    I thought I put a conclusion image for the counters, but I appear to have missed it. I'm sorry ;_;
    To summarize:
    Tieup beats Backhand
    Forehand beats Tieup
    Sticklift beats Forehand
    Backhand is FAVORED over Sticklift, but not a perfect counter.
    ----
    Tieup draws with Sticklift
    Forehand draws with Backhand
    Just a few things I wanted to point out:
    I tested the timing window by having one controller take an extra second to do a faceoff move compared to the other one, and the one that was latest still ended up winning the faceoffs normally.
    Outside of the first forehand/backhand experiment, I did each of them at least 10 times. The problem is, sometimes I messed up the timing and did not catch it until I was editing the video. So then I was left with 8 attempts (6 to 2 for instance) and just left it alone, where as other times when it was just a clean sweep I dropped it down to 5 attempts to 0. Hopefully that doesn't make some stats guys upset =b. But the main point isn't the numbers that I used, but rather that winning under certain circumstances is still possible.
    I also did a backhand sticklift and forehand sticklift experiment, as well as a backhand tie up/forehand tieup and found that they were all toss ups. So, one being forehands and the other backhand doesn't make one stronger over the other. You can believe me, but you don't have to, haha.

      Thats bizarre. I tested the "no grip" faceoff thing while doing this and it didn't work for me. When I watch my brother play he never grips it either, and never wins a faceoff, which causes me to always tell him to grip it LOL. Do you have any video proof of this, perhaps? It'll just help me see it better to experiment.

      As far as the counters go:

    I've found that the best counter to the forehand stick lift is moving a winger towards the puck right after faceoff. Sometimes you can get to the puck before the team that won the faceoff has.

    • @Brianstormed
      @Brianstormed  6 років тому

      Ah yeah I forgot to put that in the video, there was already quite a bit of different stuff in there haha. Doing that is primarily an EASHL thing though. Outside of that you'll mostly try to poke the puck before the opponent can make a move.

    Great video! I still try to learn stuff for 17 but I got a bit confused this time. Your previous video said that backhand/forehand does not matter in 17 but in this video you point out that backhand always won against forehand in 17. Could you explain one more time all the combinations for 17 please? It would really help me! Thank you and great work! I love these experiments that you do!

    • @Brianstormed
      @Brianstormed  6 років тому

      So in NHL 17 I had a friend help me out with the faceoff counters, I kind of feel like connection had a part in screwing up the experiment so in that case backhand was the same as forehand. I noticed later on in the year that the backhand would always beat the forehand whenever I played.
      In NHL 17 it was:
      Tieup beats Backhand and Sticklift
      Backhand beats Forehand and Sticklift
      Forehand beats Tieup
      Sticklift beats Forehand

    • @EEee-nv6jj
      @EEee-nv6jj 6 років тому

      Brianstormed Great! That explains it! It also explains why many people complain when the connection is not good! :)
      Btw. that could also be a nice experiment: comparing how connection speed influences your winning chances!
      Thanks again for the quick answer!

    the first half of the video say until 11:30 is confusing because the video is showing lots of face-offs while you are talking and that makes it hard to concentrate on what to do. The second half is much better showing real situations and what to do. This is the kind of stuff that I find helpful. Thanks for doing all the work. it really is great that you are moving the skills meter forward by showing us this stuff.

    • @Brianstormed
      @Brianstormed  6 років тому

      +the calvenator yeah I realize it can be a little confusing, I was hoping I would save some te and people can just go back and watch the video again if they didn't understand something. I might throw in a few more conclusions to make it easier to understand.

    Hey, great video! It would be interesting to find out at what rating it matters with FO rating. I know you showed in the video that a 1 stat difference in FO doesnt do anything, and a 11 rating difference does alot. But what about a 5 difference? Would Crosby (85FO) vs Kurri (90FO) have a chance?

    • @Brianstormed
      @Brianstormed  6 років тому

      While its not exactly linear, we saw that the 21 difference gave the higher faceoff guy a 40% chance of winning the faceoff despite having the wrong counter. An 11 difference gave a 20%, and a 1 different was no change. I'd imagine the 5 difference would be a 10% chance of winning, as it would be somewhere in between, which makes it not that big of a deal in my opinion.

    how do people do forehand tieup? (push forward not kickback) someone said u have to start with forehand and then switch to backhand wen ref drops it and quickly push up on rs. it didnt really work for me tho.

    • @Brianstormed
      @Brianstormed  6 років тому

      +boobz Gill the kickback is a forehand sticklift. When you do a forehand tieup it can either be the push or it just keeps both centermen in the middle.

    • @Brianstormed
      @Brianstormed  6 років тому

      I found that a basic backhand works best against the AIs. Unfortunately its hard to counter them just because they are unpredictable with their faceoffs. Make sure you have higher faceoff centermen compared to the AIs as well. If you are doing faceoff challenges (Win more faceoffs than computer, win 75% of the faceoffs) you can position lock to a winger and your computer will win them easily.

      What do you mean by player attributes? Like see what each stat does?

    • @silentcapture1994
      @silentcapture1994 6 років тому

      To be more specific, I was talking about one on battles........like forward on Dman.....speed and acceleration comparisons. I know positioning has a lot to do with it.......but when a speed guy can't increase the gap driving to the net and or Dman close the gap it makes me wonder what good is 91 acceleration and 93 speed when a Dman with both 87's can catch you behind. By the way I love your video on using strategies. I do have another question, why does it seem my 4chkers are not aggressive when I have everyone's aggression maxed? I'm using 2-3 with my D pressure set to high. Thanks again, your videos are very helpful!

    • @Brianstormed
      @Brianstormed  6 років тому

      Thanks for the love dude! Something to remember is that when you are holding the puck you are slower than when you don't have the puck. I may conduct experiments like this to see what the #s are. D pressure will not affect forecheckers. Make sure that your Forecheck bias is all the way up as well so your players are more likely to forecheck than go NZ defense. 2-3 is also not a very aggressive forecheck, as you only have 2 people going in and 3 defending.

      Its the other way around, the stick lift, according to most people, should not win against the backhand, but it still won twice. Thats how the counter is, the backhand should beat the sticklift all the time.
