Battery location, interior, wheels and tires, play a bigger role than you think in controlling how much and where the weight of your car sits. Enjoying the RX8 content (actually I love the variety here) so keep it up. One thing to always remember in this lightening and balancing project is that cars do not drive themselves. Before you even start looking at corner weights, you need to put your body weight in the driver's seat. When we raced touring cars we used whatever we could find like barbell weights, water softener 40lb bags, whatever. Then you have the true view of what the car is experiencing on the track. Once you load your weight in the seat, fix the big things before starting to move things around. For example you have a clear cross corner problem. Your RF and LR are a line load carrying far more than the LF RR combo. These cross weights are very important - balance them. But if you put your weight in the seat maybe this won't be too bad on your car, let's see. Check it. So the first fix is ride heights in the corners to get that balanced (raise corner height to add more weight and vice versa). From there you start moving things around to meet your targets and then fine tweak it at the end with corner heights again. Cheers from an old touring car racer and current GSL-SE track car owner.
I wish I could corner balance it with the suspension but I don't have adjustable suspension. Just a simple shock and spring setup for now. Eventually I'll get some better suspension and go down that rabbit hole of a proper corner balance :) 😀

Weight reduction is really overlooked by most people but is the cheapest and best way to not only make a car faster but will improve handling and braking too, it's generally possible to reduce the weight of modern cars by 500 lbs or more by simply removing stuff or by changing out components for lighter ones, like seats, pulleys, starter, radiator, battery, wheels, etc. Of coarse changing components will cost but it's definitely worth it.
You won't get much better cooling if you remove or drill big holes in crash bar and drill out upper half of grill. It doesn't impedes air flow to radiator because radiator is under all that. Maybe if you could relocate radiator a bit (change angle a bit, make it more upright) and then do all that with grill, crash bar and metal sheet behind crash bar, then it might have results. But that also requires custom "pluming", wiring, etc. So, lots of work. My suggestion is hood vents and ducting from radiator to those vents.
To get that over steer handling, I've heard auto crossers say adjust camber around 2 degrees, because in stock form rx8s understeer.

Can you go over what would commonly be needed for a rebuild if the water gaskets go? obviously rotors seals, but just the process

Love the video and I have subscribed. I am an Fd owner ormand my car caught engine fire back in 1999. The cause was a leaking injector. I was able to put the fire out quickly. I suggest to fix that fuel leak
a Renault Megane 03-07 bumper support will bolt onto a rx8, its alloy and wont obstruct as much as stock, as much as im all about weight saving (i peeled away all the sound deadening in my 8) but you may want a crash bar when your going of the side of a cliff
any plans to remove the little bar that used to hold your battery\airbox?, i unpicked mine and it makes so much room for activity's
Anyone tried the Racing Beat Revvi intake? It looks very oem+ which is cool, but I'm curious about performance.
The RB duct alone helps with flow to the intake box it's worth the effort and price.
maybe CF front fenders bumper and hood? but will it be worth the cost vs how much youll save in weight.

Question is it possible to install a Weldon high capacity inline fuel pump and higher capacity injectors as is? And see how performance is improved with all other engine internal parts stock?
Oh yea do we love hate with scales and other chinesium tools electronics almost always got a design flaw like my latest thing fooling with amp boards they glued the head sink on transistor yea one shut down 1/2 power ill fix them but at least i found an amp board that all was wrong with it. some are just junk junk but thank God for Y T testers scoping this stuff .but now i found out about brazillian made Taramps ill just use one of them impressive units ands use theses amp boards in my Dads theater pc build integrate a amplifier why not/sorry a bit of a ramble

Why don't you get a lithium ion starter battery, they weigh less than 15 pounds, I install one in my MK5 GTI and took over 25 pounds off the front end of my car.
