  • HOW TO VACUUM WATER WITH A SHOP VAC
    In this video, Renos demonstrates how to vacuum water with a shop vac.
    He uses a rigid shop vac to show the process. He starts by cleaning out the vacuum canister.
    Next, he removes the paper dust filter and then he replaces it with a specialty filter for vacuuming liquids. He does a side b side comparison between the two types of filters and explains the pros and cons of each.
    Then he goes inside and demonstrates how to use the shop vacuum when vacuuming large amounts of liquid. He also shares some best practices for working safely and avoiding spills.

    Thanks Ive had a shop vac in my garage brand new in the box for 4 years and now I know how to use it to clean up wet spills which is what I bought it for. I didnt realize I was about to use the wrong filter, which is what I did to the mini shop vac I have and have never used it again after that experience but I forgot all about it. I had to watch 5 different videos that claimed to show you how to use a shop vac before I found yours, which actually does show you the filter to use. Thanks! Now I wont go another 4 years mopping. You rock. :)

    I use the size 1 and 1/0 Mustad hooks to freeline for snook ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxzXmlErSqVAEGWFEKO530BvTqFDw53QW3 and they have been fantastic. The points are super sharp, and the hook is small enough to blend with my baitfish, yet large enough to land fish 30" or more. I also use these hooks when I'm pier or surf fishing with my kids. They tend to catch tons of smaller snapper, whiting, and catfish, and we get far fewer gut hooks with these Mustad in-lines, which means more of them survive after release. I was actually using these hooks when I caught my friend too, but I think that had more to do with the bait I was using ;-)

    Thank you! I have used my Shop Vac one time for water in an emergency. It worked, but I wasn't sure if I had done it correctly, and after watching you, I did. Now I have to use it again for water, but not in a panic situation. I did find out the first time that mine has a float that rises to stop the suction when full. You can hear when it blocks suction and was very obvious. It also has a drain valve that can be adjusted for proper flow into a floor drain. I wanted to mention the dry filters I use. I use after market filters that are made for it, a vary standard size for most Shop Vacs. They are reusable, and I get about 1 1/2 years out of each one. I use it daily, and I abuse it hard every time I empty. I take a thick wood dowel and beat the hell out of it hitting the rubber top and bottom and sometimes I miss and hit the filter, no damage. Then I use a cheap plastic scrub brush dry, that takes a lot more off and loosens the rest. Follow up with a leaf blower and it's like new. They cost about $30 each, but I always get at least 18 months out of them and often more. That company also makes filters for my house vacuum cleaner, I bought two of those about 3 years ago and the first one is still strong, cleaned and abused like the other filters. I probably cannot mention the company name, but they are on Amazon. Search for reusable Shop Vac filters. Thanks for the video, you earned another subscriber!

    Update to my previous comment. I really want to thank all the folks who put up reviews. Ladies if you buy this wet vac and you don't live with superman, make sure before you leave the store to have someone their put the wheels on for you. Also if you get the pump make sure to have them attach the pump. I saw from other reviews to get a quick connector. I brought one from target by Gilmour quick connector male. The vac works great. I accidentally connected the hose to the wrong end, the blower is very powerful. I just thinking I brought this for just getting up floods. Since the pandemic it appears I am going to be pretty busy. Again thank you to all you wonderful people who take the time to tell and demonstrate products for us.

    Thanks so much for finally having a video that demonstrates how to properly use a dry/wet vacuum, especially the wet method! I've borrowed a smaller vacuum of a different brand and haven't found any demonstration videos using the wet method. I'm glad this one showed me what to do even if it's not the one I'm borrowing. Always keep the owners manual!

I have to drain the basin below my fountain because in trying to clean it, I stirred up so many years of debris on the bottom that I am afraid I will kill the birds. How would you like to save a ton of money and extend the life of those expensive HEPA (green) filters by extending their service life by about 10 times?? Go get the Dustopper from HD for $40 bucks. Or the Dust Deputy. And a 5 gallon plastic bucket to attach with a supplied hose. Its slightly more cumbersome, but [literally] 99% of all the junk that you vacuum up will go in the bucket instead of the shop vac. And you'll rarely need to even open up the shop vac again. Try it, I assure you you and your wallet will feel much better. I'm a sawdust-ey woodworker. I use these religiously and I never looked back. Great discovery video. Thanks a lot.

    • @RENOS4PROSJOES
      @RENOS4PROSJOES  4 роки тому +3

      I had high hopes for the dustopper, but I ended up returning it. But based on my experience, the dustopper seems to be best suited for vacuuming up very lightweight material like wood dust. It did not work very well when I tried vacuuming up a mixture of medium-sized debris and dust. Incorporating the dustopper and 5-gallon bucket into the hose line caused a loss in suction. And while it may not drastically affect its performance when vacuuming only sawdust, it was definitely noticeable for construction and renovation debris, which drastically slowed down workflow. If you're a woodworker and only vacuuming sawdust the I can see how it could be helpful. Thank you for sharing your experience!

    Is the wet filter always required to vacuum liquids? The vacuum I have is the Ridgid HD1600 blower vac.

      Jonathan Keenan Yes, if you wet the dry filter you basicly have no suction, and if you vac when it is partially wet the dust will attach to the wet surface and reduce the vacuum suction. The better way to vac water where you can leave the dry filter on - ua-cam.com/video/qr4shF-oOzg/v-deo.html
