I’m 65 years old retired. Just started by a year and a half ago learning the guitar on my own. Hope you have more videos. Thanks.
You can do it friend, still working into your guitar :D
Set aside 3 hours per/day. Think about how good you will be in a year from now! 3 hours is a lot, but that’s over 1,000 hours of practice. That and the 1.5 years you already have will make you pretty capable. Good luck🎸
@@oldmanbluecat3535 trying thanks 😊
@@Machia52612 thanks ☺️
I’m a beginner. The biggest problem I see is ppl always want ‘fast’ and ‘easy’. The ‘diet pill’ mentality:). Once you abandon that bunk and understand it requires persistence and dedication, it becomes more gratifying.
You got it, Mark! Great to see you here!
Exactly right! Theres no fast or easy shortcut, its practice an dedication. Ive bn playing for 45 years and still learn something i didnt know on a regular basis.
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
Nice easy lesson Thanks
Fresh subscriber here, this is great stuff man! Thank you for your content, sir.

Out of all the guitar instructional videos I watch yours is the one which broke the wall I have been up against for so long. Just yours. You have a gift so... Thank you very much.
That's awesome to hear! You are welcome. More to come!
Fantastic information!! thank you, very much!! Keep up the good work!
You're welcome and thanks for the kind words! More lick videos coming on Wednesdays.
Just bought my first electric guitar at 62. Got an AP 2 Strat. Don't have a clue how to play lead. Want to be David Gilmore B4 I'm dead. What a great place to start. Thanks so much!
Welcome and thanks, Carl! That's a fantastic first electric guitar! 🎸😎
thats awesome you're gonna have so much fun. Lets gooooo 🤘🏽
I’m 61 in the same boat but I bought a $245 dollar Squire Telecaster. I told myself that if I work hard and start actually playing well I’ll go and get something nice:)
@@MarkandSandieInMotionI tried that then I got an epi les paul then a mim tele then a am pro 2 then….
Now I am settled in with an AVii strat and Gibson LP classic lol
My best advice as a self taught is learn Hendrix I wish I was a catfish and little wing and also learn the Stevie ray versions, Lenny is also a great beginner srv song that impresses me
This is awesome! Thank you!
You are welcome! 🙌
I'll keep it simple. I like your interest in helping beginners. Thank you. I'll just agree with everyone below. Well done, no extra chatter, just the fact's, Man !! Cheers, Dk.

Yeah nice, this makes me wanna pick up my Fender which i haven't played in ages... relearn /learn some stuff. Black aswell, black pick guard with hot Jeff Beck pickups.
Ive just been on a hard rock/metal fix lately with the other guitars but this is cool. Thanks bro👍
Good vid
Very nice
Thanks! Keep an eye out on Wednesdays for more lick videos.
I am not really a beginner when it comes to chords etc but I am a noodler. This was a great video to wake up the discipline side! Wish you had made it years ago lol!
That's great! Keep me updated as you work through the licks. Please check out my new lick video on Wednesday.
@@PlayGuitarAcademy Another one? great idea, I look forward to it. Subscribed!
Great video! Playing licks over a 12 bar blues backing track is exactly what I have been working on. I just wish someone would do a video on the proper way to release bends though...
Thanks! What problems are you having when you release bends?
@@PlayGuitarAcademy doing it cleanly. Are you palm muting when releasing the bend or letting the bent string hit your index finger and if so how?
Thanks for the video, beginner here looking for "tips and tricks" if you will to pick up moving around the neck faster.
One thing I've noticed while watching UA-cam videos of guitarists is whenever they are talking about the strings to play, the fret board is always talked about in the inverse of what is actually being watched. What I mean by that is at the beginning of this video in Lick #1, he is saying to play the "top two strings", but as I am looking directly at the screen, those are the bottom strings being played.
Now, if you go to Lick #3, when he is talking about pull-offs and hammer-ons, at about 7:45, he says he is picking the string like he is "flicking his fingernail towards the ground". So, if the top of the fret board is really on the bottom, then how are you flicking towards the ground, which would be the bottom?
You are welcome! I don't remember what I said in the video. But, when describing what string to use and direction, I go by how it sounds (higher towards the high sounding strings and frets and lower towards the low sounding strings and frets). I've had many left handed students and some flip a right handed guitar and some play left handed ones. So, going by how it sounds makes it standard for everyone.
Weldon sir, I'm interested in your lesson then what gear are you using?
Thanks! Check out the end of this week's podcast for the gear I use in the videos: ua-cam.com/video/mina0Ka5knI/v-deo.htmlsi=m2lQwjr5YllrzrH_&t=1104
I want backing tracks
Finally someone I can follow.
Started playing in 1992. I just suck. Ain’t got the fingers or understanding
I gave up years ago with my guitar i broke my fingers on my left hand and can't get my fingers to stretch to the strings properly now only really get to use two fingers correct on the guitar sad to let my les paul go😢
I’m a beginner player at age 61. I watch a lot and I mean a lot of guitar playing videos very rarely. Does someone mention how to set the tones on the guitar and set up the amp where you can actually have a similar blue sound.
Hey! I answered your question on this week's podcast: ua-cam.com/video/mina0Ka5knI/v-deo.htmlsi=Lveu_9riSgSpltav&t=1530
@@PlayGuitarAcademy thank you! I appreciate you taking your time to explain your setups for blues sounds. I enjoyed that and learned something .
Unfortunately I couldn't find free worksheet just got a page trying to sell me stuff :(

I'm assuming these are all moveable,
Yes, you can slide them into any key.
My middle finger on g string mutes the b string.
Check out this link. I help with thumb and arm adjustments for clear sounding chords (also works for single notes). www.playguitaracademy.com/clear-chords
"...you don't know what to play, nothing you play sounds right."
Well congratulations, now you can play jazz
