Worked for me! Thank you for the savings and love what you’re doing with that Astra. My MOT failed with their advice for a new clock spring / squib ring. Just put the clip on, honked the horn too much and booked a new test.
was told by an autospark this would be more than my cars worth to fix... cost £5 including postage to fix myself. this video saved my car :) thanks so much
Brilliant. Just done it, and after years of problems, it worked! There was already a clip on one side from where it was recalled years ago... I put one on the other side (bought two on eBay for £5 each) and, hey presto, it's working. Thanks so much mate.. you are a life saver.
Well that was awesome stripped down the cowling stright away could see the flex on the drivers side of the cim so fitted one clip thought I’ll fit the other I bought and there was already one there so winner the horn now works I had noticed the volume being a bit temperamental at times so hopefully that’s the cure 👌 well explained instructions
Great fix. Thanks for this. . Saved a load of grief. I tried the clip first and it didn't work took it off and tried again a bit further down and works great.
Thanks James for your clear instructions and video. Clip from eBay cost me a fiver to get the horn working again on my daughter's Astra H. Brilliant! Thanks again.
Just done this on my Zafira B as a result of your video. The clip was already in place on the other side so I have two clips on. So far the horn is working but only time will tell
I had same the drivers one didn’t have one and you could see the flex were the trim of the cim clipped together once the second clip was on in my case and seems a few others the horn then worked
Thanks for the video. It didn't work for me. There was already a clip on the left hand side. I put one on the right as per the video and tried moving it up and down but made no difference. MOT next month so time to bin the car 😢
Hi, I have the Opel equivalent LHD Astra with the same problem, ordered two of these, hopefully will solve the problem and save be bashing the steering boss to make the horn work!
Hey , my housing that holds everything in place is positioned kinda croocked , can I unbolt that big bolt and adjust it a little bit , is it possible ? Because I saw there is multiple jacks and everything underneath ? Thanks !
I’ve got the same problem with my Astra H, part ordered from the dealership. They sell package with 25 clamps which I do not need, but still is not that expensive, it is 15€
I thought these were common knowledge by this time, I fitted about 15 a day when I was in the dealer 😂 there was also a tsb for the steering wheel wiring loom causing the light issues etc too
It's metal mate, and it squeezes the connections on the back of the CIM together since it's only held in properly from one side until you put the clip there. The clip is a very tight fit.
I'm not a car guy so maybe it's just me and it's unrelated but my horn stopped working & I found it was something to do with the right side control on the steering wheel. I took it off, pushed the connection in further and held it whilst I pushed the horn and it worked, it's now held down with tape but it's working again. Curious to know if it was just me or if this works for others?
Class video mate will need to do this in my Burg not had a working horn in about 10 years 🤣 can anybody explain to me what this clip actually does to fix the issue?
The CIM itself, they are prone to failing. If the clip wasn't helping you probably need an auto electrician (specifically one from one of the Astra owners groups on Facebook eg Chris Keller gets recommended a lot)
James or anyone in comments know. My wife’s Astra H 1.3 cdti developed issues today, all signs point to CIM. I’ve not pulled it apart to see if it has the clips fitted. But the main issue is it won’t start, cranks repeatedly but that’s it. Anyone had this or know if the clip method could fix it?
If it's cranking I'd think it's a sensor (crank sensor or cam sensor so the ECU won't sync), or fuelling issues (injector, fuel pump, blocked filter) rather than the CIM. Unless there's a common CIM fault that causes this but I haven't heard of one. Do you have an OBD reader to plug in and check for codes? You might get better/faster help on the Facebook astra owners groups :)
Part number: 93196910
Is this a vauxhall dealership part number?
Hi, off topic but what radio is that? Looks sick
What's the clip called as I need to order one
@nedmustafa3047 yes, and if you go direct to vauxhall it costs a whopping £0.24
Hi, I suppose it is the same fix for Zafiras, isn't it Mate?

Thanks a lot, just fixed the horn with 5 pounds and passed the MOT 👍
Absolute legend, opened it up to see the previous owner had tried but just put the clip on the wrong side
Just ordered the clip for a fiver, fingers crossed it will fix the horn issue. Didn't realise it would be such a simple fix. Thank you

Do you have the listing number on Ebay? I can't find the part

You’re a legend mate. Fitted this morning before taking car for MOT and it works. 👍
As a Canadian LHD astra owner, I find all your videos super helpful and informative. Love to see all the mods that are done over there
Thanks mate, it's nice to hear 😁
Brilliant video problem solved in minutes I have now got a clip on the left and right side of the steering column thank you James.
Hi. Did you get it online. Or from Vauxhall Store.? Thanks
Great fix. Thanks for this. . Saved a load of grief. I tried the clip first and it didn't work took it off and tried again a bit further down and works great.

