Agreed, these two seem to be in great condition, could easily be restored. I’d say look for one that was flood damaged or wrecked, something with some history and then you can Frankenstein it with a newer v12 and a wide body kit etc.
Leave them Both alone there isn’t enough of these stock ones around. You have two beautiful examples. If you want to modify one find a poor example with bad engine and beat to hell and do whatever to it!
Seems like you can buy Countaches even under $100k if you look hard enough. Some are replicas and some are legit. Take one of the cheaper barn finds and make it look insane. Think that would be insane. I think it will retain/gain resale value if mods are done tastefully
Amazing find. The Lamborghini Countach is the epitome of the 80's poster wall supercar. I hope you keep them as original as possible. If you want to sale them in the future, you won't regret that option.

I would definitely keep these two stock!!! If you want to get one to modify then I would say finding one that’s a total “basket case” would be a good one for customization.
Just watched you last night on Graham’s podcast , wish it went a little longer , was an interesting interview hearing Houston open up a bit more than he usually does
Keep it stock! I think a countach build would be awesome, but maybe start with a slightly rougher example. Such a stunning pair of cars. Love the black on black.
Houston, if your going to make the black one more original, make sure you have whoever will do the restoration, to remove those later model year side strakes. Those were on the 1988.5 Countach models just before they came out with the Anniversary editions. Early low body cars didn't have those but the lower rockers with strakes were able to be retrofitted to cars. Would look much better without them since it's an '84 MY car. 👍 Congrats on the barn finds.
I think you made a good decision buying these cars in my opinion I think the white Countach you should keep stock and restore it and the black Countach you should fully modify and do crazy things with it
Anything you do to those cars besides getting carbs back on the black one will devalue them visually and monetarily.. I would possibly upgrade the tires if I was driving often.
Restore both, keep both stock, flip one and sell it for profit and keep the other as a collector peice. But auction the white one cos you could make way over a million dollars if sold to the right buyer
Keep them stock bro, the white is the super model of the pair, it clearly show the lines, vents, details that are hidden on a black car. If you mod one make it the black as it is already no added features like the body kit, rear tail lights & etc. It has an 83/89 look going on. My vote is keep the stock and restore. Finish that damn supercar you were building.
Congrats!!! Forget the carbs. Convert the car to efi with ITB’s. Borla makes the ITB’s that fit the manifold you have and the stand-alone ecu will also fix the old dodgy ignition and it will run like a champ.
I’d say if you are trying to get max value out of them then keep them stock. But having one of them totally overhauled, twin turbos and such would be really cool to see and some fans want to. “The worlds fastest countach”
aventador motor, merci 6spd, gintani f1 exhaust leave everything else the same. Maybe get the original wheels widened so they fill the fenders out more. That’s a real batmobile
Yea mod the black one keep the white one pristine and then once the "The world's fastest countach" becomes famous sell them both at auction as a pair. "The fastest and The most Pristine" And then you'll have to hook up Jacob Schuette for the idea
My opinion, is that you bring them both back to their glory days and enjoy them as they were. Nothing like the sound of that old V12. I am sure that you could find a junker and use that for the resto-mod. These pair looks to be in really good shape.
Yeah congrats on getting two of them... Like wow. Also like others have commented I would say keep them both stock and maybe find a really rough one to do the mods on? How about putting an Aventador V12 and running gear in....?
Wow I can't believe you found two like that. Man I could only dream of one. I personally wouldn't do anything to either one other than restore to factory. But that's just me. These cars are just too pure to change in my opinion. I dreamed of these cars ever since I've seen a poster of them when I was a little kid. One day hopefully I will own one myself.
1 That white car is already heavily modified. The 5000S was originally a sidedraft carb car so that engine has been swapped hence the modded engine cover for carb clearance since it is not a downdraft car. 2 The black one is a 2 valve injected car made while trying to figure how to meet DOT requirements, emissions and bumpers. The lower side strakes should be removed. These look like counts customs ex cars. Nice save if you tackle restoring them back to original/highest value. Good luck
The white one is the poster I had in the 80’s , still have it. Please keep it in its original state. First I have seen the black one… also nice. Be good if you have both side by side and also driving them together on the road - be awesome to watch

What I have ALWAYS loved from the Cannonball movies was when they did the washable paint and hosed it off to change colors… that would make some epic UA-cam content as well!
oem all the way for both! You are custodians of some automotive history there guys. If you want an upgraded ride feel chuck a kit car Countach body on a totalled Aventador.

