- USPS have variety of task assigned to them in the processing plant. Here are the 3 best jobs of seasonal Mail Handler Assistant in the processing center.
Key-ing and scanning mails is a Mail Processing Assistant and PSE job. But there are many no shows and call-offs during Saturdays and Sundays. Due to that, our plant manager and supervisor also assign MHAs to cover the shortage of manpower on weekends to meet the daily quota.

@@rekhabista6064 It means you pass the exam and at the first step of hiring process. They still have to do a background check NASI then fingerprint (biometric) before you get hired.

@@user-ii8em7hb4d I was working 10 hours a day 5 days a week when I first landed my job. After that, they increased it to 12 hrs/day 6days/wk. Normally it takes 2 years to become a regular employee, but last year they did a fast track and promoted all the temp to regular.

Congratulations! Easy Fernando. Postal work is hard. You will work 12 hours a day, 6 days a week as a new employee. Go to the gym and work that muscles out. You will be carrying heavy loads and on your feet the whole day. You will work holidays, so be prepared not spend all holidays with your family.

Hey may I ask during your 15 years did you receive raises? Was it a livable/adult job for you to be able to handle your business?
Did you have access to OT, PTO, vacation days, and benefits?
@@Ty0688 In my 25 years/you got raises according to the USPS CONTRACT every 4 years/so over that time you got increases in increments.Every PO installation OT was different by size of employees and amount of work and staffing.You get paid vacation (12 hrs) per month which you can accumulate up to 444hrs per year/again by service time in PO was your vacation time(2-3-4-5weeks) according to your years in service.You can use your ANNUAL TIME for a day off or more,this time again is accumulating time like I said previously!You get 12 hours per month for sick time(sick emergencies)you can accumulate as much of that as long as you’re WORKING!!..No CAP on that. I lasted 25 years,sure it was 95-2020,but it gave me a decent retirement,you can also get into a separate 401k which PO will match whatever you put into it up to 5%…Hey no layoffs,job security with retirement..hard to beat that today..hope I answered your questions and good luck to you!!

I have a few questions regarding the job at timestamp 3: 13. It shows the employee sitting down in a chair scanning the packages on a conveyor belt.
1) What is the exact name for that job position?
2) Also, does that employee have to lift, carry or pull anything that is heavy?
3) Is there a job position where this can be done with letters instead of packages?

When I was a carrier in NYC I used to have frequent conversations with the young janitor and I myself wanted to become one. A lack of available vehicles that forced me to pound the pavement made me quit after about a year. But I loved the job, co-workers and the entire management team. This was at the Fordham station in the Bronx. Now, I accepted an offer as a MVO and I'm very much looking forward to working as a bulk mail driver. If an IT job becomes a possibility I may go for it.
How do you go about being a forklift driver or pallet jack driver? Do you have to start from different position first? Or can you apply for that position?

Yes! Our maintenance sits all day.
Except vehicle maintenance, we are ps9 and ps10 but a 30 year old fleet that has to stay running will keep you working.
I am supposed to start next Monday as a MHA. I have hurt my knee and am having trouble walking! I don’t have insurance to go to a dr. I won’t be able to do this, will I?
You won't know until you try. It depends where they assign you, maybe you can request to be in the area where they key or scan the mails so you will be sitting the whole time.

Hi Marie! Just wanted to say I love your channel, I've found your videos so helpful! I do have a question. I got an email welcoming me to the USPS. It told me my Enter On Duty date. What does enter on duty mean? It said they would not send me my orientation date until after that date.

whats the difference PSE Mail Process Clerk and Mail handler assistant?
PSE sort mails, MHA sort packages but sometimes their work overlaps and depending on the need of man power, they switch roles.

I just started as an mha in feb. I was placed in an annex facility helping with Covid kits. What happens after? Do they send you to a plant or do they just let you go?
It depends on the demand for manpower. Other case is if they like they will keep you. Work hard and make friends.

They laid us off and informed us we would return during peak season

Custodian is the best, then MHA or anything that says "Career" job. Because it means you get all the benefits of a permanent employee.
So you left out being an expediter how is that not on the list. You pick the most basic jobs forklift driving isn’t the best by any measure apbs is cool but when you have to dispatch the mail and it coming fast. None of those jobs are the best at all.
We are here for the money.

I used to work in parcel post. In my area, we are processing those boxed packages.

Started a couple months ago been doing 6 and 7 days a week going into peak season soon where it be 7 days a week for a month or more 12 hours a day also that row of box you showed is either Adus or Apbs and adus ties out to LCUS or also know as fingers where I mainly work as a MHA or dispatch sometimes but they like me at lcus

Wow at our plant the PSE’s and Clerks sit at top of the conveyor belt. The Mail Handlers load the belt.
As a seasonal employee, the supervisor assign MHA's to do the key-ing/scanning of the parcels specially on Saturdays and Sundays because a lot of employees doesn't show up on weekends. Since then they mix up MPA and MHA to avoid shortage of manpower and meet the daily quota minimum of 30,000 parcels per day. The supervisor also get a reward by meeting and exceeding the quota.

Jobs in the post office (where you buy stamps) is easier. Working in the plant is hard unless you don't mind lifting.
Is MHA hard for a 53 year old woman? If you work in the plant do they move you around to other locations?

Your supervisor is the person who can help you because they are the ones who can send you to the training. Please tell them that you are interested in driving a forklift.

Hay mari I been at my plant for 6 months now and it sucks usps is by far the worst company to ever work at when my first 90 days was good but now I'm looking for another job

Mari I was making more than I was making now at my last job my supervisor just call me yesterday and inform me that all MHA on high speed are getting there shift change my regular shift was from 2 to 10;30 now starting on Monday it from 7 pm to 3 am I'm done with the United states postal service they should be ashame for the way they treat there worker I'm waiting for new Jersey transit to call me back so that I can resign
