    Very much like an optimal skateboarding stance imo.
    Have recently started boxing training and been on the floor to ceiling bag everyday and a lot of the stuff I've self learned you are saying in this video regarding planting the feet, the back foot and the back knee, ridged ankles and soft knees which I also do in bowl skateboarding with my back knee and also learning a few extra tips. It's amazing how many similarities the two stances have but makes sense as they are both related to balance, power, stability and precise technique. Really liking your channel and learning boxing.

      good way to put it , the key word being stance/balance/form , without a good form on the skateboard you have poor balance and you moves will suck so strong base followed by good technique , power comes later .

    Oh man, my karate instructor would spend a whole hour talking about how your power comes from your feet, then hips, shoulders, then fists. I remember the first time it clicked. Just for an brief instant, you transfer the force or the blow, then reverse the body rotation. Your hand was like the end of a whip. But you had to go rigid for a fraction of a second to deliver the blow.

    Why do you think letting the front knee collapse kills the power but then you recommend doing it on the back knee

    • @crisalcantara7671
      @crisalcantara7671 6 місяців тому +1

      what do you mean , doing what punch exactly ? all i know from studying martail arts is that when doing a move you need to be aware of how you shift your weight and why you do it , if you remeber when you were a noob and getting taught the basisc , they told us how to step when punching etc but most don't teach us step by how we shld shift are wieght and when not to etc . i think to much wieght on one leg is not good , usually beginners make the msitake of leaning to much forward or back without having good balance / refexsive movemet with their body .

    More weight is on the back foot but when you throw the punches there is a slight shift in body weight, you just can’t see it.. It’s all coming from the legs. It’s impossible to not transfer your weight if you’re doing it properly.

    35 years ago when I learned boxing turning the front foot wasn't even a thing. At least now coaches are speaking out so we can stop it. Beginners do not need to learn that. Teach them to twist the hips instead otherwise they won't develop that twist. Reminds me of Russian vs Cuban style. Maybe that's where it came from, or MMA?

    My ten-year-old doesn't believe me when I tell him that he's on his front foot. As with most kids, the last person they want to listen to is a parent; however, when a disinterested third party says something, they tend to take it to heart. Hopefully your articulate explanation and demonstration of these critical details will be taken to heart and applied.
    To his credit, he does it right most of the time. That said, he'll sometimes revert to some previous bad habit if he's focusing on some other aspect of his craft. While consistent excellence is what we're trying to achieve, I need to temper that by remembering that--like all human beings--he won't have a fully developed (adult) brain until somewhere between 25 and 30. I digress.

      ‘Never get the chance to find out who you really are stuck in some factory in Ohio’
      Life is a gamble. How many brain injuries occur from driving automobiles? How do you know you won’t get sick and die next week? Even if you lived a healthy life, one day you will get sick and die anyway.
      My grandad worked all his life and died in pain a few years into his retirement with esophagus cancer. At some point the horror comes for us all - whether you want a quiet life or a blaze of glory. I’d watch that you don’t let the fear of something happen, make nothing happen at all.
      Not all boxers get brain damage anyway. The human body was designed to take a certain amount of knocks, we wouldn’t have been good hunter gatherers would we?
