When you were describing the lacquer sink on your Gibson US-1, how the quilt patter is physically shaped the guitar's top, interesting fact.
I've a 2000 Fender 3A Quilt Top where the polyurethane finish has actually sunk onto the quilt. When the light reflects off that top it almost looks like water!
Great video Austin, thank you for sharing this with us.
Gotta say, the Boston/Spotlight Special Story would be great to someday hear you tell.
It was an awesome 2021 in review!! Looking forward to “all” 2022 has in “store”!! Thanks Trogs!!

Great video thanx buddy I watched it all with a smile..I live through u
YEAH BABEY THIS IS WHAT IVE BEEN WAITING FOR WOOOOO

nic cage?
If I had the cash, and didn't live in another country that has crazy shipping costs at the moment,I'd love to own that Hot Rod Hollow body Les Paul,I think it looks great.
Same
If I had the cash, I'd love to own a Les Paul **full stop**
if i had a ratrod show car i could see having that for a show piece. or a classy tattoo shop display. it will sell when the right guy sees it.
I live in the UK and to import one from the US would add 25% min to the price. Then the currency is worth sh*T right now.
Probably cheaper to relocate to the US and buy one there
7:23 about the snakepit - I suggest that you can put the fake one and the real one next to each other in the museum and make an interactive question: "Which is the real Snakepit guitar?"
That could be fun! :D
This is a good idea
For real, that would be one of the best parts of a guitar museam
Popcorn ready!!!
2022 give us a burst!!!!!!
Holy $hit, at the 27:48 mark I thought the Rhino was falling over and off the chair!
I spilled my popcorn all over when I jumped towards the monitor to catch the guitar.....................
I can definitely see how you might’ve saw that haha
It's a Rhino. Its tuff. Falling off of furniture? No problem. Remember the unique volute? Lol.
HK Guitar,... I had the same exact reaction (minus the popcorn). Honestly, it really made me flinch.
Haven’t watched your channel in a bit to be honest, but coming back, I love these vids so much! You know your stuff and always show off the coolest guitars around
Trogly says you're welcome back
@@hisham_hm 🤣
happy new one trogly 🤟🇦🇺
The hippo is still my absolute favourite wish I could stair at that thing every day. Im happy that it’s not floating around places and that’s it’s in the hands of a truly passionate collector. You should be proud of this collection Austin. Found it cool that despite all you’ve done and all the guitars you’ve came across, you still have that childish worry of messing up the mojo of your sandblasted strat. I hope with all this that collecting never looses its magic for you. The king of guitar UA-cam, happy new year
Bummer on the sandblasted strat..love the chanel..I bought the 2020 US black sandblasted strat but mine doesn't have locking tuners..🤜🤛
Correction: Gibson ES-330 is not like an Epiphone Sheraton; it’s like a Casino. Casino and 330 are fully hollow bodied, essentially the same guitar. Sheraton is semi-hollow.
100% correct Sir.
Good catch.
The Sheraton and Casino much like the 335 and 330 are unique in that they looks so very similar and yet are constructed very differently from each other.
Yes - I misspoke there. Sheraton is the one that always comes to my mind first
Your "collection videos" are my favorite!
Cheers to another great year
I hope to one day get a collection as big as yours. I hope you get to open your museum soon, it would be a great excuse to travel to the US in the future.
Hopefully your collection won’t include so many guitars you don’t seek to even like.
@@ChuckNicholsonTRM I really like Les Pauls but only have Stratocaster style guitars funny enough. Seems to be the only thing I can afford at the moment but hope to get another guitar for my small collection in the year.
Would be cool if you had a museum, I'm just a few hours south of you!
50 of the most fabulous guitars I've ever seen and all in a single collection. Awesome !
I totally agree, that blue/green Fender caught my eye right away. I used to live on the beach and it looked like a piece of driftwood where the layers are worn off like that. Really unique and something I'd like to play. Looks like it would be comfortable to play and I love Strats.
Wow, Austin, an impressive collection indeed. I would never be able to pick a favorite out of all of those, but those Elegants sure are nice! Happy New Year everyone, may we all be blessed enough to get at least one of our dream guitars!
I can never get enough Adam Jones, Austin. Keep ‘em comin
Agree lol!
You're insane, Trogly. And I LOVE IT! THANK YOU! KEEP GOING.
