What is behind Reddit/Discord Mods 'distinct' look?
There's 3 main reasons causing this and the reasons might surprise you.

This video goes over the truth about reddit mods, redditors and discord mods, who abuse their power and turn reddit into trash, which is why reddit is bad and is filled with reddit degenerates. Famously this was seen with the reddit mod on fox news, the reddit mod for r/antiwork.

The thing keeping reddit mods in check are the 4 chan hackers/troll both of them have just as much sway as the other excluding reddit cus of course reddit mods have more power over reddit than 4 chan hackers and trolls do
Might I add a suggestion? Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Because goddamn it's testosterone fuel!
I once got banned on reddit because the mod said "just because you didn't type it didn't mean you weren't thinking it". They are the lowest of the low.
Exactly. I shrug to even think I was on their site at all.
I literally just went through this. I didn't spend too much time on the site, but I still cringe over the time that I did! Lesson learned, lol.
I was banned for stating the fact that non-binary doesn't exist, given sufficient biological and neurological evidence, which I supplied sources for. When a man claimed he had a sexual relationship with a trans 'woman' but also claimed he was straight, I told him the truth, and for committing such a heinous act, was, again, banned.
When you allow pathetic, body odour-ridden neckbeards and incels to have a relative position of power, it is a recipe for disaster.

I’ve never been in a subreddit with even *decent* moderators. It’s basically just the joke that writes itself at this point.
Já estive em alguns, porém arrisco dizer que os moderadores eram inexistentes.
How to become a Reddit mod:
step 1: grow neckbeard
step 2: don't shower
step 3: Never have social interactions, avoid it at all cost.
step 4: don't leave your home, always order fastfood.
step 5: limit all excersise and sunlight.
step 6: Do not be a critical thinker, only have one extremist view on life.
step 7: Hate anyone who doesn't 100% agree with you.
That's the long answer the short of it!
Basically manage your sub like Lily Orchard manages her comments section.
Step 8: Play league of legends during your “lunch break”
The karma system in general is just ass. It promotes hive minded thinking and makes reddit a close minded echo chamber.
It's stupid. I can't comment on any sub reddit now due to "low karma" just because I entered a leftisit echo chamber and made a few comments that didn't sit well with them. Now I can't even comment on neutral sub reddits about normal topics.
@@lonewander6772 same just because i said i didnt think stealing was OK.... next thing you know your comments get deleted, you get banned and get reported for selft harm... just for saying stealing is wrong.
yea I found it hard to get upvotes
I use reddit quite a bit and I wanted to start a sub. I needed more post karma to do so, so I made one post on r/unpopularopinion and r/askreddit. Currently my post on unpopularopinion has 222 upvotes and 106 comments and on askreddit 432 upvotes and 765 comments. The top subreddits are so easy to manipulate and predictable. For unpopular opinion you just state some popular opinion that is just a tiny tiny bit controversial and ask reddit you just ask people to state random BS about their lives. I don't really care about karma but they put those stupid rules in place. I don't think reddit is that bad it's a good way to find information about random stuff. But the main subs are completely different, their just a stupid mashup of reposts and dumb opinions.
@@Zoroaster4
If you want to play the game in order to farm karma, yeah just by looking at the rules and gauging what people tend to upvote you can create some bs post and get upvote spammed, but that shows a lack of integrity not only in general, but to yourself. I go there to say what I want to say, not cater to other's emotions and make them feel good kissing ass just so they can let me join their orgies.

" these people are shaping our culture "
Speak about the US, as someone living in a SA country that's hard to believe
Culture is only American thing that keeps in shape
This video grossly overestimates the influence reddit has. In the US it might be somewhat of a big social media website but outside of US it holds little to no influence
Exactly!!! Reddit is not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. Sure it’s gotten super popular with Americans and other Westerners under 30 but if you go on any subreddit that’s not geared towards them, then the numbers simply do not add up.
I suppose it becomes a common thing of moon to overexaggerate and jumps to conclussions that are based on his thinking rather than actually citing some credibile source. F.e. Low testosteron doesnt make u bald, in fact the polar opposite. Also whole generalisation of how the mod would look like is somewhat odd to me, and feels out of place. I agree that power mods are the cancer of website and free speech is somewhat in danger, but saying reddit has an influence over anything ironically reminds me of redditors making memes about Amber Heard thinking they will singe handenly erase her from Hollywood.
And there are actually subreddits that don't have this moderation problem. Powermods are a problem but mostly on the huge subreddits. When it comes to smaller communities or subreddits where topics are discussed that are directly incompatible with this kind of mod-behaviour the social climate and freedom of information is way better.
I mean, even in the US, it's really nothing. Mostly just an afterthought.

