One of the most peaceful, beautiful songs I've ever heard. Brings memories of living on the beach in my youth.
Me too, the straits of mackinaw northern Michigan
Yes, the sound is so soothing and peaceful. All time classic
This music is for when you have a bad day, come home turn the lights down low and let the music take you far away!!
This is one of my put the top down and drive over the bay to the beach songs. Nothing like seeing beautiful sparkling blue green water and sailboats, with the wind in my hair, as I'm going over a bridge listening to this song! To ME it IS serenity!
Mind you, I have ZERO desire to actually BE ON a sailboat! Hahaha!
@@back2black717 I hear you!! Just as nice with what you do!
Yep, this is a strip down, hot shower, put on the pj's, grab the adult beverage of your choice, plop down on the couch and chill to the music at the end of a long hard day kind of song. I know 'cause I've done it more than a few times. It takes the stress away.
Yup...great "hangover" music too. If ya can't dig this "sound," you're lying...or dead lol.
lkw sushi
My dad bought a sailboat in 1981 when I was 9 years old, the year after this song came out. Now, whenever I'm super stressed out, I close my eyes, imagine sitting in the sun with my legs over the side of the boat, being sprayed by the sea rushing past, and think of this song. It never fails to bring me peace.
I don't doubt that at all
The melody of this song would have me wanting to be on the open sea in any of those times that I'm feeling stressed out beyond valium
@neatdesign, I'm right there with you. Virginia born, went sailing in Summer up into New England. Best times of my life, and this song brings me back every time. Living in the deep South now as an adult (Dad retired here out of military) and only been back twice. Sail on!! ❤⛵⚓
I don’t think they song is about sailing it about painting on canvas! I think that’s what he said it was about in an interview. Blew my mind bc I always thought it was about sailing. 🤣
@@tonywiggins8073 - It's definitely about sailing: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sailing_(Christopher_Cross_song)
@@neatdesign Please tell me you know what a Metaphor is? Watch his person interview, it’s not about sailing at all!
Christopher Cross has such calming voice...I have always loved this song.
His Voice is memorable.
this song was huge back in the day....you could not escape it. classic..Grammys for best song,.....best album....best new artist.....
And record of the year!
Billboard number 1.
You need to listen to more Christopher Cross songs. Arthur's Theme, Ride Like The Wind, Think Of Laura, All Right, Never Be The Same, and several more. He had a lot of popular songs, in the early to mid-1980's especially.
Don't forget the song he did for the "Nothing for Common" soundtrack
good stuff
Arthurs theme is good..i really like this guy's voice
Swept away
If you don't know the story behind Think of Laura, you should read about it. Very tragic.
Sailing is my all-time favorite song by Christopher Cross, but he already had me at hello with all his music. I've been a fan since I was 11 yrs old i'am now 48
47 here. From Jensen Beach Fla.
I first heard this song when I was 14. I can't that I had good taste back then. Sailing still sounds great in 2021 and now I'm??? You do the arithmetic.
Same here. Since I was 6 or 7 hearing him on the radio. Great music! It’s about the music back then , not about the music video and image that it is now. It’s a shame !
He went from playing clubs, to selling out arenas almost overnight. Texas made him an honorary Admiral in the Texas navy.
You need to hear ride like the wind. It's his best song
That's one of my all time favs
This Live version is awesome ua-cam.com/video/A6UlyyQjAtM/v-deo.html
Not, this is.
Right? Should've been the first track to listen to
No, wrong second track to listen to. Sailing is thd best song.
The epitome of “yacht rock”.
No doubt 🔥🔥🔥
One of the best songs for relaxing ever. I was 12 when this came out and it reminds me of driving through the Canadian Rockies with my parents and siblings. I always tear up because it was one of the last vacations my parents took us on before the divorce. Unforgettable for me.
Such a beautiful song...
George Karagiannis-we’ll said
Enchantingly Beautiful. The first time I heard "Sailing,"it seemed unbelievable.
I was lost in all that goodness.
CC is a bad dude. He was a studio musician that broke out on his own. Incredible musician.
Right ....
his sound is so mellow....
"Bad"? Maybe "good" is meant here?
He's one of those guys that you hear the song. And when you see him? You're like, how does that voice come out of his head?
Excellent vocalist!
Christopher Cross has such an amazing voice. So calming, so peaceful. :)
I want to be laying on a sunny beach or lake, drink in hand, listening to this after all this covid crises is over. 🌼❤🌼❤
One of the most underated singers. There is magic in his music, I love him
Someone I loved used to play this for me on his guitar. I still cry when I hear it.
I always loved this song. I think this song is the best artistically composed piece of music in modern times. Very soothing song that moves like the sparkling ocean on a sunny summer's day. I was lucky enough to shake this guy's hand and personally thank him for his beautifully crafted music. Yes, I met him after the show at the Savoy in Glace Bay NS. Canada.
Gotta be one of the most beautiful songs I ever heard. It floats you away. He had a couple more awesome hits back then.
Love this song, so mellow and easy going...like a Sunday afternoon.
