Thanks for review and video. It cleared some things up for me - 1st shop vac. Good work, sir.
You got it Dale... go make your cars last!
GREAT video and showcased on the Harbor freight site!
Didn't know if you knew that, so that's awesome. Also they finally have a certified filter replacement for all 6, 9, & 14 Gallon wet/dry vacs and they're simply called that.
Thanks man. Yes, it took HF a very long time to come out with the filters. I discovered filters from Walmart that work great (see video #3). Thanks for watching. I hope you're a subscriber and make those cars last baby!
Thanks for the great review! 👏🏽👏🏽
You need to just call your local vacuum repair shop and ask for a filter for Hoover Max Extract Pressure-Pro Model Sixty.
You might end up working at a Cinnabon in Nebraska if you ask for that filter. 😂
Just bought a 6-gallon Bauer shop vac. at Harbor Freight, April, 2022. I bought an extra dry filter to have an extra filter for future. On-line ID for the filter was VF2007, but when I was at the store the available one that fits 6-gallon and larger Bauer shop vacs. has a part number 1954A-B on the box and states:
"For dry pickup, washable & reusable for sawdust, leaves & debris."
thanks for the video I enjoyed it!
I have this same one. Such a good vacuum
Very helpful. Thank you.
Amazon got the filter replacement #90304 and 90585 for 20 dollars. Perfect fit.
I take the filter off and attach the hose to the blower function and blow it off. Then I take my sink sprayer and rinse it then let it dry. Great review.
Great idea! I hope you're a subscriber and make those cars last! Thanks for watching!
Great Video 👍🏼
Thanks for watching!
The vacuum has great reviews it out powers most brands
Hi, yes I've been very happy with it since I bought it. Thanks for watching... I hope you're a subscriber!
We are looking to buy a vacuum, This is great now i have an excuse to go to Harbor Freight
Hi there, was looking at this wet/dry. The ball is there so water don't burn the motor. We used to use those vacuums for sucking water out of Cockpits when in the Navy. Getting one to clean gutters.
The filter is fantastic easy to clean
Thanks. This is a good unit. I hope you're a subscriber and you'll make those cars last!
We had a water leak and the carpet got soaked. Bought this vac , cut a slit in the carpet and stuck the vac hose in to blow air under the carpet to dry it out. After 10 minutes of running, the whole room smelled of burning plastic, and I was planning to leave it running while I went to work. My wife said turn it off before it catches fire. So now I have to run it while I'm home and listen to it for hours and hours.
Home Depot has 1 7/8 attachments that will fit in the hose
Thanks Jason. Yes I'm a big believer in using other attachments from other sources. Thanks for watching!
One of the reviews on Harbor Freight's website says you can use Stanley part #08-2566B or Shop Vac part #90304 as replacement filters
Nice work! I missed that review. It's sad that HF couldn't just make that clear. They have a good product, but they need to make filters a no brainer. Thanks for watching!
This is the same exact vac sold at Aldi.
Ferrex
6-Gallon Wet/Dry Vacuum
Shop-Vac blowers are great for a workbench with a lot of sawdust or some spilled sand and light duty items like that. I would never use a leaf blower in my garage because I don't want it blasting everything every direction however using it as a vacuum is equally effective unless it is some tight area behind a table or something that you cannot clean up.
Excellent point! I didn't think of it that way. Thanks for watching!
Now in 11/2023 Thank you sir.
In Nov 2023... still a good unit! Thanks for watching Ron, I hope you're a subscriber and make those cars last baby!
Thank you very much TSA ! 😁I have collected 3 Wet Dry Vacuums of the 6 gallon or so size. Then I have the monster Craftsman, and the Lowe's larger model. This Bauer 6 Gal. will be for Wet Jobs for my wife and myself. I am restoring a 1969 Ford Falcon Futura 2 Dr. Sedan It's approx.70% at this time. I will be a lifetime subscriber to your TSA here and your online page. My wife and I are Baby Boomers. Very cool people. We have had the best of everything here in America. God Bless You All out there and Please Go To Church.

Hi there. The filter on the Bauer is similar to the one used in a Karcher MV1.
Yes there are quite a few vacs that use this filter. Thanks for watching!
I purchased this exact Bauer 6 gallon unit and found ZERO information regarding what type of bag to use to avoid dumping debris directly into the tank? 🤷🏻♂️
Thought Saul Goodman was giving this review!
