  • Before you can play a game, you should probably get into a room with your AIs and yell at them for a little bit to tell them what they need to do when they are out there on the ice. These are the strategy settings I use, the difference between each strategy option, and when to effectively used different strategies.

    Helped a lot! Thanks! My struggles are breaking into the zone, scoring and playing defence. It takes a couple tries to break in but I'll 9:00 mins on attack but barely any shots and goals. For defence my players feel unresponsive and that they're sliding everywhere

    • @Brianstormed
      @Brianstormed  6 років тому

      Flameswipe21 with that TOA it looks like you are cycling the puck to no avail. If you can't get your opponent out of position in front of the net for cross crease one timers, your best bet is to go in with a defender, see if you can take a shot, if you can't then go for a fake and then move a little bit to one side and shoot.

      So the Offensive Zone Bias is the Trap/Forecheck slider that I have set to maximum to the right (Full Forecheck). Not sure why its 0 to 6 when you only have 5 choices in game.

    hey i know this is unrelated but youve helped me out in the past. you have any insight to what the new primetime, team of the week, milstone, etc. collectibles are going to be used for in HUT? wasn't sure if they are for new sets coming up or just random collectibles to but in the sets that you can add any collectible. was thinking of possibly investing in some might be worth it. keep making vids

    • @Brianstormed
      @Brianstormed  6 років тому

      Hmm they'll definitely be used in sets. But both options could be possible. I'd lean more toward the first one where they release a high rated MS/TOTW card and have you put collectibles into the set, but who knows. I'd definitely invest in them under a certain price. Maybe 5k or less? It depends on how much cards are out there. If you can snag one for 5k and there aren't that many its a really good deal.

    Great video but I do have one question. I went into the team strategies area and they have added a new tab called “3 on 3 Offense” right under “Quick Breakout” with the options being Passive, aggressive, and standard. What do you recommend?

    • @Brianstormed
      @Brianstormed  6 років тому

      Passive. I noticed my ais are way too aggressive in 3 on 3 often giving the other team breakaways. Hopefully with passive you'll have at least one man back to defend you.

  • @ExpectedBoy
    @ExpectedBoy 6 років тому

    Great vid as usual bro.
    My main problems are protecting the puck. Often I get poked by my opponents forecheck or on my way up the ice. I think that's cos I'm not great at holding the puck away. The protect puck button isn't effective really.
    I'm not great when my opponent breaks into my zone from neutral. I think that's because I have some of the strats you showed here wrong. But also cos I step up badly... 😊

    • @Brianstormed
      @Brianstormed  6 років тому

      I personally don't use protect the puck too much unless I'm holding the puck along the boards and trying to keep some momentum. I'd recommend just using the right stick to actually protect the puck.

    • @ExpectedBoy
      @ExpectedBoy 6 років тому

      Brianstormed yep. I definitely need to get better at holding the puck away with the right analogue stick. I've mostly played the CPU so I haven't really done it. So now I'm behind on being any good at it.
      I'll get there though. 😁

    I have a question for you which I am hoping you could help me with. I have noticed that when I was playing wireless.. I experienced alot of lag and gameplay felt sluggish. Since I switched to wired that has improved but there are still some games where I experienced the sluggishness even when wired. Do you why this is.. They reason I ask is because I've watched every single episode of your refuse to lose series and every time the gameplay looks so fluid, smooth, just so pleasing to watch. Do u have any tips? Maybe it's just that you have a better internet connection? Or maybe would a gaming monitor help? Any advice would be appreciated !!!