This song has always stirred my soul. The ocean calls to me and I always feel free, without worry or care, out on the water “sailing.” Thank you for playing it.
Such a beautiful and chilled song. I play this song when I need calm.
Just oozes class, sophistication, relaxing and simply a CLASSIC Song !!! 👍😀
one can really imagine sailing when you hear this song. he really congers up an image in your mind. the sun, the waves, the wind.
I’m a music lover from a long time ago so to see her reaction to childhood favorites with new joy it’s special ☝️💛💛👍🥰
ALL TIME FAVORITE ..One of the Greatest Songs of All Time ... It just Builds & Builds ... And Gets Better & Better!!! ..
Classic!
Same suh breddrin
Check out Arthur’s Theme from one of the funniest movies ever....the original “Arthur” with Dudley Moore and Liza Minnelli. Yacht Rock......music we rockers pretended we didn’t like back in the day but still know all the lyrics 30 plus years later.
True for a lot of people. I never pretended. I was perfectly happy being considered lame for listening to soft rock, disco, jazz, alternative... whatever I liked that wasn't cool. I wasn't cool anyway, so what was one more thing?!?
My favourite movie of all time!
Robert Reichle I was a closet geek......
watch the movie too its one of the best comidies ever 1980
That sax part from the Arthur theme
One of the best. Remember this playing at a Jr High dance.
"Arthurs theme" was also big at the time. :)
Yes India ! This song does have a “vibe”. That’s one of the reasons it’s been one of my all time favorite pop songs of all time - since it came out in 1980/81!!
When I hear this on the radio, I tune in and always feel like I’m hearing it fir the first time, and familiar at the same time
There is no one that even sounds close to his music. One of a kind!
one of my favorite songs of all time",ride like the wind" should be next, thanks for the reaction
This song meant everything to this USN retired sailor ❤️
TY 4 ur service
Thanks for fulfilling my request, sweetie! 😊
Ayyyy looks like you're about to set sail on the smooth seas of the tropical passage that is Yacht rock! Have a groovy time!
I want to be the guy in the band that plays the wind chimes.
I couldn't even do that. Musicians blow my untalented mind.
This song is the reason why our high school jazz band got wind chimes 😄
Don't discount that dude's triangle playing, most overlooked and understated/rated percussion component.
Such a magical song. Once it's in your head, it never leaves!
Christopher Cross was really pre-video/MTV, his music was made for the radio, and it shows! Always loved listening to all his hits in the early '80s!
Always amazes me that He came out in a pair of jeans and sneakers and a plain old shirt but would bang out His music like a Hero!! Love Him....no frills just a beautiful singer.
The musical aspect of Sailing by Christopher Cross is beautiful yet serene that paints a visual narrative that takes you on a timeless journey down memory lane thinking of the good times. I've always loved Sailing by Christopher Cross. Very good reaction choice once again India. Every word is a symphony.
Sailing represents something else not sailing but I don’t know what. Christopher received 3 Grammys that year for this one song.
Unbelievable
Weed?
Thank you for reacting to this one. My dad's favorite song from Christopher cross. Lost him ten years ago. I need to stop cutting these onions 😢
I'm a 53 yr old black woman whose been in love with Christopher Cross since the 80's
I hope you heard "Think of Laura"
A song he wrote for his wife's best friend. She was walking home one night and was killed.
He wrote the song to encourage his wife because she was so hurt about the loss of her friend.
I know you would love it.
Another song that has kind of the same theme is Southern Cross by Crosby Stills & Nash. But, they are best known for Teach the Children. One of my favorites from them is Just A Song Before I Go.
“Ride like the wind“ and “think of Laura“ are fantastic, just to name a couple more- Also, Lionel Ritchie has a beautiful song called “Sail On”, that’s great, think you’ll love it and get it for sure! Please react to it as well! ❤️🤘🏼✌️
Bit of trivia: Stevie Ray Vaughan's "first wife," also known as his "Number One" guitar, was a Fender Stratocaster, that became famous for it's "beat to hell" appearance after many years of lovingly playing it hard and touring, was previously owned by none other than Christopher Cross.
His sound is so soothing. I've always liked his music going all the way to teenage years.
Loved this I would love you to watch 'Til Tuesday - Voices Carry
Definitely! Always loved that one and still do!!
When I hear Sailing I picture me in a sailboat just gliding along with the wind filling the sails. Definitely check out his, "Ride Like the Wind". Just like see horses running by free.
I have always thought that was one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, even after all of these years, it sounds so sweet! CC is so talented, ya gotta listen to some of his other stuff, all great!
Christopher Cross is the patron saint of Yacht Rock, based mostly upon this song.
This song to me really is an honest. This dude I am sure has a sailboat and loves sharing with friends. Being on the water is magical. One of the greatest yacht rock songs ever
The production on this song is superb. The sort of song you would use to check if someone's stereo was working properly. The start with the strings, then the guitar coming in. At that point you felt you were inside the music. Then he starts singing and his voice is so clean. Loved this song since it came out. Great self titled debut album too.
