    Runs very smoothly for being a 1978 Kenmore washer in love with this machine! Also enjoy watching your videos, very well done!

    Excellent video. One of the underrated agitators of the Kenmore line. Such a graceful design of the agitator. These 70's large capacity Kenmore and Whirlpool washers were HUGE !

    I love the old Kenmore washers! I have a 2000 yr Kenmore model series 80. These machines were made well and long lasting - I still have mine, now 18yrs old and working like a charm. I just hope mine keeps working, I only paid $299.00 for it brand new.

    Eugene thank you for posting - nothing like these older machines! In my opinion the dual action and the roto swirl washed the best!

    My son just got me a new crappy hotpoint washer that grinds loudly. Wish I had my old 1980s kenmore washer back. It lasted 30 years!

    3 words: Buzz, click, CLUNK! Love it! My dad has an early 70s one of these with a super surgilator. BTW, I sent you a private message on UA-cam, please check when you get a chance.

    I have a Pentaswirl in the garage from 71 in harvest gold and in perfect working order. It has the self dispensing bleach and softner dispensers. Once I get it posted I will put link in the comments!!!

    Any washing machine manufactured after 2010 (with the hundreds of confusing idiot buttons) will only last you but a few years. There are tons of videos of washers from the 1970's still working. That has to tell you something. I am glad I just bought a 1999 Kenmore washer. I LOVE it.

    What a beautiful machine, I love how it makes that kind of buzzing sound when it agitates, very soothing. Was the original motor non functioning or was it acting funny? Just wondered why the owners replaced this machine.

    I’m going to buy a new washer within the next six months or so. Looking for an old school bare bones top loader. I’m a single guy who only does two or three loads a week. Thinking about the Amana with the dual action agitator. Could you do a test with a full load of dirty laundry?

    Cast Iron Transmission. I had a 1980 heavy duty kenmoore with the racing flags. Never should have got rid of it 30 years later. Work horse. Change the belt once...The Trans went in 2010. Should have fixed it. Not one bit of rust..Cleaned cloths like nobodies business. 1978 a simpler time. We still made good products..Bottled water was not a fad yet either. NORE was hug a tree and it all has to be green crap!

  • @schip624
    @schip624 6 років тому

    Eugene I have a request, can you do an overload test on this Kenmore? I know you're not supposed to overload any machine, but it's a nice test to see how a machine works under a heavy sized load.

    No woo-woo? I do like the cyclic humming it makes though. And the buzz-click-clunk one this one is really clear, especially when it shifts into the second spin.

    I wonder if you would get better results by adding some sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) along with the detergent. When I started using it a while back, I noticed that shirt stains that I thought were set in forever started disappearing.

    I'd like to see how this test does on a medium water setting in your Kitchenaid. I'll just bet it tops them all even if you can find a last gen real Maytag

    • @deltaboy767
      @deltaboy767 6 років тому

      Bruce Solomon I don't know if it can top a Real Maytag, they we're known for thier cleaning performance, there used to be a saying, it's not really clean unless it's Maytag cleaned.

    I've got a GE Model WWA7050GALWH Serial # TA1 05456G washer. I'm guessing it's from 1989. It came with my house. It's still working but doesn't clean clothes as well as I need it too. I need to get an agitator coupler.
    What would be a good replacement for it? I'm single truck driver who delivers cabinets so I usually get pretty dusty and dirty. But only do about 2 or 3 loads a week. Budget about 800 tops. I live in PA or I'd stop by!

    Guess the Pentaswirl wasn't one of the best out there. I'm very curious as to how a DA agitator would perform.

    • @GarageDoorGuy89
      @GarageDoorGuy89 6 років тому

      i dont know if you saw any videos of them, but the 1986 Kenmore 70 has a dual action agitator with the belt drive transmission. i imagine it would do better with this test because of the taller fins

    • @Sharkie626

      There are already enough videos of the DAA belt drives on UA-cam. There are only a few of the Penta swirl and the videos have less than ideal lighting.

    I'm glad to finally see a full cycle with the pentaswirl. But is it agitating at full speed? It could be that I'm not used to seeing this agitator but it looks a bit slower than normal for a Kenmore.

    • @GarageDoorGuy89
      @GarageDoorGuy89 6 років тому +2

      this is the fast speed agitation on the belt drive transmissions, they have a 180 degree stroke. The direct drives have a 90 degree stroke.

    • @StrongEnough78
      @StrongEnough78 6 років тому +1

      GarageDoorGuy89 Oh I know. I've grown up with belt drive Kenmores and Whirlpools, I'm familiar with them. It just looks a bit slower than normal. I'm more used to the Super Surgilators and other BD agitators as there aren't many full length and high quality penta swirl videos out there.

    • @Channel-cm7yc
      @Channel-cm7yc 6 років тому +1

      StrongEnough78 surgilators were a much more aggressive wash system. Kenmore was trying to reduce fabric wear, that’s the reason for many of these types of agitators. Some were good and well some were not so hot! Full paddle type agitators seem to perform the best but were the hardest of fabrics.

    • @patcola7335

      Luis Alvarez
      As much as I like the dd. I don't think any dd washer is better than a belt drive from a washing performance side. Maybe as good...but certainly not better.

    • @mikemiller5839
      @mikemiller5839 6 років тому

      Luis and an LG front loader would do even better that a direct drive, i should know, ive owned both 😉, besides a direct drive is only good for ripping clothes to shreds, theres a reason they call it the shredmore.

    • @lmal8207
      @lmal8207 6 років тому +1

      mike miller front loaders are the best at washing that’s true, as far as the Dd I’ve never really had it shred anything lol it did great for us

  • @mikemiller5839
    @mikemiller5839 6 років тому

    So you yourself comment on how you can't even tell a difference in the results between the 2018 speed queen and this kenmore with the pentaswirl yet you constantly slam speed queen and say the kenmore is a great machine. Just shows how completely biased you are. Just because a machine is vintage it can do no wrong smh.
