"Look What You've Done to Me" is a 1980 song recorded by Boz Scaggs, composed by Scaggs and David Foster for the movie Urban Cowboy. It reached #14 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in November, #13 on the Cash Box Top 100,[1] and went to #3 on the Adult Contemporary chart.[2] The song reached #30 in Canada. The song, reflecting on a broken romance (as depicted in Urban Cowboy), features the Eagles on background vocals and instrumentation by Don Felder on guitar and members of Toto and David Foster on keyboards. Two versions of the song were released. The more widely available version of the song (as released on Scaggs greatest hits compilations) places more emphasis on the Eagles' background vocals, plus additional background vocal stylings by Scaggs towards the end of the song. The version as heard in the Urban Cowboy film (as well as its soundtrack) replaces the Eagles' vocals with a female chorus. According to comments made by both Scaggs and Foster on the television special (and subsequent DVD) Hit Man: David Foster and Friends, the song was written and recorded in one night after the studio called asking the duo to write a song for the scene, informing them the scene was to be filmed the following day, and the track needed to be on a courier plane the following morning. David Foster provided a bit more of the backstory on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Season 3, Episode 3, titled "Don't Sing For Your Supper,” as his then-wife Yolanda was a cast member. Foster said that Scaggs wasn't happy with any of the music he played that evening until the night was almost over. When Foster played the intro chords that became the trademark beginning of the song, Scaggs said, "That's it.”

Boz has been around for a long time, and he's always great. His best album (the one everyone owned) was Silk Degrees, which doesn't have this track. Would love to see more Boz!!
He went to High School near where I live with Steve Miller. And he is singing this song like this still many years after it came out. Great singers. Great ballads back then compared to anything now.
When I hear this song it immediately makes me think of The Urban Cowboy movie that came out when I was a very little kid. This song was all over the radio back then too! It brings alot of sweet memories flooding back. Sometimes it's bitter sweet though!
I've also heard the studio version was written and recorded in one night. I think the movie director called the studio and asked if they would contribute a song to the movie but he needed it immediately. I wonder where I read that, or if it's even true.
Silk Degrees and Lowdown are the only two albums I've had on vinyl, cassett, CD and in my UA-cam music list! I am going to see Boz on Sept 24th, 2021 and can't wait!
Love Boz Skaggs I was in my teens back then this song still makes me cry. It's featured in Urban Cowboy and I went to the movies and cried during the scene in that movie where they played that song. David Foster has written so many songs like that including a Christmas song called "Grown up Christmas List" that Natalie Cole made a hit. Great review.
Boz Scaggs was huge! Here's a few more to try: 1) Miss Sun (same live show), 2) Georgia (original, not the Ray Charles version), 3) It's Over, 4) What Can I Say. BTW I agree with those who are praising the album "Silk Degrees". Was #1 seemingly forever. One of the most underrated albums ever.
It is rare that you will find a performance almost 25 years after it's original release that is better in every way than the original studio recording. Most vocalists simply cannot sing as well as they could that much later. This song (and this DVD in general) is a major exception!
I liked Boz back in the 70's. The Lido Shuffle, Lowdown. But wasn't all over him. (If that makes sense) I rediscovered him a few years ago when I got free tickets to see him in Boulder. I was so taken. Since then, I have been " all over him" and love everything he puts out. Loved your reaction.
This song was written for Urban Cowboy. There also other songs in the movie by Boz, love his song JoJo Many memories to JoJo. I see you also appreciate all music. Me too. 1😀
I enjoyed your reaction to this song, India. :) It's almost like my reaction to it when I heard it for the first time 40 years ago. :D It's almost soul paralyzing. Never heard this particular live version...it's nice! Reminds me of the original version -- which was the bomb, with the female backup singers. Shortly thereafter they (unnecessarily!!) updated the song with male backup singers, and they added a lot of "ooh ooh oohing" to it, which were so unneeded! lol. The original is the best. One of the all-time greats. Glad you got to hear it.
And kids, that's what music can be.

He went to High School near where I live with Steve Miller. And he is singing this song like this still many years after it came out. Great singers. Great ballads back then compared to anything now.
Plano , Tx
Yeah ,girl -love your expressions ...! and the 2 backup singers just nailed it so superbly -too. beautiful
I'm 70 years of age, lived it..Loved it. No drugs involved. Blessed we are.
When she (wish I knew her name!) reaches to heaven for that last note and gets it, wow!
One of my favorite love songs. And what a beautiful live version. Great band, incredible backing singers.
This is one of the best live concerts on dvd. Truly professional musicians. Recorded in Boz Skaggs club in S.F.
It is true. There is a video of him and David playing this on youtube and they talk about it.
Beautiful! Those ladies at the end though!!! I'm so glad to have gotten to listen to this live version 🙌
@Boz Scaggs ♪ the Midwest ❤
From the same show, the song Breakdown Dead Ahead is incredible and it showcases the two back up singers. Best in the business EVER!
Rocky Sullivan how about Bonnie Rait. I can’t make you love me
This version makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.... the singers at the end... just wow!
So smooth and so soulful. Thank you, India.
It is rare that you will find a performance almost 25 years after it's original release that is better in every way than the original studio recording. Most vocalists simply cannot sing as well as they could that much later. This song (and this DVD in general) is a major exception!
This probably one of the best live recordings Boz did of this song. Great rendition!
This one song is so beautiful. Boz Scaggs did a Phenomenon job with the whole album. Love this song!
I liked Boz back in the 70's. The Lido Shuffle, Lowdown. But wasn't all over him. (If that makes sense)
I rediscovered him a few years ago when I got free tickets to see him in Boulder. I was so taken.
Since then, I have been " all over him" and love everything he puts out.
Loved your reaction.
Beautiful song love it so much!
...THIS IS WHAT MUSIC IS ALL ABOUT!!!! "HALL OF FAME,HALL OF FAME"X30... YEAHHHHH!!! NOW YOU SEE WHAT LOVE DONE TO US!!!..
Imagine ,that song was made in 15 mins only!!! AND I CRIED AFTER 15 SECONDS!!!!
One of my favorite romantic
love songs ever. I absolutely
love this beautiful song ❤ ❤ ❤
We’re All Alone should be next....
Fell in love to this in 78. Still together. Powerful stuff.
It makes me so happy that you like Boz Scaggs!
