Very helpful! I never figured out the drop pass.
great job !
+giannetti samuel thanks!!
Hey Brianstormed. Help. I made my way up to Div 5 thought I was finally getting the hang of it and then BOOM the losses started happening and now in Div 8. I don't think I am doing anything differently now then before; but I am now struggling to generate any offence. Do you have any advice on where I should go? My team seems out of rhythm if that makes any sense. Usually I am edging my opponents on face-offs, shots, attack time and passing percentage...not that, that matters. Thanks for any advice.
Oh ty, now I can pass. First pass in 3months
I've been using long flip recently. Never did before. It's decent for attacking plays. Can catch the other guy off guard and has to turn where my dude is burning for the corner. I've also been saucing a lot more. Causes havoc when you fire it cross crease.
Johnny Utah yeah those long flips are very strong, I couldn't find a clip of me doing it recently so I just went with the opponent's flip for a similar effect. Saucers are saucey too 😎
Hey hey, awesome tutorials! They all helped a newcomer quite a lot!
Mind doing one, or suggesting one about puck control/breakout plays/skating with puck/when to pass/general mechanics?
Cant find nothing good about those subjects.
Hmm I had some videos last year that touched upon these subjects a bit, you are free to look those up in the meantime. I don't know if I can really make a 5+ min video on a lot of this stuff.
BUT, I can try to help with text!
Puck Control: The secret to puck control is always having your body between the puck and the opposing player so that they can't poke check you as easily. That means, using the right stick around 4/8 o clock (depending on the handedness of the player) so that the puck is "behind you". This way, you only need to worry about avoiding hits.
Breakouts I talk about in multiple videos, its important to have strategies set up so your players are ready to go. Long and quick stretch passes will help enter the Ozone with minimum resistance, though if the opponent is applying a heavy forecheck you may need to make a few short supporting passes. Clearing the puck is a great breakout play too. While in the Ozone, its all about cutting to the middle for a good shot in the slot or a one timer if available. A few passes between your players so that your opponent doesn't know what you'll do and you are good.
Skating with the puck, I like to hustle..a lot. That left stick gets jammed in quite a bit. But the second I feel some resistance, I let go of it and glide in however I'd like, especially using the right stick to control the puck.
Passing is tricky. I tend to hold onto the puck for as long as possible with my player until it feels like my opponent corners me and can take it away from me, then I pass it to someone who doesn't have that same resistance.
First of all, thanks for replying! Im suprised! Secondly, thanks for the good tips, its highly appreciated. Last NHL i played was quite a long time ago, 07 or so, and the game changed significantly since then, its embarassing that I havent played it for so long.
You got the most awesome and helpful content for NHL games, by far.
Thanks dude, appreciate it! Always happy to help :)
Ivor Nagy-Hevesi I have a good one go to Canada trading camp or what ever it's called go to practice then I teachs you a lot
Every tips videos you give us, prove that there are *secret xploits* in the game! Could you elaborate on the Line Change Exploit you mentioned?
Shawn Damage while it doesn't seem to be as effective this year, in previous NHLs you could skate the puck behind your net and perform a manual line change causing your players to go toward the benches. You'd then cancel the line change before your players switch by going back to the same line and pass the puck out practically guaranteeing you a breakaway every time because the opposing ais don't follow players going for a line change
The last NHL game I got before NHL 18 was NHL 15, and in NHL 15, passing and switching players seems much better, in NHL 18 it changes to a player but never the one I want. And for some reason, players trip so easily
Yeah the player switching and passing are different between those games. I think they tweak the algorithm every year or two to try to make it better but in some cases they screw it up more. Remember that you can hold the player switch button to get the last man back which can help quite a bit! As for players tripping up so easily, make sure you are a good distance away from the person before you go for a poke check. The biggest part of poke checking successfully is positioning and timing!
When are you doing December team build
I know you’re a busy man.i was hoping you could help me out tho. I’m really struggling hard this year. I find when passing , as soon as I set up to aim one T or if I’m aiming the recipient in direction to move when he gets the pass, the pass goes in the direction I’m aiming for the one T or wish to go as soon as player receives pass. As if theses a serious lag. It happens all the time . Do you have any suggestions my friend?
It does seem like a lag issue if you are trying to aim the one timer but end up passing there instead. If its online, I'd do a latency test to make sure your ping isn't too high or having any packet loss and get a wired connection. If its offline then try going wired on your controller or switching to another screen (like a monitor). If all else fails, try doing the opposite where you don't try to hit the one timer but instead pass it and hold onto it and see how long it takes for your players to react when you pass it around, and then mimic something similar when going for one timers
I randomly pass the puck forward sometimes to no one. How do I stop this?