This was on his debut album. "Sailing" - along with the album, is considered to be what started the "Adult Contemporary" music genre. Also, known as "yacht rock." :-)
Christopher Cross not only told amazing stories in his music writing, but the haunting melodies and acoustics, harmonies. Amazing!
It’s amazing how music is a way to convey emotion. Beautiful song!
I really think you'd enjoy "Wildfire" by Michael Martin Murphey
ABSOLUTELY YES!!!!!🐎🐎🐎🐎
My moms favorite singer. Back in the day I’d roll my eyes...now I’m nostalgic. Such a magical song.
When this song came out on the radio we had no image of the artist, just that smooth mellow voice coming from our speakers, kind of like the tv show; "The Voice" today. You hear the voice and you begin to wonder where this voice is coming from. Your imagination runs wild; dark hair dark eyes, blond hair blue eyes, tall, short, light skin dark skin, and then we were introduced to the kid that was singing. Scraggly goatee, scraggly un combed hair, overweight, pimples, a real "HOLY SHIT" moment! I had developed a person in my mind based on the voice I heard that bore no resemblance to the actual singer! It was a shock but didn't change our mind about his music. That is what I remember most about Cris Cross.
He's my favorite…. Always has been, always will be... xxx
An escape song. It really does take you away, when the music washes over you. You are truely sailing.
Beautiful, relaxing song......one of my favorites of his!
Beautiful song ❤️ Christopher Cross is an amazing singer!! Love all his music.
This 73 year old karaoke singer listens to a lot of your reactions, You react to such a broad spectrum of music styles and ages that you cannot help but appeal to a lot of people. Congrats on reaching 100,000 plus subscribers so quickly. I left a couple of recent tom Jones suggestions in your reaction to his Delilah and I'll never fall in love again reaction
I loved Chris. Saw him interview and always felt undeserving of all the awards? Seems like such a nice guy.
Simply sublime.
Good choice India.
One of my all time favorite songs. So serene. Gives me chills.
Beautiful song....always been one of my favorites.
Sailing 🙌🏼 Cant think of the 80s without that voice.👌🏼
Hey India... Christopher Cross is a part of Texas History.. those who know his music and singing have high respect for him. Even today, we are proud of him and his achievements. Thank you for taking the time to appreciate his music, and share with us! Regards and Hugs, from Mike in Texas!
this song soothes the soul …. Southern Cross by Crosby, Stills, and Nash is another fantastic "sailing" song - classic!

New subscriber! Love Christopher Cross! Thank you for bringing a smile to my face. I needed it today.
Album came out in 1979 I was 24 and so blessed to have his album in a trying time.
This song always hits me in the heart. My favorite song ever.
I absolutely LOVE see your genuine reactions listening to the music I grew up listening to....
christopher cross songs are chilling and relaxing smooth :) thank you India Reacts for this calming soothing song by christopher cross :)
One of my favorites of all time! Cross won five Grammy Awards for his eponymous debut album released in 1979. The singles "Sailing" (1980), and "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)" (from the 1981 film Arthur) peaked at number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.[1][2][3] "Sailing" earned three Grammys in 1981, while "Arthur's Theme" won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 1981 (with co-composers Burt Bacharach, Carole Bayer Sager, and Peter Allen). Chris is still touring. :-)
This is on my playlist. On one those warm summer nights on the rooftop. Thank you my dear.
This song playing on a warm summer night at the city pool in 1981 is etched in my mind. So wonderful.
Hey India, just wanted to say that i think you are a beautiful warm soul, i love your reactions and you have a fabulous accent x
Beautiful song. Always loved it. On my playlist.
My wife and I had a 27 foot sloop and we sailed her out of Vancouver. Many glorious days under sail and under an endless sky.
This song always tears me up.
As someone who grew up to this music, I absolutely love your channel that’s seeing it through new eyes 🤩 Makes me feel like a kid to listen to it again. 🥰 Subbed 👍
When this song first came out, I was living in a small town south of Sacramento, CA. I used to drive up into the 49'er mountains looking for gold. Along the way there was a fair sized lake - and a guy on a sailboard out there just floating around in the gentle breeze. This song came on the radio so I pulled off the road and sat there just to listen to this pleasant tune and
enjoy the serenity.
Your passion for music is infectious!❤
Watching you enjoy that provided endless waves of shivers down my back. 😊
Possibly the most relaxing song of all time. Finally, saw him live last year and he was well worth the wait.
Such a beautiful and unique song. Love his voice
This song takes me back to the early days stationed in Phoenix and one special girl in particular. Every time I hear this song I flash back to that time.
His voice is so unique! As well as being a singer/guitarist, he was the songwriter also!! Love 'Arthurs theme' too! I was 19 when his first album came out in 1979! xx
Such a relaxing song, it terms of music production one of the best, they way everything fades in and out , takes you away.
This is one of my all time favorites. Love this song.
Love the haunting melody from his songs..I love this guy!!
So Smooth.
