7:24 Don't forget that defensive clinch will coming at you...🤔
Hey so I’m a tall fighter and I’d really appreciate it if you made a video involving how tall people can defend against short stocky guys who are coming in trying to get to the body
You forgot the cross armes guard
Upper cuts, my sons and I work on them, oldest sons brilliant at it, I'm not too bad, young fellas starting to pick it up, pretty much what you do and talk about the same is similar or same to how we practice, keep up the good work

I can’t seem to get over that Connor vs. Ali background...coolio!
Would have been better with GSP and Ali. The GOAT of their sports
@Humble & Deadly hmm makes sense. Btw do you think silva and jones should be considered GOAT after their failed drug test?
@Humble & Deadly i like how you backed up your statement with a good arguement but i dont think conor deserves to be up there even though they have a similar style for their respective arts conor has no class or respect doesnt have an ounce of humility some of the things that were huge in ali yeah he talked shit but he was humble he wasnt speaking out his ass he wasnt being a piece of shit outside of the ring there's so many things that make it wrong to put conor up there with a legend like ali but at the same time i cant say much bad about his fighting ability so you make a very good arguement but imo would just be impossible for me to have conor on the same picture as ali
@@jplcashi don't agree with conor has no class or respect. He was always respectful towards his opponents after the fight regardless of the results. You see his press conference after the Aldo win and after loss to nate diaz proves it. But by the time of Eddie alvarez fight guy went on a dark path and lost his way.. But he's a changed man now. Getting better and being respectful. That loss to khabib was necessary.
I think thats not Ali! Its Lyoto Machida
this guy is very underrated, this guy deserve more attention

The Cus D'Amato taught peekaboo style wasn't about taking impact from punches on your gloves it was about weaving and slipping punches in a defensive scream (almost moving in a pendulum like motion) in a way that would position you for a counter punch or a combination of counter punches. The guard Cus taught Patterson and Tyson was also lower than you demonstrated, Tyson placed his gloves on his cheekbones so vision wouldn't have been impaired. Probably the most difficult style to master out of every one including Philly shell.
True but I think alot of it had to do with Tysons build ,speed n power that stlye perfectly fit him ..I think cus would've trained everyone slightly differently depending on the person's strengths and weaknesses..no doubt one the very best trainers to do it..
@@thinkb4uspeak643 yeah, you can see how Floyd Patterson doesn't keep to a tight guard like mike tyson for long periods of time, as mike tyson was looking for knockout/damaging punches whether Patterson was looking to take advantage of the speed he had. If you watch his fight against Muhammad Ali, (in my opinion) you can really tell that the style didn't suit Patterson
totally agree .. in peak a boo ure nonstop shiftin and slippin ... stick and move .. never rest on 12 o clock .. even when he cought u ure in movement ... also creates alot o angles .. tyson had adapted it much better then patterson imo
I am glad of your comment, I didn't recognize the Damato ´s technique and recommandation here.
I heard of something called a Dempsey roll idk what it is but ik it’s bout weaving and slipping
Now i need them to re-open the pub to try this...

Boxers who execute(d) these styles extremely well:
1. Ali, Roy Jones JR, Fury
2. Tyson
3. Floyd, Canelo Alvarez
4. Holyfield, AJ
thanks for sharing!
Also 1. Prince naz
3. Gervonta
4. Marvin hagler southpaw style
Ali and Roy Jones had VERY different styles. LOL Watch their footwork more carefully. LOL LOL
3. James Tooney, Bernard Hopkins
4.Lennox Lewis
The reason why the peekaboo style worked so well for Tyson (at least when he used it) was his speed. He was quick, and when he trained before the fights it was ridiculously hard to hit him and stop him from coming in. If you use peekaboo and don't find a way to close the gap you are basically standing there waiting to get your ass kicked.
🤣🤣