2 Great looking clean countachs! I would find a clapped out one and upgrade it with a newer motor (twin turbo v12), crazy paint, upgrade headlights, wheels, interior, air ride.. If you already have a couple of clean ones might as well make an evil step child!
Question for Countach specialist..... what’s up with the tail lights on the black one? Seems like something is off, I’ve never seen any with them recessed so far in like that, almost like the tried to graft anniversary tail lights?

These actually drive really well when in good stock running form. I wouldn’t ruin that, with modifying it to become more performance oriented, as the chassis and other bits won’t be anywhere near modern levels.
You could always mod it in such a way that it could be returned to stock if so desired. I never really liked the White on white either ,but that Black one all murdered out looks Great! Wrap the white one and change the wheel color, but not sure if I would do too much to the mechanical parts except get them running 100%. The Black one should def. be kept just like it is. That guy that owns Curated in FL is probably pissed he didn't find these or get them.
I’d change the white ones side skirts and just have the minimal skirts that wrap under the car. Also the skirts on the black one seem non standard too but maybe Lambo anniversary style?
Those are 2 very nice examples of highly desired lambos. Do your self a favor restore them keep them and when you get old enjoy the absolute gold mine you have. Because by then they will be even more rare and desired and lower numbers available.
The white Countach...wrap-it in a crazy eye popping color. And next upgrade the exhaust to something more modern and loud. Go mental with it!! Lol! (Vegas fan here)
In the case of these my vote is to keep em both original! They're only gonna go up in value, if you start molesting it and swapping parts out in a restomod fashion it's gonna hurt it! Though the idea is amazing, maybe find one that's in a rough condition to do a restomod build on, v12 all modern suspension, custom paint, wheels interior and such. That's the route I would personally take.
Not really sure why you would do the white vs the black for upgrades. Black one already had mods. But it would be cool to see. From what I remember the chassis is all tube and can handle a lot so updates 1984 Lamborghini would be pretty cool to see honestly. Not sure about return on the work but I bet it would make it do much more fun to drive. Idk tough call. But if your not having fun with your cars then what’s the point of having them. Excited to see what you decide.
The Real Beauty of these 2 Amazing Lamborghinis are The ORIGINALITY, keep them STOCK. It's my Personal Recommendation to you my Dear Friend, and Happy Congratulations for the Great Barn Find. 😎👍
I would get the both the cars evaluated and valuated to test the waters to see which one is the more valuable one and sell it. I would maybe modify the other one slightly but not enough to take much value from it. Think long and hard as well as give Jay Leno a call to hear his thoughts on his Countach.
I always loved these cars! When in High school in Maryland in middle 80s I got to sit in a white 84 at a dealership! I wish I was shorter cause I didn't fit behind the wheel 😩! But did get a ride. Going to a modern V12 and transmission makes sense But Twin Turbos would be just EPIC!
Put them bothe back to original and keep the one you like more. Sell the other and use that for a crazy build starting with one less pristine since it'll be painted anyways.
I think the best option for you would to be to keep the white one completely original because of it’s rarity and high resale valve, but you should go crazy on the black one like murder out the windows and put a modern V12, etc. Thanks for reading
Houston. When they are completed take them here to drive them. The opening sequence to the original The Cannonball Run was filmed along El Dorado Dry Lake Bed, just outside of Boulder City, NV. The chase scene features a Lamborghini racing past the Railroad Pass Hotel & Casino (located in Henderson, NV) and towards the U.S. Highway 95 overpass to Searchlight, NV
Hey Houston, this one was fun to watch!! Great find man, my suggestion if you're willing to take it, clean up and sort out the white one and cash in, if you want to keep the black one, have some fun with that one
Watching this, it really struck me just how much all-black suits the Countach. It just complements the aggressive shape so well - as you say, it has that sinister look. I like the idea of modernising the white one - say by upgrading to the current Lambo V12, upgrading the brakes, etc. I like the idea of an updated Countach, but done with authenticity - unlike the 'new' Countach that Lambo recently released, that seemed to be just an attempt by VW-Audi to make a lot of cash by re-bodying an Aventador, without making any real effort to bring the 'old' Countach back to life.

Low Body refers to only the LP400S series 1, which was from 1978, has a lower roofing, shorter door skin in height, and lower suspension.
Leave them stock and restore them 👍