    • @Brianstormed
      @Brianstormed  6 років тому

      So pleasuring to watch, haha. Its definitely the internet in some way. I'll be honest with you and say last year I had never experienced a game like that and then this year I was playing EASHL and it felt like my ping was at 1000 but I checked and there was nothing wrong with it. I was the only one having problems in that game since my friends said it was fine. I currently use 50 down/50 up Verizon FioS internet. If yours is worse then an upgrade may help. Next time you play, ,ake sure your NAT is Open, I heard playing on IPv4 is best, your ping is low, and there is no packet loss. Otherwise it could just be the router. Hope it helps! I'm not an expert on the topic matter unfortunately :(

    • @jeffmcfadden4363
      @jeffmcfadden4363 6 років тому

      the lag is more the connection than your internet. With 1 on 1 games like HUT and versus, the connection is peer to peer, so it is really dependent on the person you are playing. EASHL goes off of a central host server, so it relies on your ping to that server, hence why there are east coast,west coast and euro options for club. In my opinion EASHL connections are a lot more consistent than HUT. And definitely always play WIRED.

    Do you suggest to do this during EASHL? 6 v 6 and 3 v 3? My club always seems to have trouble with this. We face teams and they're AI is absolutely great and ours are absolutely awful. Any information or suggestions would help. Thanks

    • @Brianstormed
      @Brianstormed  6 років тому

      No, I've tried it in 6v6 and 3v3 and AI feels a little different there. I'd recommend just having them play as passive as possible which means any sliders with the dpad to the left (Defend Lead, Passive Forecheck, etc.) this will keep them back to give you more room. Unfortunately AI can be hit or miss, many times the AI being awful is dependent on what the players are doing (as in, if you skate into the AI's area which causes the AI to do something that its not used to doing..like if the AI is a RW and you skate along the right side). Hope this helps!

    Hey can you maybe do a video on your hut team or a good hut team to start off with like around all high 80s? As well as maybe how to beat high level computers to win packs in challenges? Thanks

    • @Brianstormed
      @Brianstormed  6 років тому

      You can see my team in the competitive seasons video called "Refuse to Lose." Its a bunch of low 80s players (85 is max I think) that are really fast and have decent shots. I may make a budget team video here in a bit.
      High level computers can be tough. Without exploiting, you should be doing one task at a time (25 shots on goal, for instance) if you are struggling.
      Gameplay-wise, do your best to stop them along the blue line so that they don't enter your zone. On offense, try to get the breakaways first with "Leave Zone Early" and long breakout passes, if that doesn't work try to set up a high quality shot by curving toward the middle, if you don't feel comfortable with that then go deep and pass it back to your defense for a D to D one timer.

    • @Brianstormed
      @Brianstormed  6 років тому

      See my latest video on the secret to offense. To defend it, you have to pin them against the boards, set up your AIs for hits, or play very passively and just push them out of the high scoring areas

    I still cant find my offence and people r still sniping on me. Do u control your defence or just let the computer make the play when a guy is coming down the ice?

    • @Brianstormed
      @Brianstormed  6 років тому

      I control them. On defense make sure you are pressuring the puck carrier in the offensive zone so that he is forced to make a move and risk losing the puck. In the NZ, stay along the blue line with a defender and get in front of the puck carrier forcing him to make a move again which will either cause an offside or you can poke him from there. In the defensive zone stay between the net and the puck carrier in the middle and try to force your opponent to the outside where he doesn't have an opportunity to score. When he cycles it, focus on disrupting the passing lanes because chances are, he can't score from where he is (if he is along the boards).

    • @adamcolavecchio6848
      @adamcolavecchio6848 6 років тому

      And wat do u do with offense.

    • @Brianstormed
      @Brianstormed  6 років тому

      First try to go for breakaways, if thats not available go for the breakout snipes or cross crease one timers, if thats not available then enter the zone and cycle the puck. You can do D to D 1Ters with defenders, or you can pass them the puck and hold the puck with them to snipe it one way or another. You can score off the faceoff with the one timers I often show or shooting short side. You can try to get your player to screen the goalie and shoot at the open net. you get caught to the outside you can shoot low and pray for a rebound to shoot at an open net.

    • @adamcolavecchio6848
      @adamcolavecchio6848 6 років тому

      Brianstormed ya I dont know why but people just keep sniping on me with the stupid glitch. Like I cant get any offence going . Im a division 1 player and I dont understand why Im struggling in division 6. Is it cause more good kids r in the earlier divisions? Plesee help me with the offence its a mess

    • @Brianstormed
      @Brianstormed  6 років тому

      Its true that better players are in the lower divisions right now, but it should be better at this point than it was on release. Those are kind of all the ways to score, you just have to try not to force things but rather understand that if its not there you move on. I'll have a video up on that in the future, my next video will focus on Defense it looks like. May be up Friday or Saturday.

