So was this all for comedy, or was a lot of this based on these two guys' first playthrough of the game? Too many details seem oddly specific to be a generalized comedic take.
Sir Quaffler It was one guy voicing 2 characters very well. Probably just spent a LOT of time playing the game and wanted to express specific issues or experiences of the game in a satirical and light-hearted manner.
"You phrase that really weird, but I know exactly what you're talking about" Literally 80% of the conversations I have with my best buddy while gaming. XD
And not only that, after you find her, the bonfire to warp back to her is infested with a dozen spiders on the walls. You can either kill ALL the spiders or kill the ones that drop as you pass and take a gamble on one of the remaining spiders randomly dropping off the wall while you're minding your business in the other room... and biting you in the ass as you're stuck on the shop menu.
Watching this again after years and it stands out just how well made this is from top to bottom - especially the audio quality. The music and voice recordings, the fx - it's excellent.
God this animation is almost 6 years old and despite all that every souls fan ever watches this at one point, careful folks- we set foot on holy grounds.
I swear, Turtle Pope was a direct reference to Lore man here. He even sounds like him and goes "HELLO TRAVELER, WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW THE LORE OF THIS LAND?"
@@kevinlow69420 This is the first time I've watched this video in years. Like, way back in the ancient times when I first played Dark Souls 3, I found this video, thought it was entertaining, and watched it again with a friend. This is the third time ever that I've watched it, but even though I've never played DeS, DS or DS2, I understand so much more just from watching ymfah challenge runs and the like, and seeing MaatiMovie had me immediately checking the comments section for others who may have caught it for the first time. Good Lord I love this community
Man. This video is singlehandedly, one of the best things to have happened in the Soulsborne community. Its a cult classic, and even to this day, new comments arise and James replies to them. This is just one of the many things that makes From Soft's universe so special. Incredible. It really does capture the feeling of playing these games with friends. "Wonderful... Very good!"
This is in no way a cult classic. It’s just a classic. Cult classics are things that initially didn’t make a big impact, but got big over time. This video was always popular.
"alright, where's that dungeon you wanted to run together?" "Right down the road!" "Right down the road?" "Right down the road!" -My friend and I, every 15 minutes.
At least facestab didn't happen in DS2. ALSO I JUST REALIZED the click when Rotten Sausage shows up isn't the menu, it's literally Elite Knight's hand BREAKING between the notifications.
I've started playing DS2 this week and finally understood the "right down the road" joke. This asshole bird's house isn't right down the road it's two entire areas later and his house is in a place crawling with spider mages and an NPC invader with two crossbow with some kind of giant sand trap in the middle of all of this shit.
I do so like to imagine that one day, when I'm old and gray, I'll see a random video called Happy Souls 2 in my recommended. And then I'll die in peace. Jameserton is a huge inspiration to the comedy I use in my UA-cam channel and really love it!
@@vashdesperado1232I started watching it when I only played DS1. I have beaten DS2 since then and either way, the jokes are set up to where even my little kids laugh at it.
Even if it is not the first time I watch it and leave a comment this video is still really awesome. But also it hits different today. This cartoon came out the same year and period when I met my best friend way back in 2016. A lot of our relationship were built within Dark Souls 2 and by extension this video. As far as I remember we were referencing many jokes from it. Even using GIF we made ourselves. But he sadly passed away last January, this year of 2024. We were talking every single day since we met so his irremediable absence leaves now a big hole in my heart and in my life. RIP my dear friend. Clearly you were a lifetime bro. I am missing you and I will miss you for a long time. And a lot of thanks to you, Jameserton. You never knew it but you brought closer our two souls with your work at the time. Somehow you became a part of who I was for him and who he was for me. So thank you again.
I once died fighting the chariot in near identical circumstances as that guy did. One of the guys I was helping was in slot with one of those sorcerer dudes that revives the skeletons. We couldn't kill the guy in time so I died.
The game usually pretty serious but I feel like the devs have got a really wry sense of humor. I mean Elden Ring has got SOAP as a consumable item. Not to mention in the DS games you can throw poop at people
Yea the first time I watched this I had never played 2, already found it funny. then I watched it again after beating it and the video was 3 times funnier
I’ve watched this video a countless number of times of the years, and it never fails to put a smile on my face. I bust out laughing even though I know exactly what happens. Thank you all for making this beautiful piece of art.
This video is what made me play dark souls as well! It makes me so happy to see all of the people like you who revisit this video the same way that I do. It’s a community that we’ve all kind of fallen into without even knowing it :’)
The “Wanna play through it again” line always makes it smile. Dark Souls really is one of those games that you can have so many hours of fun with. Still one of my favorite animations.

Sir Quaffler It was one guy voicing 2 characters very well. Probably just spent a LOT of time playing the game and wanted to express specific issues or experiences of the game in a satirical and light-hearted manner.
Sad their was never a 1 or 3 or bloodborne. This was a masterpiece back then and only ages like fine wine
I need Happy Souls 2, give the people what they need James
Would it be based on DS1 or DS3 since this one's based on DS2?

Literally 80% of the conversations I have with my best buddy while gaming. XD
I completely forgot that was from this, I’ve been using that in regular conversation for along time since
Have you ever like, talked to your friend and you say it a certain way they doesn’t make much sense but they understand what you’re saying?
That conversation is just like me talking with my friends about subnautica.
That's exactly me too. Just boys bein boys
I love the joke about boss weapons being "right down the road" and they never run into that character again. Happened to me on my first playthrough.
yeah haha. the bird is actually in a really annoying place to get to.
@@ShayJuliette i usually kill all the spiders uhtil they cant reapawn anymore

My deepest condolences for your loss, brother.
