That 335 became mine a few days ago. It should arrive today. I actually had them send me some live photos of her so I could take a look as I had the same idea that you did about a contrast adjustment. I didn't buy it in shop, but I bought it direct from them via messaging. I will follow up and let you know how accurate the pictures are when she arrives. Awesome, I'm now a permanent part of the Trogly Show!!!! Pretty cool wake up this morning after my brother watched and brought me here. Thanks Rob!!
The grain is glorious, but the photos on Reverb were definitely a Contrast adjustment. Just unboxed her today and I could not be happier. My first 335 and I am in love.

I bought a Michael Kelly many years ago as a "beater" guitar, and it ended up becoming one of my favorites.
I am sorry, I am a player, not a collector. I can look at a cool guitar and think "that's nice, I would like to have that" but then you look at today's prices and you think " $13,000!!!!!WTF!!!!!" it makes no sense to me unless someone famous owned it and you are a collector. Unless you are independently wealthy, a rock star or a dealer who sells to the previous 2 entries, who the hell can afford this???? I am 55 I remember when you could go to a garage sale and buy a cool vintage guitar for $20 and that was literally 20 years ago. These same guitars cost $1,000 to $3,000 online for no apparent reason except there are some people who think if it is old it is made of gold or with extra money collecting dust apparently. Don't get me wrong I enjoy watching videos like this and have been subbed for a few years at this point but I must say and no offense Trogly, I know you want guitars to be worth more than a house, this is how you make your living but us commoners who have been working musicians for decades are flabbergasted by the way the internet has destroyed us "actual musicians" ability to buy decent guitars at a reasonable price. We use these as tools of the trade and have been edged out of the market by collectors who have been tricked into thinking a newish guitar with some one-off paint is somehow worth as much as a new vehicle. Sorry for the rant, it just gets to be a bit much sometimes.

I’m right there with you on this. Tricky has a cool channel and I enjoy looking at some of the nice guitars on here, but, I’ve also been playing for the last 40+ years and like you said, the guitar is a tool to make music, and it should never cost more than a car or a mobile home lol… particularly when there are companies like Harley Benton out there making very playable quality instruments for under $300 or Guitars Fetish’s own lines for around the same. Plus most Gibson’s look amazing but we all know they can suffer some of the worst quality control out there which alone disqualifies it from boasting price tags over $1,500 … it’s the one thing that’s consistently pushed me towards Fender all these years (to be fair Fender has its own issues too).
What goes up, must come down.
Collectors, and snobs are why rock and roll will stay dead. The only way that rock and roll can be revived is that if guitarists remember that the original versions of the most iconic guitars in history are made from spare parts.

I remember the 50s when made in Japan was the running joke for the poor quality of manufacturing. Now the Made in the USA is related to way overpriced! I watch many auctions and unfortunately for those of us that aren’t independently wealthy everything is way over priced! There are many Randy Bachman owned guitars that have starting bids in the $300 to $5000 range before the auction starts. I’m betting they all go for stupid money! It’s like Mecum and Barrett Jackson auctions for classic cars has pushed the prices into outer space! Such a shame for us regular folks!

If I was a lefty I would buy that 73 Les Paul. The gold top looks incredible. The pickguard would have to go completely I know you like it but I would take it off

The only thing that saved that one Les Paul from being a Barbie les Paul was the lack of glitter. But i wouldve called it pepto pink anyway.
Seems like all we talk about here is expensive Gibson brand guitars.

My personal preferences being a player/collector are based on “Looks”, “Tone”, “Playability” & “Price”…if it don’t catch your eye…it’s outta mind…it has to sound different than anything I’ve played or heard…must flow when playing…and not be outlandishly expensive…

The back plate is for the switch. No?
Well, the switch is under the pickgard, like a strat style guitar. Strat style guitars don't have a back plate for the switch, so why should this?
The 2003 Gibson Flying V Custom with the Gold Top Finish was a Special Order guitar. It is not worth 30K as it just doesn't have any thing to add such value other than the Gold Top finish which is a limited collector base market and even then it still is way over priced. It might be a owner who is trying to satisfy the "Wife" by "Attempting" to sell this guitar knowing it will NEVER sell at that price. That happens more than you know and I know a few who used that method to keep Mama off their back and keep their prized baby because you can't just own ONE!. Sometimes it's a seller testing the market and we are NOT in a "Sellers" market right now. I know the BIGGEST Flying V Collector in the USA and even he doesn't think this will pull in anywhere close to 30K.
It's the other way round. Never tell your wife that your guitar is worth a foreign holiday.

There were Only 40 Gibson Flying V Customs made in 2002 which my collector friend told me last night and he owns one of the 40. He also told me that he was told by Gibson that in 2003 they did offer a few differnet colors. I can't find the listing and it didn't show up in the sold listings either the seller must have gotten too many messages telling him that the price was unrealistic and pulled it or he worked a deal away from Reverb. I seriously doubt he got 30K.