Can you help me? Suddenly when i press r2 the player passes the puck instantly instead of when im releasing the r2 button
Hmm that is weird, I'd check to see if its a controller problem. Try another game like an FPS game with an automatic gun and hold it down. If it only shoots a few times then you'll have to get a new controller. It could be that your controller settings/controller mapping in either the game or on your console are different as well. Is this something that happens all the time or just sometimes?
Hey guys, this may be a stupid question, but how often do you engage vision control? Shooting? Passing? Faceoffs? Etc... On D as well, are you using vision control while poking or stick lifting? Thanks for any replies. Cheers.
+Cory Esson shooting one timers, movement, and d mostly. If you play eashl, vision control with one timers is essential because it causes your player to wind up the shot as you receive a pass. Vision control is used with movement to help you both turn around and move in reverse to catch your opponent off guard. Finally, I use it all the time on defense to be in front of the puck as long as I know opponent will not burn me by going full speed
Thank you for this video. I have been struggling with a few passing things...when I am behind the net and go to pass to the slot and it passes all the way back to defense, going through my guy in the slot. Same happens when I am breaking out and go to pass to the center and goes all the way to my winger and the pass gets cut off. Your tip about hard pass vs soft pass and it going through the players was a new insight for me but still having difficulty finding this sweet spot and hitting the right guy. Are you finding that your passing assist changed recently or are you still rocking 99?
I'm still rocking 99. But like I said its just so that my passes can make it to any recipient in case the game feels like its not going to give it to anyone. Since you are finding your passes going to a different person, your pass assist might be better when its down a little bit (not too much, maybe try a Doug Gilmour at 93 :b). Similarly, if you are trying to get to the pass in the middle, definitely aim for softer passes..as long as you aren't holding it down all the way you should be good.
How do you get them to pass behind the back like that...is it just positioning based? I can never get those crispy pro looking passes
Sorry im a noob with alot of questions who jus started playing Chel but trying to get better....why is it that sometimes on breakaways ill have a guy wide open an on his strong side ( it happens to me on back or forehand ) il soft pass it to him an he wiffs it...#buzzkill
Wiz UeyBird the passes are due to me stickhandling on my backhand or forehand, making sure the puck is away from my opponent before i pass the puck
Wiz UeyBird it's not a problem, I like to help out others! Make sure you give your player enough time to setup before taking the one timer. Sometimes they may not be positioned well enough so they'll wiff on it. Sometimes your timing might be off and you choose to shoot too late or early. Other times, it's just random misfortune. I'd need to see specific clips to know the exact cause though.
Brianstormed ua-cam.com/video/WdkPFlrVcQ0/v-deo.html
The person receiving the pass is on his offhand, making it difficult to shoot one timers unless they have time to setup. These onetimers used to go through 100% of the time making them very OP, this way they have been nerfed to not be as powerful. Its a normal occurrence.
How do you call for a pass/puck??
RT or R2 depending on the console.
Which camera angle do you use ?
classic

How about a video on the bullshit insider info EA has been giving some people allowing them to make easy coins
I thought about making a video since the drama surrounding that was pretty exciting, but I didn't feel like feeding into it. I do want to let you know, however, that none of the content creators, as far as I know, are given "insider" information on upcoming cards or sets or anything of that nature. If there is anybody like that, then they are the developers themselves who made the game or came up with the idea themselves. If you are referring to the Flashback collectibles in particular, its probably just the fact that they tweaked the pull rates of the collectibles so that the higher OVR cards would be worth more. Content creators already get free packs, they don't need to make coins off the auction house.
Brianstormed Come on now... Tweaking the pull rates wouldn't result in FB collectibles tripling in price over night, and right before a 92 Jagr fb too.... Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if some content creators are selling coins on alts tbh, I know at least one tried to in secret last year.
It wasn't over night though, it was over at least a week long period and who knows how much sooner they could have tweaked it. Prices were at 10k-15k and then went to 20k-30k and then 30k - 50k, according to my excel sheet. They could try to sell coins, but EA would ban them like they have been banning any random person for even a small giveaway. I wouldn't doubt people doing it last year since there weren't any bans as far as I knew, but the mods of r/NHLHUT (also content creators) were given the boot from the program for coin selling.
Faceoffs are not Rock Paper Scissors, it's more like chess
Its RPS with 4 moves and the moves across from each other cancel each other out.
But when it comes to chess, I agree that the thought process is similar
can you tell me the secrets to life
