Incredible list of cool genre-diverse riffs. Love this!
Misirlou was first recorded in 1927 and is a song about a Greek Christian man and an Egyptian Muslim woman. The fast picking comes from the fact it was written to be played on a lyra or Bouzouki.
the melody iz from macedonia
@@marinpahljinait’s greek bro, stop it 🛑 ✋
Excellent suggestions. And timely as I am going back to the drawing board after 40 years of playing. Due to a health issue a few years back my rhythm ain't so hot (ahem) so I will definitely be doing Riffs 2 & 3 daily for a few months. And Riff 10 for the hell of it. Happy New Year.
Happy New Year to you, too, Adrian! Always love ALL your lessons and videos, and I really get so much from your "welcome to the new year" videos that always help me to reset, re-focus, and recharge as the year lies ahead of us. Thank you for all you do. So very much appreciated!
You're a wonderfully engaging and effective teacher and pick the best music to highlight. Every video reveals a new path for me to explore. You're my absolute favorite guitar UA-camr! Thanks!
You always do such a great job of making things accessible and achievable. Thanks so much, and happy new year!
Love this! I love taking the journey with you. Keep up the great work.
Hi Adrian, thanks for coming back to grace our screens again in 2024. I love your lessons and approach.
Thank you, Adrian and a very Happy 2024 to you !
Happy New Year to you too, Adrian!
And thank you for the great lessons, highly appreciated here
No shortage of how to play things on guitar on UA-cam. Lots of great ones. I have to say this one is exceptional. Great instructional video. I will be using this diligently. I’m glad I came across your channel and subscribed.
As always, great choice of riffs across a variety of styles!! The Suzy Q riff is probably the first guitar riff I am aware of having heard as a child (probably on TV or the radio and most likely the CCR version). Thanks Adrian and a have a fantastic new year!!
Absolutely impeccable taste as always. And showing just how versatile a tele can be!!!
Stellar selection of riffs. Covers a lot of ground AND in great taste 🤌
Happy New year, Adrian! Always lovely to see new videos from you! I hope 2024 is a great year for you, and I wish you all the best throughout the coming months!
Always both informative and brings a smile with your music choices. Thanks.🎸
Loved this lesson, thanks! More like this please 🙏
All the best for the New year Adrian. You have inspired over the years 🙏🏻 God Bless you 🙏🏻
Happy New Year Adrian!
Thanks for the help getting us out of ruts...lm sure we all go through em!
Another excellent lesson. Your knowledge of guitar music is awesome.
Thanks for this, what an excellent selection to kick off the year 🙂
Just Thanks. Great Riffs. Your ability to inspire us to pick and play and the way you break them down and make it easy to learn. Thanks
Doing a Django lesson is a brilliant idea Adrian! Please do!
Yes, please!
His version of "I'll See You In My Dreams" is one of the best guitar records of all time. A lesson including that would be incredible.
Keep it simple - blue drag.
Oof yes please!
Happy New Year to all of you! Thanks for another great lesson Adrian.
I tend to focus so much on just theory, I enjoy it but generally nobody wants to hear a talk on music theory, they want to hear you play music. This is great advice.
i think the golden rule for theory could be “show dont tell” haha
Man !!! Just a few weeks ago remember some Rappid Licks of yours. Keep on Grindin´ and happy 2024!!!!
Happy new year. Hope it’s been a good one so far.
Thanks for another great lesson. These videos are very helpful.
Holy crap, your videos are Excellent!!
Thanks for making them!
I'm gonna go check out zodiac toys now!
Really great selection. Respect.
Brilliant suggestions - thanks! The guitar break/solo on Bigmouth is a great one for picking accuracy and speed too. Ian Bairnson's solo on Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights is another good one to practice and improve upon bending and tremolo techniques.
Thanks for posting this. Some brilliant stuff on it for me to go over❤
All terrific and iconic riffs!
Inspirational stuff and a very useful ‘menu’ to have to choose from. Thank you!
I'm practicing my D minor scale and wah pedal sound by looping the riff to Cream's "White Room". Not only is it such an amazing guitar solo, but the wah tone is out of this world.
There is no better feeling while playing guitar than playing a song you love, and improvising the solo over the riff.
Great video, you earned a new subscriber and reoccurring viewer.
I quit my lessons because I legitimately didn’t have time to practice everyday because of a demanding job, but man I miss going every Sunday at 2pm with my teacher. He’s a insanely good and I’m terrible lol
Happy New Year !
You're still one of the best teachers on the web ! 😌🙏✊
Great vid ! Thank you so much! Happy new year
Your original Spellbound video really helped my picking accuracy more than any other exercise I did previously.
Happy new year Adrian and thanks for all your great videos!
Happy New Year, great to see you again
Happy New Year Adrian. Thank you for all you do.
I absolutely agree that the satisfaction of learning a significant part of a classic track spurs learners on, that’s pretty much how I learnt. I was always curious at the same time about why parts work and that combination is what kept me going.
Hi Adrian, This is super-useful! Thanks so much and VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU!
You are a gem. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year Adrian, best wishes to you. Thanks for all you do!
Great study, as always! Cheers!
