This is GOLD! I'm an intermediate guitarist who started out playing punk rock in part because I thought it was all I could handle, but my tastes went far beyond The Buzzcocks and Sex Pistols, which don't get me, is great stuff. But because of channels like yours, I now have the courage to play classic country, rockabilly, and now jazz! Sometimes I roll my eyes at the word, empowerment, but your lessons are truly empowering. Thank you!

One minute in and you nailed a key point about teaching/learning jazz (teaching and learning in general as well). There is something about the jazz types that love to over complicated things. This on the other hand. is very accessible and easy to digest.

Brilliant lesson, Adrian, and it’s great that you’re including jazz in and amongst the many great teachings you offer. Even if one doesn’t pursue jazz in and of itself, these chords and voicing are present in so many other genres and styles. It’s like taking a little time to learn another instrument besides guitar in that there is nothing but upside for us guitarists.
    Well done, Good Sir!🌟🙏🏽

Great video, Adrian! Entry into Jazz would seem like an impossibility, judging by other videos on the subject. This is by far the best video for entry into Jazz and for the Jazz beginner. Further, being able to easily identify the intervals in each voicing makes that step into theory so much easier.

Hi Adrian. Another fantastic lesson here. I've been trying to learn some basic jazz guitar theory and most lessons I've watched on youtube have glossed over some very important key points you shared here (like focusing on the intervals). I really appreciate that you take on such varied types of music and also focus on both beginner/intermediate as well as more advanced material. I can't think of anyone else who can go from a punk rock tune one week, country the next, and then followed by jazz. This is why you are the only one I support on Patreon. Please keep up the great work and I look forward to seeing you include some more jazz again soon.

The fact that this is so useful Adrian is down to the thought you put into the lesson and its structure and how clearly you demonstrate it. I'm dipping into jazz and some standards from the real book (ireal pro is very good for this) and was just starting to see those II-V-I progressions everywhere. Once you get that, you're on your way I think. Thanks. Really appreciate it.

Yes, been meaning to look at some Roddy Frame for a while. One of the few players who can put sophisticated jazz chords into a pop song without it sounding naff. Ain't easy to work his stuff out but I'm probably going to have a go later in the year.

Thanks, great video. I would love to see lessons on different rhythms for comping in jazz and in all possible genres really. Like the blue bossa you showed, it was too quick to easily follow. And of course how to solo in different jazz styles. Your teaching style is incredibly logical and structured clearly building up the concepts. I think your perspective would be a great addition to the jazz resources on youtube especially for people who want to play in all genres rather than jazz exclusive. How to use some of the jazz concepts more generally ( (when you do not want to rearrange in jazz style, just use some concepts) is also largely missing in youtube-scape.

One thing I would like explained please Adrian is Patreon. I agree that jazz might sound "academic", very unlike rock 'n roll. But it doesn't have to be if you listen to a lot of jazz and then try to play it. I went to these chords shortly after learning barre chords, and with pure practice, I can play these chords smoothly.
