I'm the driver of the blue truck. I didn't know someone was there!! I was honked by multiple people so I checked if my straps were on tight and it looked fine, it wasn't until someone in a white van that consistently told me to stop with hand signals that made me pull over and figure out what was going on. The person tried to jump in my car luckily I locked the doors when I saw him on my mirrors.

0:28 This could be a few different things.. Either a driver who has terrible trip management, an asshole, or an elderly person who has no awareness of their surroundings...
1:10 Seems like some sort of medical emergency, like Dr Jack Daniels.
1:35 It's why I always do no more than 20km/h in an alley. It's kinda the law where I live..
1:59 Well, that there is a homeless person so they kinda live by their own rules. Doesn't help that there are super bright headlights in oncoming traffic, washing out the jaywalker.
4:04 No FKs given. They're obviously part of the #MeFirst movement.
    4:19 Ah, another #MeFirst supporter.
4:32 Question is, if you're a cop, which car are you chasing down? lol. At least two choices...
    4:57 Probably a free ride..
6:58 There's a reason they set lower speed limits in construction zones.
8:02 Yeah! FK the solid white lines! A-NARCHY! A-NARCHY! #MeFirst
8:28 Ok, so for those reading this, if you get into a situation where you are definitely about to miss your turn, SUCK. IT. UP. Keep driving and find a way to safely turn around. It's not our problem that you have non-existent trip management skills.
8:34 Again with the #MeFirst guys. No matter where you live, there's always some ass clown who thinks they're more important than everyone around them.
8:54 It makes me struggle to respect street bikes. But these guys are the ones who make a bad name for the rest of them. Hopefully they get caught and are forced to ride a pedal bike for the next year or two.
9:16 What this tells me about that driver is that they are willing to cut as many corners as possible to drive on the road. They're shaving off mere seconds from their trip. Idiots.

1:15 - what is it with Brunette ave interchange and sketchy people flirting with death?
Speaking of which, 1:50 playing Frogger for real also.
And 2:25, Asian lady wants to play too (Knight Street too? Sheesh.)
4:00, driver in white SUV should be slapped in the mouth if he thought anyone else was at fault for that.
    4:15 typical pickup guy
7:35 and 8:00 I have seen people do that before and cause a huge accident. They try to get from the Grandview HOV highway on-ramp to the Willingdon exit, cutting almost diagonally across the highway. (In what I saw, a car got slammed by a garbage truck in the right lane.)
The BC Highways guys need to put some longer divider or cones up on that HOV for another 100 m, so drivers cannot even attempt it.
8:30, another typical pickup guy. They should pay an extra insurance premium for their tendency to be pushy a-holes.

The problem of J-walk is our road are designed so pedestrian won't feel comfortable walking besides it or cross it. J-walk was created so driver feel more comfortable driving a it is less interruption. Our dedicated traffic crossing are so far from each other that driving don't feel anything wrong, walking is another story entirely. essentially, by design we force people to drive rather than other ways around.

"you gotta wait for traffic to stop before you turn left" sure, but more importantly, you have to stop for yellows when cars are turning left. Those accidents are usually the car going straight's fault, because a car in the intersection HAS to turn, the driver going straight can go straight or stop. So the right of way in those situations goes to the turning car. Running late yellows with left turning cars is one of the dumbest things to do as a driver. Regardless, yes you should wait forr these assholes before making your turn

Given that the car stopped in time, the jaywalker is 100% at fault. Otherwise you may take alertness/attentiveness into consideration, but there was enough of both to avoid a collision.
In the case of the cyclist... I see no rear lights at all. Speaking as a Dutchman (and so with plenty of experience in sharing the road with cyclists), it's damn hard to see cyclists without a rear light. Your own vision can be drowned out by various factors, so a slender vehicle without a bright red light can be hard to see. The speed differences don't help either, it makes things suddenly appear.

Not to give that driver a pass or an excuse for running a red (no parcel is worth running a red light to deliver), but as a courier from another courier company, I get a lot of negative feedback from Amazon drivers I talk to while on my delivery route. I wish there was something that could be done to improve working conditions for Amazon drivers. If their working conditions improve, then, in theory, their reputation improves and safety for other drivers on the road improves.