    Do you recommend this strategy for people who play golie

    • @Brianstormed
      @Brianstormed  6 років тому

      I'd say for people that play goalie, you should have all your settings as passive as possible so that your AIs are furthest down and able to protect you or are just in a better position to be there for you (i.e. backchecking)

      Strategies wise? I haven't played any 6s outside of playoffs so I'm not sure. I'd say keep the same passive Offensive/aggressive Defensive strategies for your AI so that they give up as little breakaways as possible but give up the least amount of room in your zone.

    D1 guys should know it's impossible to win without solid strategies. LOL these are much different than your nhl 17 settings. Collapsing? I feel like eventually guys will start incorporating the d 2 d 1T as you start to play more skilled opponents, better off setting to tight point and taking control of one of the wingers to switch between going down low and covering the D man. Also, did 17 have a 1-3-1 neutral zone mode. I was using the 1-4 during competitive seasons 😁😂

      I'd like to think strategies make up like 60% of my game. It feels so awkward playing on different strategies because you expect your AI to be in a different place. I'm surprised you feel that these are much different from NHL 17 strats because I've been rocking these since NHL 16. Its really just PP and PK that I switched up as I found my special teams somewhat ineffective. I do think that if you are struggling against a cycle you should go with staggered/tight point as a strategy and thats why i mentioned it in the video. But I personally find that I can defend against D to D 1ters and people who cycle the puck best with the collapsing strategy just because my guys block shots like crazy.

    I don't get what's going on with my team lmfao. Playing ruby seasons and getting destroyed by some teams while my team is stacked. My record before these ruby seasons was 80 6-3 now in my last 5 games alone after upgrading my team I'm losing and getting worked nearly every game? I have all the right synergies on too lol. Help me.

      P.S. threw theses stratagies on my team and got blown out by somebody with a garbage team. I literally don't know what to do.

      +Justin Yinger it's possible that because of ruby cards, more teams you play against are stacked as well making it harder than it was previously. It's hard to provide pointers on where you can improve if it's just team vs team, as long as your players are near maxed in skating with decent shooting and big guys in the back you should be fine. If you get outworked it sounds like defending a cycle is the primary concern, to which the main focus there is to protect the most dangerous man on the ice which often isn't the puck carrier. From there you try to predict movement and passes to cause a turnover, while being patient to not give your opponent anything. Hope it helps, if you have any questions let me know.

      +Justin Yinger also, the strategies aren't usually something you can just pick up and win with, considering you played so many games. But it's definitely something that would help you over the long run just because of how aggressive your players are in the ozone and passive elsewhere

      So I decided to run a base darling in net and threw a silver card in back up and my team played a lot better in seasons. I upgraded my team with a jagr and it instantly went back to playing like shit. This game is literally stupid lmao. I have the same synergy's and everything. But when I downgrade my team they play amazing.

      What synergies do you use. I'm completely lost at this point. The better my team gets the shittier they play lol. I was having no problem winning games, now that my team is stacked they're trash lol

    Honestly I legit can't do anything in this game, I lose like every game, I have pretty much tried everything, I was div 2-3 in NHL 17 and now I can't score or do anything.

      Might be best to take a break and come back with a fresh mindset. Play the market for a bit and build a better team as well. Remember that its early in the game so a lot of the top players are in the earlier divisions.

      You seem to be in the minority as almost everyone that I have come across has found that their AI play way better with these strategies. You have to remember to buy into the system: its aggressive forecheck, spaced out forwards, no-risk defenders who stay along the blue line, forwards who try to cherry pick and generate breakaways and push far ahead of any other players in your zone. If you prefer to just take things slow then they may not be the strategies for you.

      See "Refuse to Lose -- Competitive Seasons" for the team. None of those two currencies went into the making of the team.
