Here is an 1974 Kenmore 70 Series Large Capacity washer. It has the Penta Swirl Agitator and 26 gallon tub. The 50HZ pulley really kicks up the performance! Laundry gets really clean with the increased agitation speed and comes out almost dry with the increased spin speed!
In the washing machine world, old school cannot, and will not be denied
just cant beat a vintage washer!
You got it! =)
That’s right
Well nowadays they don’t use a belt
@@mifthasadik8703
They still do. But they suck
@@mifthasadik8703 they still do
The agitation speed of a direct drive with the 180* sweep of the belt drive along with its inherent smoothness. Imagine if they’d made these all along. There would have been no other manufacturers.
True. They could have kept building the belt drive instead of retiring it for the direct drive. That's not to say the direct drive was a bad machine. My mom had hers for 11 years and not one single problem. Now her Maytag Atlantis, that one was fixed 4 times in 10 years.
OLD WASHERS ROLE!!!
That's all these penta swirls needed was a little more oomph. Turnover is great. That penta swirl has to be one of the most graceful looking agitators ever made. Huge agitator base like the old Norge washers.
pat cola are these better than the traditional agitators on speed queens??
I love the old Norge. They don’t wash clothes as much as they bitchslap the dirt out of them
Finally a Penta Swirl that can roll over a full load.
Six new Levi's jeans or bib coveralls might be interesting as well. The suspension handled the higher spin speed pretty well. I have an amped up '65 LK that can really get some heavy and loud cabinet vibrations going.
Eugene. How would this have performed without the increased agitator speed ? This is definitely one of the most graceful looking agitators of any manufacturer. Lots of style.
Amazing I love the old appliances they kick ass considering how the way prices are made today
Pretty cool with the faster agitation and spin. Always thought the penta swirl was such a graceful looking agitator.
This reminds me of the VMW lineup on the short strokes. The VMW took a page out of the older belt drive's book with the hanging suspension. Only real difference is the snubber spring I believe.
@@DylBuilder1 The vmw is a result (albeit cheapened) of the combo of both BD and DD platforms (so I've heard). I like the agitation of the vmw machines . Especially the "commercial" versions.
What an amazing job this did considering that they were heavy weight dickie's... You were right Eugene, you could of easily fit more pairs in!!! Nothing like those older Kenmore's to get the job done!!! Great video guy's!!!
I would imagine this larger pulley puts alot of added stress to the other components.
Tharrrrrr show goes, love that screen spin spray
They Actually Need To Bring These Back
The Soak Selector only comes into play when the Presoak (or Prewash) cycles are used. Setting it to Soak & Wash and starting at the Presoak cycle (or Prewash), the machine will run the soak, prewash, and proceed into the Normal cycle. Selecting Soak Only, it stops at end of the prewash.
Selecting Soak & Wash and Second Rinse, it'll do four water changes (Soak/Prewash, drain/spin, Normal wash, drain/spin, rinse, drain/spin, second rinse, drain/spin).
Eugene thanks for posting their is nothing like a vintage machine!
Gee i wish i had thought of this back in the 80s. Id love to see the discharge hose drain out and if it had that waterfall lint filter. That would've been awesome to see that too.
That is one freaking amazing Kenmore Washer... Love the vintage washers.. That beef up really made a difference..
Awesome wash action I always loved the belt driven models. I actually like them better than the direct drive replacements, there much smoother running. I would think that after a couple of loads with this larger pulley the transmission and motor will certainly get hotter and shorten there lifespan.
I totally agree. 💯 percent.
Agitation speed of a GE Filter Flo! :)
Yes
Yes, however, the GE Filter Flo only does a 90 degree rotation whereas this Kenmore is doing a 180 degree rotation. I would definitely love to have this machine. I used to have one that was avocado green with the penta-swirl agitator and the gold cap on top of the agitator.
I love this machine
It actually agitates like a old Westinghouse/White-Westinghouse washer.
@@flattenme really? Thought it was like the préforma maytags with the 120 degree rotation
Next time besides the rpm sensor, bring a watt meter to see if the machine is using more power from the pulleys
Another amazing washing machine. So sad current models are not as good as these. I bet if one had deep pockets with great marketing one could have a business doing full refurbish and even modifications to improve these machines even more and resale them for a good profit.
Awesome washer! That's a machine for when your clothes are REALLY dirty! Personally I think it's a cool idea but don't like the extra stress it puts on the drivetrain that wasn't designed for that high of speeds.