I think law enforcement in general, in Canada, is very lax all around versus America or most countries even. I drive 400km a day with Uber and always go ~65 or 70 in 50 zones, I usually go 120-130 on the hwy which is 100. I have never even been pulled over for a driving infraction once in my life, been driving heavily for 18 years. It's all about knowing when you can speed and wwhen you can't. Certain roads higher speed is more tolerated, like commuter roads, wide roads, rural roads.. Then the time of day, like at 3 a.m. I get away with speeding quite a lot. Also the amount of pedestrians, if its near a school or school ending time like 3:30... Context is important for determining how fast you can go, is what I'm trying to say

    • @rs11200

I ride a motorbike, and I REALLY hate riders like the one at 8:53... very illegal and not to mention STUPID! Lane splitting in BC is not allowed, and this was not following the rules even if it had been (and thus would still have been illegal.) It makes my blood boil because these show offs give all the rest of us a bad reputation and endanger other vehicles as well! Grrrr!

    • @neildrd
      @neildrd 8 місяців тому +1

Ya, hate that behavior as well. However I lived in Australia for a while a long time ago and, at the time (prob. still) lane splitting was legal. I commuted 26k each way across Sydney on my MC each day and, wow, it sure made a difference on my commute time vs. what it would've been in a 4 wheel vehicle. I only applied it at lights - ie. cautiously rode between stopped cars to front of queue and then took off when light turned green. When I returned here I really missed it but realized it would never work here as no one is used to it.

So tired of seeing supposedly "professional" drivers do so much cr*p! There's no reason *all* commercial vehicles shouldn't be required to carry "black boxes" recording 360 video and GPS speed & location that is uploaded to ICBC frequently to reconcile against speed zones, light signal timings etc. for automatic enforcement. It could ID instances of speeding; not stopping at stop signs; not stopping on right turns on red; following too close (when 2 commercial vehicles travelling in a row) etc. Could certainly help in crash investigations as well. For the worst offenders the video could be subject to random spot check audit (AI or, eg. overseas call centre syle to keep costs down). The tech to do this has been around for years. No political will. Political lip service to safety. Driver behavior would improve dramatically as well as much revenue generated that could be put towards infrastructure and lowering the cost of insurance for the safe, low risk drivers. I specifically didn't say put towards "driver training" as I believe human nature is such that there's a % of the pop. that no amount of training would make an appreciable difference. Ok, maybe "training" of the type used in A Clockwork Orange would work on those types, but not normal training. Perhaps some of the revenue could go towards funding mandatory annual retesting of the high offending % (or they could be required to pay for it themselves).

If U-turns are illegal at controlled intersections, why does the vehicle's navigation suggest you do it anyway?

    • @JunkBondTrader

because most cities U turns are legal. Google nav, Waze, etc, doesn't take into account Vancouver's by-law. Or is it province wide? But the real law is no U-turns are allowed at all, unless there is a sign saying they are permitted. I drive with Uber and it's always telling me to take illegal u turns lol.

    • @vancouversworstdrivers
      @vancouversworstdrivers  9 місяців тому

Probably because Google is based in the US and is not up to date with our laws. And if you do it at a no U-turn sign they can also fine you for not following traffic signs so it's a double fine

Listen two hands on the wheel isn't the problem it's your confidence. Drive better and vigilant not slow and in tge way all scared of the cars around you. You are part of the problem doing that.
    Just drive.
I'm in Victoria it's just as bad over on the island... I promise driving with that two hand scared bushit is what causes accidents and ypi not having the confidence in your driving abilities is the problem your putting on us guys that can and do drive normal.
I'm not saying drive like an asshole. I'm saying timid drivers are horrible and you drive in the left lane and not let people by thinking your doing the limit so you are OK to block the flow of traffic.
Just get to be a better driver not get more scared and hover over that brake

01:48 I think it's the drivers fault to a degree. You shouldn't J-walk recklessly of course, but that pedestrian should have easily been visible from much further away. The glare in the camera makes him hard to see, but in real life that guy would have stuck out like a sore thumb from hundreds of meters away. No matter what pedestrians do, short of jumping infront of your car, you have to watch out for them. They were wearing black, but also its dusk, there are street lights, and headlights, and they have a big grey cart. Slamming on the brakes is a result of either not paying attention or poor eyesight.

nah, cyclists are like put on a pedestal when it comes to traffic laws. She just ran right into him. A driver paying attention would be able to spot them sooner regarless of lights, it wasn't that dark out. We could see the cyclist from many car lengths back, rendered through a shitty dash cam, I'm sure the lady driving right in front of the cyclist, using human eyeballs, would have.. Should have... seen that biker well in advance if she was paying attention.