Thanks for a fabulous year of video reviews. I'm a big fan and a daily viewer. Your videos are the main reason I started collecting in 2020 and playing guitars again after fifty years. I got my first guitar in 1966 (Mosrite Ventures Model) and played in a garage band through High School. If I only kept my gear from the sixties. Thanks again. 🎸
Trogly's in the HOUSE!!!
Greetings Greg
This will be a good one!
happy new year greg 🤟🇦🇺
Oah Yeah baby 🍪
Such a beautiful collection. I’ve got some 50 or 60 in my collection, mostly in the 2k range. I have different stories and attachments to them similar to yours. I really enjoy your videos, looking forward to 2022.
@@auntjenifer7774 fortunately, they aren’t for sale.
@@auntjenifer7774 Unlike cars and boats, guitars tend to go up in value. Buy low sell high or at least break even.
Been looking forward to this all year
Austin could finance a small island nation with the worth of those guitars lol Awesome video 👊
Always look forward to this recap at the end of the year!
Greetings and well wishes from Utah man!
Very enjoyable to see all these lovely guitars! The three pickup SG in White reminded me of Sister Rosetta Tharp, a most powerful performer who certainly got a very distinctive tone out of her guitar.
Awesome. And I thought I was extravagant for buying a cheap Orangewood for outdoor playing so as not to damage a medium-grade Taylor. Although I'm an acoustic-only player, I watch every single video you make. Hats off, and Happy New Year, Trogly.
Thanks for your efforts to lug these into the dining room and showcase them on cool furniture! Definitely easier to talk about than the old floor showcase.
Been waiting for this one all year!!!!
Oh and the Johnny winter,he was badass
Thanks for sharing. Sometimes when life gets crazy, your daily videos are a nice calm reminder of daily life and my love of guitar. Hopefully 2022 will be better for all.
I mean this in the best way,I don't think people appreciate how much time and effort go into your type of UA-cam channel and man you got a huge awesome basement to show these off.Alot bigger than the one you did this video in last year.Congrats on your success.
Love the kiwi and the elegants, just awesome!!!
I used to own a genuine 1959 es330 in excellent condition with case and case candy. Gone but not forgotten!
Happy New Year Austin I'm really glad you put out your guitar collection again I love it I must say you have some wonderful pieces in there some of them that I would love to play I love that Karina wood flying b but those Saturday night special let's calls got my heart those are the gorgeous keep up the good work I'll be watching everyday Aloha from Hawaii
Austin is in His House 🏠 and I am here watching 👀 😎 HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎊 🎉🥂🍾👶🙏🎷🥁🎸🎵🎶 Austin and Family ❤✌👍👏
I'm right there with ya Randy
Thank you for your year-end review of your guitars very fascinating
What can I say… just a jaw dropping collection man. I’m sure I’m not the only one that just likes to watch this show to vicariously live through that collection ahah! Some truly amazing guitars, especially since I really love American made instruments 🤙
Of course this is just my thinking , I'd have a real hard time moving the blond firebird , Johnny Winter was a very unique individual and player as is that guitar . As they say once it's gone it's gone . Great group of guitars . Think the blue DC LP is my favorite. Love the channel .
Phenomenal - including all that beautiful b-roll!
That Gibson Crest "hippo" 335.. WOW! 😍 That's my favorite, for sure. Absolutely gorgeous guitar.. The woodgrain is incredible!
Too bad that Jim James model doesn't have fancier inlays and binding around the F holes though. :/
Thanks for sharing! I'm in awe. I couldn't afford the strings. I watch your channel daily too.
The Korina V,Natural Deluxe,Blue Deluxe,Mummy and the Ice T Spot Lite that you didnt seem to care for all made me want to plug them in and jam! They were some of my favorites, such a killer collection!
Thank you for sharing your collection it is always interesting watching you display and talk about guitars
Luv your show! Thank you for hours of comfort, happiness, inspiration and therapy. Cheers
That last antique natural!!!! Holy SMOKES!!!!
Just wow! Happy New Year!🥳
Hey Trogly! Love your videos man, very informative and entertaining! I’m a bit of a Gibson Geek myself. I currently have 11 LPs and 4 SGs. I should become a trader but I just get too attached to them! In my collection I have 5 LP Customs, a 2004, a ‘90, an ‘81 and two ‘76s. I do like to have the gold covers on the pickups of customs, but one of my ‘76s came with the original T-Tops, but with covers removed. I finally got round to picking up some gold covers to fit, which have quite a thin/dull plating, but they are New and quite obviously not a good match to the other hardware. You mentioned Guitar Centre using some “Bad Product” which tarnished the plating… do you know what that was???