In order to reduce the stress off the transmission and motor, the Dual Action Agitator should be used. The slots under the DDA fins reduce drag putting less stress on the transmission and motor.
The one benefit I can see is that the spin will of course be more effective with higher speed. It spins more like the direct drives. I'd be leery of leaving the machine to run like this for any length of time. If it only increased the spin speed, I wouldn't worry about it.
Top load GREATNESS!!!!
You cant beat a old school washer period even thia one imagine what would happen if they did this to a norge oh my
Agitation on this kennmore is amazing. These older machines were work horses. They run circles around any modern machine today!
What great spon balance
I liked the pentaswirl. The pulley mod was always fun.. lol lol
Insane! I like it!
That thing is a BEAST! I love it!
WOW! Love it!
That's the only time I've seen a PentaSwirl agitator get the job done.
Ur lying
Wow
This is awesome!!!
That's an 18lb capacity machine. It should be able to take more than 6 pants. I can get 8 pairs of jeans in my Fisher & Paykel agitator toploader.
Wow! Wasn't that the same agitation speed of the last Maytag Atlantis?
My mother had this Washer. It was awesome. My parents were all about Kenmore. Who manufactured this washer? Whirlpool or Maytag? It did malfunction and drain, fill, wash at the same time.
All Kenmore washers of the belt drive and direct drive design were all Whirlpool built.
It looks like it has no trouble operating a bit faster. You cheated on us, whirlpool!
WOW !!! BD WP/Kens usually have a pretty lame spin... what is the RPM on that with the 50 hz. pulley ? That machine Rocks !!! Just re watched and heard the 700 RPM. WOW.
Almost a Westinghouse agitation lol
I like it
To be honest i dont like kenmore whirlpool roper kitchenaid estate etc but this i dig
Changing the size of the motor pulley does that affect the motor or the gearbox
It's like a souped up race car lol
How many revolutions per minute does it centrifuge with that pulley change?
That sounds like a lawn mower mix with blower
This is supposed to be one of the Quiet Pak Models
If you still have this washer ill buy from you.
You're going to break the machine.
Want one
Eugene, great video. Is this your washer? I'm looking for one in the 70's such as this.
It has a baby woo woo sound.
Does the 50 Hz pulley still use the 1/4 in. V belt?
So you basically said that the pulley was replaced on the motor
You said a larger pulley for the turbocharge but it is actually the smaller pulley
❤
Do you have any vintage washers in good condition that you would like to sell? I’d be interested.
Cómo puedo encontrar esa polea en Amazon?
Need to test amp draw of the motor with new wrong size pulley.
Looooooove it......
What is the motor amp draw compared with label and original pulley?
700 rpm for the spin? Not unimatic territory, then
I would not turbocharge my washe cuz it tripped my breaker
Old washer: now your clothes will get washer even better!
Modern washer: umm human slave i cant do your clothes because you didn't fix me right. now error code and now you should get an older washer and not use me im easily disposable!
Why Is It So Noisy?. That Model Is Supposed To The Quiet- Pak Sound
0.75 speed normal speed. 0.5 delicate speed and 0.25 handwash speed
Does Bob have a channe
Elizabeth nah
This agitates like a GE filter flo
Not really
@@Thedonsmoney25823 yes it does, but this agitation is not as aggressive as the filter flo
What year is this washer? 68/69?
mid 1970s
1974 or 1975
It's A 74
Can really hear the wig wag
lol
But still great agitation
Hey everybody im with my friend Bob he says friends we are not friends I don't even like you ! 😑
😾Okay girl listen up you want that 20 bucks or not ?
ih Besties 😒
I'm sorry man but I don't think that Bob likes you that much he doesn't sound like it 😕
I wish if you could show the internals of the washing machine but I'm pretty sure that Bob won't allow that so maybe you should give him more money girl don't be cheap okay and maybe a bottle of beer well help to

Junk
H.E. washers are junk!
Will The Trill Not necessarily. The new ones by Miele most certainly are not, not are the Bosch ones. You can find good LG machines too. The latter’s problem is finding repair technicians. You can do some of that yourself, though.
The guy in the back ground who put the pulley on .... why are you so RUDE??? Twice,,,,,,,have some comman courtesy .
Do you have any vintage washers in good condition that you would like to sell? I’d be interested.
