@philforest4747: Today only the Speed Queen TC 5000 SERIES WASHERS start spinning full of water. The rest of the Washers made today are all doing neutral drains. The front loaders do tumble draining.
@philforest4747: The spinning starting full of water reminds me of the older MAYTAGS,GEs, FRIDGIDARES, SPEED QUEENs, and even KELVINATORS, EASY, and PHILCO-BENDIX TOP LOADERS. Also the HAMILTON WASHERS.
@@albertcarello619I think only the Kenmore machine s and whirlpool machines were the only machines that would drain the water out before they go into the spin cycle 😅
I absolutely love this. When I was in my teens, we had a 1967 "Hotpoint 16" with a fountain filter. It was similar to this machine. However, there was no tub brake. The tub just coasted to a stop at the end of a spin. It featured "Programmed Multi Cycle" which selected wash temperature and agitate / spin speeds. There was a separate control for warm or cold rinse. The fill selector had settings for small, medium, or large. However as with solid tub machines, the fill was timed. There was a button called "Water Saver" that you could press at any time during the fill to start agitation and stop the tub from filling further. We had very high water pressure, so the medium setting actually gave us a full tub. We used the water saver button frequently. It had a combination bleach and softener dispenser located under the lid just in back of the water fill spout. You would press a button to empty water from both sides of the dispenser. Then you would add bleach on the left and softener on the right. At the appropriate time, the machine would flush water into the dispenser and release the product into the tub. We had this washer from the fall of 1967 to the spring of 1975. It's matching dryer failed, so my parents opted to replaced both with Kenmore. But out of the 6 machines my parents had over the years, the Hotpoint was my favorite,
@lynx93tk: I certainly would have kept this washer right up to the end of it's life cycle. You should have hung on to this washer. Just should have replaced the dryer with let's say a GE or SEARS dryer.
@@albertcarello619 I would have kept it too, but at age 21, had no say in the matter. My mother wanted a matched set, so a matched set she got. They had the 1975 Kenmore set until early 1989, when I was told that the dryer burned up (smoked or actually caught fire, I will never know). The 1975 washer was still fine. So the 1975 set was replaced with a 1989 Kenmore set with a direct drive washer (70 Series).