mods ruin the entire site for me. You can't go on a subreddit without seeing an unecessary bullshit rule list that looks like they stroke off to it daily. And they're always unprofessional and petty. I asked a computer question on a pctechsupport sub. I used Fahrenheit to describe my computers temps and the mod had a fit that it wasn't in Celsius. He kept downvoting everything I did because I said I wasn't going to change it. Then anytime someone would ask about my question and i'd respond he'd chime in with petty remarks like "Goodluck getting help when you didn't even use Celsius and your post makes no sense". I was like "instead of trying to correct people why not try to help or don't comment at all?". then I was permanently banned lol. In another I said I didn't think a certain youtuber was good and the mod banned me for "Trolling". I never go on reddit, being censored by bullied middle schoolers/ insecure adults is not my idea of a good time. Hopefully after this reddit blackout mods will be a thing of the past.
It's so nice to see stuff like this and eliminate any doubt of "was it me?"
I think they'll always need mods if Reddit survives. But seeing them being treated the way they've treated others for years is just beautiful.

I got permabanned on a default sub once. No explanation, until three days later and a half dozen messages to mods asking why, I was told, "Trolling." One word. So I asked again. and I was told and I quote, "Oh please. Your friends have no bearing on anything here. Do not contact us again."
So after getting that perplexing response, I posted it to another sub asking for advice. A mod from the sub contacted me a day later and told me that he reviewed my ban and found nothing supporting my initial ban, but because I had spoken out about the ban, I was permabanned for witch hunting.
There was zero accountability. The officially reason for being banned is for speaking out against abuse. Ironically any story like this that hit's the sub in question is top post for days. r/news, where is the justice?
That's just bullshit.

I got banned from r/shitamericanssay for saying gender/sex transitioning is partially a choice, because it is. You literally actively make a choice to dress differently than before, live as the other gender and in some cases, choose to have gender reassignment surgery. I was called "transphobic" and banned even though I specifically stated I didn't think the state of being trans itself was a choice, only what you do about it.
I then got called a "Tory cunt" (British Conservative Party) and got told I should go to "UKIP" which is even more right-wing, then got muted. So fucking immature. I never even disagreed with the opinion of the mod that it wasn't purely a choice. These people are incapable of understanding that people can come to the same conclusion but through different pathways in thinking.
I legitimately thought Reddit was a discussion platform so I'm glad I learned early on and never went back.
Same happened to me. Literally. I guess i was subbed in one of the 'wrong' subs while posting in a 'liberal' one. I'm far from being insensitive or offensive. Banned for trolling and after asking why: 'ask you friends'. lol my friends are all IRL i have none on this site. I think part of the reason why mods are so passive aggressive is due to them, someone who don't have self control, was handed the extreme power to silence and ban anyone who want to go against them. I think it's about the long term repercussions of their nearly invisible tendrils onto US society, it's that there will always be a place where people who won't grow can come back to, to hide and become worse. And reddit used to be more popular you know, it's just that the best of us never have to feel it's effects, but those that are going through the worst can fall into reddit echo chambers, or other such internet "safe spaces"

I'm relatively new to reddit. Yesterday, I posted an opinion during a live chat/thread, during a pro-wrestling event (All In London) where I posted somewhat of a critical opinion of the show and how I see it. I got like 50 plus downvotes immediately, a lot of hate ("stfu", etc.) and an immediate ban from the subreddit for posting something to incite, bait or inflame other users and that I "provoked other users to emotional reactions" which is "prohibited". I didn't use any foul language, or anything like that. I just had a more critical opinion of the show.
Honestly, I've been using message boards for a long time, commenting on movies, politics, etc., various topics, I use Disqus, I comment on stuff on YT, this is the first time I experienced such a strong kinda cancelling reaction.
I'm 38. Is this something generational or what is it I did wrong? Anyone experience this?
I was accused of "harassment," whereas I was the only one being harassed. I spoke the truth about them, and that was the only reason, I was banned from the whole site.
The same thing happens in real life, too, when people in power can easily shut someone up, if they don't like, what he/she says. The same things happens on the internet all the time. The difference being, that they really have no bounds not to ban you.
People hate critical thinking. People hate being pointed out at their own problems or the problems with their surroundings. While the real critical thinking is absolutely necessary to make life and people better, people reject it in the favour of delusion and fantasy. And it is always only the "charming" people, that people believe, even if they tell absolute lies, and scam people. But you would be cast away for telling, where it hurts. That's how it works.

