  • This is my latest version/design for moving the Astra H factory GID screen into the center console of the dashboard. The video shows how to assemble the printed parts and how it is installed in the car. For the files and a bit more information regarding printing & additional parts needed please visit www.thingivers... . Additionally, I have a few more designs for the Astra H that you can find in my Thingiverse profile. I hope you enjoy it!

will this work for the BID screen also?? and are the cables long enough to drop down to the lower position and plug the screen in again??

Unfortunately no, this is specifically designed for use with a GID screen. But with a little work you can make changes to the design to accommodate a BID screen. And you'll need to extend the cables of the screen to be able to relocate it.

Hi, unfortunately I'm not selling this, but I have made the design / files freely available to anyone that what's to make it for themselves. My recommendation would be to contact a local 3d print shop / service and commission them to print it for you. Good luck, hope you enjoy it.

I saw this mounting solution when I was making a air filtration system for my 3d printer. I'll most likely try implementing it in future designs that require assembly.

Someone put this screen in the gap in the ceiling, but it must be hard to extend the cables there. I have a bc and settings button, do you have one? I want to do something like this, but mine is a 2008 model

@@ekrem06 Well, I wouldn't say it's that hard to extend the cables to the ceiling. You would need to extend them anyway to get the display mounted in place of the factory radio ( unless in the later year model, the GID screen cables were significantly longer ). I think some people who have relocated the screen to the ceiling just use an Ethernet / LAN cable which would make it even easier. I just don't like the idea of needing to look up to know what my climate control is :/ Regarding the " bc " & " settings " buttons I don't understand what you mean exactly. In my situation, I'm using a Teyes CC3 head unit that has very poor communication with the car and I don't have the option to emulate the radio buttons ( including the bc & settings )

@@ajninn yes, i don't like the idea of looking up, but the center console would be a good place to put coffee cups (you've seen those big stanley ones) :) on my radio there is a bc button above the fm/am button. when i hold it down i can see the radiator temperature etc. there is a 3 line display on mine

@@ekrem06My next idea is to make an add-on to convert one of the empty spaces into a cup holder. I've made one for the driver under the headlight and fog light controls but I want one for the passenger as well ( or for the driver if they prefer it to be on their right side. I just haven't had any good ideas yet how to make it :/
