Thanks so much for a clear explanation of something that's been a puzzle to me for some time. People talk about gettin the BB or losing and don't say what that means or even what it is, lol. Sometimes it's the most basic stuff we need. You should have more viewers for your clarity and ability to simplify a procedure that has a lot of caveats.

Thanks Crescent. That was a very helpful video. Lots to take into consideration but when one has the buy box one doesn't want to lose it, so worth keeping top of mind. Cheers!

Hey Crescent, thank you for your valuable content, I'm learning a lot from your videos. Pls, help clarify whether the standard price (your price) can still be adjusted later in a year from your initial setup as you realized that your setup standard price was low? say to make it higher from the initial setup. Thank you.
I’m glad you’re finding value in the content! You can change the price anytime you want.
Thank you for these valuable info , when will you make new videos ?
You're welcome! I'll be making new videos soon! I've been taking a break recently.
I just setup an individual account. Will there be a buy box? If not how would new beginners are able to sell? Thx. Been following ur channel for a while now. Best guide so far.
There's no buy box for the Individual Account. People have to click the buying options to make a purchase.
ok im so confuse on the buy box i cant see the buy box one some book like see a grid of new and use not the buy now, buy box
Crescent would you suggest going back after your original listing has been made and changing your standard price or leave it?
Not sure what you mean but if you every need to adjust the price then make the changes you want.
That was a very good video, very useful. A quick question: when looking at a Keepa sales history I often see little red diamonds which say 'buy box by third party FBA' . Are these instances of where the seller has lost the buy box to someone else before regaining it?
Thank you for your feedback! I'm glad you found value in it. The pink diamond shows what the buy box price is on that day. A vertical line appears if the box has changed that day.
Hi Crescent
Thank you for this clear explanation on the buy box. It is a topic that I am trying to wrap my head over. I have a couple of questions:
1. Do I need to be buy box eligible in order to run a sponsored products ad campaign? I already have a pro account and I am a new seller.
2. Do individual sellers have the add to cart option on their product listings?
You're welcome! 1) Yes 2) Yes
Thank you for the video, are we able to go into existing asins and increase the "your price" and add in a sale price? - TIA
You’re welcome! Yes.
Thank you sir, can you make a video for FBA wholesalers how they can save the boy box?
thanks
You're welcome! The strategies in the video apply to wholesale, it doesn't matter how you're selling on Amazon, the buy box works the same.
Hi Crescent, Great video!
Does the buy box only apply to sellers that are all selling the same exact product (from the same listing)? So if I created a new product listing and no other sellers are selling my exact product, the buy box doesn't apply, correct?
Thanks!
The buy box issue only applies when multiplied sellers have their products listed under a single listing.
Hi Kao! I’m looking into FBA , This video is so helpful. Btw, are you Mien??
Glad you found value in the video! Not sure what you mean by "Mien"? I like chow mein :D
Hi crescent! Thank you for your videos. I have a questions regarding Your Price vs Sale Price... ex: if your price is at 40 and today I set sale price to 30. Will amazon take their fulfillment fees from the sale price or the your price? Thanks in advance
Thank you for your feedback! The fees are always based on the price the unit actually sells for.
Thank you for your clear and informative videos; I just have a question; why amazon PPC doesn't run for any items which is not in buy box?
You’re welcome. It wouldn’t make sense to pay for ads only to give someone else the sale.
hey Crescent. Awesome stuff once again! I just got my product 2 weeks ago and for some reason when i try to purchase my own product another product shows up. Should I keep lowering my price until I get the buy box and do ppc once i have it?
Glad you found value in the video! You need to get rid of the hijackers or let them sell out. Don't get into a price war.
@@CrescentKao Awesome! Thanks!
Good luck from Afghanistan
hi Mr kao
thanks for your priceless info.
I'm so confused about upc.
If I put a product( like mug) which already exist in amazon, & usa is my market place. Does It need upc code?
Or fnsku is sufficent?
Thanks again
Hello! You're welcome! If you're doing private label, every product or variation will require it's own unique UPC barcode. If you're not planning to sell in retail or brick and mortar stores, then only the FNSKU is required to be on each unit. This goes over it: ua-cam.com/video/eyMI-IJT160/v-deo.html
@@CrescentKao
Thanks again Mr kao
Just one more thing, does printing on existed product will count as private labeling?