Wow.....just wow!!!!! When my wife tells me I have too many guitars, I'm going to show her this video. Happy New Year trogly!!
My wife "When you going to sell some guitars?" Me "very soon,"
Awesome year Austin! Thanks for the entertainment and teaching!
The coppercaster is gorgeous ! But my favs are the spotlight specials... And the Custom XPL ! Awersome collection !
Austin, thank you for sharing your collection with us… this year I bought a beautiful Les Paul Traditional in Blueberry Burst, but would love to one day have something as beautiful as one of the Spotlight Specials or something like that… you keep us Les Paul junkies dreaming 😂
Keep the 12 string, Trogly.
Great show. Thanks Trogly. Happy New Year.
I’m so glad you do this every year!
Thanx Trogly. I enjoyed seeing what you kept.
Amazing video! Thank you for showing us this incredible collection.
Love that SG Elegant, the 58 style Korina Flying V, Johnny Winter Firebird! Those are a few of my faves from this grandiose collection, thanks for sharing!
Although I agree with the idea of the collection being "grandiose", I have to wonder if you actually know the meaning of that term..
Great video as always Trogly! Have you ever thought about doing a review and demo of the Fender D’Aquisto? From what I can tell, they’re jazzboxes made by Fender, but to very Gibson-esque specs: 24.75” scale length, bound fretboard with either rosewood+dot inlays (Standard) or ebony+block inlays (Elite), one or two humbuckers with individual volume and tone controls, and an “open book”-style headstock. I think it would be really interesting to see you put one through its paces!
That finish can be blended, send it to stew Mac, they are amazing at blending finishes, I watch afew videos, you can't even tell there was a chip or scratch when there done, that's the good thing about lacquer. Its a hot solvent Everytime you put a coat on it bonds into the coat before it, I paint my own guitars but I don't know much about touchups.
Exquisite collection! Great video!
Just watched your "Good Wood Era" vid and thought I'd post this:
Mine is a 10lb. '98 Standard Honeyburst with the following upgrades: Tom Holmes Antique PAFs; Grover locking tuners; 500k CTS Pots w/ Bumblebee caps; neck PLEK'd in 2019; blank truss-rod cover, and an antique switch-tip (I have all the original parts in the case, which is in excellent condition).
Everyone who plays it says it's the best-playing LP they've ever rocked.
Maybe that is true?... but your Honeyburst guitar does not exist unless you share a picture or a video... or invite me over to test drive this mythical guitar? Until then, it is only a myth.
Thanks for sharing! Happy New Year, Austin
I just Love the first one with the blue binding. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜❤️!!!!!
I would be interested in that pinstripe guitar but just had a baby this year so that's a no go... Still I think it's a great guitar myself!
Never been interested in semi hollows, f- holes are not my thing. But if I was going to have one, it would be that one. I like the striping.
@@saltpeter7429 I've been wanting to get a semi hollow for a while now... The pinstripes are a bonus for me as well. I feel like it gives it a rockabilly or southern rock vibe haha
No guitar has ever spoken to me like my '79 CBS Black Beauty Strat. Maple neck is buttery smooth and I have never played a guitar I love as much. Close is my Godin Multiac Encore Nylon. I would never sell either.
Love the Troglys Guitar Show I'm binging all the vids love the information an Im always learning something new ..
Troglodytes Rock on Happy new year from the UK 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸🎸
This is The episode that I wait for all year!
Love the Les Paul in chocolate mint burst. That's one sweet guitar
Really dig those LP Studio Custom XLP models. I really wanted something like that back in the '80's, but I'm a lefty first and never knew about them anyway sooooo.... Nice catch!
I really like that Yamano Gold Top P90 Standard. Such a cool guitar.
I’m surprised to see that you don’t really have any modern “Burst” reissue LP’s. I guess you never really found one to bond with. The V and Explorer set are fantastic, although ridiculously priced.
Happy new year
I'm just going to say, WOW!!! That is a sweet collection.
Just curious, what is your opinion of a 79 custom silver burst only 200 made with ware from playing?
that single pick up pointy w/a kahler.. sweet
Most beautiful collection. If I had only one of them I'd be a happy guitarist.
Excellent, thanks for sharing!
