Thimbleweed Park 2 would be incredible!
Loves David Lynch and hates super hero movies. AND created MI. I do dig Mr. Gilbert a lot. Great interview!
14:16 "And the way you begin 3." Ooooh, the dead-eyed stare from Ron Gilbert when the interviewer implies he was involved with Monkey 3 (Curse).
Paul mistakenly referred to Return to Monkey Island as “3”.
He wasn’t talking about Curse, as he’s never seen the ending of Curse.
I would definitely love a TP 2, not to mention that I'm a big fan of those "metaphysic" endings of Ron since MI2. And the music of TP is so very good! Go with all the bizarre /weird ideas Ron!
1:43:35 is where he openly talks about Thimbleweed Park 2.
Great interview! I'm a big fan of Ron's and I think you two asked some good questions.
I'm happy to hear that even now in the easy dlc era, he respects the fans and does proper quality checks of the games before release. And also that he's being true to his own creativity and doesn't just try to make something that the statistics show will sell.
Regarding the Thimbleweed Park's system of hints where you call the hint line, I think it's a neat idea!
I'm about to start Return to Monkey Island! Had to skip the spoilers, gotta return to those once I finish the game! Can't wait for Ron's next project! ;)
Absolutely can't wait. I wish you could interview Tim as well!
A really well done interview, nice to see Ron wearing Stan's shirt :)
Thanks for watching!
Very nice interview! I grew up with his games (especially Monkey Island 1 and 2), so it's always interesting to hear what he has to say. Hope he's gonna make a lot more cool adventure in the future.
Ask him about Loom
So, tell me about Loom.
It's actually right there on one of Ron's shelves.
I would love it if he made another Thimbleweed Park style game, there are so few games that are comparable, I can only think of The Brilliant Coup at the moment.
I agree!
Awesome interview, though it must be said that it's somewhat odd that the interviewer thought Ron was really nice and down to earth despite living in Seattle... when he clearly said he was from Oregon. :D
Thank you for the amazing interview.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I can't wait to play Return later. I only played a little bit on easy mode but that's not me. I want to play it with the puzzles and all.
Just discovered your channel and I find what you do really enlightening and crucial in understanding the circumstances that created the wonderful adventure games of that era!
Are you planning to have Al Lowe on the show at some point?
I love his humor!
We are delighted that you discovered us!
We don't have any plans at the moment to interview Al Lowe.
He made cutscenes
Not the biggest point'n'click guy, but this was a good listen.
Thanks for watching!
Please Make the Game! I want to hate it! ...with Love.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
wow
What's that 70s cold war adventure game he was talking about
South of the Circle
Is the game Ron trying to remember The Long Dark?
(The one where you crash in a plane, in the arctic, in the 1970s...)
No, I'm pretty sure it's South of the Circle:

1. They cut out monkey island material :(
2. Firewatch!
1. Yeah, but most of it is accessible!
can you ask if there's another maniac mansion coming?
He just has Loom in the closet😊
Great interview with Ron - however the fellow who runs the Channel gives no warning to viewers that’s he basically going to spoil every game and say everything that’s going to happen. Would love to watch however not interested in spoilers. Not a good way to respect the fans. Why not have the spoilers in the last 30min and tell the audience….unfortunately very poorly done and doesn’t respect Ron or fans.