I mean printing quotes or sentence on a mug, not our logo
With best regards
hi crescent , I have a question about when to list there are two options 1: list to fba 2: list as fba and send to amazon. Which do I choose and can I list and send inventory later? I Dont have inventory yet
Hello. Yes, you can list and ship later. You can ship anytime you want. This goes over how to create your first listing: ua-cam.com/video/qwd4bxnXizA/v-deo.html
Thanks for your video but I think I'm missing your point. If I lose the buy box, are you saying that the Add to Cart button would not be present on my product listing page? I have never seen a product page without an add to cart button.
You're welcome. Yes, that is correct. The button may not disappear. When a buyer clicks it, the sale may go to a hijacker instead.
Hi, yet another Great video!!!, I recommend people watch Crescent's other videos too!
Question: Can we increase the 'Your price' several months after set up, but still months before a boom period? yet keeping the actual sale price low most that time until we want to actually increase during a boom time.
Or is it too late that I set my 'Your price' too low already?
Cheers
Thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it! You can change the prices and other listing details anytime you want.
@@CrescentKao
But will doing that lose the buy box ?
Thanks
Hey Crescent, thanks for this video! It gave me a lot of knowledge about the buy box. One thing I would like to ask about the buy box that you didn't cover is: why does a private label product sometimes has the 'Buy Box Wins' slid to 92% from the usual 100%? The price had stayed the same and there was no other similar product on sale. What does getting less than 100% of the 'Buy Box Wins' mean? Does it impact my sales at all? Thank you in advance.
Hello, I'm glad you found value in the content! Not all buyers that visit a listing are able to purchase the item. In those cases, there's no buy box so it affects the buy box percentage.
@@CrescentKao I see. Good to know about that. Thank you for the reply.
Hi Crescent can you send me in the right direction to fins the category price restrictions? Regarding losing your buybox for the product being under $9.99.
Thanks
Hello. There is no pricing restriction for the buy box or a condition for being under $9.99. You can lose the buy box if you price it too high based on many factors listed in the video.
Hey Crescent, love all your videos so far. If I run out of stock and someone then hijacks and takes over my buy box, do I regain the buy box when new stock comes in? If not, what should I do? Thanks!
Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate! I'm glad you found value in the videos. If you run out of stock, whoever is on your listing will gain the buy box. Once you restock, if the algorithm deems that you should have the buy box back, then you will. Having FBA and the best price will play the largest role.
@@CrescentKao Thanks for the reply! One more question if you don't mind. Actually, I private labeled my product. I think what happened is that a bunch of people bought it from me really cheap when I launched and are now reselling it using my listing! I restocked a couple of days ago but still haven't regained the buy box. Is there something I can do, for e.g: contact Amazon to have these hijackers removed from my listing since the product is private labeled?? These people only have 1 unit in stock.
You're welcome. Sorry to hear you have hijackers on your listing. This video covers hijackers: ua-cam.com/video/Gq8rrrxdXIo/v-deo.html
@@CrescentKao Thank you sir, you're the best!
Great video! I wish I saw your video sooner. I only set the manufacturer price hight but I set the listing price too low (didn't use the sale price). is there any way to make it higher? Can I increase it by $2 every few weeks? Also for some reason, the volume of this video is a little low, can you make the volume higher?
I'm glad you found it helpful! You can change the price anytime you want. You just have to be mindful of how much you change the price by and how frequently like I said in the video. Of the millions of views I get on my videos, I get less than 5 people a year complaining about the volume. My guess is it's on your end. Try turning it up?
Very useful. I've been hit by doing it to myself. DAMNIT!
Glad you found it helpful!
@@CrescentKao Just wondering Crescent, I'm the only one on my listing selling my item. I think I fell for the newbie mistake you mentioned of changing the price to frequently. I've now left it on a price that performed well and wondering if and how long you think it will take for Amazon to give me the buy box back? I think losing it might have had something to do with my ad campaign running out as they took it from me the day all my ad campaigns ended... Maybe just a coincidence. Anyway I put the ads back on immediately and now for an indefinite period. If you have any thoughts how long/when/if to get it back then I'd really appreciate any thoughs you might have. Many thanks, Sebastian.
@@sebastianthefoodbodycoach4228 If a change in price caused the buy box to disappear, then usually changing it back will restore the buy box right away. If you changed the price back and there's no buy box then it was lost due to something else. You can't lose the buy box from changes in your PPC campaigns. I'd contact seller support if the buy box isn't back after 24 hours.