Damn dude if I had 4k laying around I'd take that sg elegant in a heartbeat
Same here man I love that thing. Striking beauty she is
I'm not a huge fan of Gibson's but.. the fact you could turn a love for lp's into multiple businesses... just goes to show if you can find a job you love you'll never work a day. Not my pick of axes but I love the knowledge you share. You deserve every piece of wood with metal attached to it you got. 500$ or 50,000$ you earned it. Keep up the awesome videos
Love your channel, watch all your episodes and enjoy the deep dive into obscure Gibson releases. What is your opinion on the Gibson Les Paul Modern - Sparkling Burgundy Top model? Do you think it is a sleeper to buy now...its so beautiful.
He has done a review on that model.
Pretty sure his opinion was favorable.
beautiful guitar!
Few of my favorites are represented here. I wonder if that’s because this is more of a “collection” for investment sake rather than ‘player’ guitars? I’d have Telecasters and acoustics, different types of Gibbys, Rick’s and other thinlines… some basses and the oddball vintage gits that were ‘affordably’ priced in the day. ‘Twelve Strings’ would be represented and finances allowing, I’d have some custom shop Fenders and boutique builders too. Mostly an imagined collection for me at this point though so kudos Trogly! Thanks for sharing.
Hello
the US1 is so nice. you need to do a revew on the Gibson WRC, the charvel designed gibson. unless you already have, in that case...good job well done.
Most of us will never own a collection in volume or quality as this, and that's OK. The shared love of instruments as distinct "individuals" is fascinating to watch and cheer for, particularly in the hands of someone who brings so much back to the community about these things. Happy New Year to all, and we anxiously await the 2022 version of this video!!!
Are you serious?
Hey guy I love your show I have been binge-watching it for the past 3 months I've learned a lot about guitars. I have a large collection of unusual vintage guitars. A lot of them need restoring which I will do and some of them are in very beautiful condition. I'm like you I like quirky guitars my best one is a 67 Telco Delray which is the weirdest guitar I've ever seen. I also have a very old Harmony Guitar which I cannot find a date for on thinking it's around 67-68 no serial number which makes it even more difficult to find out. Thank you for what you do keep doing what you like and I'll keep watching.
Man your living the life. Collecting guitars is something I've always desired to do but I've no clue how the buy sell trade process really works or what I mean to say is I likely don't have the patience to work my way to thinks I want as you do. Fantastic collection though. Think for now I will just save money for the few that I do really want lol that Black Beauty Les Paul being up on the top of my list for sure. Adam's is the dream being a Tool fanatic but that's just too much bread for me.
Back in the late `70s Gibson made a S-1. It had a natural finish, with flying V style headstock, three single coil pickups each housed in a clear acrylic. 5-position selector knob. Dotinlays, no binding on neck or body. It must have been a very short run because if you wanted one it may be difficult to track one, a good one, down. I saw one on reverb and it had a maple fretboard. Mine had a rosewood fretboard. I wish Gibson would re-issue it.
Well I'm a traditional les Paul player and like traditional finishes and colors. The only one id buy or want is that 2000s les Paul standard 50s with beautiful top and back but you want a farm for it so nothing here that id be interested in but loved the show. Beautiful collection!
Well he didn't show these to sell them.
The guitars are great but I absolutely love Trogly's collection of rare onions at 23:54.
That blue is electric sweet color combo
Nice looking pool table to lay all those fabulous Les Paul’s on!
My collection pales to your Trog, but I would love to show it off to ya, just to hear your opinion, but I do have a Gibson1976 flat top limited edition that is a beauty, players wear that tells a story, but still would love to let you see mine, thanks for the vids, enjoy them
Looks like you could use a Les Paul classic AAA+ in blueberry burst made only for Long and mcquade Canads Gibson month
That that SG Elegant is beautiful!
Thanks so much for posting this. Now when the wife say's I have too many guitars, I just pop this on the computer and say............ NOT YET but I am sure trying!
Great collection.
Fantastic collection! Love the many weird Gibson Specials!
Very nice collection... I'm jelly. I have a very similar 2011 Les Paul cherry sunburst which looks almost as nice as yours but with just regular mahogany back and neck. The top has gotten prettier with age. There is a "plek'd" sticker on the bridge pickup that I am afraid to remove. Do you have a suggestion on how to remove it, or if I should just leave it on?
I love the whispery voice over in this! "IN A WORLD..."
