    My mom had this exact washer and dryer set…same color. It. Was incredibly quiet. The wash cycle buttons actually engaged pins in the timer so if you selected whites you got the 14 minute normal cycle that it would stop at as you turned it. The. Heavy duty option meant it would agitate at the higher speed for the entire cycle without going into low speed. It served our family of six kids very well with zero repairs

    My late grandmother had a 1966 Lady Kenmore washer. She used two push buttons all of the time. She used Cottons Linens Colored & Heavy Duty together. The motor burned out in 1976. She replaced the 66 LK with a 1976 Kenmore 70 Series washer with the Penta Swirl Agitator and 26 gallon tub. The 76 KM was still running good when she sold it in 1996. She liked her 76 KM better than her 66 LK. The capacity was much larger and it was much easier to use.

  • @bobavon6048
    @bobavon6048 23 дні тому

    I had one. The chrome door on the right side top is used to put detergent in as water will flows into it and exit into the tub, and the others are for softener and bleach. Water level can be adjusted on the fly during a running load. through the reset function. That agitator was known to be a little aggressive because it has no base. They don't make them like this anymore. Now they try to reinvent the wheel which sucks. The newer models limit your water input which is ass backwards because you need lots of water to wash the clothes. Have fun. Don't overload it with clothes.

    As a child growing up in the late 60's and 70's, my parents always bought used Kenmore washers (with the exception of a GE Filter Flo). I remember one model had the scrubber agitator head like this one but it was black or gray so an older model than this. I'm sure they were well used when my parents bought them but they served our family of 4 well for several years after. I was always fascinated with washers so I spent many a hour sitting and watching them work

    Well hello there Eugene, this is Ray, the blind guy.
    Oh my goodness this washer. It reminds me very nearly of my aunt Audrey‘s 1965 whirlpool that I first experienced as a toddler padding into her utility room at about two years old.
    Oh how I loved the sound of her washing machine. Very nearly like the one that you showed. Do you know what I mean? It’s not boring sound that’s constantly there in the background of the machines functionality. Oh how I loved and enjoyed it!!!
    I sure wish you would feature many more of those, that is, if you can get them.
    By the way, have you given any thought to the return of the “your agitating me “T-shirts?

    Eugene, the buttons and timer are operated by selecting a cycle and options, pulling the timer out, turning until it locks at the proper starting position and pushing it in (which then releases the lock so it can advance through the cycle). Some buttons are options that are used in combination with a cycle. Custom Care switches agitation to the Extra Slow third motor speed. Selective Dialing releases all the cycle buttons and the lock mechanism so the timer can be freely turned 360° to any position.
    Heavy Duty ... I believe agitation reduces to Slow speed toward the end of the Normal (and maybe Perm Press) wash period due to the aggressiveness of the Roto Flex agitator. Heavy Duty has agitation stay at High speed for the duration.
    The detergent dispenser is primarily for the two Pre-Wash cycle choices (which runs a 4-min prewash, drain, spin, then proceeds into the Normal cycle). Put detergent into the tub for the prewash, into the dispenser for the main wash. It can also be used for the main wash detergent when Pre-Wash isn't run. The dispenser flushes for only the first increment or two of the wash period so it won't work if a load is started manually (via Selective Dialing) for a shorter wash period.
    I see a Suds position on the timer, so this is a Suds Saver model (or was originally, if the mechanism no longer works or has been removed).