@@CrescentKao Thank you so much for taking the time to answer me Crescent. I sorted the problem. Its fantastic that you're so interactive with your audience. You've definitely been my go to guy since starting and I feel like I've used your tips the whole way along so I'm truly grateful for the time and effort you've put in. It really means a lot. 1 last question and I'm gonna stop bugging you. Just wondering your thoughts on writing comments on reviews? I think it's good practice but can anyone else actually see what I write as in a potential new customer?
Thank you so much for the valuable video. I have a specific question. My buy box sometimes gets down, usually a bit but the day it is down I have no sales. How do I know the reason? I can´t see anyone selling on my listing. Besides most of my products are modified, so it would be weird if any one sold on my listing and customers expected the same product. Can you help?
You're welcome. It's hard to say without knowing any of the specific details. Contact Seller Support.
The scenario you have explained in this video related to is mostly related to the Wholesale FBA model. Because, if we are selling PL with Brand registry, then how another seller can attach with our listing and hence 1 seller will always keep buy box with him/her. What's your thought on it? Plz explain.
Regardless if you have Brand Registry or not, other sellers can list their products under your listing. It'd be up to you to remove them if they are selling counterfeit products on your listing.
I lost my buy box when I changed to FBA. Have FBM because of the Corona restrictions. I just wanna check if my products was eligible for shipping, but it wasn't. Now that I set up a new campaign( manually) I lost the buy box.
Amazon is favoring FBM right now.
Hey Crescent ☺🖐 When searching for a product do you recommend to be specific or broad. I type in a broad keyword- cotton tablecloth (for example) and the average reviews are over 100. Then I type in a more specific keyword- gold cotton tablecloth, and the review rate meets my criteria. If I'm only going to sell gold tablecloths should I stick to this product or stay away from it since the broadest keyword is too competitive? 🤔
Hello no name. You need to choose the correct (shortest) keyword phrase that best describes the niche. This video goes over it: ua-cam.com/video/_aIu4LPNmrg/v-deo.html
Thank you! ❤
Well, that's why everyone recommends finding a micro niche!!! the broad KW search is rather saturated.
Yo Crescent! Once you loose the buybox because of changing your price, how long does it take approximately to get the buybox back once you leave it steady the way you teach on this video?
There's no set time frame. You just have to test until you get it back.
I am a Private Label seller, I guess I lost my buy Box because I see another company name on my page, and when I click on it seems to me they are selling my Private Label product!! Is not a similar product but My produtc with my logo on it... is that possible?
Hi Crescent Kao, I hope you are having a great day. I recently launched my private label prdouct. but I am not winning buy box and unable to advertise. please let me know how to resolve this problem
Hello! Did you follow the details i mentioned in the video? You also need to have an Amazon Professional account.
Would I loose my buy box if I discount a product below $9.99 too or does it only apply to the original price? Thanks so much for your great videos, Crescent!
You're welcome! You won't know until you try.
Really good video, but i have a question, i listed my product in a new listing and my selling price is the same as other sellers but buy box rotating only with other sellers, not with me. my account is 3 months old and has 6 ratings now and other sellers' ratings are very high. so what you suggest to me. i have to lower the prices or what? thanks
I’m glad you found value in the video. You need to have a Professional seller account to get the Buy Box.
@@CrescentKao Thanks for the reply sir , I have professional business account , I'm doing Amazon wholesale business FBA. So any other solutions to avoid the price war
Hi Crescent! can an FBM listing also have a chance to win buybox even if the brand is not registered on amz? Trying to optimize my client's FBM listing with no sales, on reviews, not appearing on search results, and not a brand registered one. Hope this listing is not hopeless.. thanks in advance
Hello. It's difficult to win the buy box if you're doing FBM even if you're the only seller on the listing. That's why its preferable to always do FBA.
Hi Crescent, I have a question.
What if I didn't set the sale price at that high level like you explained at the end of the video.
Is there a way to increase it without losing the buy box? Like to increase it slowly, in 50ct steps for example:
Thank you!
Yes, just raise it and if you lose the buy box then revert back to a lower price until you get it back again and slowly raise the price to where you want to sell it at.
