  • How I perfected the jab to win an Olympic Medal in boxing! The jab punch is the most important punch in boxing. It has helped me become an undefeated professional boxer. In this video, I will share with you how perfecting the jab has helped me win an Olympic medal, seven national titles, and a European gold medal. You will also get to learn what makes this punch so unique.
Watch me break down amazing boxing techniques
    ua-cam.com/users/playlist?list...
The jab is probably the first punch you learn in boxing. While it might seem like something for beginners, it's actually not. Quite the contrary, the jab is universally recognized as the most important punch in boxing.
The reason for this is that the jab helps you set up all your other punches. It enables you to find your range. If you follow my channel you probably already know that the jab and the left hook to the body are my favourite punches in boxing. I can tell just how hard a fight is going to be within the first 40 seconds of a fight simply from my ability to land a jab on my opponent.
I have found that if you can land a jab on your opponent, then you can land any other punch. The jab can not only get you in range but also get you out of danger.
I will be honest with you, perfecting the jab is not an easy task. You will need to put in a lot of effort. Like almost any other skill, improving your jab requires a lot of practice. However, you won't get good practising the wrong technique with your jab. I am going to show you how to practice with the perfect jab.
The first kind of jab I am going to share with you is the speed jab. In this video, you will also learn how to throw a power jab. It is very important that you master both the speed jab and the jab.
How to throw the perfect jab? You need to fully extend your arm so you can set up all your other punches. Not extending your arm means you can't get enough power on the jab. It also means that you are still in range for a deadly counter punch from your opponent. When throwing the power jab, you need to step into it to get the maximum power.
Throwing the speed jab, on the other hand, is mainly to frustrate your opponent. The secret here is to make it really fast. It keeps your opponent thinking and weary of your next punches.
My name is Tony Jeffries, Olympic medalist and retired professional boxer. I am now co-owner of Box 'N Burn, two boxing fitness gyms in Los Angeles, as well as the Box 'N Burn Academy where we train professional boxing trainers.

I use to be an Amateur boxer and I would use a a power jab in which I would kind of bend slightly in the knees and then leap forward and twist my torso while I threw the jab so that I was completely bladed and it was so powerful that I had some opponents and sparring partners tell me that it was just as powerful as any right or left hand straight cross that they had ever felt.

I have been wondering about how to properly do a step back jab if an opponent is coming at me quickly and say i wanted another option besides a pivot the left. When i jab and go backwards, am i punching first and then stepping back immediately with my back foot and then bring the lead foot back to finish the movement? Or am i stepping back with my back foot first and then doing the jab and lead foot movement at the same time?

Hello mate great video as always. Can you do a video on how to take a punch in a boxing match and what you should do when you are hurt in boxing.
As always great video as always👊.

if you see the punch coming you can take it, that is if you use to being hit if not spar spar and spar the best way to get fit to fight as your training to fight in the ring is spar spar spar !!! , but still run. go on punch bag and skip .if You see the punch you can become kind of punch resistance as you body is ready to take it subconsciously ether by riding the punch ie rolling with the force or just gritting ur teeth and taking it , its the punch you dont see that knocks you out , Also the size of the gloves makes a big difference ..

I had no experience at all in boxing. I started watching your videos. Now I have others asking me for advice. The only advice I can really give with confidence is telling them to watch your videos. I really love the one that said something like "Look like a pro when hitting the heavy bag" Once I started using the information on that video, I really got a lot of compliments some even thought I was a pro boxer. LOL Thanks Tony because of you I am getting better and better. Oh! did I mention the girls said they really like my moves LOL. Again, Big thank you, Tony, you're the best!!!!!!