In my next video I'll yell "Gotta Call Saul!" Thanks for watching. I hope the video helped in your decision about the Bauer.
@@TheSwitzAutomotive Haha awesome! Thanks so much for the review. I bought one today before I watched your video. Cant wait to try it out!
The blower option. Is good for blow drying a car!!
Do you know where I can get the filters from? I have the exact same vacuum in the video and I’m looking for another filter
I "believe" the correct filter is the Dayton 2W435. I say "believe" because I use the paper towel technique (video #2) and have not had need to buy another filter. It looks like you can get a Dayton 2W435 from Granger and other places.
Where can I get more of the hose extensions, specifically the 30" hard extension, (not the soft flexible part)
I'd try typing "vacuum extender sleeve" or "extender wand" or something like that into Amazon. They've got a boat load of cheap options. Thanks for watching!
For the “blower part” do you think it would help dry a car efficiently?
No it's too weak. I have a DeWalt blower that I use for that sometimes. As I say in the video the blower feature is really only to get you by in a pinch in case your gas or electric blower dies and you have to finish the yard before people come over. Thanks for watching!
A hairdryer would be easier to drag out and has heat!
As long as you don’t hold it too close to the carpet too long!!
haha feel like I got ripped off after seeing all of this, got mine for 60 said it was usually 80 lol. dissapointed it came with so few attachments. very strong suction, well made and doesnt seem flimsy at all, worked great around the house, used it in my car thrilled with the results. I'm sure most modern shop vacs are pretty nice, but even at 60 this felt like a good value with what I've already put it through
Thanks Greedy. Overall I think it's a solid unit. I like the dovetail casters. Very powerful suction. And I use other attachments from an old Dirt Devil to get jobs done. Thanks for watching!
It’s 100 now😒
I don’t think so I went there tonight!
Bought mine April 2023 at Harbor Freight for $120..that's inflation.
@@02svt02wrx $120 April 2023.
How about wet? Can you use for carpet?
So I lost the hardware to assemble the casters any ideas where I could look for extras?
The castors are just dove tailed in with screws. Did you lose the screws?
@@TheSwitzAutomotive unfortunately yes.
@@TheSwitzAutomotive maybe you could describe or picture one ofbthe screws? If that isn't too much to ask?
@@Sam-vt3tl OK why don't you click "about" on my channel as that will show my email and you can email me and I can pull one of the screws out and send you a picture.
When in vacuum mode why does air pour out the rear port? Thanks.
That's what I'd like to know too.....is there a covering we can place over that port because my fireplace ashes (cold) are spewing out as a fine mist.
Just bought this today for 60 bucks. It’s been a. Few years. Is it holding up? I was debating buying the warranty
It's still running fine. I don't buy the warranties since almost never does the item fail in the extended warranty period (plus it's $60, not $600). Thanks for watching. I hope you're a subscriber and make those cars last baby!
At Harbor freight they sell Bauer filters for $14.99!!
One question and its stupid, it does come with a filter already right?
Not a stupid question... you would think it would come with a filter... and it does. Believe me if it didn't I would have taken it back immediately. Thanks for watching!
I have water stuck in my washer, can i use it to drain it out? 🤔 the washer is full btw.
I doubt it as the water would have to travel a long way up... usually shop vacs can vacuum up water off the floor or out of buckets that are close to the ground. I would try to find a UA-cam video on what to do with water in your washing machine (it maybe something simple like a clog in the system). Thanks for watching!
@@TheSwitzAutomotive okay thanks a mill
@@user-cp5mb4rk4m you a siphon pump
@@sgt.hollowpoint6968 thanks a million
Any update on if the filter was comparable after all?
Mike I'm doing some different research on making my own pre-filter before buying another filter. I should update this soon.
@@TheSwitzAutomotive pre-filter hack: use an old knit hat winter cap from Walmart. Works great!
@@ragingbullhcwf Great idea! I may have to try that. Thanks for watching!
Take the filter off, their should be a number an google it. I doubt this filter was specifically made for Harbor Freight. I see this post two years old but could you post the number.
@@ragingbullhcwf
Could cut an old pair of panty hose to use as a pre-filter. Ladies who know this, don’t get mad, just trying to help these guys out. 🤷🏻♀️
Walmart Hart filters should work
Can get filter Walmart to
How do you it open
At 4:10 in the video I open it up. Very easy. Thanks for watching!
Why the heck doesn't this cheap brand sell attachments separately?