I used to be pretty stupid in my twenties and as such wound up with 19 felonies which made me do seven years of my 15 year sentence (I was a burglar, watched too many heist movies when I was young). There's a saying in prison that goes "He fits the profile". Cons hate child molesters and sex offenders, and they're very easy to spot. They don't look like everyone else and any time a guy that looked that way entered the pod we'd say "he fits the profile, find out what his charges are". These guys look like child molesters. I wouldn't bat all be surprised if many of them were.

"It does not make me pedophile guys. Im 30 and she's half my AGE!!"
I am both a Reddit mod and a Discord mod. Frankly, I just prefer no memes in my server at all, as it ruins the theme of my server. My server is all about the old internet in the 1990s, and "Among Us" memes ruin the atmosphere completely. If the memes are 90s themed, then I allow them in my server. The memes are only allowed in General. I guess I'm just a different mod... People actually like me as a mod, because I lead a much different "ruling" than typical mods.

The worst thing is people kept telling the guy not to go on the interview because it was well known they’d try and make the sub look bad. He still went on and made a fool of themselves and the sub. I used to be a regular on that sub and that person did not represent the views of the vast majority.
When I try to post something on Reddit nowadays, the first thing I think is "What reason will the mods pull out of their ass to remove my post this time?"
The thing that gets me about Reddit is that THEY HAVE THE VOTING SYSTEM. The whole point of it is that things people like will get to the top with votes. Theoretically reddit shouldn't even need mods other than to remove spam.

dead fish, is what follows the stream, friends
This is soooo on point! I can't believe how much this tallies with my own experience of Reddit mods, since I first joined Reddit about 18 months ago. The mods constantly abuse their power and justify everything that they do as 'I know what's best for everyone, my point of view is correct, any opposing point of view is wrong and must be silenced.' They genuinely can't see how awful they are and don't care about trampling all over the free speech of others, in order to protect and promote their own narrative. I really wish something could be done about these amoral scumbags. Free thinking and debate seems to terrify them even more than soap does.
In r/shitliberalssay subreddit, i think mod posted a post. And i joked about that. ( They were saying America and propaganda) , i made a fun of his argument. Little did i know i got 2.6k upvotes. A lot of Reddit users have this inflated ego to the point where they get high off of it. They seem to have this strong desire to be in the right all the time. Even if it's just a small argument. Upvotes and awards are basically dopamine to them. If you disagree with them in the slightest, they do everything they can to make it seem as if you're the worst person in the world.

I get that a number of these people get by using things like disability and unemployment benefits, so their perspective is a little biased, and work isn't usually fun. But, why would they advocate for unemployment becoming the norm?

Sure, we can appeal to the infinite regress argument of "stuff has just always existed bro!" but then you run into the problem of how change is possible in such a regress without a First Cause. And an appeal to things changing into different things also doesn't work without a First Principle.
So, no matter which way you face it, atheism is logically retarded. And this isn't even limited to Christianity (which is Truth), but pagan philosophers such as Socrates, Plato, Aristotle and Plotinus saw atheism as an impossibility simply through observation of creation.

Another thing to note: People often imitate those who are in power to seek validation or simply to fall in line to avoid consequences. This is why too many people who use reddit become socially awkward people as they have been following in the footsteps of mods. The mods demand users to comply to their own skewed interpretation of human interaction and these people slowly become conditioned to behave this way, which comes out as awkward in real life or outside of reddit.

Hmm you got any proof of this origin?
@@spaceman2517 Take a look yourself, the evidence is all over the net. I remember the 2010s and the cringe vividly. Most of the weird shit around that time originated from Tumblr, to the point where creating yt channels making fun of Tumblr posts was a popular trend. It started with demanding the acceptance of alt sexuality and all it's degeneracy (vore, dinos fucking trucks, sonic enlargement fetish, etc) and eventually morphed into virtue signaling for "marginalized special interest groups". Reddit was able to provide a structured forum for their specific interests ( r/bondage, r/jailbait, r/toesuckers, etc) and add fuel to the flames. This brought the obscure communities to the spotlight, and the rest is history.
@@spaceman2517 there is tons of youtube content on the events back then, the most public event of these was gamergate because it was the last hurra of the tumblrites.
