Hi Ed,Very informative video! I have a question though. I tried making a pen out of Amber Ripple (Italian Lucite). When turned, the blank is almost transparent rather than translucent. I tried painting the tube, and when inserted, the tube is quite visible. So I figured I would try reverse painting the blank. I mixed a color that matched the amber blank color. I painted the inside of the tube using a Q tip. Let it dry and inserted the tube. Viola! The tube is not visible at all. I figured I'm good to go and finished turning the pen. Only to find that every flaw in painting showed up like a search light. Not to mention the drill marks also telegraphed right through the paint. Any thoughts on how to hide the tube when using a nearly transparent blank?? I very stupidly tried reverse painting the blank and painting the tube. The tube simply would not fit in the blank. Doh!!Thanks for any guidance!!Rich

Making pens from very translucent material requires a lot of prep. You will need to clean up the drill marks (scratches) on the inside of the blank. There are far more WRONG ways than there are correct. Unless there is a compelling reason, I would not encourage you to use translucent blanks. I could make several videos about how NOT to clean the inside of a blank to remove the drill scratches!!