@@CrescentKao thank you!
i have been one of many who lost the buybox to himself XD so bad I didnt come across this video before! however @Crescent I read that amazon doesnt allow to set a "standard" and "sales" price anymore, probably because everyone was setting a way too high standard price and then a normal price as "sales price". Do you know anything about it?
thanks for the great content, as always :)
You're welcome, I'm glad to hear you found value in the video. You can still set a regular price with a sale price, no problem there. The only thing Amazon is phasing out is the strike out feature of the higher price.
Awesome stuff. You explained how to get the buy box back for a couple of scenarios but I didn't catch how to get the buy box back if you lost it to yourself. Launched a product at a $2 price point and then raised it to $16 and lost the buy box. I didn't set the fields as you had shown which was a mistake. Any idea how to get it back now? We've had a fair amount of purchases at the $16 price point but still no buy box.
If you lost it to yourself by changing the price, then set it back to the original price to get it back and slowly raise the price up by $0.10-0.50 at a time one day at a time until you get to the new price point.
@@Kwefi Set the price back to get the Buy Box back. Wait a few days, then try raising it again.
Crescent Kao Thx
I had been at 100% buy box for days and couldn't understand what it meant. Thank you for explaining it. Recently I got this red squiggly line from the 100% and I assume maybe it is because I had a return with a comment "didn't want". Can this reduce my buy box score? How do you regain the 100% without the squiggly line? Thanks for your help
You're welcome! Returns don't affect the buy box. I'm not sure what you mean by the squiggly line.
hey man i lost the buy box to myself even if i had set the "your price" to "$58" but now my price is stuck at $36. I have tried everything...what to do? thanks
Is the sale price set to $36?
Thanks a lot! Great Video! I just got a question: We where able to position one of our products, only produced by us. Which got high jacked by a account that only dedicates to this and sells it for an absurd price by making a chip low quality replica that he probably makes in China. We just started the private label process and would send our next stock to FBA. But do you know any other strategy that we could make to get the buy box back?
BTW we tried to cut his price but like he ships in 2 months(absurd) and he makes it in China he would lower the price up to 600% percent less just to cut us. Following your video it seems Is better to stay at a steady price to try to get it back. But I would appreciate your opinion, thanks.
I'm glad you found value in the video! If you have hijackers on your listing, this video goes over how to remove them: ua-cam.com/video/Gq8rrrxdXIo/v-deo.html
Crescent Kao I just saw that video, It helps a lot! Thanks you! Just subscribed!
If the hijacker sells a crappy product, would the bad feedback affect the same lisitng?
Yes.
how do i get my rates up if i just started, i got no ratinggs, got no feedback, how will i ever win the buy box
This goes over it: ua-cam.com/video/AesnDbqmvQg/v-deo.html
Hey. I am an eCommerce VA. My client wants me to optimized his amazon FBM account and his account is really old and outdated. He wants me to revive ti but how I can regain the buy box? Hope you can answer this immediately. Thanks! Your YT channel is really helpful
You need to have inventory and the best price to get the buy box.
So your price should be the same as sale price regularly unless you are actually running a sale? And keep extending your end date?
No, the "Your price" field should be set to the highest price you'd ever think you'd sell the item for. The "Sale price" field is the price you want to sell it for right now.
Can the your price be changed or increased after you list the product to compensate if your costs go up?
You can change the Your Price field anytime you want however, I suggest you set it to the highest price right away and not change it. Only change the Sale Price field.
Crescent, I did a 7 day deal on a private label product that was originally priced at 19.99. The 7 day deal was priced at 16.99, I ran the deal for a few days, cancelled it to see the results and was hit with the suppressed buybox. Now I am having to keep it at 16.99 and cannot go over that price. What is going on?
Try raising the price back up slowly, like $0.50 a day
I have a Private Label and I lost buy Box to a seller that is selling MY PRODUCT, my same
package , and my Brand ...is it common? I wrote to Amazon about that but look like they are not doing anything! I'm so frustrated. I wrote to that seller saying he is not authorized to sell my product, I told him I would report him to Amazon.... look like he doesn't care...
what should I do?
Thanks for helping
Marlene
Like I said in the video, if they are reselling your own product, there's nothing you can do about it. You just have to let them sell out.
How an other seller can jump( start selling) in to my listing, if the listing is mine?
Anyone with a similar product can list their products on someone else's listing. This goes over it: ua-cam.com/video/Gq8rrrxdXIo/v-deo.html
Hi, the buy box competition doesn’t apply on private label ?? I’m confused 🤯🤯🤯
The buy box applies to all listings.