Hi, would u pls share the ebay link for that clip, my wifes horn just gave up and i hope this will be the fix for the problem, thanks.
Hi do you have the link can’t find it with just the part number
Saved me a right headache for weeks😅 could not figure it out took it apart they’d fitted it wrong put it right horn now works every time👌
Lol idk ehat purpose this part has ? It onoy sits there and repairs the problem ? Can you explain it ?
Just done this on my Zafira B as a result of your video. The clip was already in place on the other side so I have two clips on. So far the horn is working but only time will tell
My volume buttons aren’t working on steering wheel will this sort it? And where can I get the clip as can’t seem to find one. Cheers 👍🏼
Am about to try this today! The parts are OOS on Vauxhall but eBay had them. Is the last screwdriver used the T20 torque. I have to buy one!
Cheers James, fitted in ten minutes and now the wife’s car should hopefully pass the MOT..!
New clip was 24p from Vauxhall fitted it realised there was already one on the other side didn’t fix it, but I’ve got a replacement cim to try
I don't get it, why would that clip matter, does it push on the contacts to make the seal better ???
This clip is missing from the factory? How it works and fixes horn problem?
Just saved me couple of hundred quid. So thanks for this video mate. You're the MVP
Hi,
I have the Opel equivalent LHD Astra with the same problem, ordered two of these, hopefully will solve the problem and save be bashing the steering boss to make the horn work!
Great info as ever mate. Mine stopped working today but was ok yesterday! Ill swap the fuse then get this clip if no joy. Thanks
Hey , my housing that holds everything in place is positioned kinda croocked , can I unbolt that big bolt and adjust it a little bit , is it possible ? Because I saw there is multiple jacks and everything underneath ? Thanks !

I've got a Corsa vxr with intermittent horn is this the same problem 13 plate
Thanks so much for this mate. It was driving me mad. All sorted now .
I’ve got the same problem with my Astra, part ordered 🤞🏼
Hi From where. You ordered part. ?
will this help with my key not connecting to the car ...
Do you know anywhere that sells it Vauxhall superstore has sold out cheers
I thought these were common knowledge by this time, I fitted about 15 a day when I was in the dealer 😂 there was also a tsb for the steering wheel wiring loom causing the light issues etc too
Never knew about this, until TODAY!!
i dont understand how that piece of plastic is fixing the issue. what is it actually doing? thanks
It's metal mate, and it squeezes the connections on the back of the CIM together since it's only held in properly from one side until you put the clip there. The clip is a very tight fit.
Thx Bro best Solution ever . Now my Astra H is running with Horn again. 👍👍👊
Will this work with a zafira as I also have this issue. Thanks
Hello, do you have any idea, if you could replace the steering wheel of Astra H with Astra J or K? Also what about the front seats of the hatchback
Hi does anyone know if the cim controls the rear fog light and the rear wiper please . Many thanks 👍
Hello James, I'm interested in the Infotainment assembly fitted in your car. Could you please help with supplier details. Regards
What exactly is the piece that you order that you put on the steering wheel cheers
Hi James, do you fit the clip on the right hand side bottom of the cim mate.
Update jan 2024 vauxhall still sell clips 20p each
But eBay will sell you it for £3-10 and that’s from superstore one of them now on back order seems lucky got mine at the cheaper rate
Whats the clip called please my horn as gone too
The trick does not work on my car, but I reallized the previous owner has changed the CIM already. The CIM is only a few years old.
Class video mate will need to do this in my Burg not had a working horn in about 10 years 🤣 can anybody explain to me what this clip actually does to fix the issue?
Squeezes the connections together
Don't know what I did wrong but had two of theses clips one on each side still no horn so don't know what it is
thanks bud, this actually worked 👍
Does it fix the cruise control?
Wheres the link plz
I just took the corroded connector off and replaced it with wires last time I done one
I posted this in astra forum just before this video was posted
Merhaba aynı sorun benimde var fakat Türkiye’de bulamadım link varsa paylaşırmısınız
I’ve recently fitted two clips to mine one on either side just as a preventative not had any issues just rather be safe then sorry
Would this be the same for the zafira vxr does anyone know
Unfortunately didn't work for me :/ Im gonna try to get to CIM and clean joints
Same happend to me..
Superstore sold out..
Anyone know who else sells these clamps?
Just ordered from eBay 👍🏼
Any chance this applies to 2003 Vectra C with no horn? 🙏
I used to have a Vectra and never heard of this fix for them mate. It could be a similar thing, but could equally need a new CIM or wiring
Didn’t work for me, turned out mine already had one in. What else could it be?
The CIM itself, they are prone to failing. If the clip wasn't helping you probably need an auto electrician (specifically one from one of the Astra owners groups on Facebook eg Chris Keller gets recommended a lot)

@@JamesBalazs plugged in with scanner and codes I get are all on the CIM and point to a communication issue so either it’s broken or it’s loose id say
Hi is there anyone in the Walsall area who could possible do this for me
Where you find this monitor for console?,
Teyes CC3, you can order from their website and I have made a video about installing it
Thank you so.much for that
Nice one mate good help 👍
Its meant to be fitted on the left hand side on a UK car
There was a clip on left of mine but once I fitted one to the right side job was a sucess
Worked for us 👍
Didn’t work on mine
Why did it sound like arcade game😂
Why does it sound like that
One of the two horns was pointed sideways at the back of the bumper. Fixed now
@@JamesBalazscan you post the current horn?
Didn’t work. Very fiddly and wouldn’t attempt if you haven’t got nimble fingers. Waste of 3 hours!