4:12 This was very educational for me, only I feel he could learn more from Tyson's Peek a Boo style which is inside fighting... Me too
I use the peek a boo style and it's perfect for me since I'm a short and heavy build person, So I use angles and cut off the ring. That's a super pro for the peek a boo. Since it's super defensive the counter hits are very cold blooded
Peek a boo works best for short dudes since you can weave under many shots
@@hithere2602 I watched hajime no ippo and ippo is short but he uses peekaboo and he’s fast and his punches are strong
Spot on Chris. It's a hard style and dam you need to be super fit to use it right. I'm also a short fighter and wished I was taught it in my younger days. But sadly there is not many out there who can teach this style correctly in most areas and also you need different exercises for your muscles in this style as you really don't stop moving lol.
Peek a boo is undeniably one of the best style in boxing packs alot of power and defended like a turtle in its shell.
However the technique takes years to master and it's not a joke it's all about positioning if you can't close the distance then you'll just eat a long range punches .
Not recommended for newbies you need to master it 100% ,it's not going to be easy but trust me once you you're one of the most deadliest boxers.
@@jamescrick8080 I'm 18 55kg what can you recommend me to fucus first ?

This right here is the beauty of this video. There are countless videos on stances but not enough that include how to counter the stances
That background mural is clean AF... No joke. A thousand words can be said. I am in awe of the concept alone. Big ups.

I really love your videos, as always excellent explenation. I use to mix between peekaboo and distance style and works for me
Don’t know what Tony’s aspirations are but as trainer for high profile boxers, he’d be fantastic.
You have elaborated the guards and stances in avery simple way which is well grasped. Thanks for your training.
This is absolute GOLDEN. Thank you very much Coach Tony.
Great video 👍 One thing about the Peekaboo Style, Cus would encourage MASSIVE head movement while moving forward. It allowed you to avoid covering up too often and made better space to give punches and return position.
Great video! Another Con of the Traditional Boxing Stance, is you constantly have both hands up, which leads to having tired arms. But everything else you mentioned is spot on!
The Con of the Philly shell shoulder roll, throughout time , your shoulder can get impingement. Great tips 🥊
You've really helped me level up my boxing game. Respect.

The Philly Shell looks cool but is for experts only.
All styles are for experts lol
🥊
@@The.panthera., No, not exactly, some stances are are ideal for novices. The Philly Shell is a style you should NOT implement in a fight until you’ve trained that style for a long time. Reason being is, the Philly Shell requires too many components for it to be successful, ie Good reflexes, great boxing IQ, great vision, and a lot of speed. If you lack just one of those components, the Philly Shell is easily compromised, whereas, other styles give more error room for a fighter who’s not well honed. The Philly Shell is the best boxing stance if you master it, hence the reason all of the greatest defensive fighters were practicioners of the style.
@@landon7453 Yes it would lol. The Philly Shell relies less on the gloves than the other styles mentioned except the hand down stance. The Philly Shell’s strength is the tight narrow target it presents. If you’re good at it, you’ll be nearly impossible hit clean, glove or no gloves.
@@landon7453 Bounce off of the shoulder? Do you box, my friend? A blow is a blow. If you slip a punch, you slip a punch, it doesn’t matter if you have on gloves or not. The difference in power from a gloved punch and a bare knuckle punch, is extremely minimal. Gloves are only there to protect your hands, NOT to reduce power.

@@Tony_Jeffries yeh every time, follow you on insta too, had a one to one session today, my coach said I was looking a lot better and more comfortable, I have fallen into a much more traditional stance and like you said, it has massively sped up my lead jab. Thanks so much, man!
i love learning new techniques and styles and most importantly the weaknesses of each. During my MMA training the majority of people there do mostly boxing punching and some that are more experienced than me use a difficult style which i haven't been able to find a way to beat and so I've been experimenting with different movements, fighting styles, and techniques to try to bait him out and i finally managed to do so today and change it so that instead of him having the control over the fight the whole time, i finally have it which felt incredible because i was able to slip, duck, and dodge out of the way of all his strikes and get some good clean counters in as well and because im still new it feels soooo incredible to be good at sparring and btw he doesn't go easy on me either, he is a good mate of mine but ever since i started training with him if I messed up and he got an opportunity then he would knock me on my ass without a second thought which since i come from a taekwondo background where most people have never actually been punched i was the same and so he has taught me not to be scared of getting hit and to loosen up and now id like to think im getting to his level just after a year!
This is also teaching us how to counter those defense stances💯
Thanks alot for all the valuable lessons very well apreciated mate