Hi Crescent. One thing I dont understand is how can someone "hijack" the listing. If I am the one who created the listing, put the pictures, and their product cant look like mine with my logo...how is that Amazon give them the sale? How do you physically "attach" your inventory to someones listing? I dont see how that can be done. How do they link it? Thanks.
Hello Anthony Benitez. When you add a new product in Seller Central, you can create a new listing or sell under another existing listing. Amazon doesn't want fragmented listings in their marketplace. Unlike eBay, Amazon wants all the same products to be listed under the same listing.
Thanks @@CrescentKao and thanks Anthony for asking. I was wondering the same thing but understand it now with this perfect explanation.
Hi Crescent. Thanks for the video. Is there other way to win buy box. I meat all of the criterias and I don’t have buy box at the momet. Only difference is that other seller have 10 reviews with 5 start on seller account and I have 3 reviews with 5 stars.
Regards 🙌🏼
You’re welcome. Reviews has nothing to do with it. You also need to have a Professional seller account to get the buy box.
@@CrescentKao Thanks for replay. I mean seller rating reviews. How to win buy box if sellers have same criteria.
1. Professional account
2. Doing FBA
3. Same delivery time
4. Same price
5. New product
I was selling one product for 3 weeks. Then one seller come with same criteria and same price. From then I’m not selling at all.
When I drop the price I win buy box, but when other sellere match price I lose buy box
@@MorriSirroM unfortunately, that’s just how the system works. Either get the hijacker off your listing like from the video or hope they sell out of inventory if they’re reselling your product that they bought from you.
If you set "your price" to high but sell at "sale price" -Amazon calculates fees based on "your price" and that might be too much.
The fee you pay are based off the price the unit actually sells for.
who controls the buy box price, is it the one in the buy box at the time?
The seller that gets the sale when you click on the Buy Button.
Hello Crescent so I've created my listing is currently inactive as I'm waiting for my products to be manufactured in China. You said to put the price as high as I can possibly imagine. Now my listing price is set at 29.99 inactive. During seasonal times, it could sell for $34.99 so should I go ahead and change my price to $34.99 now? Also, when my products hit Amazon if I want to start at 24.99 do I just put that price in the sale period? Thank you so much!!!
I'd set the price to $34.99 or $39.99. It's not crucial what it is, just set it to the highest you'd imagine selling it for. And yes, set the actual price you want to sell it for in the Sale Price field.
@@CrescentKao Thank you Crescent!!!!
You're welcome.
@@CrescentKao I heard if you charge the prices on your listing too fast, it could be a problem. So I guess whenever we have to change any prices, it would be the sale price.. just want to be very sure. :-) Thanks!!
I just upgrade to a professional account just so that I get the BOX BUTTON and still no BUY BOX BUTTON? Amazon Support is no help PLZ HELP me understand
You need to have units in stock and the item priced competitively like I stated in the video.
Hi Crescent,
great advices!
I have lost Baybox to my product by increasing suddenly the price. I am the only one selling my private label. I have been struggling for few weeks to regain buybox.
I am keeping the new price and trying to drive more sales by giveaways to see if Amazon algorithm will give the buybox back. is this the right thing?
Thank you!
Giveaways has nothing to do with the buy box. The video explains how to get the buy box back.
I have the same issue. The video does not explain how to fix this issue. I am trying to get my price back up to higher a price but when I change by few cents I loose buy box percentage. I am $2 away. Should I set my price to what I want it to be and then use the sale price field to slowly increase?
If you are the only seller selling a specific item that isn't listed anywhere else on Amazon, will you automatically get the buy box?
I also didn't follow the "your price" vs "sale price" bit. So amazon compares your "sale price" to the "your price" and if its higher, you are at risk of losing the buy-box? Can both these prices be adjusted after the listing has already been created?
The buy box is per listing. Every listing will have their own buy box. If you change the price too often or the change you make is too drastic, or if the price is way out of wack compared to your competitors prices, you can lose the buy box.
@@CrescentKao Gotcha - Thanks Crescent
@@ArslanSana you’re welcome.
Hi Great video. I am a private seller but i have lesser buy box %. What that really means?
It reason can be a number of things, but the percentage is how often you have the buy box vs not having it or a hijacker has it.
