Cyclist at 3:06 is my friend unfortunately, I'd like to apologise to the driver of the grey or black Corolla who had to brake really hard in the wet on that day. Thanks for not hitting him, I'm very grateful for Charly's quick response time.
Daniel Lin get him to apologize on here not you
@@jinh357 he just did apparently
What a idiot friend
I used to go biking. So many idiot drivers almost killing me. So I decided to be on the sidewalk same result unfortunately. Just so many bad drivers. There should be an open thing at icbc to share video of the bad drivers and get their license taken or at least have to re take a refresher course on driving.
@@agreat4069 In this clip no drivers are at fault though, it was all the cyclist
James at 5:42 should stop camping in the passing lane while not passing👀🤷♂️
Always a good day when Vancouver’ Worst Drivers uploads 😊
Thanks 😁
Here in Ontario Canada you have to wait till the pedestrian has cleared the sidewalk before you can make your turn. Does anyone follow this rule NOPE but you will get docked for it when doing your driving tests. Also blocking a intersection is also against our driving tests code that also means sidewalks where your exiting from a store.
I think the confusion for people from Ontario driving in Vancouver is when the red light turns to flashing green in Ontario it means you have an advanced green for making a left hand turn. Whereas here in Vancouver it means you have a stop sign at the intersection with traffic lights. Not a common thing to find in Ontario. I know my parents were very confused when they came here for the first time to visit. However generally when we have an left turn lane theres a green arrow and it is very obvious. I like Vancouver's system better.
seen that flipped car too.... funny how 20 minutes of rain makes half of Vancouver forget how to drive lol
I know!
Congrats on your 50th episode!
Being originally form Toronto, now in Vancouver, you cannot turn left on a green in front of someone proceeding straight through the intersection.
Interesting thanks for letting me know
you can if you're fast enough (heavy eye rolling implied)
confirmed... here's a link to the BC Highways Act... FYI... www.bclaws.ca/civix/document/id/consol2/consol2/96188_01
6:10 looks like a problem with no proper access to store for pallet from the road. Terrible for the driver and store owner not finding an alternative. I worked at a grocery store for 8 years and we had tricky situations with certain things getting delivered. Especially over packed pallets
Driving in this city makes me sad... I literally want to cry
ICBC cries too haha
5:24 at least the guy used the turn signal LOL
In Ontario if the traffic in both directions has a green light, through traffic has right of way over oncoming traffic turning left. Cars turning left can still advance into the intersection, but they aren't supposed to begin their turn until through traffic coming the other way has cleared. The only time you can turn left in front of oncoming traffic is if you have an advanced green, which is indicated by a green arrow, a flashing green light, or a flashing green arrow. In these cases oncoming traffic has a red light.
In bc a flashing green light means the pedestrian crossing has the right of way. Everyone from Ontario, moving to bc is quizzed on this to get their license. So if you’re at a red light and it turns to flashing green in Ontario it’s an advanced left turn. In BC it means a pedestrian has triggered the light change, don’t turn left until pedestrian is clear, the opposing lanes see a green light and therefore are through traffic. An uneducated driver from Ontario could kill a crossing pedestrian or be T-boned. It’s not a good formula
"Captain cutoff" Gets me everytime haha
I disagree on that viaduct intersection because the bike lanes are pretty great for us 70% of *responsible* cyclists. But I’m definitely considering a go pro after some of the morons I encounter. Nearly got killed on the busy and well-marked Ontario bikeway by an Amazon driver blowing through his stop sign. He said he came to a complete stop but I had about 1.5 m between his front left panel and when he “stopped” his back axle was a bit after the stop line.
Ya I wear a GoPro whenever I can. I barely ride at all yet it seems everytime I do I almost get hit. If you're commuting and there's a hit and run or if a driver disputes it a GoPro can really help you out.
how are you shocked about anythiing in richmond?
Good point lol
2:15 Phillips & Marine is right close to where the new ICBC Test center is. Lots of nervous drivers.
Jason's clip:
1:14: You are mistaken because that is clearly a bike, maybe you should get your eyes checked.
Hahahahahahaha
2:08... marine drive in west van.. the low road.... many stupids happen there. had an oncoming on a blind corner the other day, no cam as i was in my car and i had repurposed the cam for a bike event and not remounted it. 3:37.. oncoming leftie is in the wrong, completely... moving without clear sightline and clear path. 7:23... illegal in BC, the through vehicle has the right of way, according to the highways act.
A quick question: so when a cyclist is waiting at a pedestrian cross walk (the no light one) should you yield to the cyclist?
The only time a cyclist is allowed to ride across a crosswalk legally is if there are elephant feet. www.cnv.org/city-services/streets-and-transportation/look-think-go/elephant-s-feet
If the cyclist has dismounted, they are treated like a pedestrian and you must stop to let them cross. My understanding, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, if they are still mounted there is no obligation because they are considered part of the motor vehicle act.
I cycle and have zero expectation for cars to stop when I'm on my bike. In fact it makes things more confusing when they do because I plan crossings like I'm a moving vehicle, not a pedestrian.
I never see anyone getting off their bikes. They just fly on through and make everyone else stop for them.
7:58 The car ahead has its left turn signal on and an empty lane beside it when it starts to change lanes. Had they collided the car behind would have been at fault. That said, it's not a bad idea to wait half a second after signalling before you change lanes in case someone does this. Defensive driving is about anticipating and preventing potentially dangerous situations.
