Seeing you mix the paint and getting the changes that the theory implies will happen is amazing. The concept of memetism in learning really applies here, where monkey sees and thus understands and proceeds to do. Whereas if you show charts and tell people, ain't nobody really get wtf is going on.
As a self taught artist, who just so happens to be colour blind and haven’t properly painted for 10 years (before I watched UA-cam), obviously it’s debatable, but I’m a decent painter but I’ve started to watch a few tutorials now and realise how little I actually understand technically, I will of course sub consciously do a lot of this mixing but my eyes have been opened! I’m now wondering how much my artwork will change knowing more theory! Great video, very simple yet effective!
I love this. I have to say that you and Draw Mix Paint are a fountain of knowledge and your presentations are done very well. I'm encouraged, now it's time to practice. Thank you!!

Awesome class, well explained and the demo makes it an excellent way to appreciate the color mixing for skin tones. Thanks so much for the time, effort and determination to keep us informed and continuing our education. You are an excellent instructor, artist and human being. Blessings and take care.
Hi Stephen, thank you for great content! In some of the videos you start painting on an already washed or glazed canvas with a similar hue as the brown yellow paint you are using here. Can you please make a video about staining a canvas prior to painting. And of course, are you using that tube for it? Eva
what wood is that? is it okay to make glass as pallete? I can't mix the colors well on glass pallete, it's not clean like what you do there. I can't scrape the oil paint well
I use some really cheap paint. I got paint that I can still use from 7 years ago. If stored properly and has a good sealing container it can last. The paint I have is acrylic though, im not sure about oil but I would think it's the same thing
Hey, Stephen! I accidentally bought a large tube of Flake White (instead of my usual Titanium White) and I had such a hard time using it especially when mixing colors. May I ask why you prefer Flake White (at least for this demo) and/or it's pros compared to Titanium White? Thanks in advance :) PS. Thanks for all the great videos

Yes- it is a tube of Raw Umber.
Very nice👏👏👏👍 ❤
Thank you! Cheers!
Which color is the closest to yellow brown? I have burnt sienna, yellow ochre and burnt umber, which one can be used instead?
Raw umber can sometimes be used to cool and neutralize.? And is one of the cheapest pigments.
Hey Stephen, could you nudge the audio volume up just a bit on your videos?
Hello sir Goodeve thanks you for sharing your knowledge i love your channel why you use Cobalt Blue instead of Ultramarine Blue?
Ultramarine is biased towards violet. Cobalt is closer to primary blue.
Podrias poner los subtitulos en español, solo salen en ingles. gracias
Is the yellow py42? Thnxs

Posh palette from New Wave Palettes
@@stephenbaumanartwork Thank you

Saturation and Chroma the same thing ?
More or less
Why flake white & not titanium white
If I am not far off--I would say this is a Zorn palette.
Close. Zorn + blue.
Do paint ever expire? Are they like honey?

@@Sunshinemagicsys Im using oil paint in a tube from 1993, it seems fine lol

Transparency and low tinting strength. For some effects this is VERY useful.
Use less colour to mix with flake white, less tinting strength = colours tint the white more. (In contrast w/ titanium white).
unfortunately I have problems to follow your unnatural speed up voice, otherwise your work is incredibly good and helpful, excellent.
Go to settings and change the playback speed, I do it sometimes.
😁👍
Thank you, that helps 🙂@@redangrybird7564