Merci for the suggestions.
not only are you the most fantastic guitar teacher Ive ever encountered, but you also always choose the best songs! I have a new playlist hahah
Great Riffs👍
Just stating the obvious, you are awesome, I love your work, commenting to help your channel. Thank you for sharing your art,it’s a challenge, I love it!
After 2 weeks away at Christmas without guitars, this is just what I need to kick start the year! Thanks and Happy 2024!
I haven't heard Spellbound in years. Good lesson & happy new year.
Thanks as always for the great vids, Adrian and all the best of 2024 to thee and thine. For the acoustic demos it looks like you are playing a Martin 000-15. I recently accquired one myself. Lovely old guitar!
Fantastic lesson. Gilmour solo and Misirlou are perfect for couple of my weak spots. Would love that Django lesson.
Very good choices for this lesson, I will enjoy this. Thanks
Fantastic choice to start with.
Good stuff! Happy New Year, Adrian! 😎
thanks Adrian, have a great 2024, Django, yes
Happy New Year Adrian. A great demonstration of what a tele can do.
Happy new year Adrian. Health and happiness to you and yours.
Now I really want a Tele with a roasted maple neck. Also, I'm reminded of how much I love the Smiths. Fantastic practice selections. Thank you!
Great new year video, Adrian! A great approach - learn enough songs with modest proficiency and you can’t help but add a host of techniques to your playing. At least, that’s what I tell myself when avoiding practice drills.
❤
Jolly good...same to you.... cheers from Canada.
Welcome back. Happy new year.
Thank you so much. I agree with the logic of this practice advice.
Love your channel!
Not only I'd like a full lesson about James Burton, but it would be great having some videos focusing on country rock songs.
Some Gram Parsons would be epic
best guitar channel on the youtubes
Happy New Year Adrian. Great lesson and yes please for a Django lesson.
Excellent!!❤
great video with some nice direction. Thank you!
Great advice about practicing with musicality in mind.
Great choice of songs Adrian.
Fantastic! You have impeccable taste.
More proof it's mostly about songs. The 10 songs you chose have it all. Outstanding!
BB King's comment on reading music: "It's better to know and not need than to need and not know." He's the greatest musician I ever heard perform live. It can't be recorded; all the difference in the world live! He said, "Scales educate the fingers." One of the reasons he liked the 335 was because he could hear it better than others when practicing scales without an amp. 🤘
So glad I found your channel
Thanks very much for the video. Something to work on for improving technique. I need to get me some of that one day.
That was cool, glad I found your channel
That Roy Nichols bit was from a solo he played on working man blues live in austin texas. I learned the whole solo note for note because it was one of the coolest country solos I ever heard.
Fantastic video. Many thanks
Excellent instructional video
Thank you so much, Adrian for a wonderful selection of riffs to play in 2024. I've been watching your guitar lessons for a few years and particularly like your McGeoch work. He was the first pro guitarist that I saw live with the Banshees in 1981 on the Juju tour and am full of respect and appreciation for the quality lessons that you've done on his fantastic guitar parts. I love Johnny Marr, Nile Rodgers and the Only Ones too and have really enjoyed learning some of their parts from your lessons. Could you do some early Peter Buck (REM) guitar parts? Many thanks.
🙂
Great vid, thank you!!
Great pick for number one! Johnny Smith comes to mind too, when it comes to excellent jazz guitar players.
Yay me first!
Great idea for a video
Love your tutorials
Got so many great songs under my belt from you
Cheers Malcolm!
Happy New Year! You're spoiling us, as usual. If you're feeling up for it, another Dick Dale lesson would be awesome!
Great tips and advice. Thanks.
Awesome licks Mate.
Great video!
I love that you chose the first solo in "Comfortably numb". I like it more than the second, which is the one everybody seems to prefer
Knew I was in for a treat with this vid when song No.1 was Spellbound. Absolutely classic part and deceptively tricky!
Bonne année Adrian!
Bravo!
As ever, thanks for everything Adrian. Nice Daniel Johnston t shirt - Chrimbo pressie?
Great suggestions and as usual, some great taste in music. I was happy to see the Ramones finally get a nod on this channel. 20 years ago or so I was a teenager learning Blitzkrieg Bop as my first guitar song. Ramones are great practice for barre chords and rhythm work, though it’s important for anyone actually trying to that style to play standing up with the guitar strung low. It’s so much easier if your arm can be fully extended and you can make sure the downpicking is all coming from the wrist. Btw, what model telecaster is that? It sounds great.
This is great as usual. A Django lesson would be an excellent idea.
Adrian, happy new year! Love your vids, even though I can't play a note and don't own a guitar!!
Happy New Year everyone, many thanks for the videos Adrian.
As you are open to requests , I'll be very happy for an helping hand on "Bateau" by the great Marc Ribot.
As an adult student with limited time, you're opening comments really nailed exactly what I've been trying to tell my teacher
Wow woe.
Happy new year ❤.
Happy New year, Adrian! Thank you for another wholesome lesson! Could you please tell me what rig do you use? These tones are amazing! And for some reason can't find how can I subscribe to Patreon - just showing posts in there and that's it. Best regards
