Hasdn't run across your show before, but I'll be back. Your a great interviewer. You let your guest talk w/o interuption and add just enough "texture" from your own experience. Admirable you took the time to do your homework on Laird... the interview would have been a litte shallow for "surfers" in your audience without it... and a whole lot more impressive/interesting for your "non-surfer" viewers... with it!
I love how you guys are getting into all these different sports! I learn and laugh a lot listening to you guys. I remember Julian discussing learning how to return punts. He talked about reading the trajectory of the ball, and it made me think the focus of reading the wave was similar to what Julian did.

I wanted to play football my whole entire life, had a couple full rides as a white running back and ended up getting into trouble and left. Felt really empty in life not playing football. Moved to Hawaii 12 years ago and can say surfing saved my life. Everytime I catch a wave, I feel like I am on punt return/kick return again.
Absolutely know how to surf ! It is the best feeling ever ! The ocean clears your head after work , takes to a better place . Lived on Maui for years , saw Jaws break ( Peahi ) Great island , Also a huge football fan , but NOTHING is better than surfing , Laird is a great guest

Done that myself at a warehouse we used to store work equipment at. Boss man found it months later and had to unclog the toilet. That was years ago and i still laugh about it.
Missed opportunity to mention Colin Jost mangling his foot in Tahiti, while hosting some Olympic surfing coverage. He managed to crash into the coral reef & got a 'gnarly' staph (staphylococcus aureus) infection of his foot. 🤕 He's a smart, funny guy - could be fun to have him on for something, even though he's a New Yorker (Staten Island to be exact); he spent some time in Cambridge so maybe he's not that bad. 😅
Btw - Did ya miss Gronk mocking him at Fanatics Fest, slyly lifting up the #12 jersey (he & Brady pulled a uniform swap) & saying, "I look like Julian!" while exposing the intersection of his obliques & transverse abdominis. Brady promptly told him to, "Cover that up" & gestured to pull the jersey back down. 🤣
Put Laird on almost ANY "playing field" with pros and hes gonna survive - maybe impress a few people. Put any pro athlete where Laird "plays"... and they're gonna DIE. Simple as that. To call Laird a "surfer," is a shallow description of his talents and intensity. You dont have to look too far into his accomplishments to know he's a "super freak" of immense proportions.
Can say that I did not watch last week as I am not a wrestling fan, but I do not surf and just wanted to hear about surfing and possible water creatures he may have encountered. Having never been to Cali or understand surfing I am sure its the popular thing out there like the BeanPot and/or hockey in New England.
