can't speak for other comments but my concern is the fact that carcinogenic chemicals are used in the products they develop to manipulate our hair structure and they have been proven to be toxic and linked to server health issues. Investigations have been done and confirmed this but the beauty industry run by white ppl and distributed by the Asian community care about profit not the health of black women. Also these chemicals were made so afro hair would look and act more like European hair we all know this. Do not ignore the fact.

@@bluereign You are so right about many things. But 3C hair is not typically found on Europeans for one. And we as black women have got to stop putting roses on white women. Most black women in fact want an EXOTIC look. Not Marsha Brady.
We typically want INDIAN hair. Mainly curly or wavy. THICK and luxurious which White women do not typically have. Don't let stereotypes shape and form your mind.

Kind of... but not exactly. I had a curl back in the 80's and the thing I hated most about it was that my skin broke out because of the oily "curl juice" that I had to keep on it constantly. Hers was allowed to fully dry and it looked great! There was no way you could let a Jerri curl get that dry... it would look a hot mess 🥴

@@adwoamk8918 I need y’all to get rid of this stigma about black salons! The ones that I have gone to treated my hair right and did a great job. I know there needs to be more of a supply of black salons that do natural hair but we also need to start researching on our own and learning how to take care of our own textures. I think it has more so to do with certain black women wanting a different hair texture besides the kinky curly one they got bc of societal standards of beauty. In the video she stated that she didn’t know what to do with her hair anymore. Natural hair is a task but I don’t see how getting a looser texture will make her hair process even more easier! If she takes the time out to learn her hair she will find out what works for her but there are to many stigmas on “the time” it takes to do type 4 hair, when really it ain’t even all that much time.

Jheri curl is a brand name. These are curly perms. I’ve had various kinds of curly perms and there are differences. For example with some I was able to wear my hair straight for short periods of time and others my hair had to be kept curly with activator. After watching videos it looks like Gina Curl (which isn’t new) is a one time processing where most curly perms for black people are double process. It also has to be washed twice a week and can be straightened with a rollerset. That was not the case with the Jheri Curl and some other curly perms where you need a product like Snap Back to revive the curls after shampoo. I also saw a video where the Gina Curl can be done without the perm rods to give a straight outcome. I didn’t get retouches but like every 5 months when I had a curly perm. I don’t intend on ever using chemicals again but but I would go back to curly perms before I would get a relaxer again. Both smell horrible 😂

Separate your hair into sections and run hot water to steam it first, then wash it and condition it section by section. While in the shower put in your leave-in conditioner then put a cap on your head. Then with your hair sectioned, spray with water then add your curl custard or curl cream then add xtreme wetline gel to your hair and then oil to seal it. If this doesn't work try switching the methods around maybe you'll need to do the LOC method ( leave in, oil, cream). A few Black women with 4b/4C hair have been able to land big roles with their natural hair properly styled (Teyonah Parris and Lupita N’yongo are the only ones who come to mind, though). After being in the industry 15yrs, a couple of things need to be considered and discussed.
    1. Yes, you can spend your money anyway you choose. So, I will never tell anyone how to spend the money they worked for. It is your choice, but keep that same energy if anything goes wrong.
    2. You can no longer claim to be natural once chemicals have been introduced into the hair. Anything the changes the bonds of the hair is considered a chemical, so you are no longer a natural.
    3. You have to pick a struggle! You go natural but don't want to deal with natural hair issues. You put chemicals in it, and then you say you should have stayed natural because the chemicals broke your hair off. Just make a choice and stick with it, this is why we have so many issues with our hair in our community, because we do too much! We want to try everything that comes out and complain about it later.
    4. No matter what it is, DO YOUR RESEARCH!!! ask yourself will I want color later? How long will I have to continue getting this system? Is it a complete system where I have products that support my results? How does it work with medications you may be on? Etc...
    5. Test the knowledge of the professional no matter the service and precept their response to make sure you will be satisfied with what your paying for. The gift of gab is real!!! A duck will do what it was formed to do and so will a theif and liar. You can not take methods that where already being practiced and merge them together and say, "Look guys I have created something totally new that has never been seen before and now watch the magic" a colonizer will be and do what they were formed to do!
    6. Tell a person once, then tell them again. After that, let them be. There will be some who listen and some who don't. Put the info out there and keep it moving. There is no reason to get upset or argue over others decisions. I wish you all the Best on your hair journey, Love yourself and your hair because noone else will!!!