The wrong side of the road transit driver is the guy who downvoted the video.
8:01 I say the white car is at fault because he did made 2 lane changes at once without waiting in between
Also the grey car had their signals on while the white car didn't use signals until already in the lane
Also, tailgating. The reason that's illegal: reduces margin for error.
If you're going to time stamp you should do it from the start of the scene and not the end of it.
good video. but it seems weird that for the giveaway, you're only giving dash cams to people who... already have dash cams. lol
Good point...its a contest that Blackboxmycar is running through this channel. Credit can always be used to upgrade your dashcam, get accessories, or get another dashcam as a gift for someone
@8:01 Defiantly the Volvo as he didn't signal when changing lanes the second time. Plus thankfully the car in front indicated prior and played it off cooly.
Gonna give u taste of Valley driving my guy
1:37 i no like this road. it means ive gone the wrong way Again and have to drive around xD
Vancouver is notorious for people running red lights. IDK why. I've lived in Calgary 3 years now and have not seen as much red light runners here as i've see in this video alone.
did i just see a guy with his/her class 2 license driving the wrong way...what!
@5:58 buetiful e46 M3... a shame the tire exploded.
I need a dashcam so bad lol too many bad drivers
I paid for the whole speedometer, I'm going to use the whole speedometer
Guess I gotta get a dashcam for these giveaways. Off topic, narrator of these videos has an interesting accent.
Lol how so? I'm as white as they come 😅
Vancouver's Worst Drivers Dashcam I would have guessed at least part Asian. Very proper pronunciations, lack some of the occasionally lazy contractions and slangs of native English speakers.
In the US you see a lot of stupid driving.
So many impatient red runners lol captain cut off ..good name
I know right
Was gonna say North Van doesnt get enough exposure then I watch this video lol
TBH North Shore drivers are some of the most arrogant and reckless drivers in the entire country
Not sure if you've seen my other videos but I agree with you! I grew up on the North Shore and IMO they are the worst drivers in the Lower Mainland
Poor old 3 series coupe.
I love these videos, the commentary is even better! Too many shitty drivers in Vancouver though.
Thanks!
7:25 No you can't do that in Ontario. People going straight have right of way. In a clip in one of my videos I had someone do this and she seemed to be totally confused about why I was blasting her with my horn.
I live in Ontario (Ottawa) and as far as I know you’re not allowed to cut off traffic going straight when you are on the opposite side of the road turning left in an intersection. If you cause an accident doing that you are 100% at fault. Clip is 7:22. There are some people in Ottawa who do it but it’s a huge risk they are taking. Ottawa has lousy drivers. Everyone is in a big hurry to get home to watch Scooby Do.
😅
It's not legal for a driver to make a left hand turn when they don't have the right away. But in Ontario flashing green light means advanced green light. That's where the confusion comes from
3:40 Adian needed to just turn right. But I noticed that in Vancouver if you can avoid but its not your fault you decide to hit cuz $
This was my accident 😔 I was going 50 when I saw him so that wouldn’t have been possible. I’d have hit the car on my right. The dashcam has a wide angle so I couldn’t see as much as the video shows. I definitely did NOT want to get into that accident, my car was totalled and I’m now screwed for transportation.
I know this is nitpicky, but it bugs me every time somebody uses the word "cement" when they are referring to concrete. Cement is the "glue" which holds concrete together.
By the way, I was guilty of this until my first semester of Civil Engineering 30 years ago. One instructor quickly corrected us of this error.
7:25 not legal in Ontario either
#captaincutoff 😂👌
This is the easiest job on UA-cam
Turning left when the light turns green is a Quebec thing... not Ontario.
No way!!! A bus driver who drove the wrong way. I know a bus driver right now who drives high on heroin.
eekkk
I’m just glad my parents aren’t like this
Sorry, at 8:17, can someone explain? Thanks!
Someone parked right in the middle of the lanes leaving the lot
@@vancouversworstdrivers Ohhh okay, thank you!
If mapleleafrider rear-ended that guy , you think he'll be at fault despite of the double-yellow line?
Probably not with the dashcam footage
no he wouldn't with the dash cam. and the guy would get multiple tickets on top of increased insurance premiums...with the metal bumper i wouldn't even try to brake lol. idiots should pe punished
I was livid watching that. There was zero reason for risking a life.
Richmond drivers ☠️
just wow
Seriously after about 1 minute an ad?.
UA-cam places ads randomly where they think there's breaks in the videos
That volvo didn't use its signals, just gunned it, how could the person in front of him on the highway know his intentions
The first clip, it looks like he was maybe just trying to help the car broken down?
At clip 7:58 I think the white car is at fault because he is tailgating, switching lanes with no signal which confuses other drivers and is very rude, he skipped over two lanes very quickly. The other guy proceeded to change lanes with a signal and he likely wasn’t anticipating the white car to skip over 2 lanes like that so I fully blame the white car as he’s a lousy driver and surely will cause an accident soon.
100% illegal in Ontario and results in a failure to yield ticket.
Interesting
7:58 Volvo completely at fault. Making 2 lane changes simultaneously while not indicating.
Anonymous guy honking like crazy at the Mazda needs to chill. So it's a questionable merge/cutoff. Big deal. Nothing unsafe if you just chill, drive defensively, anticipate other drivers, and control your emotions. One day someone's gonna punch him out.
Nothing is unsafe if you chill and drive defensively? that’s utterly ridiculous