Can I use it has a normal vacuum
It's a shop vac. You wouldn't want to try to vacuum your carpet in your house with this thing. But if you're looking for a shop vac wet dry vac this gets the job done. Also, see my new video on aftermarket filters for this from Walmart. Thanks for watching!
Yes.
Not me watching this video trying to figure out how to work this thing because I spilled 5 gallons of water in my car
I had one for 3 weeks. Used it for 2 light jobs collecting dust from 1.) a dry wall repair and 2.) clean up some concrete spalling dust in basement. No water clean up. The next time I went to use it the motor shorted out. Very disappointed.
Yes I always believe in using the tools heavily in the first 90 days to see if they are defective. Good move on your part (to find out it's defective and return it). Have you seen the Project Farm review on these? He feels like they are a lot of bang for the buck. Thanks for watching.
@@TheSwitzAutomotive I watched his testing directly after watching your review. They are a lot of bang but they also have the most limited warranty. Some things you get a lot of performance but no guarantees. Others you get OK performance and quality guarantees.
@@jeremymenning56 100% agree in that HF could just as easily have a 1 year warranty and not be laughed at (who at HF really thinks offering a 3 month warranty is anything other than a statement that "we are not confident in the stuff we are making"). They could then offer an extended 3 year warranty for an extra $30 or so....
@@jeremymenning56
filters hate drywall dust.
most clogg instantly and the finest of the fine dust, the worst kind, gets thrown back into the air and ends up on all, and I mean all surfaces.
That's too bad it actually killed the vacuum though.
At the same time, if I was a harbor freight vacuum sucking up drywall dust for 3 weeks I'd probably give out too.
Have been using rigid shop vac for over a year with combination of a bag as well as a filter. Works well.
But it's the boss's.
Attracted to the Bauer for my own, after project farm video but I gots to have a bag.
That one will rip it right off. You don’t want that one.
It works good on a BMW but will it work fine on a Lexus? What about an Infiniti? Or if I wanted to get real crazy would it work fine on a Mercedes? Is it too awsome to work on a lowly little peasent car such as a Volkswagen? I really need answers to these questions lol.
The fact that customer service was lacking and no filter replacement mention in manual should tell you this NOT a good buy
I hear what you're saying... but the filters they take are the Dayton filters and so far the unit has performed very well for me. Thanks for watching!
Th
Did you try a standard Shop-Vac brand filter? Looks like it might fit. Bring the top end to Home Depot or Lowes and size it up.
No crevice tool? What kind of nonsense is that? You cannot clean a car without one. The video shows cleaning the back seat area which is never where the dirt is. By the time you buy the crevice tool, you could have bought a Dewalt of the same size with a warranty. The only place this beats the Dewalt is the onboard storage.
The DeWalt is about $100 or so... I bought this thing for less than half of that (with tax) and it's still serving me well. Yes, I wish it had a crevice tool but I can use my other vacuum attachments just fine on this unit. If you have kids you know that the back seat is where the dirt is... anyway, thanks for watching. I hope you become a subscriber and make your cars last 25 years (or as long as you want to drive them).
@@TheSwitzAutomotive Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. I might go with the Harbor Freight but also looking at the Hart stainless. What makes me nervous about that one is denting. I'll have to see one in the flesh because at that price, I would guess the stainless would have to be pretty thin. I prefer the molded plastic myself.
The cars are covered. They are 2006-2007 Saturn Vues which are FWD intentionally NOT AWD, which have the Acura MDX power train and 3,500 lb. towing. They are serviced at the Honda dealer because of that and get a new timing belt, water pump, tensioner, and valve lash set every 105,000 miles. They are 19-20 in the city and 27 on the highway with 40 lbs of air in the tires, but otherwise drive them normally and not go for over 20 city or 27 highway. Underneath they are done in Corrosion Free 3000, which sets like a thin film of Vaseline and creeps into all of the areas between two pieces of metal coming together which is why they are like new underneath even with the Michigan winters. This I learned from the Canadian government who did extensive testing for their military vehicles and fire towers. There are not many place in the US that does it, but there is one in Detroit where they go every 2 years. The only external metal are the hood, roof, and tailgate. The remainder is plastic snap on panels and door skins which do not get dinged or chipped in parking lots so they look like new outside as well. Every panel in the junk yard is a perfect panel unless it was part of a accident. However, the Corrosion Free 3000 trick works good on tin lizzies also. The seats are leather for kid messes and the carpets are pretty discolored in the drivers area from salt and wear, so I will be replacing those.
