!
People: Cool, make it a thing!
Ubisoft: Sorry, what?
Underrated😂
We cant really do that.
Business its business
We don't do that here
I dont understand what are you saying
Watch Dogs downgrade was almost criminal...sheesh
Captain Cartman you know u can get the e3 graphics in the PC version, they are hidden in the game files.
It doesn't excuse them for using a carrot on a stick every E3.
It's not even close to the E3 version.. You can mod the heck out of watchdogs and you still wont get anywhere near the weather effects and shaders in the E3 version. Not to mention the game AI.
Watch Dogs 1 was the worst game release i've ever experienced!
rogueSomber
Isn't there a serious case for false advertising here?
no because they always say the trailer may not reflect the full product
+Demerit Nation That's suppose to mean that the final product will look better, not the other way around, so it is false advertisment.
+Demerit Nation These are gameplay showcases, not trailers, and the differences should be in gameplay and potentially the layout of the maps, visual quality is assumed to remain the same or even get better. When you promoted your product having a certain level of visual quality and then sell a product that is obviously much worse, there is a serious problem. At the very least, it's unethical. Luckily the market has a way of catching up with companies that do this.
Johnathon Beaumont no because they don't say "product will look better" they say
"May not reflect final product"
Thus meaning it's still really scummy but it is legal
Smullet90 I agree a bit
