Share a story about this guy. We surf frequently at a local spot right down the beach from him. He paddles (SUP) straight out from his house, a fishing pole tucked down the back of his trunks, thus it's sticking straight up, he paddles over to a buoy floating out past the break, ties his pole off, drops the line and paddles up to the main break(s) and slays the heck out of the surf for a while. All while he's trying to catch lunch...lol... Guys such a cool guy out in the break. Says hi to everyone, smiling, will chit chat with ya (if he's not paddling in between sets to get a workout) but the guys way cool, friendly, etc.
I met Laird when I was 13 living on Maui, he was hopping into his truck and my dad noticed him. He could see we wanted to talk so he waited, shook our hands and took the time to have a conversation with us. He was a hero of mine at the time, and that action still makes me think how I should be good to people too.
First encountered Mr. Hamilton as Lance Burkhart in North Shore recorded off terrestrial TV on a Video2000 (shout out if you even know what that is) in Scotland as a kid. Inspired me to take up surfing and in Scotland that meant 6mm titanium lined wetsuit, balaclava, gloves and booties. Decades later I managed to make my own Rick Kane journey and surfed the North Shore. Didn’t meet Laird but did (literally) bump into Gerry Lopez while I was riding a bike. Thanks Laird for always being such a huge inspiring my life.
Laird is a legendary beast and overall warrior. I've always admired his tenacity and self-discipline. He must be surfing outer reefs these days because you never see footage of him at the normal big wave spots when they're going off.
It's nice to see that he's still killin' it after all these years. He looks great, so the diet and training regimen is obviously doing something right for him.
In the film North Shore Laird already was a beast physically and in Endless Summer 2 windsurfing from Maui to Oahu for 5 hours straight and open sea paddle boarding for 42 nautical miles! The guy is a beast...
He's a BEAST. What drives this man is not a component found in most of us. In Take Every Wave, the doc about Laird's life it gets to a point where you just wonder how he's still alive after all the times he's flirted with death out there on the waves the size of small mountains. He's also slightly insane, no denying that, haha. Still a beast at 60. Some humans use their bodies so beautifully it's just not right that age starts to creep up on them; Laird is one of us who should get a pass and stay at 40 forever.
The first time I heard of him was in an 80's movie "North Shore". He played Lance Burkhart, who was not a nice guy, but in reality this guy is such a cool and nice person!
cool guy man. Seems like a good role model. was probably abit a mad in his youth but he seems to have found the good life. Man, i need to go to hawaii.
He was the first guy I ever saw in person riding a thruster! Around 1982 on a Randy Sleigh at Hanalei Bay! He was ripping way back then!!! A legend just like his dad Billy 🤙🤙🤙🤙
The coffee creamer is pretty good. We have it at home and it’s a great camping addition to that cup o joe out in the bush. Jelly of that pool - it’s legit!!
Gabrielle Reese was my and my best friend's celebrity crush in the 90s and Laird Hamilton is the type of dude you just can't hate on even though he stole your girl (that you could never possibly acquire irl) because he's so cool.
Try this part of Laird's workout if you're physically able: any kind of cardio while holding your breath. Laird does it under water. See how you feel after about 30 seconds! Careful.
Can we get Kelly, Laird and Jamie all together for some strike mission or just interviews? There’s probably a couple other HI recent legends I’m missing out on.
When you open your refrigerator, the cold air that keeps your food fresh escapes and is replaced by warm air from the room. Your refrigerator's compressor has to then drive the warm air out and bring the temperature back to normal, elevating not only your monthly energy bill, but also your environmental footprint. Close this fridge!
Jesus loves you and is coming back soon! Believe in His death and resurrection and repent of your sins and be saved! Remember that He died and rose up again for you to be in heaven with Him! Have an amazing day ❤😊❤
This is the absolute first person you have EVER had on this series that knows what they are talking about with nutrition.
lairds a legend not suprising haha love this dude
Laird is a peak performance athlete.
This might’ve been my favorite Gym & Fridge yet. Love his approach to fitness

Yes, and then he drops in on you too...

Great story!
@@crunchers9 is that the only guy that has dropped in on you?
Great to hear he is a real person 👍
Thats the healthiest and best fridge I've seen on any show.
This was one of the best gym and fridge episodes by far

Been a huge fan of Laird Hamilton since watching Riding Giants many many years ago.
I’ve never surfed in my life, but for my money I think Laird is the best action athlete of all time- and he may be the greatest pure athlete period.
I would agree with you
Check out Dom di Tomatto. I'd toss his hat in the ring of this conversation 100% Arguably the best overall athlete in the world in my opinion
lol hes not a better athlete than any NBA or NFL player but hes awesome for sure
@@Zay-vn8mi i hope you've came to your senses. this statement was nonsensical

Enjoyed this one .-and the man went into the ice bath without even flinching
If you flinch more it’s better for you according to Andrew Huberman
@@torreypines77 Andrew huberman talks about moving around to break up the thermal layer, not talking about the lack of emotion.
His line of products are next level too with really high quality ingredients. Just an awesome dude living a well rounded life 🙌🏼
The first time I heard of him was in an 80's movie "North Shore". He played Lance Burkhart, who was not a nice guy, but in reality this guy is such a cool and nice person!
So the only overlap between his life and mine is ... coffee. I'll take it. Seriously, he is a hero to me.
He seems like the coolest guy ever!
Incredible human being. Probably favorite video from this series
The OG of health and fitness. Now everybody is doing ice baths and mushroom coffee. This guy was doing it 6-10 years ago.
He is a beast!! Incredible shape and the world can learn some good stuff from this guy! He makes it look easy, I would drown in the pool...
Laird Hamilton is da man! 1000%
Just when I think they can't get better... Fantastic! I live in a colder climate it is nice to see a different style. Balance.
Relentless! Love it.
Laird rules.
Also, I’m glad he mentioned his friend, Don Wildman. I know they were close.
Nice, this guy looks very well balanced and down to earth, I like it, also very different workout so that's nice
Laird is one of the greatest athletes on the planet.
Laird, thank you. That was great! I need more kimchi and fats , i'm on it.
If I could double like this I would! Love this guy such a mentor

Even when he beat her?
He was also a famous life-guard in Hawaii and probably saved a bunch of people's lives.

Lance Burkhart!!!
He has his own company, LSF , Laird super food .
He never mentions take out or fast food at all curious if he ever eats a slice of pizza 🍕 or McDonald’s?
In an interview with Rich Eisen. He said something like he doesn't eat pizza. He can't remember when he last ate pizza.
