Wow, that's gonna be a really nice setup. Would have been nice if they could have machined "T-Dog" into the battery tray, maybe something to think about down the road. I relocated my battery to sit in my lap so it will feel safe and cared for the way my forefathers cared for their batteries. Personally I think all vehicles should have a way to jump a battery from both ends. I don't know how many times I've needed to jump a car that was in a parking spot with people on all sides so you've got to push the car out to jump it. You'd think manufactures would catch on by now.

Tony Hey Brother tell me what kind of fuel line was that and where you got it at and how much it was and also what is your recommendation on affordable AN fittings? Also I would be really interested if you would do a in-depth video for dummies how to build AN lines gas and trans and also if you have a line on nice looking vacuum line as well

michael penna for vacuum line I usually just use normal vacuum hose and put the nylon sleeping over top. Here is one of the links to the AN install.

what will happen if you decide to just ground the battery in the new location, will it cause the battery to drain? Or whats the deal?

@8:47 you discussed the use of cable coating protection... I'm just curious...how this product would protect the original coating of the cable(s) against a "pinch-point" location where the cable is resting on?
I know we try not to expose the cable(s) to such a location but having to use a thicker AWG wire (00, 000) sometimes this might not be avoidable.
People have to really do their homework on this "battery relocation" task. You made quite a few great points about the type of copper wire one needs to consider before poping open the hood of the car.👍

    • @TonyTheTechnician
      @TonyTheTechnician  2 роки тому +1

In those tight areas where you can't avoid the bend I try to either double up this coating or at minimum run the hard plastic shrouded over that portion of the cable. Thank you I appreciate the input 👍👍👍

@@TonyTheTechnician Sure, that makes sense... I'm planning on relocating my Battery in the 2010 Dodge Avenger to the trunk of my car. Currently it's located in the bottom portion of the front wheel well.. (why dodge ever decided to locate it there is rediculous especially when there's ample room within the engine bay compartment!)
Because of the battery is located in the wheel well, Dodge had created two battery contact (- +) access points under the hood of the car, I was thinking about just running the new cables from this location back to the trunk where the new battery location would be.
I'm not sure of what AWG Wire I'd have to use but I'm thinking 00 would be a better choice than 0.
I also realize that the spare tire compartment consumes a significant amount of space in the trunk as well.
This might pose a problem in relocating the battery.
Would you suggest that I include a (plastic) battery box as well? I'm sure i could use a Walmart quality plastic tote that fits the battery & tie down hardware. (Specialized items like that of the battery box is rather expensive here where I live)

@@TonyTheTechnician Wow, I appreciate the timely response. Just a further clarification. When you ran them up from the trunk together but separately, did it matter if the positive and negatives wires were touching? Or, did you plan on keeping the positive and negative cable separate, for example, an inch or two? Thanks

  • @noocann

Please do not use those battery terminals (the brass ones with the two bolts) - those are "temporary" type design (you see these in your local auto parts stores and the "cheap" battery terminal replacements use in an "emergency").
They cannot be securely tightened, especially threaded into soft brass base.
Since you already own a TEMCO tool, why not use battery terminals that use a crimp compression end?
I try and find those hex compression fittings (insert bare wire and tighten compression hex to secure - i.e. old-school Esoteric Streetwires 1/0 ring terminal compression Interlok) that are reusable but cost more - you looks like you're spending good money on this project, so might as well go for the best?
I know the wire for car audio is overpriced, but for terminal hardware, check through the car audio options for better, nicer options.