I think most are angered at the fact the woman Gina is not giving the credit to the original sources in which she derived her process. She is passing it as if this is something we have never seen before. I can't get made if she puts an astronomical price on it, because if people are going to pay it then why not. Beautiful sissy 😩🥰. I’m yet to see anybody say gina curl broke their own hair off... just negativity. If it makes you happy and your hair goal is long loose curled hair Then it’s for you. i ain’t mad at nobody who can afford the luxury of getting the exact style they want without the stank and grease of a wave nouvea/jerri curl. This plays on women’s desire for a change more so than insecurity imo. Everybody wants to change something. Hair dye, piercings tattoos , makeup, bbl and especially wigs and braids! From ancient times to now All of those changes were used to “enhance” your appearance or provide an illusion. If you wish to limit your appearance to please ppl you’ve never met then knock yourself out. Tbh if you was truly natural and confident you would not wear wigs and extensions in the name of “protective styles” you’d embrace your texture and what it does on the “bad” hair days. You would learn how to embrace your texture in any humidity and season of year, weather and length. not tuck it away. I wish ppl would get off their high horses. Your not superior for having natural hair🤷🏽‍♀️ Issa choice you had the right to make. Give the next person the save right and Move along.

I ended up getting the Gina curl on 2 occasions and my hair was shredding and breaking off like I’ve never seen it before on my last retouch. Never straightened my hair and washed it 2 times a week. Thought it would help for easier hair maintenance but ended up with a big chop and starting over. If it’s working for her that’s amazing. But ladies as you come across other folks that do the Gina curl you will not hear about constant up dates to the process after maybe 2 years. As a black woman let’s not let these folks play with your hair. I took a chance and my choice was horrible. On a good note, I’m embracing the short hair cut and excited for the new hair journey.

Tons of women wear wigs 364 days a year and claim they are "protecting their beautiful hair"! If they can appreciate their real hair without actually showing it to the world then this gorgeous girl can appreciate her 4c while changing it.

@@disneytoysr4fun975I personally don't equate the two because, as you said, wearing wigs is for the purpose of protection. A gina curl is for the aesthetics or better manageability by changing the way your hair behaves chemically. Only one of them is permanent. I'm glad she's happy with her hair now though and can feel good enough to handle it.

Its basical a permanent curly rod set on natural.
It doesnt give an over processed look. Still looks EXACTLY LIKE your natural hair...just permanent.

I’m not trying to hate so girlies pls calm down. You look beautiful, your skin is beautiful and your whole self is beautiful. I want to start out with sorry, even though I grew up in the same world as y’all but I’m sorry we all cant be comfortable with our own natural selves. I’m just going to be honest and say yes it’s problematic. First off the price of one of these just blows my mind and then it’s going into another community, if it’s not going to the Asian/Indian community, then it’s going to the white community. Shall we get on how our dollar can’t stay in our community no more than 6 hours while others weeks and even months??? Also the only reason I speak on this bc I am a black women and I know this feeling, it’s deeply rooted into us badly, and it takes unlocking your brain of this conformed society of beauty standards to realize this. And even then it’s still hard bc this type of stuff is always shoved in the black girls face. It’s going to take a while to actually LOVE your 4c hair and that’s okay, we still got to keep pushing away from this ideology that if you have 4 type hair you just don’t have good hair. It’s okay you did this I’m not hating or dragging bc I understand it. I really do. I’ve been there and there’s been times that I’m actually like shoot well maybe I do want one, but my love for my God given naturally 4 hair over shines everything and I understand the mental trauma against ourselves so it won’t ever happen. And for those saying let her do her, we’ll she already did it and she only got one mama so nobody can tell her nothing plus she already did it and she looks happy so good for her but don’t down play or gaslight those that say we do have an issue with our natural selves and we’re just pointing that out and this is definitely an example. But girlies you do you and whatever makes you happy😊 God bless❤️🥰

I love it, and am so grateful more women are sharing because I literally feel tho my hair is fine it’s extremely too long of a process to deal with. Melanated women it takes a lot to be us, we require the works Idgaf what no one says and it’s time consuming period being us when it comes to beauty. Sis you’re beautiful! Love your teeth, and smile. I’m happy you found your hair bliss. One day once my platinum hair grows out I will do this my stylist won’t be too happy but hey🤷🏾‍♀️ I literally have no patience for mines anymore I usually live in hats, so much so when I rock my natural hair they think I’m the new girl😂😂. People are getting upset! Oh, well not me! I understand it, and you’re still rocking your own hair and even if it was a weave so what. You look great with that texture. It’s your crown and you did your thing. Gina might see me one day idk! Myb. Thanks for sharing.

This style obviously is making you super happy, and that's the most important thing. Plus you are gorgeous and it looks great on you! (Or course, 4c is beautiful, too, but it's your hair, your money, your time, and your choice.) Reminds me of a jheri curl, but it's a lot prettier and looks like you don't have to put the activator on it, so that's a huge plus lol.

Lowkey made me sad, I absolutely love my 4c hair even if we fight sometimes and it’s sad seeing someone wanting it gone, but some girls don’t wanna deal with it anymore or don’t know how to take care of it and we have to accept that in the natural hair community. Don’t bash her.
